Mathematics with 90 mini-books – 1st grade

Workshops and activities for primary school

90 mini-books to build in order to learn and review the mathematics teaching contents of the first grade of primary school in a fun, engaging and motivating way. Mini-books are small thematic 8-page booklets, each dedicated to a specific learning content. Each mini-book features easy exercises to do and images to color to develop logical-mathematical prerequisites and counting skills. In fact, children learn numbers up to 20 and basic operations quickly and easily.

Starting from an A4 photocopy, children independently build mini-books using their creativity and fine motor skills: folding, cutting precisely, mentally rotating and predicting the result, and experimenting. Not only that, the minibooks enrich the shelves of their pocket mini-library represented on the final page of the book. At the beginning of each section of the book there are theoretical indications on the processes involved and a laboratory part closely connected to the contents of the minibooks.

HOLIDAY HOMEWORK

An original program for summer homework that accompanies students in reviewing and reinforcing the contents of the primary school curriculum with fun activities based on real-life situations. The books contain both a part of stories and activities, and a part of cut-out materials, which is why they are called "take-apart" books, which make the process more active. The activities include, in addition to mathematics and Italian, exercises in history, geography, science, English and coding.

MINI MYSTERIES OF TEXT COMPREHENSION

THE CASES OF LUCY AND HENRY

The series, designed for children in the last two years of primary school (aged 8 to 10), offers the most famous stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle revisited and enriched with captivating challenges. Through reading the story and carrying out the proposed activities, reading comprehension skills will be improved

To solve the mystery of each workbook, young readers, through a deeper and more reflective reading, based on inferences and deductions, will have to solve many challenging puzzles and, at the same time, practise, in a playful way, in the 10 skill areas involved in text comprehension, indicated by Professor Rossana De Beni and Professor Cesare Cornoldi of the University of Padua.

Vol. 2 – The adventure of the blue stone

Lucy Holmes and Henry Watson, descendants of the famous Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson, will have to investigate the case of Mr. Baker, who, during the late evening of a London Christmas, is attacked by a group of scoundrels and, in the scuffle, loses a hat and a goose. As always, a series of situations will lead our heroes to investigate the recondite underworld meanderings of the human mind.

Vol. 1 - The Red-Hair League

Lucy Holmes and Henry Watson, direct descendants of the famous Sherlock Holmes and his assistant Dr Watson, called to investigate the dissolution of the Red-Hair League, soon discover that, behind the history of this bizarre and extravagant association, hides a cunning criminal plan. And they will do everything in their power to unveil it.

4 Analisi del comportamento problema

4. An in-depth analysis of the problem behaviour

Come intervenire

Date al bambino le seguenti

Regole

Posso alzarmi dal banco, ma se mi alzo devo fare silenzio e non disturbare

Posso uscire dall’aula solo con il permesso

Posso uscire 1 volta all’ora La prima uscita la posso fare dopo la prima mezz’ora di scuola

Posso stare fuori solo 5 minuti

In classe

Organizzate la lezione mantenendo l’alternanza «lavoro-pausa-lavoro-pausa-lavoro-pausa»: fate durare ogni unità di attività circa 30-60 minuti (pause comprese).

MONTESSORI TEACHING TOOLS

Created in cooperation with Fondazione Montessori Italia and Montessori Craft, this new series of wooden educational tools, inspired by Maria Montessori’s pedagogical approach, encourages children to memorize combinations in basic calculation, preparing the calculation in mind and laying the foundations for subsequent more advanced learning.

Each wooden board enhances the learning of abstract concepts thanks to the manipulation experience. Through the repetition of each exercise and the progressive level of complexity, children are supported by the self-correction mechanism and gradually come to master the 4 operations and the concepts

Social stories with AAC 1

Personal care and hygiene, emotions and behaviour

The book collects 40 short social stories written with the symbols of Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) which clearly and simply describe situations, routines, behaviours, skills and emotions identified as among the most frequent in children aged 3-4 years and up (the age at which you begin to develop autonomy and the ability to choose and manage emotions).

The stories briefly explain what is happening, why it happens and what attitudes to adopt in that specific situation

The stories are divided into 3 main areas:

• Personal care and hygiene (I brush my teeth, take a shower, learn to get dressed, etc.)

• Behavior (at the table, in line, apologizing, etc.)

• Emotions (crying, anger, frustration, etc.)

SOCIAL STORIES

Three new illustrated books with ACC!

A new series of illustrated books written in ACC (Augmentative Alternative Communication) symbols which is aimed at those with complex communication needs, but also at those taking their first steps in reading. In fact, AAC supports the linguistic and communicative understanding of children through the use of graphic symbols. Colourful, educational and fun, these illustrated books simply describe everyday adventures, both big and small, through a social story dedicated to a particular autonomy:

• the first volume tells the story of Giulia's ability to brush her teeth;

• the second volume tells the story of Luca and saying goodbye to his parents;

• the third volume helps little ones embark on a journey through Youssef's story.

Social stories can be read in different contexts: at home, at school, with relatives or brothers/sisters, and in rehabilitation centers.

From action to language in children with typical and atypical development

A cognitive and socio-semiotic perspective

The volume offers a review of studies conducted on the continuity between actions, gestures, and language in children with typical and atypical development. The five chapters of the book offer insights for new research and clinical practice with the aim of rethinking communication and language in relation to motor and cognitive development, and the surrounding environment. It is necessary to abandon entrenched and taken-for-granted ideas, as early diagnoses and interventions aimed at children with typical and atypical development must take into account the multimodal aspects of communication and language.

PLAY WITH YOUR BRAIN!

In recent years, interest in neuroscience and the functioning of the mind and brain has grown considerably. The new editorial series, Play with your brain!, born from the collaboration between Edizioni Erickson and the researchers of CIMeC, the Interdepartmental Center for Mind and Brain of the University of Trento, allows neuroscience to be made simple, engaging and within everyone's reach, responding to questions such as "To what extent can a brain regenerate?", "How does memory work?", "Can new neurons form in adults too?", and reveals the secrets of what happens as children, as adults, and as elderly in conditions of typical development or neurodivergence, health or disease.

After reading analyses, debates, experiments, anecdotes and stories, the reader will be able to try their hand at games and activities to improve and train some cognitive functions, putting themselves to the test in a fun way.

READING BETWEEN THE LINES

Reading between the lines is an editorial series dedicated to the mental health of boys, girls and adolescents. It is the result of the collaboration between Erickson Editions and the Holden School, and it is aimed at anyone interested, for personal reasons (parents, adolescents), as well as for professional reasons (psychologists, educators, teachers), in closely knowing the forms and symptoms of some of the most recurrent and frequent psychological disorders in younger generations.

Just one, well done

Reading between the lines about self-harm

Marta, Simone and Angela are different ages, they come from different families, they lead lives that are not similar. Yet, they have something in common, something that unfortunately they share with many other peers: they commit acts of self-harm, they inflict pain and marks on their bodies to find relief from an internal suffering that they are unable to communicate and for which they are unable to ask for help The volume addresses self-harm through the voices of young people who voluntarily inflict cuts and injuries on themselves as an expression of a deep, unmanageable discomfort, to express that which they cannot find a better way to do; it frames the phenomenon from a scientific point of view but with simple and understandable language, it helps us to understand what can trigger it, how to recognize it and intervene promptly.

Reading between the lines about school anxiety

The book tells of school anxiety through the voice and stories of Claudio, Chiara and Marco, three children of different ages but with something in common: they demonstrate resistance, or total refusal, to attend school. Every time Claudio is called to the blackboard, he has a panic attack. Chiara, on the other hand, would like to disappear completely, and Marco angrily refuses to go to school because he is afraid that something negative could happen to his parents.

Each story is accompanied by a scientific point of view which, with simple language, helps explain school anxiety more closely and offers advice to prevent and – if necessary – intervene effectively. School anxiety can severely compromise family relationships, relationships with classmates and academic performance.

He was a good person

Views on male violence against women

He was a good person promotes significant change in society through a broader and more comprehensive vision of gender violence and offers important stimuli for learning to adopt a broad and systemic perspective, the only way to address the problem.

Challenging existing stereotypes, the book addresses the complex dynamics of gender violence analyzed in the context of a patriarchal culture that has always legitimized violent behavior. Not only that: gender violence has too often been used as a tool to manage emotions and maintain power and control, traits considered “characteristic of male identity”.
