edcom NEWS The new edcom school year kicked off with a Members’ Meeting in London. On 27 September 2013, during the first meeting chaired by Frances Illingworth, Global Recruitment Director at WPP and edcom President since May 2013, edcom Members set priorities for the institute’s work during the year ahead.

NEW: edcom Thesis Competition Join today!

edcom launched its call for entries for the 7th annual student competition, Ad Venture, which is organised in collaboration with the European Commission’s Directorate General Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion.

Students across Europe are challenged to create a pan-European campaign to raise awareness about European opportunities that support European youngsters aged under 25 to get a first work experience.

You can now apply for the fifth EACA International Advertising Summer School which will take place in Rome between 7-11 July 2014. During the five-day programme, participants learn how the different communications disciplines fit together to create a complete campaign and work in international teams on a single real client brief.

The European Institute for Commercial Communications Education (edcom) is organising the first annual Bachelor and Master thesis competition. The purpose of the competition is to reward Bachelor and Master thesis among edcom member schools.

Winning students will be awarded free participation, travel expenses and accommodation at the EACA International Summer School between 7-11 July 2014 in Rome, Italy.

COMING UP in DECEMBER

Euro Effie Student Module edcom will publish the EACA Euro Effie Student Module, a new teaching module engaging students in judging real Euro Effie cases. The module consists of teaching material, as well as videos with examples of real Euro Effie 2013 cases. An example of a Power Point presentation which has already been used in teaching the module in France is also available.

Summer School for Academics Following the huge success of its first edition in 2013, edcom will open applications for the second International Advertising Summer School for Academics which will take place in August 2014. The Summer School will bring together academics and international trainers to discuss the hottest topics in the field of advertising during a three-day workshop.

edcom Call for Papers edcom is preparing its Call for Papers for its 2014 Conference in Barcelona, Spain.

The Call will invite both students and academics to submit abstracts of their research papers on a given topic. The edcom Research Committee will then select the three finalists which are invited to present their results during the edcom Annual Conference on 9 May 2014.

edcom Members’ Meeting 21 February 2014 On 21 February 2014, edcom Member Representatives will meet in Brussels at the Erasmus Hogeschool. The agenda includes updates on existing projects, exchange information on current projects and a training session with one of the EACA International Summer School for Academics 2014 trainers.

edcom Annual Conference 9 May 2014

edcom announced the date of its upcoming Annual Conference which will take place on 9 May 2014 in Barcelona, Spain. The event is addressed to academics, agency professionals, clients and students interested in the future of the advertising industry.
