EDITION 001

Nov. 2013

MeADOWVIEW mOMENTS The long awaited first edition of Meadowview Moments for the 2013-14 School Year is here! First, let me say how humbled and, at the same time, excited I am to have been given the opportunity to serve as Principal of Meadowview School. I have worked in education since 1998 as a special education teacher, teacher consultant, transition coordinator, supervisor and, currently, principal and planner/monitor. I also am married with three elementary-age children. In terms of my philosophy of education, it is important to know that I am intensely committed to doing all that it takes to help each student learn and achieve successful post-secondary outcomes. This mission began during my undergraduate work at Western Michigan University and became more focused as I worked with diverse, special needs populations in a wide variety of settings. I pursued a master’s degree in Special Education Administration and completed 30 credit hours beyond my masters to improve my understanding of learning abilities, styles, and approaches. As my youngest children (twins), entered pre-school, I left the classroom and served as a full-time special education supervisor and transition coordinator for Newaygo County RESA where I worked in five school districts at the secondary level, as well as supervising the county work-based learning program. All of these experiences, I believe, have prepared me to become the principal of your child’s school. I am passionate about children with special needs and have found that a career in special education is the most rewarding job of ALL! I look forward to partnering with each of you in the education of your child. Please know that my office door is always open, and of course, phone and email are good ways to reach me too. Warm Regards, Kelly Hager Principal, Meadowview School

Introducing, Mrs. Rebekah Craven, ECSE Teacher: Rebekah comes to us with a strong background in Early Childhood Education, and understanding of the varied needs of children with Autism.
