EASA JOURNEYS Today Umbrella spent their time at the Art Colony, a brand new beautiful building and tranquil space. Lucky workshops in the space are the 36 Views of Nida and Blueprint.
WORKSHOP WATCH 36 views of Nida
LEO: EASA is a big family and you might have people who admire you, yet the toilet is probably the only throne you will be sitting on. Even that has competition. Try going outdoors.
We took a tour with the Curator Vytautas Michelkevicius and mediator Giedre Malukaite (pictured below). They explained the work of the colony and the current exhibition Hybrid Scapes. The exhibiton reflects the work of people who have been staying at the colony and their views on different landscapes of Nida.

NOCTURNE HOROSCOPES
EASA ATLAS OF ARCHITECTURE "speaking when you have something to say is like looking, but who looks? If people could see and see properly, and see whole, they would all be painters. And it is because people have no idea how to look they hardly ever understand" Pierre Bonnard quoted in Sarah Whitfield, ”Fragments of an Identical World,”
36 views of Nida have been finding the essence of a place through a chosen technique. One of the group’s chosen methods was to unroll brown paper over the landscape. Similar to the works of Christo and Jean Claude, it brought a new feeling to the space, and changed the focus. Pictured above are the maps created by combining everyone’s work so far.
On a single small piece of paper, draw/write/ do anything to show us your thoughts on the architecture of your country. All your answers will be posted on the umbrella bulletin board. Grab a pen and make sure your country doesn’t get left out!!

EASA TALKS
Today TAPALAND was Italian The topic of the day was Architecture on the move - Moving abroad and while cooking, people shared their experiences and point of view. Everybody is welcome to join future events to help to cook, to enjoy the food and discuss the topic from 5pm :)
Chef’s reviews:
Rytis Zemkauskas Journalist / Professor/ Writer/ Father/ Human Rytis gave an engaging lecture on our decisions, and what they should mean to us. He talked on themes of sacrifice and letting go. Are our decisions really ours? Making reference to The Girl on the Bridge, it is a decision to be not yet decided. For a better understanding read: Milan Kundera 'The Unbearable Lightness of Being' Abe Kobo 'The Woman in the Dunes'
“There’s always some magic in simple things” Egle “I would always de-seed tomatos but otherwise, great!” Mantas Bruschetta / tomato-oregano-garlic Ingredients: 120 slices of bread 30 tomatoes Fresh basil leaves Some garlic and in addition some dry oregano, olive oil extra virgin and salt.
HUMANS OF NIDA
If you go down to the woods tonight you’re sure of a big surprise... Some of the EASA couples looking for a secluded place to fornicate have been rather awkwardly bumping into each other in the woods at night. There’s never a bad time to make new friends though, is there?
Rob (IRE) admiring the Dune trenches The whole of team DREAM DUNE for stepping it up. While waiting for materials Dream Dune have been collaborating with their neighbour Dune to help them start the mammoth construction task! Go team!
GOSSIPCAT
One couple’s attempt at a passionate rendezvous in the EASA FM studio was completely ruined when their tossing about caused a heavy radio to fall on one of their heads. I suppose he had to face the music. The skinny-dipping-after-the-bar trend is continuing to thrive, and a long conga line to the beach last night recruited a flock of newcomers to the fleshy pastime. Kitty got her tits out.
Keep that juicy gossip coming folks! Send it to: umbrellanewspaper@ gmail.com

PEOPLE OF NIDA/NIDA ART COLONY Marika Troili, Stockholm (SWE) We found this charismatic artist on the terrace of artist’s paradise right here in Nida. We caught her carrying a big bunch of cardboard rolls in her hands. We knew at once her story will be interesting. This is not her first time here. Like so many colony residents, she couldn’t resist coming back time after time. In 2012 she spent 2 months in residence at the art colony, when she was attending few seminars and was part of INTERFORMAT SYMPOSIUM. Nida she described as being always different, always changing... She now has her ‘bookshelf’ as part of the HYBRID SCAPES exhibition. She started making it in June this year You still have time to visit the exhibition and even meet her, but hurry up; she is only here until Thursday. A day in the life: - Work in Studio - Go for a run - Eat dinner with friends
