NEW INPUT IN A NEW FORMAT
Watching films together and discussing them has been possible even in times of the coronavirus pandemic. The first Film night was staged as a Zoom event and featured a documentary about designer Dieter Rams. Gary Hustwit’s film includes scenes playing at the Oskar von Miller Forum, where Dieter Rams paid a visit in 2016 and discussed design questions with Fritz Frenkler, Professor of Industrial Design at the TUM.
Renzo Piano: The Architect of Light spotlights the building process of the Centro Botín in Santander. The controversial discussions between client, architect and local residents provide insights into the complexity of planning large-scale projects, but also into the work of one of the most renowned architects of our times.
The award-winning French documentary Tomorrow is about finding solutions to a different future. The makers of the film – actress Mélanie Laurent and French activist Cyril Dion – interview experts and visit projects and initiatives around the world that pursue ecological, economic and democratic ideas. In the discussion that followed, the scholarship holders asked themselves whether the projects shown can provide guidance for our future.
