CAÑÓN DEL NACAPULE: AVENTURA SIN LÍMITES Nacapule Canyon: a limitless adventure El cañón del Nacapule, es un cajón tropical entre el mar de Cortés y el desierto de Sonora ubicado a 5 km de la zona hotelera de San Carlos. Fue nombrado así por el árbol de Nacapule con el que se encuentra decorado todo el cañón.

a humedad de este cálido paraíso entre el desierto y el mar de Cortés han propiciado mucha vida animal y de flora, entre las que destaca la ardilla Chichimoco por ser una especie endémica.

Parque de aventuras Este destino es considerado uno de los protagonistas cuando se habla del ecoturismo en San Carlos, vertiente que en los últimos años ha tomado popularidad en la región.

Si te gusta obtener dosis de adrenalina aderezadas con mucha seguridad y diversión, estás en el lugar indicado. Cuenta con un circuito de cinco tirolesas que van desde los 110 a los 250 metros de longitud, atracciones complementadas por un puente tibetano y el llamado “paso del oso”, además de rapel, escalada y senderismo. Una vez que terminas tu recorrido puedes quedarte a disfrutar de la convivencia familiar en su área de palapas y asadores.

ESTERO EL SOLDADO: UN SANTUARIO A LA VIDA El Soldado Estuary, a sanctuary of life Manglar, mar azul y blanca espuma; dunas de arena, el desierto y la majestuosa montaña.

sta Área Natural Protegida (ANP) se ubica a 10 km del sureste de San Carlos. Su riqueza de ecosistemas y ausencia de urbanización ha hecho de este lugar el refugio de una gran biodiversidad.

Su máximo esplendor se presenta en las primeras horas del día, cuando el sol naciente devela el espectáculo de aves de distintas especies nadando en la boca del estero en busca de alimento.

his Natural Protected Area (ANP) is located 8 miles southeast from San Carlos. Its wealth of ecosystems and the absence of urbanization has made this place a refuge of a great biodiversity.

Its maximum splendor occurs during the first hours of daylight, when the rising sun reveals a spectacle of different bird species swimming in the mouth of the stuary in search of food.

Its visitor center is open from Wednesday through Sunday and it offers activities of low ecological impact such as guided tours of trails, kayaking cruises to see manglars up close, cycling and snorkeling.

s verano, la mejor época para la pesca deportiva donde cientos, miles de pescadores acuden a la cita con el pez vela, el dorado, el atún o el imponente marlín.

Llegan los vehículos con sus lanchas o los grupos de pescadores con sus pertrechos, listos para hacerse a la mar. Refulgen las cañas, los yates están de fiesta e inicia otra temporada en esta región visitada por los amantes de la pesca para competir entre ellos y ver quién poseerá el trofeo de mayor peso y tamaño.

San Carlos, a qué dudarlo, es el mejor sitio en Sonora para ir de pesca, con tranquilas aguas, buenas temperaturas y facilidades de renta de botes; pero hay una mayor atracción, como es el hecho de que 800 especies marinas colocan a este lugar en el segundo a nivel mundial.

Para algunos amantes de la pesca, sin duda el marlín es la especia más preciada: los hay azules, y negros aunque el más común es el rayado, todos ellos en estas aguas.

El vela también es muy común y en apariencia muy similar a su pariente picudo. Éstos son más pequeños, pesan hasta 115 libras y tienen una gran aleta dorsal, lo que le da su nombre.

¡PLAYA A LA VISTA! Beach Ahead!

Sin duda alguna, las vacaciones de verano se hicieron para ir a la playa, y San Carlos es una visita obligada para el turismo nacional durante los meses de mayo a septiembre.

E

l calor típico de la región se ve confortado por sus refrescantes playas con paisajes que no verás en otro lugar.

La playa San Francisco es la más extensa. Hoteles, restaurantes y condominios te dan una bella vista al mar. Aquí el oleaje es ideal para los paseos en kayak, lancha y esnórquel.

La playa Piedras Pintas por el contrario, está en condiciones naturales, es por eso que los campamentos familiares se hacen notar los fines de semana. Además, a poca distancia de aquí, está el Mirador escénico, catalogado por National Geographic como la mejor vista al mar, este lugar ofrece el escenario perfecto para la contemplación del majestuoso cerro Tetakawi y la fauna del mar de Cortés.

La playa Los Algodones es la preferida de las familias por la versatilidad de amenidades que ofrece.

Su nombre se lo debe a las dunas de arena blanca sobre las cuales puedes deslizarte en una tabla o tomar un recorrido a caballo a la orilla durante el atardecer.

Los paseos en lancha, tabla remo, o simplemente nadar no se hacen esperar, sus cristalinas aguas son aptas para todos. Luego, por la noche los bares encienden en fiesta a los turistas con su música en vivo, variada comida y bebidas bien frías.

Tres kilómetros más adentro se encuentra la comunidad La Manga I y II, donde familias de pescadores se han establecido para vivir y vender los mariscos más frescos de toda la región. El restaurante La Manga Doña Rosita te espera con exquisitos platillos frente a una impresionante vista al mar.

San Francisco beach is the longest. Hotels, restaurants, and condos will give you a beautiful sea view. Here, the sea conditions are ideal for kakaying, boating and snorkeling.

Piedras Pintas beach on the other hand, is in under natural conditions, that’s why many campgrounds stand out on weekends. Los Algodones beach is a favorite for families for its versatility of amenities it offers. Its name is derived from the white sand dunes, on which you can slide down on a sand board, or take a tour on horseback on the shore during sunset.

Boat cruises, paddle boarding or simply swimming should not be kept waiting, its crystalline waters are suitable for everyone. Afterwards, at night all the bars light up the tourists in celebration with their live music, diverse food and ice cold drinks.

LA NUEVA CARA DE SAN CARLOS The New Face of San Carlos San Carlos ha sido durante mucho tiempo el territorio de invierno del extranjero retirado que busca invertir en la calidez y la luz del sol. Ha ocurrido un cambio sutil en el clima de bienes raíces, los inversionistas de hoy son mexicanos educados y profesionales que están comprando una segunda casa para uso personal y de inversión.

asta hace poco, los típicos personajes de San Carlos han sido los “pájaros de nieve”, estadounidenses o canadienses de la tercera edad, quienes llegan aquí a principios de otoño y se retiran al primer indicio del verano mexicano. Compran casas cerca de la ciudad con fachada de ladrillo, arcos pintorescos, y pintadas en colores vibrantes. El estilo de vida relajado, las cálidas playas, la pesca de altura, y la calidad de vida asequible hace que regresen año tras año.

El ambiente relajado y el encanto de San Carlos todavía está vivo y sano, pero existe una nueva oleada de energía que viene al pueblo; un aire de afluencia con un moderno toque de juventud. Estos nuevos jóvenes inversionistas están llegando de ciudades cercanas como Hermosillo y Obregón, las cuales se localizan a corta distancia, para disfrutar de la playa

San Carlos has long been a winter territory of the retired foreigner seeking investment in the warmth and sunshine. There has been a subtle change in the real estate climate here and today’s investors are educated, professional Mexican Nationals who are buying secondary homes for personal and investment uses.

U

ntil recently, the typical San Carlos characters have been senior “Snowbird” Americans or Canadians who arrive here in early fall and leave at the first hint of Mexican summer. They buy homes close in town with brick accents, quaint arches, and painted in vibrant colors. The relaxed lifestyle, warm sandy beaches, deep sea fishing, and affordable living keep them coming back year after year.

That laid back feeling and charm of San Carlos is still alive and well, but there is a surge of new energy coming to town; an air of affluence with a youthful modern edge.

These young new investors are coming from nearby cities such as Hermosillo and Obregon, which is an easy drive to enjoy every weekend with their families and friends at the beach. They prefer their own style of construction with minimalistic décor, straight lines, and white wash with accent colors only in very small doses.

In a recent poll, members from the San Carlos Association of Realtors (SCMAR) reported that in 65% of the transactions, the buyers were of Mexican nationality.

Of those sales, 98% of the Mexican buyers purchased a second home for vacation or investment purposes. Most of those homes were located in gated communities or on the west side of town, where the development is fairly new.

Las casas frente a la playa rara vez están disponibles y se venden por mucho más dinero. De acuerdo al administrador de la Asociación de Propietarios de Costa del Mar, ha habido siete cambios de propietario en menos de seis meses, de los cuales el 100% de los nuevos propietarios son mexicanos.

Es emocionante ver cómo San Carlos ha crecido en la última década. Con las nuevas ideas e influencia de nuestros nuevos y jóvenes miembros de la comunidad, San Carlos se prepara para otro potencial estirón de crecimiento y seguramente seguirá disfrutando de desarrollo continuo en los años venideros.

Costa del Mar is just one of these popular west side beach communities where an undeveloped lot is listed for a median price of $68,000 USD and the average home sells for approximately $225,000 USD. Beachfront homes are rarely available and sell for significantly more money. According to the Administrator of the Costa Del Mar Homeowner’s Association, there have been seven transfers of ownership in less than six months of which 100% of the new owners are Mexican Nationals.

It is exciting to see how San Carlos has grown in the past decade. With the fresh ideas and influences of our new, younger community members, San Carlos is poised for another potential growth spurt and will certainly enjoy continuing development in the upcoming years.
