This well-known art shop in the centre of Tavira was opened in 1992 by Albertina, known by everyone as Tina, hence the name 'Artina'. Tina originally sold made-to-measure picture and mirror frames and would sell them to various shops across the Algarve. Her first shop was located opposite the Grand Plaza shopping centre and moved to the current location, opposite the PSP Police station in 2001. Son, Pedro joined the family business in 1998, and with a great knowledge of English, is happy to help those of us who struggle with the Portuguese language. Artina really is the one-stop art shop! Stocking art supplies and paints such as oil, acrylics, water-color and washes, brushes, canvasses… you name it Artina can supply you. For the hobbyist, Artina have a huge selection of wools, fabrics and threads, along with accessories, they also still offer their framing service, stocking a number of frames in all styles. You will also find paintings from well-known local artists for sale, as well as decorative items for your home. In recent times, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, many people have made use of their extra spare time by taking up a hobby; Arts and crafts such as painting on different mediums like glass or fabrics, sewing or patchwork quilting.
