Sylvan Learning certified instructors will teach a plan that builds the skills, study habits, and attitudes your teenager needs to score higher on test day and apply to college with confidence. Students of all test-taking abilities will benefit from Sylvan’s highly personalized and targeted approach that focuses on the exact skills needed to successfully answer test questions. A comprehensive content review for each of the ACT’s four required tests – English, Math, Reading, and Science will be included. Students will also have 24/7 access to pre/post tests online with tutorials for one calendar year. Weightlifting (HPR 1811 CE)
Throughout the semester students will work with instructor Ross Jackson on how to achieve different goals such as increased speed, power, flexibility, endurance, strength, and muscular size. Students will be working all major muscle groups including legs, chest, back, shoulders, and arms with increasing amounts of resistance. Students will also cover the basics of nutrition. Yoga
Yoga is designed to connect the mind and body. Class will focus on strength and balance movements designed to increase flexibility and reduce stress. Dance your way into fitness with this Latin-inspired dance style class. This class joins high energy movements with dance combinations to achieve a full body workout. Zumba helps tone, sculpt, and burn fat while incorporating exercises such as squats, knee lifts, and bicep curls. You’ll have so much fun you won’t realize you’re working out. Self Defense (HPR 1001 CE)
This fun and informational-packed class presents the skills you need to disable an assailant and escape an assault. This hands-on course is designed to emphasize confidence and self-discipline while developing and enhancing options for self-defense. Under the guidance of experienced instructor Nathaniel Thomas, you will learn a full range of self-defense techniques, including awareness, assault deterrence, and setting verbal boundaries. Jewelry Soldering (ART 2001 C3)
How about making a friend or loved one a beautiful piece of jewelry? Soldering is a process in which two or more metal items are joined together by melting and adding a filler metal (solder) into the joint. This course will show you how to solder sterling silver rings using a torch, silver solder, and various other tools to create a beautiful piece of jewelry. Pottery
This class explores the art of forming and shaping clay. Anyone can participate, regardless of skill level. You will advance at your own rate while making creative pieces. Explore hand-building techniques such as Coil, Slab, and Wheel while learning how to incorporate decoration and embellishments to improve surface design. Experienced students will continue their exploration of ceramic art by practicing advanced hand techniques. Instructor Lois Banton will cover simple repair and alteration techniques. You will learn how to hem pants by hand and machine. AR Concealed Carry Course
Taught by certified concealed handgun safety instructor, Buck Morris, this course offers a safe, friendly environment for Arkansas residents to qualify to conceal a handgun with a permit (license). Classroom experience and firing qualification (to be held at a local range) meets the requirements of Arkansas Act 419 of 1995. Cake Decorating for Beginners
This fun hands-on class teaches basic cake decorating. Participants will take a previously baked cake and learn basic cake decorating techniques. Instructor Cathy Helton starts with the proper way to apply icing and frosting and slowly begin adding borders and flowers. You will receive instruction on various types of icing, proper use of decorating tools, and instruction in skills needed to prepare a beautiful cake. Let’s Preserve! Canning Class
Canning is a great way to preserve your produce beyond the growing season. Blue Ribbon award winner, Wilma Powell, will demonstrate canning techniques. The Saints and Mystics
In this course the Rev. Dr. Bill Buchanan, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Forrest City, will introduce you to the life stories of some of the men and women whose heroic and extraordinary faith has had a profound impact on the church and on humanity through the ages. You will have the opportunity to reflect on what made them so remarkable and how they can be examples for the rest of us in the practice of our faith. Boating Education Course
Anyone born on or after January 1, 1986, and of legal age to operate a motorboat, must have completed an approved Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Boating Education Course and carry proof while operating a motorboat on Arkansas water. The law also affects operators of sailboats. The Arkansas Boating Education Course teaches the fundamentals of safe and responsible boating. This is necessary to reduce loss of life, personal injury, and property damage while increasing boating enjoyment for outdoor enthusiasts. Healthcare Provider CPR
The Healthcare Provider Course teaches CPR skills for helping victims of all ages (including ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-mask device, and oxygen); use of an automated external defibrillator (AED); and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO). This course is intended for participants who provide health care to patients in a variety of settings. Pesticide Application Training Participants will learn how to apply restricted use pesticides used for agricultural commodities on property owned or rented by them or their employers. Designed for private applicators of pesticides and led by instructors from the University of Arkansas – Division of Agriculture, Cooperative Extension Service. Federal law requires that an individual who purchases or applies a restricted use pesticide must be certified and receive periodic pesticide safety training. Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Refresher Course (EMT 1501 CE)
This course follows the USDOT National Standard Curriculum and meets the Arkansas Department of Health – Section of EMS Transition Course requirements for 24 hours of refresher/transition training. Information provided assists Arkansas licensed or nationally registered EMT-Basics to meet re-certification requirements. Pre-registration is required. Paramedic Refresher Course (EMT 2503 CE)
This course follows the USDOT National Standard Curriculum and provides 48 hours of refresher training. RN to EMT Program
The RN to EMT program is designed to provide the RN with both knowledge and skills to assess and treat an acutely ill or injured patient in the pre-hospital settling at the Emergency Medical Technician – Basic Level. Students will be tested to assure minimal competencies and technical skills relative to pre-hospital care. After successfully completing this course, the student will be eligible to complete the National registry EMT Basic Certification Examination. The four days of classroom time is designed to complete the extrication requirement, learn all skills and take the Arkansas Practical Skills Exam. Prerequisites include: Current State RN Licensure, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS). This camp is designed for Junior and Senior high students. Participants do not need to have any prior cheerleading experience. Registration
Classes are filled on a first-come first-serve basis, and early registration is encouraged. Please note that fees are due upon registration to reserve a space in a class. A student is not officially enrolled in a class until payment is received.
Cancellation Policy
A 100% refund is given when a course is cancelled by the College. EACC reserves the right to cancel any class due to insufficient enrollment. Mailed refunds are usually received within two to three weeks.
Refunds
A transferable voucher may be given for the amount of the class if a student cancels 48 hours prior to the start of the class.
All students must register and pay all course fees prior to the first day of class.
Continuing Education classes will not meet on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 19th) or Spring Break (March 23rd - 27th).
