Jennifer Mevissen Forest Lake Times White Lace Cakes, LLC, a Minnesota-based company specializing in elegant and deliciously sophisticated custom cakes of distinction, has introduced a new item. The “vintage teacup cakes” join White Lace Cake’s array of custom cake options for bridal showers, bridesmaid gifts, book clubs or any luncheon or occasion that requires a fun and fancy tasteful dessert. “They’re elegant cakes in a cup in the literal sense,” says Deborah Wright, cake designer and operator of White Lace Cakes. “An upscale, sophisticated twist on the traditional cupcake.” They are most definitely not the simple cupcake you may be accustomed to. She explains they are actually petite layered cakes of the customer’s selection of cake flavor and buttercream filling from the White Lace Cakes website. The petite cake is then iced with either a poured or rolled fondant or chocolate Ganache and then elaborately decorated with hand created sugarpaste floral or other customized designs requested by the customer. The petite cakes are presented within an actual vintage teacup in a dainty eyelet paper surround. “My goal is to provide my customers with cake design options that are not only traditional, but also on trend and on taste,” said Wright. “They’re classy, yet fun.” In this age of paper disposables and mugs, she asks “How often do we actually have the opportunity to sip our coffee or tea from an authentic vintage teacup and point our pinky…while enjoying a moist, delicious piece of cake? “You can eat your cake,” Wright says, “and have your teacup too!”

Sparks explained Delta Vacations gives the bride and groom a rebate for every hotel room booked for their wedding. She explained the company also gives discounts to the wedding guests for their vacation packages since it’s part of a wedding. “We can handle all the details for destination weddings,” Quarnstrom said. “We have been doing this since 1985 and we can provide personal travel experience, as well as experiences from our customers.” ALCA Travel can also help plan a bride and groom’s dream honeymoon, and couples should contact their travel agency five to six months ahead of time for planning the honeymoon. Sparks explained Sandals® Resorts and couplesonly resorts remain popular honeymoon destinations due to their all-inclusive packages. “These resorts cater toward honeymooners and provide a romantic atmosphere for the newlyweds on their honeymoon,” Sparks explained. A couple planning a destination wedding should
contact their travel agency nine to 10 months prior to the wedding. “This gives us time to work with the couple to find out what their interests are, what they like to do on vacation and their expectations for their destination wedding,” Quarnstrom said. “We can work with them to find out what they are looking for if they don’t have a destination in mind, and try to find that perfect place for them.” With destination weddings and honeymoons, ALCA Travel is there to take care all of the couple’s needs. “While a couple is travelling or on vacation, if something goes wrong or they need to get a hold of us, we are here,” Quarnstrom explained. “Basically if the couple needs something or something needs to be corrected, all it will take us is one phone call to make it right. On occasion, we will have couples call us with a problem, but if they didn’t book their vacation with us, we can’t help them. We are here to make vacations as pleasurable as possible.” ALCA Travel also recommends using a travel agency because they will watch for best prices. ALCA Travel can also help couples work within their specific budgets. “We will often get notified about specials and discounts that we can offer to our clients that aren’t

One of the more romantic honeymoons Sparks recently planned was for a couple honeymooning in Sicily in Italy. “The couple wanted something a little different and we got them excellent rates on a really nice hotel because it was off-season,” Sparks said. “When we make a booking for a couple we specifically mention if it’s for a wedding or honeymoon because often times the couple will get free upgrades. This couple in Sicily got a free upgrade on their hotel room because the hotel knew they were travelling for their honeymoon.” As far as weddings and honeymoons in the United States, Las Vegas, Florida, San Antonio and Colorado in the summer months remain popular destinations. “We want the couples trip to be an experience, not just a trip,” Quarnstrom explained. “And everything starts with that first consultation. Services at WillowBridge Center can be given as gifts, too. For instance, parents of the bride or groom could provide a wellness gift for the first six months of marriage or a couples massage for post-wedding. “A lot of times people get done with their wedding and it’s very anticlimactic,” Edoff said. “They’ve been focusing on their wedding for so long and now they can focus on being a couple.” Life coaching can teach newlyweds how to start their life as a married couple, Edoff explained, giving people the tools to lead their best life.
