Where are your kids? FOLLOWING incidents of anti-social behaviour in the north of Livingston, police are appealing for parents assistance in ensuring that they are aware of where their children are in the evenings. Similar fire-raising incidents have recently been happening in Murieston too.

Police appeal for information following Murieston assault

HE incident took place around 6.30pm on the footpath that runs to the rear of the houses at Wester Bankton towards Murieston East Road.

A 16-year-old female walking her dog was approached by a male who punched her to the ground and continued to strike her as she lay there. She sustained bruising and swelling to her face and head as a result of the assault. The suspect ran off in the direction of Murieston East Road. Officers are now appealing for information that can assist them in tracing this individual. He is described as a white male in his late teens, about 5ft 7in tall, of stocky build. He has freckles across his cheeks and nose, dark blue eyes, ginger hair which was short at the back and sides and long and messy on top with a fringe. He was wearing a grey Adidas hooded tracksuit with blue stripes down the arms and legs, a dark-grey round neck T-shirt, and black canvas trainers with white Nike flashes and white soles. Inspector Adam Smith of Livingston police station said: “We are very concerned about this unprovoked assault which has left the young victim extremely shaken and distressed. “We are committed to finding the person responsible and I would urge anyone who may have witnessed anything, or has any information, to get in touch.”

Extra time at New faces show up for MEG cricket club Livingston Cricket Club’s Kingfisher Bar has undergone a bit of a refurbishment. The club has made a new investment in new tables, chairs and stools to make the bar an even more welcoming place! The Bar opening hours have been extended to open from 5pm on a Friday, from Friday 5 May. More good news for Murieston.

Electric services set for 2019 Put Your West Foot Forward: Join us on our free walks to meet new friends, discover new walks in your area and improve your fitness. Our walks are led by trained walk leaders and last between 30-60 minutes. Come along to Livingston South railway station at 7pm on Wednesday 7 June (6.45pm for first-timers) for a mystery walk. AFTER an appeal, several new faces turned up to the Murieston Environmental Group (MEG) latest committee meeting.

ELECTRIC services will be introduced on the EdinburghGlasgow Central via Livingston South following completion of the work in 2019 and will offer improved reliability and increased capacity for passengers, according to Network Rail. Carillion Powerlines Ltd has won the contract to deliver the electrification of the Shotts line between Holytown Junction and Midcalder Junction. Network Rail says it is on target to deliver the next phase of electrification of central Scotland’s railway network, between Holytown

and Midcalder junctions – which will complete the electrification of the ‘Shotts Line’ between Edinburgh and Glasgow by March 2019. Work will also see the complete redevelopment of Livingston South railway station.
