Una de nuestras fi estas más populares es la Feria de Abril, una semana en la que Sevilla ofrece una estampa alegre y colorista con su ir y venir de fl ores y volantes.

Con la prueba del “alumbrao” (encendido de las miles de bombillas de su portada y calles), el sábado 4 de mayo a las 12 de la noche arranca una de las fi estas más importantes de la ciudad. Hasta el 11, toda Sevilla mira al Real de la Feria, situado en el barrio de Los Remedios, un recinto de calles con casetas efímeras, decoradas con luces y farolillos, que tuvo su origen en 1846 como feria de compra-venta de ganado.

Durante una semana se puede disfrutar en el Real del paseo de caballos (hasta las 20 horas), con preciosos coches carruajes, caballistas y amazonas, y parar a tomar una copa en algunas de las casetas públicas viendo un baile por sevillanas. Junto a la portada, encontrarás instalado un punto de información turística.

Uno de los grandes atractivos de la Feria es que las mujeres visten de flamenca, el único traje regional que está sujeto a tendencias de moda y que se complementa con vistosos adornos como mantoncillos, pendientes, peinas y flores. Si quieres vivir la experiencia como las sevillanas, puedes acercarte al centro de la ciudad para comprarte un traje, que incluso podrán arreglarte en unas horas.

El domingo 5 de mayo tendrá lugar la XXXIV Exhibición de Enganches en la Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza, un concurso de enganches de gran tradición que muestra los coches de caballos más representativos y espectaculares de la ciudad. Ese mismo día por la tarde, la Maestranza acoge la famosa corrida de rejones. Además, durante la semana de Feria hay corridas de toros todos los días. Te recomendamos que pasees por la zona del Arenal porque su ambiente festivo y taurino es muy curioso

El sábado 11 de mayo un espectáculo de fuegos artifi ciales a la orilla del río Guadalquivir despedirá esta Feria 2019.

TIP’S PARA NO “PERDERTE”

 La Feria de Abril tiene lugar en un recinto cerrado en el barrio de Los Remedios. Para llegar, es recomendable que utilices el transporte público.  La Portada de la Feria es diferente cada año. Este 2019 está inspirada en el Pabellón de Sevilla de la Exposición de 1929.  Ten en cuenta que la mayoría de las casetas son privadas.

Un buen plan es dar un paseo por el Real para ver el paseo de caballos y volver al centro para comer. La zona está mucho más tranquila y comerás mejor.  En Feria es muy típico comer jamón serrano y ‘pescaíto’ frito, regado por bebidas como el fi no, manzanilla, ‘rebujito’ (manzanilla y refresco de lima-limón) y cerveza muy fresquita.  Repartidos por el centro de la ciudad, encontrarás muchas tiendas y talleres especializados para comprarte un traje de fl amenca, que incluso podrán arreglarte en unas horas.  Durante la semana de Feria hay corridas de toros todos los días, puedes consultar fechas y carteles en la página web de la Real Maestranza.  Si vas a comprar entradas para una corrida de toros, ten mucho cuidado con la reventa. THE APRIL FAIR

One of our most popular festivities is the Feria de Abril (April Fair), a week when Seville offers a colourful and joyful illustration of the city with the come and go of fl owers and ruffl es.

It is with the lighting up (“alumbrao”)of the thousands of light bulbs across the entrance gate (portada) and the streets of the Fair at midnight on Saturday 4 May that the celebration of one of the most important festivities of the city commences. Until the 11st, the entire city of

Seville watches the Real de la Feria – fairgrounds covered in rows of casetas (temporary marquee tents decorated with lanters and lights) situated in the neighbourhood of Los Remedios, and which originated as a livestock trade fair in 1846.

During one week, one can enjoy the elegant horsemen and women riding their beautiful carriages through the Real (until 8 p.m.), and stop to have a drink in one of the public casetas while watching people dancing sevillanas. A tourist information point can be found next to the portada.

One of the big attractions of the Feria is the women’s fl amenca dresses, which is the only regional costume subjected to fashion tendencies and which is complemented with attractive accessories such as shawls, earrings, combs and fl owers. If you would like to live the experience as a true sevillana, you can visit the shops in the centre of the city where you can purchase a dress and where you can even be primped in a few hours.

The XXXIV Exhibición de Enganches, an exhibition of traditional carriage hitches which shows the most representative and spectacular carriages of the city, takes place on Sunday 5 May in the Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza. That same afternoon, the Maestranza welcomes the famous corrida de rejones (bullfi ght on horseback). In addition, there are bullfi ghts every day during the week of Feria. We suggest you make the most of the curious festive, bullfi ghting ambience by walking through the Arenal area.

On Saturday 11 May, a fi rework show on the Guadalquivir river bank will bid farewell to the 2019 Feria.

 The April Fair takes place in closed fairgrounds in the neighbourhood of Los Remedios. It is advisable to reach it by public transport.  The portada is different each year. In 2019, it is inspired by the Seville Pavilion of the 1929 Exhibition.  Bear in mind that most casetas are private. It is a good idea to stroll through the Real to see the passing of carriages and fi nd your way back to the centre to eat. This area will be much quieter and you will enjoy your food better.  During Feria, it is very typical to eat jamón serrano (Spanish ham) and pescaito frito (fried fi sh) accompanied with drinks such as fi no (fi ne wine), manzanilla, rebujito (manzanilla with lemon-lime soft-drink), or a refreshing beer.  You will fi nd an array of specialised shops and workshops distributed around the city, where you will be able to purchase a fl amenca dress and even be primped in a few hours.  During the week of Feria, there are bullfi ghts every day. All dates and programmes are available on the Real Maestranza website.  If you are planning on purchasing tickets for a bullfi ght, be careful with resales. It is advisable to purchase your tickets from an offi cial ticket offi ce, such as La Teatral (Calle Velázquez, 12).
