NOTES Alice in Wonderland may be performed without chorus, in which case the following alterations and omissions should be considered: After Marcia (No. 21) follows the line p. 73, bar 4, hereafter the drum-roll with the subsequent line p. 74, bars 1-4, and then the line p. 74, last bar. Thereupon unaltered p. 75 (No. 23). From p. 76 onwards no alterations or omissions in the orchestra, nor in the spoken dialogue, whereas the chorus should be replaced by the three actors, speaking the words of the chorus rhythmically, but only in the following bars: 1. No. 24, bars 1-3 (p. 76-77) where one actor speaks the words of the basso voice, the second those of the tenor voice, and the third those of the alto voice 2. p. 79, bars 1-4: the words of the chorus to be recited by the three actors in unison 3. p. 80, bars 1-3: as above.
