Volunteering
Volunteering East Street Arts welcomes volunteers as a crucial part of the team that enables the organisation to develop and deliver its activities. We recognise the need that volunteers fulfill, and offer meaningful and useful roles that meet the volunteers outlined needs. Volunteer experience for students and artists is a crucial part of their development in a sector where industry related skills and knowledge are as important as qualifications. It is a very competitive sector and anything that emerging artists can do to enhance their development is viewed by employees and commissioners positively. With this in mind it would be useful for you to think about the following points and be able to articulate what you need: Why do you want to volunteer at East Street Arts? How much do you know about the organisation? Have you done your research? How will this position help your development? What are your expectations? How long do you want to work with us for? Do you want a one off task, to help at a public event or a longer-term involvement? Where is your practice going? What area of our work will be more beneficial to you?
Volunteer
Is of very different scales; from a citywide event to a two hour discussion.
Takes place in a wide range of art and non-art spaces including our project spaces, temporary spaces and the public realm.
Is a mix of public events and activities that are targeted at professionals within the sector. Covers a wide range of art forms within the visual arts and increasingly includes elements of dance and music. Works with several partners and stakeholders. Is well funded or operating on very little or no budget. Is irregular and the organisation has periods of development with no external activity.
