Registration
Classes are filled on a first-come first-serve basis, and early registration is encouraged. Please note that fees are due upon registration to reserve a space in a class. A student is not officially enrolled in a class until payment is received. All credit course students will be required to pay a $20 annual infrastructure fee.
Cancellation Policy
A 100% refund is given when a course is cancelled by the College. EACC reserves the right to cancel any class due to insufficient enrollment. Mailed refunds are usually received within two to three weeks.
Refunds
A transferable voucher may be given for the amount of the class if a student cancels 48 hours prior to the start of the class.
All students must register and pay all course fees prior to the first day of class. Continuing Education classes will not meet on the Labor Day Holiday (September 4th), Fall Break (October 16th & 17th), and the Thanksgiving Break (November 22rd - 24th).
Personal Interests & Senior Sage Equine Classes Recreational Riding (HPR 1501 C1)
This course will offer basic recreational riding techniques to students who wish to ride primarily for enjoyment, recreation, or fitness. Western Riding Techniques I (AGN 1112)
This course is designed to teach western riding techniques and equitation riding to students with little or no previous experience. Students will develop their skills through practical experience and will have individualized equitation lessons in a group setting. Technology Classes Introduction to Computers (BUS 1121 C1)
This class starts at the very beginning! By the end of this course, you will understand and “talk” computer lingo. You know your files are in that computer, but can you find them easily? If you own a computer, then you need to really understand how and why to plan your e-filing system, and how to confidently move, copy, paste, rename, and save files and folders. Microsoft Excel (BUS 1621 W1)
Microsoft Excel is perhaps the most important computer software program used in the workplace today. That’s why so many workers and prospective employees are required to learn Excel to enter or remain in the workplace. Students will create and edit basic worksheets and workbooks. This course is designed for students who want to gain the necessary skills to create, edit, format, and print basic Microsoft Excel worksheets. This course introduces students to the Internet and email. Students will learn to search for stock quotes, airline schedules, news, weather, online newspapers, etc. The use of search engines, downloading, sending attachments, and email will be covered. This class will provide an introduction to the presentation program, Microsoft PowerPoint. Learn how to create a simple presentation, create and edit slides, insert clipart, apply designs, work with views, and run the slide show. Art Classes Students will learn to create art pieces from scrap wood. Projects will include signs, shelves, seasonal art pieces and much more. Instructor Lois Banton will cover simple repair and alteration techniques. You will learn how to hem pants by hand and machine. Techniques for altering garments, replacing buttons, and fixing rips will be demonstrated. Want a special gift for a graduate, friend, or family member? If you have 6 to 28 t-shirts, you can design and make a keepsake quilt for someone to cherish. You must supply your own t-shirts and fusible mid-weight interfacing. This project requires you to spend extra time working on your quilt outside of class time. Sewing machines will be available, but participants may bring their own machines. This class explores the art of forming and shaping clay. Anyone can participate, regardless of skill level. Explore hand-building techniques such as Coil, Slab, and Wheel and learn how to incorporate decoration and embellishments to improve surface design. Experienced students will continue their exploration of ceramic art by practicing advanced hand techniques. Weightlifting (HPR 1811 C1)
Throughout the semester, students will work on how to achieve different goals such as increased speed, power, flexibility, endurance, strength, and muscular size. Students will be working all major muscle groups including legs, chest, back, shoulders, and arms with increasing amounts of resistance. Instructor Kim Ezell will also cover the basics of nutrition to help build a “more fit” you. Dance your way into fitness with this Latin-inspired experience. Zumba joins high energy movements with dance combinations to achieve a full body workout. Conditioning (HPR 1321)
The first half of the class is geared toward cardiovascular improvement. The second half of the class is weightlifting with small dumbbells. Students are required to have a yoga mat and their own small dumbbells. This is a beneficial course for people who want to get into shape. Cake Decorating
This fun hands-on class teaches basic cake decorating techniques. Participants will take a previously baked cake and learn basic cake decorating techniques. Instructor Cathy Helton starts with the proper way to apply icing and then add borders and flowers. You will learn about various types of icing, proper use of decorating tools, and instruction in skills needed to prepare a beautiful cake. Join us to explore how communication takes place when someone has Alzheimer’s. Learn to decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia, and identify strategies to help you communicate at each stage of the disease. AR Concealed Carry Course
Taught by certified concealed handgun safety instructor Buck Morris, this course offers a safe, friendly environment for Arkansas residents to qualify to conceal a handgun with a permit (license). Classroom experience and firing qualification (to be held at a local range) meets the requirements of Arkansas Act 419 of 1995. Hunter Education Course
Anyone born on or after January 1, 1969 must complete a hunter education course and carry a valid hunter education card to hunt in Arkansas. Children under 16 may hunt without hunter education certification as long as they are under the direct supervision of an adult who is 21 years or older. Registration is required. Perfect for horse lovers, this class offers a hands-on learning experience in all aspects of horsemanship. Participants will enjoy being around their favorite animal while learning to care for them and ride them at the same time. Whether you are brand new to guitar or you need to build on the basics that you have already been taught, instructor John Shepherd will supply you with the tools you need to improve and play like a star! Lessons will cover hand techniques, reading music, chording, etc., while working one on one with an experienced guitar player. Bring your own guitar and your inner rock star!
