INSTRUMENTATION
Clarinet in Bb (doubling clarinet in Eb and bass clarinet in Bb)
Trombone (doubling bass trombone)
Percussion
Lions roar
bass drum
hammer on a wooden table (loud bang) crotales (1 octave)
suspended cymbal car horn (old fashioned, good quality!)
3 iron or tin buckets on a table, tubular bell (d’’)
5 temple blocks slide whistle
plunger on a smooth solid surface
bottle cork (important: cork NOT on a stick but on a string)
5 high quality bird whistles (may include cuckoo) marimba
Piano
Remove the board above the keyboard, revealing jacks and let-off buttons of the piano action. This procedure is absolutely safe and has been approved by a Steinway technician. Further instructions in the score about how to use the fillet and the plectrums, which come with the hire material ⦶ : damp the string with one hand inside the instrument, play the note on the keyboard cello, double bass: damp the string with several fingers to avoid any harmonics. Sound: noise
