SOUNDSCAPE
Soundscape have been working on collecting the sounds of Nida over the past week. They are mapping the places where they collect sound and will aim to make an online map for Nida by the end of EASA. You will be able to click on a site and listen to the recordings of that place. The sounds have been collected at all different times during the day and night. As an addition the group are also running listening sessions. Yesterday people listened to three compositions of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and made drawings with their eyes closed. Then the drawings were compared. Join each day around 4 in the afternoon in the slope hall.

BAUMIT WORKSHOP & LECTURE
EASA’s sponsor BAUMIT held a one day workshop yesterday afternoon at the main site, where the participants involved were shown demonstrations of their versatile product ‘CreativTop’. They were then asked to create a mural using the product, that would express the essence of Nida on one of the walls of the site. You may have noticed the giant cat with laser eyes that they chose to paint! The Baumit representatives held a lecture shortly afterwards to tell us more about the company and their life challenge competition for architects.
EASA FASHION
“Not every picture is made on purpose but every picture has a code inside it.“ Nikolay Staykov (Bulgaria)
Today the Atmosphere group began a series of performances in three locations, Nida town centre, the Dune and the forest. Bringing their cube into different contexts and performing within the space attracted a few of the local’s attention. The group made models and designed the space together thinking about the platform they wanted to create for interacting with.
“Sitting surreal.”
Roisin Crawley (Scotland)
BLUEPRINT The group have spent the first couple of days preparing their dark room as it it situated in a south facing room with a glazed wall. After learning the power of darkness they moved onto making Cyanotypes. To do this you coat paper with light sensitive emulsion, take it out to the sun to cover with things and then leave in the sun to expose. Once washed this produces the blueprints as shown above. Over the last few days, they have been shooting on 35mm film and developing and printing the images themselves. EXHIBITION ON FRIDAY!
“I liked the contrast between the lonely man and the old building next to him.” Gabija Strockyte (Lithuania)
