he modern world has a new concept of social and cultural lifestyle. Smart technologies have made it easier to live in a blended society. With time we have witnessed an increase in migration and cultural interactions between people of different roots. As a result, we can live in multicultural societies in most parts of the world. This cultural mix has provided new traditional ethnic and cultural similarities and developed multicultural characteristics. This led to an accepting and diverse society. The concept of multiculturalism, which appeared for the first time at the end of the 1960s in Canada, belonged to migratory civilizations and gained widespread use in Europe over two decades At Edgy Magazine we celebrate our differences, and this Idea was planted by our publisher “Edwige Dazogbo” a few years ago. Her impression of cultural diversity is a direct reflection of my visions. We decided to write about various cultures and various concepts connected to those societies. We started to write about sharing our cultural variance and cherish it. Aiming the growth in acceptance among people and societies by introducing them to each other. The focus was to bring out the positive stories

that create encouragement for those who have lost hope in the concept of a peaceful world.
The disagreement generated by the interaction of cultures reflects the intricacy of the phenomenon of culture itself. Culture, as a manifestation of the creative nature of man, is pluralistic. It is divided not only into ethnic, national, or civilizational clusters, but also into folk, classical, and mass cultures, and includes numerous gender subcultures. Finally, culture has socially predetermined structures. They all interact with each other making the culture of human civilization. A multicultural civilization could well be the solution to peace, equal opportunities, education health, and better living. If you are interested in a better world that is more than “Good enough to live”. You can find inspiration in this magazine.

Montrealers remember her TEENAGE YEARS The newly elected Vice-President of the United States spent 5 formative years in Quebec’s metropolis

By Viviane Paul
amala Harris arrived in Montreal at the age of 12 when her mother, Shyamala Gopalan, a breast cancer researcher, worked in the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University and conducted research at the Jewish General Hospital. In her memoir, "The Truths We Hold: An American Journey," she describes the move as a culture shock. " I was 12 years old, and the thought of moving away from sunny California in February, in the middle of the school year, to a French-speaking foreign city covered in 12 feet of snow was distressing", she wrote.
Initially, her mother enrolled Kamala and her sister Maya in a French-language school. "I used to joke that I felt like a duck, because all day in our new school I would say Quoi? Quoi? Quoi? What? What? What?" she recalls in her biography. Kamala Harris graduated from Westmount High School (WHS) in 1981, which also has Leonard Cohen among its alumni. Those who knew her at the time have fond memories of their former classmate and are delighted about her election victory. Wanda Kagan, who attended the same school, was very happy when she learned of the victory of her best friend in high school. " I was so excited, especially for my daughter, a strong and independent black woman. It means a lot to everyone," she said.
"My mother tried to make it sound like an adventure, taking us to buy our first down jackets and mittens, as though we were going to be explorers of the great northern winter. But it was hard for me to see it that way. "
Ms. Kagan says her friendship with the Vice-President changed the course of her life as a teenager.

"SHE DID IT. KAMALA HARRIS, SO MANY FIRSTS. A WHS (Westmount High School) KNIGHT IN THE WHITE HOUSE." She even named her daughter Maya after Kamala Harris's sister. "When I was in high school, I was abused by my stepfather. Kamala and I were best friends and I confided in her," says Ms. Kagan. "She went to see her mother, who told her I had to move in with them, so I moved in with them to finish my school year." Ms. Harris hasn't forgotten her friend Wanda, last September she wrote a tweet about her former classmate, "One of the reasons I became a prosecutor was to protect people like her."
remembers them as intelligent and quiet students. He is not surprised by his former classmate's success. Dean Smith, another former class- "I just had a feeling they were gomate, compares Kamala’s victory ing to be something important in to the triumph of love over hate: society somewhere, in some way," "goodness always wins in the end." says Mr. Williams. Mr. Smith said he has only good memories of Kamala Harris. He believes that her victory, as the first black woman to become Vice President, will be an inspiration to young people. Trevor Williams, a former Canadian National Basketball Team member, who was friends with Kamala Harris and her sister Maya,
Hugh Kwok, who was also a friend of Kamala Harris, recalls how popular she was in high school. She had adapted easily to the climate and the cultural and linguistic diversity of Montreal. There was something special about her, she blended in with everyone," he recalls. Westmount High School congratulated Kamala, tweeting their pride a purple knight had climbed the steps all the way to the White House.
8
"She did it. Kamala Harris, so many firsts. A WHS (Westmount High School) Knight in the White House." For Kaleesia Bailey, a current Grade 5 student, knowing that her school has such a distinguished alumnus in its ranks makes an impact. "She was in my shoes at one point and it's really inspiring, because she's a black woman and so am I. I've never seen anyone like me in this kind of position before. " Here at Edgy Magazine, we are proud that a member of our community has reached such an important position. It's even more special for us because she was part of a minority community in Montreal.

HOLISTIC LIFESTYLE DR. LUDMILA TALKS ABOUT PAVING A HEALTH INDUSTRY THROUGH HOLISTIC HEALING By Rizwan Zulfiqar Bhutta
healing power in the health we are born with. The pandemic has been a wakeup call, but we are yet to realize what is lacking in the 21st century – The “Awareness”. “IT IS NOT ABOUT WHAT MUST CHANGE WITH THE WORLD BUT INSTEAD, WHAT HAS TO CHANGE WITHIN US”
L
iving a natural lifestyle results in improved care of our bodies, better health, and enhanced living environments. This lifestyle has a truly low impact on people and the planet. We have engaged our self with a world full of artificial lifestyle. Our food processing, the production of our goods, and our health segment are highly compromised in comparison to what nature offers us.
“MY VISION IS THAT YOU LIVE A LIFE WITHOUT MEDICINE” The approach of Holistic Medicine is to put the individual on a path towards traditional healing instead of curing. It is about discovering oneself and the hidden
Having witnessed the miracle that Holistic Lifestyle is and that too by just listening to an online interview. We decided to take this subject ahead and talk more about it with Dr. Ludmila Vassilieva. We could not begin to imagine the effect it can have on people if they would make the choice of health as a priority, only if we would all pause for a moment and look towards leading a Holistic Lifestyle. We have been caught in the cobweb of the pandemic, “paying for sickness” as Dr. Ludmila fairly states. With a Holistic Lifestyle, you don't just get better, but your whole self and the people around you benefit from this mind-blowing transformation.
"Can humans survive without the planet Earth?” she asked. It is a question that would put anyone off-guard. It is the harsh reality we are all yet to come to terms with. The sooner we do, the better for mankind.
More than two decades ago, Dr. Ludmila Vassilieva established her “Holistic Healing Medical Centre” She is the pioneer of Homeopath to have introduced She said, First and foremost, we Holistic Medicine Dubai. We are witnessing an unbelievably small level of awareness about how to drive this life as a human, without destroying this beautiful planet, and most importantly, without destroying oneself. The point is, humans, have everything in the 21st century, except “awareness and consciousness” And the Media is only trying to pull people from one side to another.
When Media has such an impact on people’s minds, it must be used wisely and in moderation for awareness. Nothing more, nothing less.
“EVERYBODY IS TRYING TO CHANGE THE WORLD TOGETHER WITH THE MEDIA. IT IS HIGH TIME WE REALIZED THE WORLD IS NOT SUFFERING BECAUSE OF ITSELF. THE WORLD IS SUFFERING BECAUSE OF US HUMANS.”

Health is the comfort of the body, right?” The pandemic has come with its own share of chaos around it and to add fuel to the fire, the excess information taking rounds. The virus can be transmitted only through the mucus that you cough or sneeze that can travel up to two meters. “What does this mean? It is not a virus problem. But a problem of personal hygiene, health, and immunity.”

“21ST CENTURY RUNS ON HIGH SPEED BUT LACKS AWARENESS.” Dr. Ludmila Said, all eyes and ears are on Media now. We are suffering not due to lack of information, but instead, due to excess information, Hence, it is necessary to create awareness for humans to realize what they are doing for themselves. Today there is already a limitation in the resources, especially water. The planet and human body both have a water constitution of 72%. The planet is suffering now because water has become more expensive than fuel. “Water is not polluted in itself but because of human actions, we are facing one of the biggest crises in the world right now - water pollution,” she said, emphasizing what needs priority today - conscious actions from humans. Dubai tops the list as the most ideal location for a Health industry through Holistic Medicine. There is an abundance of sun, sand, and sea. Along with the visionary mindset of the rulers, there is huge potential right here to provide expansion to a holistic lifestyle and make it more common among people. “We have a quote on our reception wall that says, ‘Invest in your health, you don’t need to spend on disease’, Dr. Ludmila concluded with a positive smile that is not just reassuring, but one that reflects years of experience and knowledge. 15
“WHEN YOU LOOK AT LIFE AS A POSSIBILITY, EVEN A PROBLEM BECOMES AN OPPORTUNITY. YOU EVOLVE WITH LIFE. OUR PERCEPTION RELIES ON HOW OUR MIND IS CONDITIONED TO BE. TO LOOK AT A PROBLEM AS JUST ANOTHER PROBLEM, OR AN OPPORTUNITY TO FIND THE SOLUTION.” As a doctor, she has been a guide for many to lead a lifestyle that restores health. What she never fails to share with everyone is about how health is a choice we make for ourselves.
FOOD HERITAGE
is a vital part of a CULTURE
ELLI KRIEL’S “KOSHER” KITCHEN TALE; FROM THE EAST COAST OF SOUTH AFRICA TO THE SMARTEST CITY IN THE WORLD By Rizwan Zulfiqar Bhutta

e at Edgy Magazine talk about “Celebrating Our Differences” and take pride in it. It is always important to know and understand the differing cultures. Most of the time we are left with assumptions due to lack of awareness. To make people respect each other’s culture it is very important to introduce all cultures to them. Cultural information is the first step we take to create an environment for a multicultural society and build tolerance among people from various origins. Food heritage is the key tradition in most cultures, You might have seen “Halal” or “Kosher” at some food selling stores or restaurants. These are dietary law-abiding food cultures.
Elli was born and proudly raised in South Africa by Greek parents. She is a Sociologist and self-professed foodie with a deep respect for ancient history and culture which naturally led her to live in multiple cities around the world including Argentina.
In conversation with Edgy Magazine she said, My home is Kosher so when I arrived with my family in the Elli Kriel the founder of “Elli’s Kosher Kitchen” became famous UAE almost eight years ago, I had to for her Kosher food during the last quarter of the year 2020. Our find my way around supermarkets curiosity about the success of her kitchen and name “Kosher food” and figure out how to bring certain led us to see her. We discussed her entrepreneurship as a successful items to Dubai. I could not really ask businesswoman and her choice of food diet to be “Kosher”. anyone as I did not know anyone who followed a Kosher diet like me Elli moved to UAE with her husband and three children back in 2013. so I focused on my family’s needs. This cultural gap combined with the lack of readily available Kosher Eventually, people were talking about products in the UAE served to strengthen Elli’s sense of purpose. this Kosher family that was living in 17
manufacturers, processed foods and so many restaurants, it can get difficult to find a place that offers legitimate kosher foods – especially that one of the points of kosher is to consume pure, clean foods – similar to what our hearts, minds, and souls should be pure.
Dubai, and people coming in for business would reach out and ask us for help sourcing Kosher food. This led me to either invite them to my home or send them homecooked Kosher meals. The requests increased rapidly from there and with the launch of the Year of Tolerance, it became clear to me that the demand was far greater than what I could have anticipated. I realized that I was uniquely placed to offer this service so when the Pope came for his historic visit, I spontaneously decided to make my food available for whoever wanted it. That’s how Elli’s Kosher Kitchen got its start! About Kosher she said, the word ‘Kosher’ comes from the Hebrew word ‘Kashér’ which literally means clean or pure. Kosher is the term used to describe the food that abides with the dietary standards of traditional Judaist culture.
Ab out t he response Elli said, “I KNEW THAT MY t he c ustome r KIDS WOULD GET TO fe e d b a c k h a s GROW UP WITH CHILbeen great! and DREN FROM ALL OVER I am always cessed, and THE WORLD AND BE ABLE grateful to my prepared. I like to used for meat preparation must have a relationship with my cusbe kept separate from dairy. This even extends to utensils, serving dishes, and cooking facilities. This means you will not find dishes like steak in creamy mushroom sauce or butter chicken in Kosher recipes. Consequently, kosher establishments install two separate kitchens - one for meat and one for milk.
Kosher has so many benefits one of which is hygiene. It is important to determine the source of where the food is coming from plus ensure that it is being prepared properly especially these days. Centuries ago, before modernization I would say it was easy to Kosher dietary laws illustrate how control food quality and sourcing; foods must be produced, pro- but now with the surplus of food 18
“KOSHER DIETARY LAWS ILLUSTRATE HOW FOODS MUST BE PRODUCED, PROCESSED, AND PREPARED. IT IS IMPORTANT TO DETERMINE THE SOURCE OF WHERE THE FOOD IS COMING FROM PLUS ENSURE THAT IT IS BEING PREPARED PROPERLY.”
My aim is to make kosher food more accessible to individuals, and service providers touching the kosher market, and to expand to other parts of the country and around the GCC! In this regard, I am launching a kitchen in Abu Dhabi with the Aloft Hotel and will be extending my services around the UAE from Abu Dhabi. Closer to home, I tomers, make them feel that they would like to have my very own are a part of Elli’s Kosher Kitchen, kosher restaurant somewhere that we are a family, plus there beautiful in Dubai. Talking about multiculturism she said, Dubai is a one-of-a-kind city in the world. The fact that you can come here be who you are and, in the process, meet people from all over the world on different walks of life is what makes it so special. I knew that my kids would get to grow up with children from all over the world and be able to have the opportunity to learn about different cultures and experience different things. In addition, we get to grow up with a wonderful local community that has been nothing but welcoming and generous.

ashion, glamour, style is an unending war. Everyone enjoys appearing attractive as per the demand of age to catch the world’s eye. People are more inclined to dress like a magical figure. The outfits represent a whole individual and it’s a reflection of one’s personality. Covid-19 prevailed globally and cast a big influence; its impact affected the entire world. The spread of the virus from infected individuals to healthy ones has become as common as a person catching the flu. Covid-19 is said to be a contagious disease that spreads by contacting the infected. It can pass on from an infected person’s mouth or nose and appears in the air or liquid droplets when they cough, speak, sneeze, or breath heavily. This is more scientific theory and we are not here to talk about it but to talk about the masks used to cover the mouth and nose during the pandemic.
The use of surgical masks has become an obligation around the world and the purpose is to keep the environment healthy and reduce the risk of catching the disease. But in this era of fear and worries, there were some lively spirits who came up with creative ideas to keep the shield on but

They are too concerned about their appearances. They do not ignore the unsupportive accessories but create ways to have protection about their fashion agenda and attire. The world has finally acknowledged that the virus has emerged as a fragment
of their lives and they must breathe with it. But it is not a petite apprehension. There should be a remedy to cope with it and the Appearances can’t be compromised. With the initial assistance of few creative of the fashion freaks, people started using the face masks of their own choices. The blue or green surgical masks were somehow acceptable by them. But now, a new vibrant race of facial mask design has emerged. The glamour of masks has mounted to a great extent. At some parties, even the gold souvenirs are replaced by a stylish mask. Wealthy gifts were distributed previously at such gatherings. for the Splendid Central Asian Artists Internationally YOUNG NATALYA ANDAKULOVA MADE THE ENDS MEET FOR ASTONISHING AND STIRRING ARTISTS By Sidra Asif

ppreciating the art or the artist is something most of us do, but no one goes the extra mile. But Edgy team was lucky to find an inspiration amazing young woman who is not only an art lover but has done great things for art and the artists in her career. She decided to take the work of some real great central Asian artists to the world. These artists were limited to their regions for some reasons, language was one of the barriers. But Natalya took the initiative and started working on this great mission. Founded in 2012 in Dubai, her art gallery, Andakulova Gallery, tries to show the beauty of the arts and the talent of the artists from Central Asia, deeply influenced by the local history as a key point on the silk road. For
Natalya, arts in Central Asia have always been beautifully complex because they were shaped by the mixing of several adjoining regional cultures and superregional influences “The Silk Road transmission of art, Scythian art, Greco-Buddhist art, Serindian art and more recently Persianate culture, are all part of this complicated history”. Whether in her art gallery or in her personal and everyday life, cultural diversity is a central value in her life. Daughter of a Russian-Ukrainian mother and an Uzbek-Tatar father, Natalya does not only see a blended culture as normal but also as a source of constant learning and creativeness. More than a simple presentation of works of art, Andakulova gallery aims to connect and develop relationships between artists, writers, specialists,
25
“ART DOES NOT TEACH PEOPLE WHAT TO DO, BUT IT CAN BIND YOU TO YOUR SENSES, BODY, AND MIND AND THIS FEELING CAN SPUR THOUGHT, PARTICIPATION, AND EVEN ACTION”
and collectors, but also to bring together several cultures: “The goal of the gallery is to cultivate the dialogue between Central Asia and the Middle East”. For Natalya, the many contemporary artworks showcased are also a way to engage a dialogue about societal issues such as the present or the future of nations but also the rights of its people. Natalya does not simply showcase works of art, she creates a bound with the artists and holds a special connection to them: “We are proud of all our artists and all of them are closer to my heart”. She sees art as a vital part of the life and transformation of our societies into more inclusive one: “This is where there's a difference art can make. Art does not teach people what to do, but it can bind you to your senses, body, and mind, and this feeling can spur thought, participation, and even action”. For Natalya, anyone can find a voice and make a difference through art: “Art is not just limited to a hobby”. The exhibitions held at the gallery reflect the creativeness and the diversity of art, from Classical forms, offering a window into history as painting and sculpture, to modern ones such as photography, videos or even art installations. Art is continually evolving but Contemporary art is very special to Natalya as it is performed by trained, open-minded and often young new artists “We would like to encourage the art enthusiasts to consider purchasing contemporary art as it is motivating young artists and support the living artists”. Andakulova is a fast-growing gallery that always seeks for new talents. There also are many current and developing projects such as offline monthly lectures on Central Asia Art history, an upcoming international e-commerce website and the publication of many books and catalogs already available for purchase.
Natalya Andakulova was born in one of the oldest cities in the world, Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Art has always had a special place in her heart: “I remember when my grandmother took me to the market and presented to me a whole ensemble of architectural monuments: Bibi Khanum, Registan – blue domes, mosaics, caravanserais all remained in my memory. All this instilled in me is a craving for beauty and art”. Although she started studying something radically different, physics and mathematics, she quickly redirected herself towards arts and graduated as an art historian after studying in London and St Petersburg. After she started her carrier in her native country, the growing interest of the UAE towards central Asia led her to open an art Gallery in Dubai.
26
“I would like to separately mention artists from Uzbekistan such as Bakhodir Jalal, Timur D’vatz Javlon Umarbekov, Yura Useinov, Babur Ismailov, great modern artists from Kazakhstan Almagul Menlibaeva, Said Atabekov, Askhat Akhmediyarov and Saule Suleimenova. Each of the listed artists have given an important contribution in the Andakulova Gallery, and it’s a great honor to represent and promote them”
Saule Suleimenova is a visual artist working on the edge of different. She has a strong social impact in Kazakhstan and takes part in educational, ecological, and other social events. This work stems from Saule’s experience of Qazaq Koktemi, a series of peaceful protests in Kazakhstan against the government. This work thus reflects the dynamics of Kazakh protest: its faces, its bodies, its colors and shows the squeezed and chaotic crowd in the middle of peaceful steppes. The artist aims to demonstrate the inorganic and bounded space in which people were constrained. On the other hand, she wants to show that in the steppe – the inherent part of Kazakh mindset – protest, as civic activity, may re-acquire new existential features.
Almagul Menlibayeva photographs represents shifts in sensibilities of Central Asian contemporary art, feminist discourse, and perceptions of Kazakh culture in Post-Soviet times. She Opens up a world where the environment stands and symbolizes the ruins of former empires that have imposed themselves upon the lands of Central Asia and its people. She presents an architecture of oppression, haunted by figures who belong to the land and to the imaginary of Kazakhstan life.

My designs continuously include plants, the impact of green and the nature touches. I prefer to have greenery impression ubiquitously indoors and the outdoor. I always take care of each aspect of particularisation. for example, once I am to design a room you will see the pattern in the cabinet handle, You will see the plant colour at the window side, the attention at the knobs design on the cooker and so on. I am the one who believe in niceties in interior designing, I am a firm believer of nature to be reflected inside your houses rather only to be outside. Kitchen is the heart of any house undoubtedly, the most vital place in a house and necessitates extra attention in the planning and execution of interior design. One should choose the precise and hefty materials with corresponding colours. if you have a modern and open kitchen, the matter is not that easy because one should consider numerous points to work on it. The space and size of a kitchen, type of 30

Also consider the kitchen storage and most important kitchen accessories and organization of the cabinets. You may think that why the kitchen is important specially in modern houses. It is important Because in the modern house’s, ninety percent kitchens are kept open and we need to consider its relationship and connectivity with the rest of the house. The house style, height and numerous factors add to the subject. I love the vision of the designer in general, for people who want to be in this field I would like to share what I experienced. It will change the way you see specific details in life, once you deeply involved in the design profession your vision of everything in your life will be absolutely transformed towards the colours and to shapes and that to be in a positive way. I am a person who always thinks positive but working as an interior designer positivity has augmented with the time. It is all correlated to my deep involvement in design and cre-
ativity. Design is the life; it is everything in life. All creations of the universe carry the creativity, designs, patterns, and each is different in nature with reference to its design. The nature is full of diverse pattern and with different colours and shapes, that is why we are always feeling happier and contented at a natural place. We have designs around us in ubiquitously in daily life, but not all us realize it properly due to lack of focus. Your life is a design and it explains you the way you eat, the way you walk or talk. Life is full of millions and millions of designs.
The designers should develop their own philosophy with the time, with their experience with different visions and with different situations in accordance to everyone’s life. I believe, the place where a designer live can be reflected in the designer’s vision and his/ her work. For me, I do not like at all to live in a place crowded with skyscrapers. I always dream to live at a place full of trees, greenery, and flowers with the pure fragrance of clay and nature. Beauty is the ascription of a property or characteristic of a person, object, place or the idea that provides a perpetual satisfaction and each “BEAUTY IS THE ASCRIPperson has a vision and an exTION OF A PROPERTY OR plicit expression of his/her own.
CHARACTERISTIC OF A PERSON, OBJECT, PLACE OR THE IDEA THAT PROVIDES A PERPETUAL SATISFACTION AND EACH PERSON HAS A VISION AND AN EXPLICIT EXPRESSION OF HIS/HER OWN.”
I understand each country and each region has a different cultural aspect but in my view the countries with lack of advanced infrastructure have more creative designer because they spend more time with nature in comparison to the advanced states around the globe.
I believe in complete peace and my faith in a better world is increasing with time. I will carry my passion of designing to develop deep and creative interiors and make more and more people happier from my design creations.

The REVOLUTION OF MASS EMOTION IN THE TELEVISION BROADCAST INDUSTRY Savik Shuster introduces new age television broadcasts with methods of measuring the instant emotional response of viewers. By Kate Kingsley

Y
ou might have heard of emotional contagion, a phenomenon where an individual expresses and feels emotions similar to what the others feel, but have you heard of mass emotions and their use in broadcast television? Savik Shuster is the first to introduce this amazing modern way to interact with the audience and understand their perspective by measuring their emotional reaction during a live TV show broadcast. Savik Shuster is the President of Open Mind Foundation as well as a prominent journalist, writer, and host of a highly popular TV talk show. He and his team spent years researching and developing a study that helped them create a mechanism to interact with the viewers inside the studio and those watching elsewhere. One may wonder how it is different people representing the country by from any other ongoing methods of gender, age, region, and income were interactions. Because people can hold invited to the studio for each live their verbal or the selective opin- broadcast of the show. because the connector positions are easy to patch on both outputs and inputs, making it more convenient. The computer also supports the steady and accurate functioning of the MindWeight software, which provides real-time data to the host and helps draw real-time charts to demonstrate the results for the audience. Savik Shuster hosts the show, and he is also the concept writer. At the beginning and end of the talk show, the host asks the audience to indicate which emotion they were feeling when they came to the show, given three possible answers: the hope for a better tomorrow, the fear of what tomorrow might bring, or a sense of humiliation due to the country’s current circumstances. The
results are displayed immediately on the studio’s large screens. The changes in these emotions are indicators of people’s reaction to statements made by the representatives invited to the show. The results demonstrate societal opinions and trends during the broadcast. This is the rational ballot. The host can ask the audience any question during the show and the answers are recorded immediately, reflecting the real-time public opinion on the key problems discussed. During the lockdown, the show’s management was unable to bring the audience to their studio. To keep the country connected to the show, Savik and his team launched an alternative IT project. With the help of the country’s best programmers, they created a special chatbot to communicate live with the audience. Currently, there are up to thirty
thousand participants sharing their opinions in live shows, and the community grows with each show. Any spectator can become a part of the show and express his or her opinion. This brings us to the next level of measuring mass emotions, which is more interesting and is improving each day. Savik used face recognition with the help of special cameras and software. By using the eye-tracking and face-reading methods, the data is evaluated and published in real-time on the studio’s screens. Savik told Edgy Magazine “Our research showed that even the eye-tracking and the face reading is not enough to get the accurate data. For a complex analysis and improved emotional recognition, we are creating special devices that can measure a person’s physio-psychological state. The new program will consider social, situational, and even temporal context.”
36
According to Savik, the study of collective emotions in a specific territory can tell us a great deal about the state of mind of that territory’s population. Such a study can help to determine the reasons for popular discontent. He said, “Now my colleagues and I are initiating a new interdisciplinary project on exploring the impact of collective emotions on civilization.”

Promote social respect and balance among various sections of society. If you can figure out the trigger points in a society, you can easily counter them and create a tolerant society by getting rid of fewer spoken unsettling issues.”
Savik said, “All the time I get after my journalistic and social responsibilities, I spend it on the project

n Social Media it is believed that you must be bold to get attention of your followers and subscribers. But some influencers fail to live within the ethical guidelines and go beyond the cultural domain of their societies. Among these there are some fine individuals like “Pinky Francis” Elegant, decent, and sophisticated but equally stylish and entertaining Social media Celebrity. Pinky is the true representation of modern Pakistani young influencers. Where people are going crazy for fame and ready to do anything, she is very selective about her work. The content she creates, her attire and the brands she collaborates with, everything is as per the moral conduct listed in her culture. 38

NECDOTE OF MODERN-DAY COUNT FROM A COUNTRY YOU PROBABLY DON’T KNOW luxury is the lone lifestyle known to Oliver Count of Wurmbrand-Stuppach & Founder of Ambassador Club by Jane Stevens
O
liver Count of Wurmbrand-Stuppach is from a less known country “Liechtenstein” Even though it’s the sixth smallest country in the world, only 62 square miles, Liechtenstein has a lot to offer, charming villages, excellent cuisine, breathtaking Alpine landscapes, friendly citizens.
Oliver’s family is originally from Austria and is one of the oldest noble families there. Our family tree dates to 1194. Edgy Team was able to reach Oliver and talk him about his country, his life, and the work he is doing at ambassador club being the founder. Talking to Edgy Magazine Oliver said “it is Very surprising for people when I introduce myself and my country, as Liechtenstein with its 38.000 residents is one of the smallest countries in the world. 44
45
Talking about the ambassadors club he said, “The idea is tailor-made for Dubai. Surely, the Ambassadors Club would also work well in other world cities but Dubai is a cosmopolitan city with around 80% expats, an upand-coming business metropolis and an international lifestyle hub, which is precisely why Dubai is perfectly suited for a club that combines exclusive lifestyle with networking. Very few people know this little principality sandwiched between Austria and Switzerland, which is hardly surprising: our capital, Vaduz, has just 4.500 inhabitants; a third of the residents of the Burj Khalifa, the largest skyscraper in Dubai. Only yesterday I was introduced by a friend as "Oliver from Luxembourg".
“THE AMBASSADORS CLUB MEANS EXCLUSIVE LIFESTYLE, EXCLUSIVE ENTERTAINMENT, HAVING A GREAT TIME WITH GREAT FRIENDS, WE DID NOT CENTER OUR CLUB AROUND BUSINESS, BUT NETWORKING”
He Said, “It is a fact that Liechtenstein does not have such a large marketing budget to make the whole world aware about this small country. But everyone should pay a visit to the Principality when visiting Europe, even if is just for the entry stamp in their passport”. Oliver studied marketing in Germany and worked for one of the largest agencies before he found his way to the financial services sector – more by chance – and started his own business in this field as a trustee; first in Liechtenstein, and now for a few years, also in Dubai. 46
Unlike other business clubs, the Ambassadors Club means exclusive lifestyle, exclusive entertainment, having a great time with great friends; we did not center our Club around business, but networking. In this way, we can create the cornerstones for successful collaborations and combine this with exclusive en-
tertaining events – without networking breakfasts and boring PowerPoint presentations.” Austria being the native origin, Oliver lived in Germany, Italy, the Dominican Republic, Liechtenstein and now he lives in the United Arab Emirates. He Said “I think the culture and values in North America and in Europe are characterized by openness, tolerance, and a liberal, free society. I am, of course, influenced by this, but I am also always happy to discover new cultures and traditions and learn from them. I live in Dubai, a city with inhabitants from almost every country in the world (even some from Liechtenstein). It's a very exciting mixture that never gets boring and is lived and practiced anew “CULTURE AND VALUES IN NORTH AMERICA AND here every day. But the city and IN EUROPE ARE CHARACTERIZED BY OPENNESS, TOLERANCE, AND A LIBERAL, FREE SOCIETY. I AM, OF COURSE, INFLUENCED BY THIS, BUT I AM ALSO ALWAYS HAPPY TO DISCOVER NEW CULTURES AND TRADITIONS AND LEARN FROM THEM.” the country are only 50 years old. In societies that have grown over centuries, this could prove a little more difficult.” Talking about the lifestyle Oliver said, “Lifestyle is, of course, a matter very close to my heart. Everyone has their own focus and preferences. After all, there is no such thing as one lifestyle, a kind of “one size fits all” solution. Personally, I appreciate an international, open environment with interesting people who share 47
the same interests – and of course a little glamor should not be missing here in Dubai. Oliver is a stimulating individual with a lot of stories always hanging in his bag. His current family life is less traditional. Most family members are four-legged. he lives with his partner, four dogs and two rescue cats right by the sea, the beach is just a few steps from his house and he feels a little like on vacation every day.

NAVIGATING the NETWORKING COMMERCE in UAE LARA TABET IS THE WOMAN HOLDING ALL THE CARDS. SHE IS A TV PRESENTER, LUXURY BRAND AMBASSADOR, BUSINESS DEVELOPER, HOTELIER. OFFICIAL SPOKESPERSON FOR THE ARAB FASHION COUNCIL AND PHILANTHROPIST. By Rizwan Zulfiqar Bhutta

here are individuals who did less in their life but are exaggerated more when introduced. In contrast there is a woman who has done so much that a short document or an article would not be able to do justice to her achievements properly. We mentioned several titles at the top but still missed some very important details about the marvellous Lady. For example, Lara is also an award-winning global Influencer with a fan following of hundreds of thousands over the social media, numbers keep on growing each day.
Lara is termed as the most connected woman in Dubai’s Business community. With all the tools in her bag, she is always in the limelight for one or another important reason. Most of the events, happenings, business networking, social outreach cannot take place in the town without her inclusion. She is known for her luxurious lifestyle and planning. Talking to Edgy Magazine,
Lara told us, “Being raised in Dubai, the luxury that I showcase is something that comes to be as second nature, because Dubai is all about glitz and glamour.” Lara credits all this to the vision of the ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Makhtoum. She said,“there is a lot of glamorous and beautiful content to show as the city has become famous for hosting events like the Dubai World Cup, the world’s richest horse race, the Dubai international Film Festival, the AP Tennis Championships, the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix and the list goes on. Being part of Dubai society one can only showcase the best that one has to offer. I consider myself a global citizen and an internationalist in every sense. the UAE. Therefore, I cannot but live a multi-cultural lifestyle. Dubai has 220 nationalities residing in peace and harmony. It is one of the safest cities in the world. All these nationalities have brought their influences, language, food, art, and culture to make it a unique city. A society that can successfully blend different cultures generates its own unique character. I believe, Dubai has achieved that very successfully. Anyone who lives here will tell you that they find it difficult to go back to a town or village that does not have all these influences. Many people find it difficult to fit in when they leave such a city. In Dubai, there is so much equality and opportunity for women. Some of the most senior positions in government

Living in Dubai most of my life, and being part of a Lebanese family, I have experienced a very international lifestyle. Yet the core Middle Eastern values around family, culture and heritage are still part of me. Both Dubai and Lebanon are rooted in their Arab heritage but with an open eye and mind towards the entire world. I love our Lebanese culture and style and am passionate about Lebanon’s serene beauty, its heritage and of course its rich and varied cuisine. But I also cherish Dubai’s focus on excellence in everything that it does. Dubai is about perfection. If Dubai doesn’t have something, it will create it – perfectly. The modern industry is moving towards convenience. Today, that means it is going digital and online with delivery to one’s home. The technology exists and a new infrastructure is being developed that is going to continue to transform our way of life. We now work differently; we shop differently, and we eat differently than five years ago. This trend will continue and there will be more major changes to come. GLAMOURS AFAQ CLIQUES NOVEL STANDARDS AND TRENDS IN FASHION FAMOUS MODEL & SINGER AFAQ ASLAN SHARES HER APPROACH TOWARDS ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND FORTHCOMING STRATEGIES By Nida Kanwal
T
here are a lot of fashionista and social media celebrities. But only few of them are the real stars. With a figure that confronts the regulations of nature and a look that is nearly mystically photogenic, Afaq Aslan is one of the most influential and fashionable models. Music is her favorite hobby, but she is more pleased to be a "Global fashion model”. The Azerbaijani model and singer were interviewed by Edgy magazine and this amazing lady had a lot of wonderful things to tell. Afaq does have unique representation of herself that makes her special in many ways. Let’s dig deep more into her life. Talking to edgy magazine about the celebrity lifestyle and how she feels about it Afaq said “I think that even before birth, the fate of every person is recorded and determined by God. Not everyone is lucky enough to be famous, to be famous is destiny. Efforts to lead an extravagant and glamorous life to maintain their popularity and success depend on a person's self-confidence. The more confident a person is in life, the more he will be able to maintain his popularity and success. A person should not be afraid of difficulties. On the contrary, he must fight the difficulties he faces, rely on his inner potential, and be principled in life. 58
“THE UNIQUENESS OF MY CLOTHES IS THAT IF I WEAR SOMETHING UNFASHIONABLE, IT IMMEDIATELY BECOMES FASHIONABLE”

She Said, “I have never chosen people from different religions, races, and cultures. For me, there is a category of good and bad people. Living in a society with people of different religions, races and civilizations did not bother me at all. I am from Azerbaijan, The Azerbaijani people, along with their kindness, smile, and hospitality to the world, is a country known for its rich cuisine and natural resources, especially oil and gas, Azerbaijan is a land of fire. I am a professional model and singer but I want to become more famous also in other countries, and I want to continue my professional journey in other countries of the world, not only in my country, Azerbaijan.” Talking about style, fashion and trends she said, “I have my own style of clothing, I follow fashion, but I do not think that everyone should wear what is fashionable, a person should wear what suits him. It seems to me that the uniqueness of my clothes is that if I wear something unfashionable, it immediately becomes fashionable. If I may generalize, Asians, tend to dress cute and colorful. It’s true that more places in Asia are hot, so they don’t want to wear too much dark colors and getting warm. Mostly they play with neon or mixing colors from head to toe. Dress to be cute or casual-cute is mostly what we do. In Europe, I am impressed by how women dress in a proper way every day. Even though they’re home, they are still stylish! It’s like they don’t
have to change any clothes and be ready for unexpected guests. In Asia, they only wear jeans when we’re out. But in Europe, they could wear jeans and a blouse even just stay at home. People there also mostly dress elegantly and neat. Dark and neutral colors are their favorite ones in every season. And for American style
in the tastes of the designers who make these brands. When it comes to fashion, luxury comes to mind first, Luxury means a comfortable lifestyle. To be a successful singer and influencer, you need to be able to reach a wide audience and have an audience that supports you always.
Afaq Believes celebrities and influencer have a huge responsibility towards the society. She “TO BE A SUCCESSFUL said “I think celebrities play a big role in influencing audience SINGER ideas and changing their minds. TUNNELING SUBTERRANEAN VERACITIES of a BROADCAST JOURNALIST’S LIFE The Ravishing “Michal Divon” Is Never Deficient Of Tails To Narrate By Sidra Asif

any believe a good-looking journalist re porting from the field or a presenter reading news inside a studio are in an executive, luxury profession. Well, there is a lot more required to be a journalist. Many tasks other than just information sharing is also part of their job, including fact checks, timelines, interviews, contact lists, Coordination, equipment, accreditations, permissions, lots of traveling, and a lot of meals skipped. One of the most important elements is to keep it together no matter what situation you are in, you must keep your emotions locked
beneath and focus on providing unbiased information. Michal Divon is one such courageous and progressive Broadcast Journalist. She has covered all aspects of reporting during her career. Reporting Live or recorded broadcasts from most difficult outdoor and indoor situations. Michal shared her story with Edgy Magazine and talking about the difficulties of being a broadcast journalist and maintaining the on-screen appearance she said, “Anyone who is a journalist knows it’s not as glamorous as it looks. Truly. Broadcast journalism is a visual medium – and that comes with advantages and

disadvantages. I’ve worked at TV stations that have makeup artists and ones without- and there’s no doubt a little bit of (professional) makeup can go a long way but it still doesn’t make one’s lifestyle glamorous- it’s just a visual requirement of the industry. I think it’s a very fine line between the News and The Entertainment industry. News and entertainment are ultimately a product people purchase/ subscribe to and therefore must sell themselves to produce in revenue. Being a Journalist, however, has given me access to some of the most interesting people I’ve met, and has introduced me to new friends I would have never

She said “My vision of peace is what we are seeing between Israelis Emiratis and right now- genuine curiosity, people-driven initiatives, openness, new friendships, normalcy and familiarity with one another’s cultures. I see peace as sharing a meal, meeting one another’s families, learning about others' traditions and history while sharing and developing common future plans and dreams. We are experiencing a fascinating moment where a world that up until recently was foreign and unreachable opened up entirely. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I can’t wait to meet future generations that will be born into this new norm.”
I think traveling is an important component for personal growth and a key to better understanding the world. I do believe everyone should live outside their comfort zone at some point in their life and wish everyone had the opportunity, willingly or unwillingly to live in an entirely new & different environment.” On the topic of cultural diversities, she said, “Living abroad We always wanted to share the best of which Israel has to offer; the warmth of the culture, the diversity of our people, and the richness of our culture and beliefs. To me, Israel is a melting pot of Arabic and Jewish culture on the Mediterranean, a recipe that is unique to individuals who were either raised in Israel, or on Israeli ideals. The influences from both East and West, the Middle East, and Europe formed a new identity known as the Israeli sabra. They say we are thorny on the outside and sweet within, and in many ways, this is true of the culture. People are incredibly warm, open, curious, and inviting, but at the same time very dominant and opinionated. I’m sure you’ve heard the term ‘chutzpa’- we all have it ingrained within us. Israelis are incredibly direct, for better and for worse, engaged with one another, and believe in mutual responsibility- an ideal we teach our youth from a very early age. Israel is a very casual and down-to-earth place- we call our teachers by their first name and will not hesitate to disagree with anyone publicly. Having one of the highest numbers of start-ups per capita is no coincidence- Israelis are taught to be creative and innovative from an early age, plus they aren’t afraid to take risks. Ultimately, people in Israel love to live and love. They are passionate and warm and live life to the fullest.
In her message and advice for people following broadcast journalism as a profession, she said, “The path of journalism is a path of great uncertainty. You know where the starting point is but you have no idea where it will end or where you will be taken along the way. A few tips for the journey- don’t stay silent in a toxic environment. There are people to talk to. There are systems in place to protect you. There are people whose job is to listen. And there are places that simply aren’t right for you. I was always lucky to be surrounded by powerful, opinionated, dominant women in my journalism career and I think surrounding yourself with people you look up to is your best insurance policy for personal growth. Regardless of gender, I would say
65
surround yourself with great people who believe in you, elevate you, and want the best for you. This has kept me going during some of my hardest moments. If you are serious about journalism I say- try it first. Start building your portfolio from an early age. See what it’s like to write, to be published, to be interviewed. Create video content for a YouTube channel (start a YouTube channel) and see what it feels like to speak into the camera and interview someone else. The only way to find out is through experience. Find out what you like. This is probably the most important thing. Find out what you enjoy. I know I had no idea what it means to be a broadcast/ tv journalist when I started working in a newsroom in 2013. I was hooked and understood then that broadcast is my medium. “
NURTURE THE BODY, MIND, AND SPIRIT WITH HOLISTIC NUTRITION NUTRITIONIST “SEHBA TAUSEEF” SHARES HER VIEWS ON HOLISTIC NOURISHMENT AND ADOPTING THE NATURE By Sehba islam

Holistic Nutrition Professional advises individuals, families, and groups on how to improve diet, lifestyle, and attitude to promote health. Her advice and support are founded on evidence-based and holistic principles. A Natural Nutritionist teaches clients and groups to eat for health and provides healthy meal plans for them. All-encompassing wellbeing is an approach to manage to treat a man's success by contemplating all pieces of life. A long stretch methodology consolidates excited and significant prosperity close by the actual body. Present-day solutions highlight a result rather than the primary driver. Sehba Tauseef is a holistic Nutritionist and she took time out to share her views with Edgy Magazine. Talking to the Edgy team she said “I was into the holistic lifestyle the day I moved to Dubai almost twenty-one years ago. This was after my marriage and over the years my passion for health and nutrition grew. The work of a nutritionist is very interesting and I learn everyday something or the other. In fact, my family is also focused on making good healthy choices. Even my twelve-year-old daughter does grocery shopping online as she has proper knowledge of food ingredients and its contents along with nutritional value and the calorie understanding.” Sehba Said “holistic lifestyle or holistic nutrition is probably the way nature wanted us to be, If we can create a balance and avoid excess utility of things, it can become easier to manage yourself. If you want to change outcomes, you must change inputs!”
She said “Biological features like age, sex, and genetic makeup are the most important aspects along with the lifestyle of a client. All actions must connect to a goal and each step requires some type of teaching, coaching, mentorship, and accountability. I would not advise anyone to go on a crash diet or deprive themselves of any food they like. They can have in moderation and of course binge on weekends. Putting the client’s agenda and needs first, attune and relate to their thoughts, feeling and potential suffering, make a time diary to get to a certain goal, to skills to actions for time management, planning, and preparation.”
India has been recognized all over the world for medicinal plants and spices and both exhibit a wide range of pharmacological properties. My diet plan has more of the Indian herbs/spices. I have a master’s in science (Botany) from India and certification as a nutrition coach from Canada. It’s more of practical knowledge that I have gained over the years.
67
She Said, “I am fortunate to have a very supportive family specially my husband who of course loves the healthy balanced diet. I have a couple of helping hands who are with me for more than 20 years and they assist me with the work.” Sehba is a Nonlicensed Nutritionist but had an interest in nutrition and a healthy lifestyle since she was in college and her post-grad degree in Botany helped her in gaining more interest in the benefits of vegetables and plant proteins. She has PN certification as a nutrition coach, and that has helped her with a tremendous amount of knowledge about nutrition science. She said she gained valuable skills on how to assess and help each client individually that she has worked with. Sehba’s two sons are in University and her daughter is in school where she is also involved in volunteering and a member of the Parents Association as MYP Rep. Her husband is a successful businessman and an avid golfer. She believes her family is her priority and they have a positive relationship with each other.

UTOPIA OF DUBAI ‘GLOBAL VILLAGE’ A WORLD EXCURSION IN JUST 4$ By Rizwan Zulfiqar Bhutta 68
W
ondering around the city of possibilities, I found a utopia like no other. In competition with hundreds of prime attractions in Dubai. The global village is one magical place full of stunning attractions.
Looking at the entrance gates, I had only one thing in my mind “Is there heaven behind these gates”. Perhaps it is a unique cloud nine on earth. The giant entry gates have amazing artistic decor, fascinating lights, a glorifying impact, and a futuristic entry system. I think I
was witnessing more colors than I ever counted in existence. Certainly, entering this heavenly place “Rainbow” can educate itself better about the colors. There is a rare fragrance in the air, a novel feel, because we have just arrived at the world of happiness. Smiles all around, the people, the flamboyant business kiosks, amusing performing artists, much more than my imagination predicted at this place. I became a part of the happiness club along thousands of people smiling at each other. Children laughing and enjoying themself everywhere. Few kids running around, a little girl trying her hand on an Ice cream, few Ladies on a Hot Custard kiosk, people around the magical fountains, at a store men busy in dalliance of Arabic
fragrances and a lot more that can be hardly described in words. The point is you will not see a sad face at the global village. I reached Europe and after spending some time I took the travel to America right next to it with too much available to shop here. I decided to walk myself to Japan which was not as far at the global village, as if I have traveled to the east from America to Japan. But the best destination during my tour by far was Iran. Giant ancient Persian kings, all standing in line, to welcome me or just express their might and fury at me, I can only wonder. I feel to be in a Persian castle with torches burning on the walls, Stores filled with “Zafran” something that is more expensive than silver and used in tea and other foods. I thought to take an Iranian carpet in hope that by paying around 20,000$ it can at least help me fly around the global village like “Aladdin”, but it was not. I was just planning to land

in India but I Just got the sight of Africa. Probably the richest place to visit. Large face masks, traditional African accessories. Loving people. Passionate about everything, they are probably the freshest people in this arena. On average, each countries pavilion is large enough to find out about their culture, trade, and traditions. Now I was tired and I thought I have seen the place thoroughly. But my friend who hosted me at global village told me that I have just been through five to ten percent of the village only. This came to me like an exaggeration. If all this is not even ten percent so what kind of world we are in right now? The answer is the most distinct one. Because there was still ninety percent of countries I did not visit. There were several amazing restaurants providing cuisines of various countries of the world. There is an incredible amusement park. After knowing about the all the attractions I was thinking that now there could not be anything more unique that can surprise me more, and I am already stunned by what this place has to offer. But to add to the wonders, I just found a floating boat market. A full street with floating boats providing goods and foodstuff of various origins. Exceptional people with an exclusive way of preparing food and selling goods. Remember we are in the middle of the desert and we are already shocked by what we have seen and then you find a floating market, full of boats, actively running their trade affairs. There is plenty more to write about this place. But I can only say there is no other attraction in Dubai like the Global village. You can spend the whole day, even several days and you will still have a lot more to explore here. It is a never-ending entertainment!
