Elise is named Sportswoman of the Year
Next up is Winter Olympics
W
EST LOTHIAN speed skater Elise Christie has been named the Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year 2017 at an awards ceremony in London.
It’s not all glamour for Meg who proves it’s not just a man’s world

ELL done to Meg Wright, from Linlithgow, who has succeeded in what, up until now, has largely been a maledominated occupation.
Meg is a class above the rest
Amie is Miss European Princess A WEST LOTHIAN girl has won the title of Miss European Princess.
Elise, from Livingston, is a favourite to pick up medals at next year’s Winter Olympics, in Pyeongchang. The speed skater, who is pictured collecting her award, said she hadn’t even expected to be nominated, never mind win the award. But it’s a well-deserved award for Elise, who won three World titles in Rotterdam earlier this year, picking up golds in the 1000m, 1500m and overall event. Elise has worked incredibly hard to overcome her disappointment in the last Winter Olympics. She beat Johanna Konta to the Sportswoman of the Year award, the tennis player picking up second spot. Taekwondo star Bianca Walkden was third.
But Meg has always loved cars and driving, along with the other big love in her life, which is keeping fit by pole dancing. And she no longer has to put up with unwelcome jokes about women drivers. Meg’s definitely got the last laugh.
Glamorous young Meg recently passed her HGV Class 1 Licence Now Meg can be found hauling the biggest lorries you can find on the road up and down the length of the country. It’s a big change from Meg’s previous occupation, when she was a dental nurse.
Amie Nicol, from Deans, won the title in Malta, after she went over as part of the Scottish team competing in the Miss European event. “ I had the most amazing experience over in Malta,” said Amie. I don’t have enough words for my experience. I will keep it with me forever.”
