Béal Beo uses a combination of textbooks, animations and innovative interactive resources, delivering an exciting and forward-thinking approach to teaching Irish.

Each level of Béal Beo is made up of three key components:

A Pupils’ Textbook Integrates the combined strands: listening, reading, writing, speaking and oral language

Digital Resources Includes animations, interactive activities and CDs

A Teacher’s Resource Book Provides monthly schemes, daily lessons, phonics material, revision activities and assessments

A progressive new Irish Language Programme for 3rd to 6th Class The Béal Beo Programme Béal Beo is a new Irish Language Programme written and designed to cover the ten themes of the curriculum. The combined strands of listening, speaking, reading and writing underpin the programme, and oral language is emphasised throughout.

The programme brings Irish-language teaching into the modern world with attractive animations and online interactive resources to teach a new and digitally driven generation.

A Pupils’ Textbook l

The Béal Beo pupils’ book is central to the programme and contains engaging stories with relevant and current material to suit each age group.

Each lesson begins with a conversation page, ‘Labhair Linn’, from which the weekly work is developed l Drama is used as a teaching method in the grammar sections to make it enjoyable and to reinforce points of grammar l Repetition and expansion of vocabulary and feidhmeanna teanga throughout support both revision and development of the language. l The textbook is designed to be both teacher- and child-friendly, with symbols to highlight where additional digital resources are available. l

Digital Resources A wide range of engaging digital resources is integrated with the pupils’ book, including: l A CD of reading texts and songs/poems l Animations based on stories and conversations from the pupils’ book l Karaoke-style animated songs l Interactive games and activities available online l Online posters for each theme

A Teacher’s Resource Book A detailed Teacher’s Resource Book provides a variety of supplementary material, including: l Editable monthly schemes which enable comprehensive planning for your class and outline opportunities for differentiation, assessment and integration l Daily lessons that outline activities provided in the pupils’ book, supplementary games, interactive material, drama and assessment l Phonics material l Revision activities l Assessment based on each theme and additional assessment activities to cover specific teaching points, e.g. feelings, time, etc. l Thematic, photocopiable material to reinforce learning objectives and provide opportunities to develop independent learning.
