03

You can go on the Instagram page and click the LinkTree then find the tab titled "MRP and Koi Bubble Log" or visit https://linktr.ee/vikingskeyclub then scroll to find the tab!

Please contact our secretaries, Janiyah Tahod and Delila Seth for any questions, comments or concerns you may have! You may also text the Remind or Instagram (@vikingskeyclub)

SUMMER LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE What was the Summer Leadership Conference?

What did we do?

The Summer Leadership Conference is the first online conference hosted by Key Club International. It has attendees from different parts of the world come together for 3-days to attend workshops regarding positions, training, college, etc. Sadly, this was the replacement of International Convention which was set to be hosted in San Francisco, CA, but was cancelled due to COVID19.

At the Summer Leadership Conference we attended webinars on Zoom hosted by upperclassmen, alumni, and working adults from all over the world! This events was 3-days long and had various times. The workshops are now on Youtube on the Key Club International channel!

Reflection by Mark Sawyer

The Summer Leadership Conference was a pretty interesting experience. I was able to learn some things that actually benefited me. Specifically, college. The presenters were young, relatable and seemed happy to be there. They were upbeat and were eager to talk about the topic and to answer questions. I wish the session was longer because it was interesting to hear everything. It was definitely a fun and informative experience for me and would to attend again whenever another one pops up.

GAME NIGHT INTERCLUB What is an interclub? The expanded definition of an interclub minimizes the monotonous routine of simply going to another meeting and allows clubs to interact socially, apart from the regularly scheduled meetings, in community fundraisers, service projects and social programs. We can host events with schools in our divisions or our sponsoring Kiwanis!

What did we do?

We hosted this interclub with Mountain House High School located in the Tracy area. At this event, we hosted it on Discord where we played games such as Roblox, Minecraft, Agar.io, Skribbl.io, and Valorant. We had guests from other divisions and states as well as our very own, Mr.Pledger and Mr.Gonzalez!

Reflection by Omar Gonzalez During the interclub, I realized and loved how important building relationships during these crucial times is very important because we are all lacking social interaction and meeting new people is very exciting since you meet people with common interests and play games with them and take a moment and laugh with them and be able to talk and relieve stress of one another. No matter the situation everyone has everyone's backs, even if it's through the phone!

SERVICE WEEK AND DCM What was service week? Service week was a week where we did service for our community and various organizations. This was a five day event where you could make painted rocks, walks of chalk, cards, and do various types of trivia! You could have gained various amounts of hours for doing these projects, but sadly, this week has come to an end. We will try to do this again soon!

What was the July DCM?

A DCM is short for a "Division Council Meeting" where out lieutenant governor, Colin Kang provides us with division, district, and international updates. For this DCM, we also held a service project where we made cards for the SJ Hospice which were sent to their lovely staff for all their hard work during this pandemic!

Reflection by Angel Tovar During service week, I learned is how fun and enjoyable service projects are especially when done with friends because our little projects create big impacts on others. As for our July DCM, I learned that even though these events are small, they have the power to bring people up and create laughter throughout the Key Club community.

KIWANIS AND GENERAL MEETINGS What is a Kiwanis meeting? Our club is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Stockton. Kiwanis International is an international service club for adults. We require you all to attend at least 2 Kiwanis meetings/ a maximum of 5. Kiwanis meetings are on Tuesday at 12PM and will be hosted on Zoom until further notice. At this meeting, we go through Kiwanis updates and Key Club updates as well.

What is a general meeting?

A general meeting is a club meeting! We had our first club meeting in July on the 25th via Discord. At this meeting, we discussed our KB sheet, requirements, membership, etc. We have posted the recording of our meeting on the Instagram page as a IG TV live video! Feel free to check it out!

Kiwanis Meeting Reflection Kate Madrigal told us about her experience where she said, "In the Kiwanis meeting, I learned new information about Key Club and it's importance of membership. Currently, we are not able to see each other in person, but I liked how Kiwanis was able to put an hour of their day to attend and provide us with this space. There were also members from other schools including Edison. To me, it shows how strong the Kiwanis are and i am very glad to be apart of Key Club.

JULY SERVICE PROJECTS What was the purpose of our projects?

What did we do?

For the month of July, we wanted to help everyone stay productive over summer by providing you all with virtual and at home service projects. We provided you all with seven different projects such as Chalk Walk, FreeRice, BeanBeanBean, Illumination Foundation, Love for the Elderly, and Service Salute which were meant to prepare everyone for the upcoming school year.

For Chalk Walk, we created inspirational designs on our sidewalks to spread positivity within our community. As for FreeRice and BeanBeanBean, these apps require you to answer questions then they will donate food to food banks per right answer. Lastly, the Illumination Foundation, Love for the Elderly, and Service Salute had us make cards for various people and organizations.

Will there be more next month? Yes! Our officers have been developing projects for the month of August which will benefit the local elementary schools in our area. We plan on giving them resources such aa books and bookmarks which will be created virtually on Canva or Google Slides and will be mailed and printed by our officer at the end of the month. We also plan on making cards for foster children.

AUGUST EVENTS Kiwanis Meetings

Please attend the meetings hosted by Kiwanis! You are required to attend two Kiwanis related events, so we suggest taking time out of your day to attend one! They are every Tuesday at 12PM-1PM! They will be using the same Zoom code for every meeting, so contact us for the information. They are amazing people who will be there even if it is not related to Key Club. Special shoutout to Mrs.Gibson, Mr.Lane, Mr.Reddish, and all of Kiwanis!

August Service Projects

This month, our service projects will help out the schools in our area such as Mckinkey, Commodore, and etc. We will be making books and bookmarks for them via Google Sides, Canva or your preferred website. These will be mailed out and printed by our officers to avoid any COVID transmissions.

August DCM We will be hosting our August DCM on August 22nd at 3PM-5PM where we will be working with the Color-A-Smile foundation to send coloring pages. You must print and mail these out on your own. We will be hosting this event on Discord, so please contact us for the link and register for the DCM with the link in our bio!

Please text @edisonkois to 81010 to sign up for our Remind or you can text our President, Kirsten De Jesus your phone number to manually sign you up herself! You should also follow @vikingskeyclub for faster updates because we post first before sending out the Remind!

What should I be on the lookout for? Please be on the lookout for any more upcoming events relating to Key Club, Kiwanis, and our school! There is book pick up for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors throughout this month and has already passed for seniors. You may also pick up your lunch on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 10:30 AM - 12:30 AM.

Will we be having a meeting this month?

At the moment, this is still undecided due to the fact that the plan for club rush has not been released! We are hoping to host a meeting after club rush has happened to ensure all current and incoming members know all the updates regarding school, our club, our division, Kiwanis, and etc. Please check the Remind and Instagram often to stay updated.
