Easy to Get Here... Easy to Do Business Here
While tourism and economic development may seem like two separate missions, in Tangipahoa Parish, both go hand-in-hand.
Leading the efforts to put Tangipahoa Parish on the map to bring visitors and attract businesses to our parish are Tangipahoa Parish Convention and Visitors Bureau’s Executive Director Carla Tate and Tangipahoa Parish Economic Development Executive Director Ginger Cangelosi.
For several years, both Carla and Ginger have complied quite a record of success in increasing the number of major events being hosted here as well as the number of businesses and companies moving and expanding here.
“I am excited about what we have achieved and I’m equally excited about future growth and economic development in Tangipahoa Parish,” said Cangelosi. “Our team and community are now seeing the positive results of our past efforts as more and more companies are becoming familiar with the many assets and endless opportunities we have in Tangipahoa Parish.”
Carla Tate is equally encouraged by the continual increase in visitors and hotel room stays in Tangipahoa Parish.
Our visitor trends continue to increase every year. You can look around and see many of our current events and festivals continue to grow in attendance,” said Tate. “In addition to their growth, there are a number of new events that have chosen our parish, and they are bringing regional, national and international guests to Tangipahoa Parish.”
The success of their efforts is due in large to the day-to-day work and cooperative partnership Ginger and Carla have developed. Their teams are also actively engaged in working to roll out the red carpet for potential new business, expansion possibilities and new events. It’s a job that takes determination, knowledge and patience. It's vitally important work as they are helping businesses and organizations make decisions about investing in Tangipahoa Parish.
Another key factor that drives what Tangipahoa Parish has to offer in the world of tourism and economic development is Parish President Robby Miller. President Miller has always been focused on and committed to helping grow our parish through economic development and tourism.
Ginger Cangelosi is keenly aware the role the Parish President plays in the success of her work.
“Parish President Miller is always at the table when we bring prospects to our area. His willingness to lend this department the resources needed and help people "Get to Yes" is very important. These companies are always impressed when they understand our parish's willingness and commitment to economic development.”
Carla Tate also has high praise for the role Parish President Miller plays for tourism.
When the parish president gives the official welcome at our events, it goes a long way. I hear time and time again from event organizers how impressed they are the parish president is on-hand to meet them and be part of their event. President Miller always goes the extra mile to make our groups to feel welcome in Tangipahoa Parish.”
It’s an exciting time now and the future is bright for the parish in terms of tourism and economic development. With each new company that moves here or expands in our parish and the many new corporate and leisure visitors coming to Tangipahoa, Ginger Cangelosi, and Carla Tate are definitely putting Tangipahoa Parish on the map.
