In the realm of aesthetics, Revay Plunkett, RN, BSN, is one of Fresno’s best-kept secrets. She has always known her calling was to care for others, and she has transformed that childhood passion into a thriving career as an aesthetic injector and laser specialist. The Central Valley is fortunate to have in her the kind of provider one would typically find in Beverly Hills. Revay’s caring nature and commitment to helping others look and feel their best, coupled with an encompassing background in dermatology, make her one of the most sought-after aesthetic nurses in the area. Behind her stunning appearance and immaculate skin lies an inspiring individual anyone would be fortunate to know.

As the daughter of a single mother, Revay reflects, “My grandparents had five kids, and out of those five kids, I’m the only granddaughter. All my cousins are boys!” As the only girl, she recalls taking on a nurturing role, always ready to lend a helping hand to her young male cousins. “And so I knew,” this Clovis native shares about her calling. “Not everybody knows what they want to do. I’m one of those weird anomalies where I never had a plan B. From a very early age, people would ask me, ‘What do you want to do?’ And I’m like, ‘I’m going to be a nurse.’ That was pretty clear.”

Throughout junior high and high school, Revay’s class choices were based on her nursing aspirations. She enrolled in a program that allowed students to attend other campuses for specialized learning, where she gained early exposure to subjects like physical therapy and how the body works. Although Revay attended Clovis High, she also spent part of her school year at Buchanan to pursue a medical-focused curriculum. “It was called Step to College, and I started taking anatomy and physiology and communications. So when I graduated high school, I actually already had like 12 college credits,” says Revay. She then went on to California State University, Fresno, where those preliminary courses allowed her to start a semester ahead.

Due to the high demand for local nursing programs and her desire to earn a Bachelor’s degree, Revay pursued her education at National University. “I was a part of their second cohort,” she recalls. “It was a brand-new program, and I already had all my prereqs done from Fresno State, so it was automatically a Bachelor to Bachelor program. I was able to start at National, and it was an accelerated program. It was full-time for two years.” However, Revay’s life was not solely focused on academics. “In the meantime, I did things backwards. … I had two kids. I had my first one at 21 and my second at 23. They did it with me! They were young, but my kids remember going through school with me. And I’m currently in the NP program, and so we’re doing it again!”

Revay is back in school at West Coast University, which offers a nurse practitioner program that spans three years—she’ll complete it this year. “Unlike my nursing school, where I was able to dedicate my full-time attention to school, I now have a business, and I have two kids now that are also in college.” Revay Aesthetics in Fresno is like another child to her. While she always knew nursing was her true calling, her specialty evolved over time. Given her family history of heart problems, she initially considered a career in cardiac telemetry. However, her own experience with fair skin and sun sensitivity heightened her awareness of dermatology. “I have really, really fair skin, and growing up I couldn’t sit in the sun—I get really, really burnt and sun sick. And so I have a ton of freckles. My mom has had like 50 skin cancers. It’s kind of outrageous. So early on, I was so aware of skin just because I had to wear sunscreen. I’m kind of a shade-chaser,” she divulges with a giggle.

As someone who is “three shades of pink on any given day,” Revay became acutely aware of skin fragility from a young age. “I hated my freckles. People are like, ‘They’re angel kisses!’ I’m like, ‘They’re sun damage—they’re not angel kisses. A lot of burns got this!’” At around age 20, she visited a medical office in The Palatine Building that did IPL, which Revay explains as “a laser on your arms to help take out the brown.” She continues, “And I asked the girl, ‘What are you?’ And she’s like, ‘Oh, I’m a registered nurse.’ I enjoyed it so much because it made me feel so much

better about an insecurity. It didn’t matter what anybody else thought—it was just something that bothered me. You go in every eight weeks or so for a session, and by the end of it, I kind of joked with her, saying, ‘Girl, I’m going to have your job by the time we’re done!’ just because I loved it so much.”

This marked the beginning of the “happy nurse,” as Revay calls it. “When you’re dealing with the heaviness of medicine, there’s a lot that comes along with it.” She gives examples of caring for aging parents or individuals nearing the end of life. “I am so thankful for every different type of nurse out there—we have our oncology nurses and nurses that deal with cancer and children. That’s not who I am. I wanted my patients to want to come see me. I wanted them to feel better when they came to see me. So, when people say, ‘I work in the ICU,’ I’m like, ‘Oh you’re a real nurse!’ Because for me, I’m a happy nurse. My patients love coming to see me. When they walk out of my clinic, they have a feeling of confidence and their walk is a little bit different. I am so passionate about making people feel better in their own skin. It’s not about what other people even think—that’s really where I feel like aesthetics has gotten off track.”

While other recent nursing graduates were securing internships at hospitals, Revay approached a local dermatologist and offered to work for free to gain experience. She has since remained in medical dermatology. The joy of helping people improve their acne scars, sun damage, and psoriasis marks became her passion, and with the broad range of medical therapies, she was introduced to performing laser treatments. One connection led to another, landing her a position at a top Fresno office known for having the most lasers in town. She worked there for about seven years before moving to LA. Down there, she met a celebrity dermatologist who offered her a job the same day they met, impressed by her extensive knowledge of lasers.

At this point, Revay had solidified her dermatology background and laser expertise. However, while she contemplated opening her own practice, she recognized a gap in her skill set: injectables. So, for two years, she commuted back and forth from the Central Valley to Los Angeles twice a week for that Beverly Hills job. While the commute wasn’t ideal, it placed her alongside the elite in the aesthetics field. “I was able to throw myself into the best of the best and really start understanding how if you combine lasers, what can you get with them? If you combine modalities, how accelerated can you make those results? And so instead of just doing one treatment, if you really dive into it, you can get ‘wows’ and not just mediocre results.”

After two years, it was time. Revay returned to the Central Valley and worked for a plastic surgeon. However, she realized that plastic surgeons are more about cutting through skin than studying it, which has always been her priority. At that point, she knew it was time to establish her own practice. She had already purchased two laser devices, and, while in LA, had begun to successfully grow her “Nurse Revay” Instagram page organically, so her branding was already in motion. She took two months to regroup before launching her enterprise.

Revay Aesthetics opened its doors on February 1st, 2020. A month later, the world came to a screeching halt due to the pandemic, but not for Revay. Since she’d opened the practice with a psychologist, their business was deemed essential. The rise of Zoom meetings led to an influx of appointments from individuals dissatisfied with their appearance on camera. Initially located in The Atrium, Revay Aesthetics moved to its current location at Maple and Herndon Avenues in Fresno by the second year.

I’m not a “yes” woman. My most powerful word is “No. You don’t need it. Save your money on that. Use a retinol, and then let’s retouch on that when you actually need it.” For me, it really is a holistic approach to aesthetics. It’s a multidimensional, multimodality approach.

Revay likens aesthetics to building a house. “You have your foundation; that’s what holds your house up. Then you have the beams, which keep it from caving in. And then you have what your house aesthetically looks like from the outside. Those are three separate layers. So you have to look at the face as a whole.” We are entering the age of undetectable injectables, which means softened transitions and a holistic approach to facial balancing, which Revay specializes in for clients of all ages. “Did she or didn’t she? That’s the best result. If you post something and someone asks, ‘Hey, did you go get this done today?’ That’s not a good job!” Revay comments.

Injectables and treatments must be paired with proper, effective skincare to achieve optimal results. This is why Revay emphasizes a comprehensive approach with every client. “Everything’s connected—the forehead, the temples,” she explains. “You can’t just do cheeks. You can’t just treat one thing. You have to look at it and then understand what you’re doing. Do the least amount possible when you’re young. Use devices, use things that are going to be energy-based that are going to actually cause a cellular change to your DNA, that are going to make you more useful.” Skin is the body’s largest organ, and its quality is crucial to overall health and aging. “You can be 20 years old and have 40-year-old-looking skin—no amount of Botox and fillers is going to fix that.”

So, what’s in Revay’s personal skincare arsenal? Product-wise, she cannot live without AnteAGE MD Growth Factor Solution (which contains pro-healing, anti-inflammatory growth factors), Skinbetter Science AlphaRet Body Overnight Cream (for skin crepiness), and, of course, a physical sunblock. Treatment-wise, she loves a combination of BroadBand Light and MOXI lasers (which, together, remove reds and browns and make skin look more uniform). Her morning routine involves cleansing and applying serums, hydration, and sunscreen (even on cloudy days). At night, she performs a double cleanse, uses retinol and/or targeted treatments, applies serums, and adds more hydration. Once or twice a week, she enjoys a good mask or a caffeine eye treatment to reduce puffiness.

“Don’t use ‘everything under the kitchen sink,’” she advises. “This is where consistency is key! Your skin says a lot about your health. You can’t work out once a week and expect the body you want and the same goes for skincare.” Regular exercise, at least three times a week, is essential for her. “I stretch before bed every night (for about five minutes) and try to focus on lowering my heart rate. True stress-relief doesn’t come from gym workouts or having drinks with friends.” In fact, she finds rejuvenation through travel. “Many people equate self-love to traditional routines like spa days or physical activities, but taking intentional breaks to disconnect from the day-to-day grind (socially, digitally, etc.) always helps ground me and puts into perspective what’s important,” she shares. “It allows me to stay focused, keep my head down, and stay in my own lane. The 40s are my best era yet, and I’m just getting started!”

Aging gracefully begins with simple, consistent steps. “Vitamin C, retinol, sunscreen—anti-aging-101 basics, right? You don’t need to spend a million dollars when you’re young. But if you can get into those good habits and then use your devices, use the filler and the neurotoxins sparingly, and then you’re able to age more gracefully,” Revay advises. “I’m not a ‘yes’ woman. My most powerful word is ‘No. You don’t need it. Save your money on that. Use a retinol, and then let’s retouch on that when you actually need it.’ For me, it really is a holistic approach to aesthetics. It’s a multidimensional, multimodality approach.”

Revay Plunkett is much more than a “happy nurse.” She empowers individuals to put their best face forward, fully aware that each aesthetic journey is independent. “This is where people get off base. There’s no blanket.” Revay guides her patients through their own unique aesthetic journeys with tailored beauty programs for every need. “My passion for lasers is my key with aesthetics,” she asserts. With nearly fifteen years of experience in laser treatments, she remains committed to staying at the forefront of new aesthetic offerings. “And if I’m going to do it to somebody, I’m going to try it!” she says with a laugh. “I’ve done it all.” This is why she can confidently tell someone they don’t need a particular treatment. Revay is dedicated to helping people look and feel their best with the latest devices and injectables, yet she wholeheartedly believes that “Less is more.”

I’m a happy nurse. My patients love coming to see me. When they walk out of my clinic, they have a feeling of confidence and their walk is a little bit different. I am so passionate about making people feel better in their own skin. It’s not about what other people even think—that’s really where I feel like aesthetics has gotten off track.

healthy SLIMMING

Weight loss medications aren’t exactly new, but they have recently gained significant attention. There is a surge of interest in semaglutides and tirzepatides for weight loss among people. With multiple applications and widespread positive feedback, these drugs offer various benefits. However, it is crucial to educate yourself before seeking a prescription. When it comes to slimming down, it’s essential to do so in a healthy manner.

Medications for weight loss have been around since the 1940s, when amphetamines were first used to boost energy and suppress appetite. However, their potential for addiction eventually became apparent. In 1959, the FDA approved phentermine, a new central nervous system stimulant, for weight loss, and over the decades, a slew of other drugs trickled into the market.

By the early 2000s, medications intended for diabetes management were also found to be effective in treating obesity. This begs the question, “What are the newer weight loss medications?” poses Dr. Juan Bautista of Bautista Health & Anti-Aging in Fresno. Included in the list of brand-name semaglutides and tirzepatides are Ozempic, Mounjaro, Wegovy, and Zepbound, to name a few.

Numerous factors determine whether someone is an ideal candidate for weight loss medications. At the forefront are patients who struggle with cravings and portion control, as these drugs target those issues. “The contrary would be a patient that actually has a very slow metabolism. Someone who says, ‘Doctor, I really don’t eat that much, and I still feel like I’m gaining weight.’ Those patients probably aren’t candidates. These [meds] are more so for patients that maybe have a family history of diabetes or, again, have difficulty with cravings and portion control,” Dr. Bautista explains.

It’s important to note that these medications work in multiple ways. “It works on decreasing inflammation,” Dr. Bautista begins. “There’s a big article recently published at Oxford that showed a decrease in Alzheimer’s by almost 86%. These studies have been shown to decrease the risk of heart disease and strokes. … And then, the one that is obviously how it got started, with regulating insulin. … These aren’t really new medications. These are medications that are just kind of getting better.”

Weight loss medications used to be administered once a day, and that was the norm for about fifteen years. However, the general consensus was that patients were hesitant to take daily injections due to the misconception that they were similar to taking insulin. “By making it a once-a-week injection, the compliance just got much better,” Dr. Bautista shares. “I would say probably within the last three to four years, it’s really become popular.”

Most weight loss medications are administered via injection, but the semaglutide Rybelsuscan be taken orally. “It did have a really good trial for diabetes, but it didn’t get the same effects as for weight loss. And one of the reasons we think that is because semaglutide and tirzepatide are what are called peptides,” Dr. Bautista explains. “Peptides are a chain of amino acids which give a message, a signal. Insulin is a peptide. It was actually the first peptide synthesized. So they tend to work better when they’re given through injection, subcutaneous injection, because it’s cleaved really quick in the body.”

Maintenance regimens vary for each individual. For many, once they reached their desired weight and discontinued medication, cravings and poor portion control often returned. “So many doctors started giving a maintenance dose, which could be once a month, twice a month, or every other week,” Dr. Bautista remarks.

MMany people experience additional benefits from peptides beyond weight loss, such as reduced inflammation and joint pain. “Everywhere from rheumatology to primary care, internal and family medicine have really seen a benefit of keeping patients on a low dose maintenance, not only for weight, but also for comfort of the patient,” Dr. Bautista notes. “They’ll discuss less cravings for cigarettes and alcohol, which is big. So a lot of people will end up doing very well because, again, using what are called peptides—it’s working on your body’s own signals.”

“Because it’s such a popular medication for people who want to lose weight, there are side effects. The main one being—and it was a study that was done with Wegovy initially—the loss of muscle mass,” Dr. Bautista points out. “As we get older, we start eating less meat, a lot of us. And in reality, our protein requirements increase. So if you’re eating less protein, you’re eating less altogether with something like Wegovy (semaglutide) or Zepbound (tirzepatide). You have to be careful that you’re not losing muscle mass. We call that sarcopenia.”

A good doctor will monitor the broader implications of weight loss medications. “It’s more than just weight,” asserts Dr. Bautista. “You can lose a lot of muscle mass, which can, in reality, be also detrimental to your health. We know there are studies with lots of muscle mass and not only osteoporosis, but things such as Alzheimer’s.” It’s crucial that people who are taking weight loss medications maintain their muscle mass and engage in regular exercise, combining portion control with cardiovascular fitness. “You want someone that definitely is involved with their patients,” he says. “We want to make sure that people aren’t just starving themselves with their exercises.”

Risk stratification is a great starting point when considering weight loss medication options. Doctors should ideally assess your BMI, nutritional habits, exercise routines, metabolism, and family history of diabetes and obesity. “Where is this patient at now health wise? Are they just struggling with cravings? Are they struggling because they don’t know how to eat properly? Does diabetes run in their family? Those are all important questions to ask,” says Dr. Bautista. “My goal is really emphasizing that you have to do this along with exercise and nutrition.”

While all patients can benefit from a healthy gut from the outset, those with gastric issues must be particularly mindful that weight loss medications can cause severe constipation. If you plan to travel or undergo surgery, you may need to stop taking said medications for a doctor-recommended period. “The root we see in practice is that it’s really not dose-dependent. Some people do very, very well in low doses and some people require high doses. Everybody’s unique,” reiterates Dr. Bautista.

“Learning what your resting metabolic rate is, how your body processes food, your digestion—those are all important factors not only for your success with things such as semaglutides, but also your comfort with it. Because if you and I took Ozempic, Wegovy, semaglutide, and we’re losing weight, but we’re miserable, it’s not going to be very fun. You can make it a much better experience by knowing and expecting some of these things and working on it,” says Dr. Bautista.

Life happens, and it’s important to be present with the best mind and body possible. If you plan to visit family over the holidays and want to indulge in tamales and stuffing, consider skipping your dose that week, Dr. Bautista suggests. “Those are all things that if you know in advance, in my opinion, makes it a much more pleasurable experience with a lot less side effects.”

Interestingly enough, “a lot of these medications actually started for neurodegenerative disorders,” Dr. Bautista adds. “You’ll see is a lot of us doctors put some of our elderly patients on very low dose Ozempic, low dose Mounjaro. We’re not trying to get the weight loss because we need those older patients eating, but we’re seeing such a benefit in some of their neurocognitive diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s in the hospital. Many people call Alzheimer’s type three diabetes. Isn’t that amazing? So there’s a lot more coming down the pipeline with these patients.”

With increased demand comes a responsibility to use these medications appropriately. “Of course, it’s about using it properly. It’s about informing the patient, but also for that patient to be invested as well and say, ‘We’re doing this for neurocognitive protection, for cardiac protection.’ We’re going to stick with low, low doses.” Dr. Bautista continues, “We’re using it for weight loss. But we’re also going to work on nutrition, protein intake, and exercise. So those are all things that I think are very, very important for patients to know—that it’s not just giving medication and losing weight.”

Being your own advocate and understanding how weight loss medications work is imperative. Dr. Bautista explains, “If there’s a demand for it, there are going to be people that give it. But you have to look in the mirror and say, ‘We’re doing a good job.’ And I think there are plenty of doctors in the Central Valley and across the US that are doing a great job. There are always going to be outliers. But as a patient, though, you should always be an advocate for yourself, too. If there’s a medication that you’re going to take, you should read up on it and understand how it works so that you can expect some of the side effects.”

Dr. Behr holds positions on the Medical Advisory Boards of Allergan, MERZ, Revance, BTL, and Alastin. PRIORITIZING TRANSPARENCY

However, just because we have the capability to do it all doesn’t mean we always will. If a patient’s desired outcome doesn’t align with our approach, or if we feel we cannot meet their expectations, we won’t proceed with the treatment just for the sake of a transaction—patient satisfaction and well-being are our top priorities. This longstanding commitment to upholding an excellent standard of care led us to become one of only 23 practices in the United States selected as a site for the prestigious ASDS Cosmetic Dermatologic Surgery Fellowship Program beginning in 2021. We have since been fortunate to have two outstanding fellowship-trained dermatologists, who completed the program under Dr. Behr’s mentorship, join our expert team.

While both share a commitment to enhancing clients’ natural beauty and boosting confidence, Behr Body has a tailored ambiance and focuses on treatments designed to address body confidence concerns. While Behr Body houses most of our body contouring devices and specialized staff, patients can still access weight management and muscle toning services at Behr Laser & Skin Care Center. Many of our injectors also practice at both locations. Behr Body enables a combination of body treatments with injectables in a single appointment. We encourage our patients to become familiar with both locations and take advantage of the benefits each has to offer.

TAILOR-MADE TREATMENTS

Behr uniquely tailors its programs to meet each client’s individual needs through personalized, one-on-one consultations designed to create a customized, long-term plan for graceful aging. We place a strong emphasis on building relationships with our clients, recognizing that they are entrusting us with their cosmetic care, and it is our priority to ensure they feel comfortable and supported throughout their entire experience. Understanding that most concerns are multifactorial, we offer a holistic approach that combines multiple treatments for optimal results—all conveniently performed in one location.

BEST SELF FORWARD

Enhancing, not altering: the goal is to highlight their natural beauty, making them appear refreshed, radiant, and more rejuvenated without losing their individuality and essence of who they are—like the effect of a good night’s sleep. FIT from within

Eating better and working out more are two of the most common New Year’s resolutions. When thinking of nutrition and building muscle, visions of nutritionists and trainers often come to mind. And while it’s always great to seek the knowledge of professionals, cultivating healthy lifestyle habits can be accomplished on your own time, at your own pace, and in your own way. It’s about finding what works best for your body, time, and lifestyle.

An overall healthy lifestyle shouldn’t feel overwhelming because that’s when it becomes a chore, rather than something you look forward to doing. “Building muscle and gaining strength requires consistent nutrition and fitness habits,” insists trainer Jason Beard of JB Fitness in Clovis. “Whatever your goals, your eating and activity level can be adjusted to help achieve those milestones. Your diet for muscle gain requires strategic shifts in how you move and nourish your body.”

It’s essential to understand that proper nutrition and muscle health are dependent upon each other. “First and foremost, adequate calories are a priority for gaining muscle and fueling the resistance training sessions that help with building muscle,” he cites. Calorie intake needs vary drastically from person to person, as age, gender, and average daily mobility look different for everyone. Yet across the board, “Lifting weights and resistance training is the most important factor for building muscle.”

Understanding the various types of food intake is a fundamental step to a healthy lifestyle. “Protein is the key recovery nutrient, while carbohydrates help with ensuring adequate calories and energy to fuel training sessions,” Jason explains. “Fat is not particularly anabolic like protein and carbs can be, but fats provide calories and help support hormone levels, so they’re certainly essential. Dietary protein is the most important macronutrient for building muscle, specifically the essential amino acids.”

Some trendy diets, like keto, demonize carbs, but “Carbs are important for energy during tough workouts,” ensures Jason, noting that without enough carbs, “you’ll have a hard time getting the most out of your resistance-training sessions. Specifically, fueling with carbs before and after an intense sweat session can quickly replenish energy stores and promote even more musclebuilding potential.” Carbs come in many forms, some more healthy than others. Sure, donuts have plenty of carbs, but you’ll get more overall nutrients from carb-rich foods like whole grains and fruits.

The same concept is at play with fats. “While dietary fats may not play a huge role in building muscle, they are important for maintaining hormonal function and a healthy immune system. A fat-free diet can impede muscle growth in a person who vigorously exercises,” Jason warns. This is why healthy fats, like avocado and olive oils, nuts, seeds, eggs, and oily fish, are all key components of a balanced diet.

Building healthy diet and exercise habits takes time and a thorough comprehension of your own body. Knowing what works for you and what doesn’t takes some trial and error. However, “Consistency is the key,” Jason says with conviction. “Nutrition and fitness goals aren’t met overnight. Patience and consistency are the most important tools for sustainability. How long it takes to see change is highly varied from person to person. It may take months to see minimal gains. Trust the process, be patient, and stay consistent.” With a well-balanced food intake and regular physical activity, being fit from within is within reach at any age.

ESTABLISHED NAME, NEW LIFE

The story of New Life Recovery began in the summer of 2022 when Matt Niswander, now Co-Founder & CEO, approached Ben Milam, now Co-Founder & Director of Operations, with an idea. Matt asked Ben if he thought a particular piece of property could be transformed into a treatment center. Ben took one look at the property and confidently said, “100 percent bro!” The property had previously been home to a non-profit treatment center known as New Life for Girls. Because the intended use was the same, zoning was retained for the 16 residential beds. Given the strong relationship with the previous owners and the commitment to helping people rebuild their lives, it was only fitting to keep the name New Life intact. From there, renovations started, and the journey to turn this dream into a reality began.

CONTINUITY OF CARE

What sets New Life apart from other local recovery programs is our unique ability to offer all levels of care—detox, residential, and outpatient—on a single campus. This continuity of care is rare in the treatment center space, yet it allows for a seamless transition between levels of support. Residents benefit from a family-like atmosphere where they feel connected to a lifelong recovery community.

REWIRING FOR A BETTER YOU

Our motto, Love Your Life, is central to our treatment philosophy. It emphasizes the power of holistic healing in rewiring the brain and transforming the way we approach life. We believe that when you learn to truly love your life, the need for drugs and alcohol fades. For individuals struggling with addiction, the brain’s reward system may have been hijacked by substances like drugs and alcohol. We offer a comprehensive treatment approach that combines evidence-based therapies with holistic practices to help reprogram these pathways. This equips residents with the tools and strategies to naturally activate their brain’s reward system, enabling them to rediscover the joy of life—on life’s terms—and build a meaningful, substance-free future.

PERSONALIZED PROGRAMS

New Life Recovery designs personalized programs to address the unique needs of each client by offering a comprehensive, multi-faceted approach to treatment. Many addicts and alcoholics have experienced past trauma, which, if not addressed, can hinder their ability to achieve long-term sobriety. Trauma impacts the central nervous system and neuroreceptors, and by helping individuals process their trauma, they are more likely to reach their recovery goals. The medical team is led by Dr. David Yoon, a board-certified addictionologist, while the clinical team is headed by Stefanie Cagampan, LMFT, a supervising therapist with specialization in trauma treatment modalities.

THE HEALING JOURNEY

When a client is accepted into New Life, they undergo a thorough intake process, during which a personalized treatment plan is developed based on their unique needs. This plan will vary for each individual, as we tailor our approach to best support their recovery journey. The highest level of outpatient care is Partial Hospitalization Program, followed by Intensive Outpatient Program, and then standard Outpatient services.

CARE AT ALL LEVELS

If a client requires the highest level of care—detox—they will typically stay at this level for 3 to 14 days, depending on their needs. After detox, they transition to the residential phase of treatment, which can last anywhere from 30 days and in rare instances clients may be approved for a longer stay. Following residential treatment, clients step down to outpatient care, which is offered in varying levels of intensity.

TIME TO PROCESS

The duration and level of care at each stage are determined by the client’s insurance company and their medical necessity guidelines. Often a client needs additional services, but the insurance company may step down the client to the least restrictive service prematurely. It’s always best to consider the individual needs and progress, ensuring that each person receives the right level of support at every phase of their recovery.

New Life is a for-profit, adult co-ed substance use disorder treatment program. We accept private insurance, which is verified by our billing team, as well as cash payments. Additionally, we offer scholarships to individuals who meet our criteria and are a good fit for the program.
