Sunday 23rd September Loving Vincent UK (2017) 1 hr 37 mins Dir: Dorota Kobiela, Hugh Welchman Loving Vincent takes place a year after Vincent van Gogh’s death following Armand Roulin as he investigates what exactly caused van Gogh to take his own life. We follow Armand as he explores the people and places surrounding Vincent in his final weeks. The entire film was hand painted in oil by over 125 different artists bringing about 80 of Vincent’s most famous paintings to life

Cinema Obscura Sunday 9th December Pulp

UK (1972) 1 hr 46mins Dir: Mike Hodges Michael Caine follows up his role of Jack Carter (in Hodges’ Get Carter) by playing a pulp novelist Mickey King enlisted to ghost write an autobiography of a mystery celebrity on Malta. His client turns out to be a former actor (Mickey Rooney) well known for gangster roles but soon to die. King soon finds his commission more complicated than he first imagined.

Films in the second half of our 2018 -19 season (in brief) Sunday 13th January 2019: Happy End (15) France / Germany 2017 Dir: Michael Haneke "All around us, the world, and we, in its midst, blind". A snapshot from the life of a bourgeois European family – expect the unexpected as this is a film by Michael Haneke. Sunday 10th February 2019: Zama (15) Argentina 2018 Dir: Lucrecia Martel Zama, an officer of the Spanish Crown born in South America, waits for a letter from the King granting him a transfer from the town in which he is, to a better place. Sunday 10th March 2019: Berlin Syndrome (15) Australia/ France 2017 Dir: Cate Shortland A passionate holiday romance leads to an obsessive relationship, when an Australian photojournalist wakes one morning in a Berlin apartment and is unable to leave. Sunday 14 April 2019: Summer 1993 (12A) Spain 2017 Dir: Carla Simón Based on the director's own childhood. In the summer of 1993, following the death of her parents, six year old Frida moves from Barcelona to the Catalan countryside to live with her aunt and uncle.
