The Gathering group has continued to focus on the important traits that make the beef industry thrive and the offering is a reflection of that dedication. The sale offering has breed leading genetics and will be presented to you in a professional way. It is a positive time in our progressive beef world for Simmental cattle; we finally have the blessing of livestock markets and the ever important feedlot world to accept that Simmental genetics are right for the times. With that said, we have worked so hard to be at this point but cannot stop now being as hard on breeding decisions as ever. While the cattle are the focus of our industry, it is the people and the relationships formed that are at its heart. Our goal has been to breed the fundamentals of quality: power, presence, and balance and when you see them on April 2nd, we believe that you will agree that progress towards that goal has been made. 2016 marks the first time in several years that we have offered herd sire prospects in the sale. The 5 feature bulls are those that we believe have the pedigree and cow power behind them to be true cow improvers for their new owners. The Pays to Dream x LLSF Urababydoll bulls are full brothers to the popular LLSF Pays to Believe that has made his mark in the breed for style, look, and structure. The Upper Class sons of Double R Miss 29G T18 represent a powerful twist on a proven mating as they are 3/4 brothers to the Genex sire SVF Allegiance. Not only are we offering these outstanding herd sire prospects, but there is a full sister to each mating that offer worlds of potential as donor prospects. The fall calves are the highest quality group of show and donor prospects that we have offered yet. Many stem from donors in the Shoal Creek program as well as females that have highlighted past editions of The Gathering. Be sure to check out the calves sired by LLSF/VLF Reactor A40 as they are some of the ones that we are most excited about. Reactor has proven to sire cattle that are sound, big centered, and have that extra shot of look that we strive so hard to achieve. Many of the fall bred heifers carry his service. Every so often opportunities for success present themselves. These three herd sire prospects represent that opportunity on April 2nd as they are full brothers to LLSF Pays To Believe, the past North American and National Western Champion. LLSF Pays To Believe has been one that many breeders have turned to as the Pays To Dream son to use to sire sale topping females and complete herd bulls in programs across the country. We have always admired the Pays To Dream sired cattle for their balance, look, style, and extremely sound structure and this flush was loaded with all of that from the first one to the last. They were met with high hopes at calving and have been an exciting group to watch mature. C19 has shown to be the soft centered more moderate bull of the group. C11 was always the more extended stouter featured individual while C15 blends the body, look, and design of his brothers into a very appealing package. We’ll leave the sorting up to you as the quality runs deep through these three as well as their brother SC Paid In Full C4, the 2015 American Royal Reserve Champion Bull. We are retaining 1/2 semen interest on C15 and 1/3 semen interest on both C11 and C19.

Last year, our friend Ryan Ranes sold a pick out of this same flush for $15,000 to Smith Farms of Texas. Another opportunity for success comes forth in these two rugged and stout Upper Class sons out of the leading Double R and Sloup Simmental donor, Double R Miss 29G T18. They are molded a touch different than the other featured bulls this year and offer serious genetic potential for WW, YW, and ADG. Much like their sire, these two are the ones to look to for added body, growth, pounds, and stoutness. The solid black C8 presents himself with added length, extension, and loose structure, while the baldy C14 offers a slightly stouter shape that carries loads of dimension down his top and out through his hip. This Pays to Dream daughter comes to the Gathering as the first calf out of SS/PRS Precious Cotton 644A, a direct daughter of Kenco Miley Cottontail. Sharp, striking, square, and feminine are all words that come to mind here and they were exactly what we had in mind when we bred this one. She carries that trademarked Cottontail look through her front end with plenty of depth from end to end and combines it with a top 10 % API. She reminds me so much of her mother who was one of the most attractive and beautiful uddered first calf heifers last spring. While this may be 644A’s first entry into the Gathering, I’m positive it will not be her last.

Glamour C48 has been intriguing since day one. She was one of the youngest spring heifers born, but definitely one that has excelled in growth and power. Miss Clementine has excellent brood cow potential with her ideal size, deep rib and body capacity, and thickness. Her 12 year old dam has an excellent udder. 30C is very correct structurally. She had the largest ribeye of 14 replacement heifers and one of the heaviest yearling weights. She is good!

The mating of LLSF/VLF Reactor to HS/ HSF Shasha W909 really worked well here. C119’s dam was the high selling female and feature donor at last year’s Gathering Sale at $15,750 to Daryl Wentland of Oregon, while her maternal sisters were sale highlights that same day. The Reactor mating was one we had high hopes for and it has sure delivered. C119 is perhaps one of the most fault free daughters of the Shasha W909 donor that we have offered yet. You really have to appreciate the balance and combination of structure, body, and style. She’s definitely one that brings forth the presence, power, and balance that we strive for.

We bought Daphane’s dam at the Owen Brothers sale last year bred to One Eyed Jack. The cow originated at Shoal Creek and Adam told me she had one of their best bulls the previous year. Here’s an October heifer that we’ve had our eye on since the day she was born. Her dam, SC Insignia A148, is one of the most striking King Pin daughters we have and was a favorite of many visitors that saw her as a bred heifer this past summer. We don’t usually push to get an October heifer ready for the sale, but this Reactor daughter definitely deserves to be in the group. This bred heifer has all the look, front end and good lines that have come to be expected of the Goldi cow along with an added shot of shape, dimension, and width.
