YOUR NZ ADVENTURE STARTS HERE New Zealand is many things to many people. A country of outstanding natural beauty. A clean and safe environment. A haven for those who love freedom, and an abundance of opportunities for personal and professional growth. It’s a land where different nationalities are celebrated and dreams are possible. And it’s not just the stunning beaches, the sunny weather or the relaxed lifestyle that attracts visitors here. Low crime, multi-cultural acceptance and religious tolerance, with a robust economic environment, mean that you have a good chance of finding part-time jobs, and also permanent full-time jobs after graduation. New Zealand has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the developed world, and our city-based campus is in the fastest growing area of the country, where there’s high demand for skilled people.

It has everything you need, whether you’re a city person or you love the great outdoors. World-class entertainment, shopping, restaurants, bars and galleries, Auckland is a buzzing city alive with energy. Or try recharging your batteries by venturing further. Within easy reach of Auckland are golden, white or black-sand beaches, protected regional parks, vineyards, unspoilt bush and glittering surf. Our mild sub-tropical climate means sports of all kind are popular, as is beach and pool swimming, sailing or kayaking. And there’s always the option of doing something more extreme, like bungee jumping or a jet boat ride. Just imagine how many memories you could be sharing on Social Media!

Are you passionate about film? If your dream is to bring your vision to the big screen or see your words uttered by actors, a course in Film and TV Production is for you. The New Zealand Film Academy (NZFA) is run by talented professionals with active careers and real industry experience. Join the 8 or 16 week course and you’re in for an intense, hands-on experience that will expose you to all aspects of production: from understanding the visual art of storytelling and the challenge of being part of a creative crew, to the intricacies of mastering professional equipment and the reality of production processes.
Many of our graduates have gone on to work on high profile feature films, study at prestigious international film schools, and some have even won international awards. This is the place where it could all start. What makes NZFA different from other film course providers: We have no full time tutors. Our Tutors are active specialists within the local film and television industry. Our classes are small, ensuring we can tailor content to particular students’ needs. Our courses are short. We believe people learn best by doing. We’re not training academics rather future crew members ready to work in industry.

STUDENT SERVICES Our courses are challenging and competitive and we understand that undertaking study is not always an easy option. While students encounter challenges in the pursuit of success, we want to ensure their time spent with us is enjoyable and fulfilling. That’s why we offer a range of programmes and services to make sure help is always available. Here are a few things you should know:
ACADEMIC ADVICE We encourage all prospective and current students to seek advice before making the final decision on what to study. Before applying, check that you have all the information you need. Some useful questions to ask: • What subjects or topics are covered? • What is the teaching environment like? • What are my goals for when I graduate? • How long is the qualification? • How many hours of study per week are required? You may wish to talk over your decisions with family, friends or your careers adviser. Remember, if you need more information, just ask. If you wish to know more about any of our qualifications or discuss your study plans, please feel free to contact our regional International or Domestic Marketers. Further information on academic regulations, services, and policies are available in the EDENZ Colleges Student Handbook. A copy is issued to every student at Registration and may be obtained from the Registrar’s Office.
STUDENT ASSISTANCE One of the greatest benefits at EDENZ Colleges for a student comes from the enhanced ability to network with stimulating people and professionals. EDENZ offers a number of ways to support students, whether it’s helping develop support networks, peer mentoring or through one-on-one assistance for academic needs (educational support).
STUDENT COUNCIL AND EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT At the start of each year, Student Reps are elected to represent each year group for each academic programme, as well as two International Student Reps on the Student Council, subject to final approval by the Principal. They are the point of contact for suggestions for College and Campus improvements, student queries about College and Campus procedures, ideas for student entertainment and other areas of student concern. Should a Student Rep fail to attend meetings or report back, the Student Council has the right to request that a new Student Rep be elected. The student council meets once a month and their role is to add student voice to ensure EDENZ Colleges is a better place for students.
STUDENT SUPPORT The welfare and ongoing support of all students is a high priority. Students are advised and encouraged to make appointments with student welfare staff members to discuss any areas of concern regarding their progress or areas of personal need. WHERE TO STAY You have several accommodation options available when you study at EDENZ Colleges, all of them designed to help you feel settled, safe and ready to study. For advice on which best suits you, please call our Student Services team. Accommodation is arranged as a ‘fixed term’ package, including food (Snells Beach Campus only). Accommodation must be separately applied for and booked in advance. This arrangement gives confidence and security to students. Any alternative arrangements or approval of changes can only be made with the agreement of campus management.
AUCKLAND CITY CAMPUS EDENZ Apartments Enhance your study focus by waking up in a shared apartment (either single or shared rooms available*) on the top 2 levels of our Auckland City Campus. It’s a great way to save on the cost of public transport and never be late for class. An on-site supervisor is in residence 24/7 to maintain student safety and monitor behaviour. Accommodation residents have access to public telephones (national and international calls) and the internet (Wi-Fi and Desktop PC internet data plans available to purchase at reception). Contact EDENZ Apartments on (09) 309 5208 and ask to speak with Student Services or one of our marketing staff or email accommodation@edenz.ac.nz
SNELLS BEACH CAMPUS EDENZ Dorms & Private Units (for Block Courses, Specialised Courses and Retreats) Snells Beach Campus accommodation provides an ideal base for study and recreation, and is located within the beautiful, peaceful surroundings of Snells Beach. With dorm rooms and private units (single, shared) available*; everything needed is on-site with the added convenience of all accommodation being fully catered. 27 EDENZ HOMESTAY (AUCKLAND) Homestay is the best way to start your stay in New Zealand, even if your plans are to become independent or to go flatting with friends. Starting with a homestay allows you to adjust to the New Zealand way of life, familiarise yourself with the transport systems, and discover the options available. Homestay also offers you a chance to practice your English, and provides that extra care needed while you settle into a new culture. All of our homestays are checked carefully and must pass a detailed evaluation process. Contact EDENZ Homestays on 021 518 839.
INNER CITY HOSTELS (AUCKLAND) There are several hostels in central Auckland, ranging from $130-$200 per week. This price does not include food. It is important to remember that while staying in a hostel offers more independence than a homestay, it requires students to look after themselves and be disciplined in their study and attendance. This type of accommodation is recommended for more mature students. Students can ask our student services team for recommendations of hostel accommodation.
INNER CITY FLATS & APARTMENTS (AUCKLAND) Flats range from $130-$250 per person per week, and apartments can range from $150-$500 per week, depending on the location and the number of students sharing the cost. This price does not include electricity, phone or food. *All EDENZ accommodation rooms (Central City and Snells Beach) are subject to availability criteria. Students are assigned rooms based on an assessment of needs and in accordance with Campus regulations.

LIBRARIES & OUR SELF-DIRECTED LEARNING CENTRE Turn information into knowledge. EDENZ Colleges has a well-resourced library at our Auckland City Campus. This provides a supportive environment for learning resources to be accessed. A librarian is available during the week to assist students with their information needs in person, by phone, or email. Opening two late nights each week ensures that our students have access to resources out of core hours. All students have access to the wealth of resources contained in both libraries, including more than 6,500 books and periodicals, non-book material such as DVDs, e-books, and various electronic databases. For more information and to see the resources available, search our online catalogue at http://accessit.edenz.ac.nz:2000. Current students may use this web page or a mobile phone app to search, reserve & review titles and check loans using their student IDs. All students have the use of computers with Internet access either in a self窶電irected learning centre or library. You are welcome to bring your own device.

The whole point of why EDENZ is different is the multicultural experience. It is like a university and polytechnic and you can’t get that anywhere else. I am now a business development manager for an immigration company and I will soon be a licensed immigration adviser.

Job Search Support service is very useful. They helped me to write a professional CV and Cover letter. I learned a lot about how to find jobs in New Zealand which is different from my country. Finally, I was able to get work as a freelancer and I can see a lot of opportunities to get more jobs!

TESOL
A challenging course, with a great sense of completion afterwards. Some tricky moments but the tutors were always on-hand to help with anything. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone with an interest in teaching English. Thanks Mike and Kris!

TESOL
This course is enjoyable, although it is very intensive. I really benefited a lot from it. If I hadn’t had this training, I would never have realized how much I still need to learn in English and known how to become a perfect teacher in my future career. The teachers are kind and friendly. If I could be like them, it would be a great success for me. This course has ended, but my study hasn’t; I’ll try to work hard and do the diploma in 2 years. I’ll be back!

After completing I was lucky enough to work as a runner/unit on some amazing short films (one that has recently won an award for best short film at the Berlin Festival), feature films, music videos, tv advertisements and tv productions. It can be long hours and hard work – but not once has it ever felt like it. You meet some amazing talented people in film and tv production, and it feels like an honour to be on set each time. If it wasn’t for the NZ Film Academy I probably would never have lived my dream, and I recommend it to everyone.

To ensure the standard of pastoral care and support for international students by education providers in New Zealand, the Ministry of Education is responsible for administering this Code. A copy of the Code is available for reading at the Registrar’s Office at EDENZ Colleges or directly from the Ministry of Education at www.minedu.govt.nz Eligibility for Health Services Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand.
