The Governor Telegram November Edition for ECD Board

Hello Eastern Canada District Board Members, Committee Chairs and Kiwanians, Firstly, I want to congratulate the Lieutenant Governors who recently held a Fall Rally. From attending the Fall rallies in divisions 3 and 5, all I can say is that your enthusiasm is contagious! Thank you for your hard work! Currently, there seems to be a lot of interest for the chartering of new clubs. It’s vital that every single board member is familiar with the chartering process, so make sure to read the guide in the newsletter! As well, the beginning of November marked 2014’s Key Club Week. Although a lot of effort was put into using the week as a way of highlighting the accomplishments of various clubs throughout the District, there was not much interaction on our social media platforms. Next year, the District needs to start advertising at least three weeks in advance to entice interests from general members. Thank you for everything that you do for Key Club! Yours in Service,

Mona Adib

Let’s Talk about Dues…. If you’re anything like me, you are absolutely frightened by dues, not because they are difficult to pay, but because of QUESTIONS and QUESTIONS. With the December 1st deadline coming up extremely soon, it’s important to ensure that everyone on the board can answer any question that comes their way. How much are International dues? $7.00

-

How much are District dues? $6.50

WHY? “Cause, why not?” is not the right answer. Resources for club building, chartering and member recruitment District and club officer training materials Support for Districts and divisions Official Key Club website and social media accounts Weekly updates to members and advisors Key Club magazine (mailed to schools) Convention planning District and Club awards Liability insurance

Where can you pay for dues? MEMBERSHIP UPDATE CENER (MUC)

When should they be paid? As soon as possible. But December 1st at the latest.

Who should access the MUC? The advisor will be given info regarding login information. It is advised that the Faculty/ Kiwanis advisor deal with the finances, but the Club Secretary can update the online roster.

What if they still have questions? First refer them to the Dues Guide in this newsletter. If they still require assistance, please tell them to email Shelley or me. The sooner they solve their dues problems, the better.
