There are some small differences between the Spanish spoken in Latin America and the Spanish spoken in Spain. Think of some differences between British English, American English and the English spoken in Ireland – there are pronunciation differences and some vocabulary is different. So if you were looking for a lift in a Spanish airport, you would follow the sign for el ascensor, but in an airport in South America, you would look for a sign saying el elevador.
