Personal Interests & Senior Sage Equine Classes Basic Equine Principles & Techniques (AGN 1102 C1) Trail Riding (HPR 1511 C1) This course provides basic principles involved in handling and training horses with an emphasis on the historical perspectives and technical development of the unique cooperation between horses and humans. In addition, the course will cover equine behavior patterns and training philosophy, evolution of horsemanship, development of training equipment, alternative equine health care and therapies. Western Riding Techniques II (ANG 2112 C1)

This course will teach western riding techniques and equitation riding to students with little or no previous experience. Students will develop their skills through practical experience and will have individualized equitation lessons in a group setting. This class focuses on basic features of Photoshop so that the student can navigate the environment and use the Photoshop tools to work with photographic images. Advanced Fine Arts Photography (BUS 1191 W1) Conditioning for Horse and Rider (HPR 1011 C1)

This course will provide the basic understanding of the development of sport specific strength, neuromuscular strength, power, and speed for both horse and rider. A progression of basic exercises and techniques will be presented to maximize individual performance, minimize injury, develop, and maintain a safe and healthy horse and rider. Join national award winner, Bill Cooper as he walks you through the artistic approach of photography. This course will focus on what the artist sees instead of what the camera sees. He will refresh the students with the basic fundamentals of photography and the equiment in the first couple of sessions. The remaining sessions will include introduction to advanced fine art photography. Students should have a camera and some knowledge of photography. Yoga

Microsoft Excel (BUS 1621 C1)

Microsoft Excel is perhaps the most important computer software program used in the workplace today. That’s why so many workers and prospective employees are required to learn Excel to enter or remain in the workplace. Students will create and edit basic worksheets and workbooks. This course is designed for students who want to gain the necessary skills to create, edit, format, and print basic Microsoft Excel worksheets. Introduction to Computers or equivalent experience recommended. Taught by a professional bookkeeper, this class introduces the beginner to the basics of QuickBooks and its practical applications. Students will learn new skills and apply this knowledge to their specific requirements. Yoga is designed to connect the mind and body. Instructors will lead participants to focus on strength and balance movements designed to increase flexibility and reduce stress. This class is appropriate for all fitness levels. Wear comfortable clothing and don’t forget to bring a yoga mat to class. Conditioning

The first half of the class is geared toward cardiovascular improvement. The second half of the class is weightlifting with small dumbbells. Students are required to have a yoga mat and their own small dumbbells. Students will work all major muscle groups including legs, chest, back, shoulders, and arms with increasing amounts of resistance. Students will also cover the basics of nutrition. Put on your dancing shoes and let’s get to dancing! Dancing is one of the best activities for the heart, the mind, and the soul. Self Defense (HPR 1121 C1)

This fun and informational-packed class presents the skills you need to disable an assailant and escape an assault. This hands-on course is designed to emphasize confidence and self-discipline while developing and enhancing options for self-defense. Under the guidance of experienced instructor April Hood, you will learn a full range of self-defense techniques, including awareness, assault deterrence, and setting verbal boundaries. Don’t miss out on learning these basic steps to protecting yourself. Learn to communicate in the manual-visual mode and receive instruction in learning the alphabet, vocabulary, whole number system, and elementary conversation. Instructor Mary Helen Winkler has designed this class for individuals interested in learning to communicate with the hearing-impaired using the total communication approach. Boater Education Course

Anyone born on or after January 1, 1986, and of legal age to operate a motorboat, must have successfully completed an approved Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Boating Education Course and carry proof while operating a motorboat on Arkansas water. The law also affects operators of sailboats. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a signed parental consent form to participate. Registration is required. AR Concealed Carry Course

Taught by certified concealed handgun safety instructor, Buck Morris, this course offers a safe, friendly environment for Arkansas residents to qualify to conceal a handgun with a permit (license). Classroom experience and firing qualification (to be held at a local range) meets the requirements of Arkansas Act 419 of 1995. Participants must be 21 years of age and a resident of the State of Arkansas. Saturday, April 13th 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Fee: $60 (New), $40 (Renewal) Classroom Building 1-107

AR Enhanced Concealed Carry Course

These classes are private instruction classes. They typically meet one-half hour or one hour per week. All applied class instruction courses require five hours of practice per week for every half-hour of individual instruction. Lab fee is $25 for one-half hour per week and $50 for a one-hour per week. Taught by certified concealed handgun safety instructor Buck Morris, this course offers a safe, friendly environment for Arkansas residents to qualify for an enhanced concealed carry license (E-CHCL). Classroom experience and firing qualification (to be held at a local range) meets the 2017 changes to A.C.A. §§ 5-73-101 to -324. The E-CHCL gives a licensee the ability to carry and possess a concealed handgun in more locations than the standard AR CHCL. The course training requirements are significantly more detailed and in-depth compared to the standard AR CHCL with more detailed classroom training in aspects of self-defense with a firearm, as well as a minimum accuracy on timed live-fire qualification requirements. Participants must be 21 years of age and a resident of the State of Arkansas. In addition, participants must already possess an Arkansas CHCL or must complete the basic Arkansas Concealed Carry class first. Professional Development EMT CEU Training (EMT 1501 CE) This course follows the USDOT National Standard Curriculum and provides 20 hours of refresher training. Real Estate Continuing Education

Paramedic CEU Training (EMT 2503 CE)

This course follows the USDOT National Standard Curriculum and provides 20 hours of refresher training. Information provided assists Arkansas certified or nationally registered Paramedics to meet re-certification requirements. Pre-registration is required. Healthcare Provider CPR

The Healthcare Provider course teaches CPR skills for helping victims of all ages (including ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-mask device, and oxygen); use of an automated external defibrillator (AED); and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO). This course is intended for participants who provide health care to patients in a variety of settings. Wednesday, April 3rd 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Fee: $50 (includes required manual) Learning Resource Center - B129

This course, taught by Tom B. Rhoads with Arkansas Real Estate School, will cover important 2019 contract changes. Topics will include advertising, safety and other contractual changes. Microsoft Excel – Basic

This class introduces students to the basic features of Microsoft Excel. Slammin’ Jammin’ Guitar Lessons

Whether you are brand new to guitar or need to build on the basics that you have already learned, instructor John Shepherd will supply you with the tools you need to improve and play like a star! The 8 lessons will cover hand techniques, reading music, chording, etc., while working one on one with an experienced guitar player. Bring your own guitar and your inner rock star! Youth Horseback Riding

Perfect for horse lovers, this class offers a hands-on learning experience in all aspects of horsemanship. Participants will enjoy being around their favorite animal while also learning to care for them and ride them. Along with daily riding instruction, students will learn the importance of safety, feeding, grooming, saddling and stable management. Participants should wear pants and boots. Registration

Classes are filled on a first-come first-serve basis, and early registration is encouraged. Please note that fees are due upon registration to reserve a space in a class. A student is not officially enrolled in a class until payment is received.

Cancellation Policy

A 100% refund is given when a course is cancelled by the College. EACC reserves the right to cancel any class due to insufficient enrollment. Mailed refunds are usually received within two to three weeks.

Refunds

A transferable voucher may be given for the amount of the class if a student cancels 48 hours prior to the start of the class.

All students must register and pay all course fees prior to the first day of class.

Continuing Education classes will not meet on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 21st) or Spring Break (March 18th - 22nd)
