TASK 1

Listen to my story Task description With this activity, we propose that children create an audio fairy tale. The audio fairy tale offers many opportunities to work on linguistic skills, creativity, while at the same time presenting a challenge for the child. A large part of the task, especially for the intermediate and advanced levels, is structured for cooperative learning. Recording the voices of the children offers, instead, an opportunity for a tutoring activity. The teacher can first work with a small group of students, and then ask them to guide their classmates. The audio fairy tale can be made according to three different levels of technological complexity.

Level A BASIC

The children are asked to record the text of a fairy tale. The tools needed are those which are typically present in any personal computer. The children are assigned the task of using cooperative learning to write an original fairy tale. The book provides some materials to facilitate group work. The recording of the voices will be completed by the insertion of a music soundtrack produced by the children using specific instruments, which are described in the following pages. The final product will be uploaded onto YouTube. This task requires the building of an audio fairy tale on the Scratch platform. In this case, the instructions provided here will lead the teacher through the process, starting with the registration on the platform. Teachers who are already registered, or who already have some experience can take the following pages as suggestions and interpret them according to their skill level.

Systematic observations and congnitive autobiographies The three activity levels propose specific pages for the detection of systematic observations and some suggestions for cognitive autobiographies.

Since there are different versions of the same software, the indications given in this volume may not correspond perfectly to the steps to be followed during the PC activities with the students.
