TIME FOR SALSA! Dancing is an essential part of EASA, as almost every night is saluted and waved bye-bye by dancing. Do the D.A.N.C.E., tells us this year's anthem by Justice, but do we all really know how to DANCE? Or, being more specific, how to dance SALSA? Probably not. Anyhow, EASA gladly welcomed the representatives of CLEA/ELEA this year, as it does always, but, what a coincidence,
this time it's GIRLS! Girls that know SALSA better than anything in the world (except architecture, of course). So Alejandra and her friends from Latin America decided to share their salsa experience with one of the outdoor workshops, CO:DEC. In the building's gate space (which is in the shadow, thank you Greek gods), every afternoon a salsa workshop begins. The CO:DEC participants leave their brushes,
spraycans, sketches and lines for some time and do the S.A.L.S.A... Just look at it. The tutors of SALSA workshop said they are more than satisfied with their participants, because everyone is very happy to learn some latin moves. We bet. And we are jealous. Jealous for not being so exclusive as CO:DEC!

ELEFSINA DPI_ Tutors: Xabier barrutieta, Gudiker beaskoa, Spain Participant: Elisa Maceratini, Italy The workshop is initially presented as a framework for research and analysis of the urban reality of Elefsina. The main instrument for capturing this information is digital photography and the transporta-
WORKSHOPS tion tool is the bicycle. This pictures, however, fit into one of the defined data collections: Macropictures -aimed to catch 1 pixel infos-, Joints -pixel to pixel relations-, Thematic - and Atmospheric views. Afterwards, the pictures are indexed by means of a keyword management software. Initially this data collection safari is focused on the coastline running along the Bay of Elefsina with the ambition of fram-
the coastline to shake the minds of the passer-bys when compared with the current situation. One more extensive exercise related to the Titan cement factory has also being carried out. The concept is to regain the coastline strip currently occupied by this factory and to solve the urban connectivity problems it brings about. Therefore a
LOST-FOUND Ailish from Ireland reported a lost phone the night before yesterday. It was a new type of Nokia, square... So you know what to do when you find one. Alex from the German team is missing his wallet. The last time he saw it was on the grass yesterday night during the Lounge session. It is a simple mens wallet, black, with money and documents inside it. Infopoint will gladly receive it from founders and give it to Alex. Thanks in advance!

SPORTS The basketball tournament yesterday was somewhat strange, because everybody was much more interested in volleyball, which was a blast. Anyhow, yesterday’s sports could not be called anything like European championships, because the nations were swapping as crazy, and teams usually consisted at least 3 different countries. In the end, both tournaments (basketball was really short!) ended with the victory of “Otoich village brothers”, and this has something to do with the Balkans...
FOUND!!! Declin from Ireland found some money in the sleeping area, so if it may be yours and you are sure about the amount, just ask him.

ing a catalogue of the different relations that urban and industrial areas have with the water. Practically was pretty difficult to do so, though, due to the fact that the industries build a cluster of restricted areas. The concept shifted then into the mapping of these gated areas in order to obtain a negative picture that shows the actual urban space. At this stage the analysis becomes more intense in the borders of the inhabited urban areas, so as to identify the single elements that build a complex spatial dividing buffer towards the coastline, i.e. walls, wide roads, industry, abandoned and restricted areas etc. The final step is to creatively react against this reality putting forward new visions of Elefsina based on strong architectural and urban ideas that will shake the fundaments of the established Elesfina in the quest of its new identity. These proposals seek to retrieve the urban waterfront and range from conceptual ground use strategies to urban space designs. The exercises will be presented in tridimensional views and installed in specific places of
new off-shore pier and a new spanning conveyor belt is proposed to permit the activity of the factory while regenerations starts. On a second stage, the mine, the site of the factory and the ancient ruins could form a leisure and cultural park cluster that would take over a central position in the city.
EDITORIAL
We hope everyone has seen Athens and been to Acropolis by now, also paid a visit to one of the numerous and oh so tempting islands around. This means, you are ready to put all your love and energy into the last hours of your workshops. As far as we have seen, many of the outcomes will be amazing, some of them will really suit Elefsina! And if you only knew what kind of feast was led yesterday by the FOOD workshop... Just for their private use, but still, impressive. Ask them about snails and matrioshka-melons, maybe they will tell you the story!

SOMETHING 4 D NUTS Majestically chilled I know a guy who’s cooler than a polar bear sipping ice tea in a freezer. The same could be said for yesterday evening’s program. The so-called ‘surprise party’ turned out to be a magically relaxed candle-lit lounge evening. The bar moved outdoors, the projection workshop showered us with images of Indians and plantations (umm... I think), the pool was wonderfully refreshing and the DJ was chilling the mood to a comfortable 5 degrees beyond cool. But it wasn’t like that all the time. The evening before was full of sweat, blood and perhaps even tears. The opening of the night was an overall sports carnage, which although having a shaky start with no participating teams, soon evolved into a proper championship, complete with trophies, winners, stars and Olympic flame. Although there were two tournaments planned, one of volleyball and another of basketball, only the volleyball got played in the end, mostly due to the fact that most competitors were in both teams. The competition took the form of a pyramid knock-out session and apart from the winners, the team Cmrlji needs to be commended for their valiant efforts, even though they were forced to leave the tournament already in the first round. At some point, though, the two stories merged into one, as the exhausted players cast aside their differences and joined together for a drink and a chat on one of the concrete cushions next to the bar. Final grade:
