HUMANS OF HARDWICK
Over the years, we’ve made a habit of telling you about our faculty and the outstanding work that they do. This year, we thought it was time we let someone else do the talking. In much the same style as Brandon Stanton’s Humans of New York, we set out to capture the essence of the Eagle Hill School experience through the stories and quotes of our alumni/ae. It quickly became apparent that the most powerful influence on our students’ experiences and future successes was the close, meaningful relationships that they developed with the EHS faculty. Here is just a glimpse of what they had to say.
“Mrs. Hubacz gave me the confidence to be me. I’m going to be a teacher too, and I hope that I can teach others what she taught me.” Colleen Blair ‘09
“Dr. Riendeau saw me as much more than a student; he saw my potential before I could see it.” Haakon Harstrup ‘12
“I learned not to be afraid. The faculty encouraged me to take risks and to put myself out there.” Isa Ciccotelli ‘08
“Mr. Stone talked to me where I was, not as just a kid, and that made me take myself more seriously” Matthew Hersh ‘12
“Your teachers are not going to let you fall through the cracks. They make sure you get it so that it will be easier tomorrow.” Gina Urbano ‘09
“All the classes I have had since leaving Mrs. Bonica’s class have been easy. Her class challenged me and prepared me for college.” Ridge Newcomb ‘13
“I learned to view my learning difference as an asset.”
Alessandro Abys ‘12
“I was so focused on trying to be good at everything that I was having a hard time being good at anything. Eagle Hill taught me that it was OK to fail, that I could learn from that.” Jeanne FitzSimons ‘09
“I was told in fifth grade that I had reached my ceiling. The teachers at Eagle Hill saw the potential in me. I graduated college and now have a successful career.” Sloane Prentice ‘06
“I thought I was really different from everyone else, but when I stopped talking so much and learned how to listen to other people, everything changed for me. Richard Baron ‘08
“My teachers taught me as much outside the classroom as they did inside the classroom.” Anthony Pasini ‘06
The
Annual Giving
Fund
AND YOU’LL BE STRENGTHENING EAGLE HILL THROUGH FACULTY RETENTION. Participating in the Annual Giving Fund will provide Eagle Hill the means to continue to attract and retain remarkable faculty members. As teachers, advisors, coaches, and mentors, their responsibilities are an ambitious undertaking, worthy of competitive and fair compensation. 100% of Annual Giving Fund contributions support the faculty through the comprehensive faculty compensation initiative, adopted in 2004. A fair and transparent plan, the initiative recognizes Eagle Hill faculty for their outstanding commitment and allows for a life of middle class dignity, as well as to plan for a comfortable retirement.
Thank you for your ongoing support of these extraordinary men and women. Your investment ensures future Eagle Hill students will continue to tell stories of motivation, encouragement, and confidence thanks to our gifted faculty.
