Kati Kozikowska, Eden Court Creative Manager “As the Ambassador for Eden Court CREATIVE, I am hugely proud to be part of something that provides so many great opportunities for studying theatre, dance and film-making in the Highlands. I did a lot of my initial training at Eden Court, including my Higher Drama and my LAMDA (London Academy of Dramatic Arts) certification. The tutors were always there to support me. I had my first real experience of acting via Eden Court CREATIVE and it was their knowledge and experience that encouraged me to take the next step and pursue a career in the arts. Eden Court CREATIVE is a great resource for everyone in the Highlands both young and old. If you haven’t tried it yet, start participating and get Creative–you never know where it might lead.” EDEN COURT CREATIVE’S AMBASSADOR AND FORMER STUDENT, KAREN GILLAN All photography of class participants and staff: Ewen Wetherspoon www.ewphoto.co.uk

meet the ambassadors The brand new Eden Court CREATIVE Ambassador scheme was launched in November 2012 as an exciting way for 29 young people from the Highlands to help their local area become more involved in the arts. Eden Court offers opportunities to learn, create and develop their skills in many art forms in return for their efforts in their communities.
Miffy Morgan EDEN COURT CREATIVE AMBASSADOR FOR THURSO HIGH SCHOOL Why did you want to become an Ambassador? I wanted to be an Eden Court Creative Ambassador because I have always been involved with theatre up here. So when I heard about the Ambassador’s scheme and all its fantastic opportunities, I couldn’t say no. Also what attracted me was how I could try and give back to my local drama clubs and reach out to young people who aspire to be in theatre, by being one of the links from Eden Court to Thurso. What do you enjoy about working with Eden Court CREATIVE? It is great fun being an Ambassador. From the very first meeting we had, I have made great friends from different areas. It’s great to meet people my age who are as mad about theatre as I am! Also of course working with such an amazing adult team, driving us Ambassadors forward! What kind of challenges have you experienced as an Ambassador? Well a challenge that I have always had to face with living up in Caithness, is travel. There are also some troubles when it comes to promoting things up here. But ever since the Ambassadors scheme was set up, things have been far better for theatre orientated people. Otherwise the actual Ambassador experience itself has run very smoothly I think. What has been your favourite moment as an Ambassador? My favourite moment honestly has to be having the Ambassador meet and greet with Guy Masterson. He is an actor I had heard about before that day. But I hadn’t seen any of his work or seen interviews. So meeting him and asking him questions about his time on the West-End and on American TV was amazing! He is a very inspirational man! What other opportunities does Eden Court offer you? Recently Eden Court has provided me with such amazing opportunities. Such as doing a Higher Drama Course! Which is fantastic as my school in Thurso does not provide us with Higher Drama. I met amazing people on that course. Also such things as helping fund our high school’s drama club to go to festivals like “NT Connections Festival” and “NFYT”, which was amazing for us all! Plus the fact they have amazing shows on constantly!
meet the creative team Amanda Luscombe CREATIVE Arts Worker for Inverness West What do you like most about your job? In a word, variety!!! I love the way every day is different - every class, every school and every group is different! It keeps you on your toes and you never get bored. My job keeps me young, I guess because I still get a chance to play. I am lucky enough to do a job I love and feel passionate about and being able to share that passion with other people is wonderful. What’s the most difficult thing about your job? Never switching off! You are always working in your head, creating workshops, planning productions, thinking of ways to sort a particular problem. Read a book - you find a monologue, watch a programme - you give it a critique, driving along - you have to pull into a lay-by to write down a brilliant idea!!! There is no off switch! What events are you looking forward to? Totally looking forward to directing Grease again at Glenurquhart High School! I did it ten years ago and it was an amazing experience, so much fun! We are thinking of trying to get as many of the original cast from 2003 to come to one of the shows and have a reunion, so if any of you ex-cast are reading this get in touch!!! Lochaber High school has lent us a dodgem which will definitely add to the wow factor of the show. Also I can't wait to start work on the Christmas under 5's show, Hummm-Bug! - it’s just brilliant! I've been lucky enough to perform in three of Eden Court CREATIVE’s under 5’s shows and I love it! I get a chance to regress back into a child for a couple of weeks and play around, create a great piece of theatre and then perform it to an utterly captivated group of toddlers!!! And they call that work!
