MUSIC

Torpedo Rose

Releases Debut EP BY TRAVIS JONES “Words don’t judge but people do,” Torpedo Rose front man sings in their track “Words Don’t Judge” off of the group’s debut EP which released earliest this year in February. The five song EP showcases what the group can do with tunes of all different tempos. The second track on the EP, “Waiting For You,” is perfect for throwing back a few beers on the beach thinking about your lost love. With emotion flooding the lyrics, the tune is very easy to connect to you and you will more than likely find yourself singing along to the “My mistakes continue to haunt me like a reoccurring dream.” After listening to the EP it is very evident that the

group is going for a rock n roll sound, but has been influenced by various genres and styles. Torpedo Rose is often compared to The Beatles, The Black Keys, and Jack White! If you ever see the group live, you may recognize the front man Tony Natalizio from the group Spare Change, a group that preforms in downtown Greenville quite often. Torpedo Rose is based out of Burlington, NC and is currently without a label. You can now pick up their EP online or in store if you feel like making a trip to Burlington to pick it up. Torpedo Rose is on their way to take the rock genre by storm!

LIFE

SUPPORT THE UNDERDOG BY DAWN OF THE UNDERGROUND Another blank page, a head full of memories, ideas screaming to fall into place. Tattered lists of notes, scattered memories, lives lived with good intention. What to say? Who will hear? Who will care? Are we marching toward oblivion, or is there a chance to make a difference? I have been supporting the underdog; the meek since I can remember – not always with good results. Why do it, its because when you see that genuine smile, feel the firm embrace of a hug that says THANK YOU – that’s why I do it. And honestly, because someone has to. In addition to my Carmen San Diego like adventures, my crusades to change the world – I have been supporting local, national music as well as the people and charities behind the scenes. This effort has been expanded to include a website, social media (Instagram - dawnoftheunderground_, Twitter - @dawnlemaydotu), a radio show, and an open door to my home & my time for those who need it. Coming up make sure to tune into WWW.ROCKRAGERADIO. COM , or WWW.DAWNOFTHEUNDERGROUND.COM on Monday nights at 10pm EST for the DAWN OF THE UNDERGROUND RADIO SHOW – its’ an OPEN FORMAT show – talking about whatever needs to be talked about - spotlighting Local and National artists, CHARITIES, RADIO TAKEOVERS (by bands and individuals) in other words it’s a GOOD TIME which is heard in over 81 countries. Follow me, and my crews’ adventures as we travel around the world supporting the music, people and events that we love.

Food for Thought; I don’t even remember where I heard this but, there was a group project, and as part of the project everyone was to write their name with a marker on a balloon. Next, the balloons were randomly placed in a room, and the participants were told to retrieve their balloon within 5 minutes. AND GO. You can image everyone was pushing, pulling, positioning to try to find their balloon. In the end, hardly anyone had found what they were looking for. So they were asked to do the same thing again, but this time people worked together - they yelled out the names on the balloons and within the 5 minute time period – everyone had been matched with their balloon, everyone had found what they were looking for. Kinda like life isn’t, it feels like we are alone, struggling through this quicksand called life - the more we struggle the worse it becomes. But by changing what we do finding another way, working with each other – our struggles aren’t so great – and maybe we can all find what we are looking for. Til next time, I wish you all Peace, and safe travels – and to open your eyes, and become part of the solution. Until next time, follow me as I support the musicians, comedians, entertainers, and the fans that love them while I am out and about bringing the music and entertainment that we love into the light! LIFE

Got Swag?

Get Some Style! BY RANDY MOORE Pull your pants up boys; you’re far from a gentleman. Class is something you are born with, something that cannot be replicated. Class is innate and embedded in the aura of a man. Swag, however, is something any classless idiot can acquire by simply listening to any song on the Billboard 100 list. Swag is the latest trend strictly based on graphic t-shirts, high top sneakers, and practically anything with the designer’s emblem in plain view. Swag is a lifestyle choice that is lived, breathed, and often – smoked. Essentially, the great debate about swag versus class is a tug of war in the transition from boyhood to manhood.

Style

The right look defines an image. Nothing is quite the panty dropper like a man in a well-tailored suit. Cufflinks, loafers, tie or bowtie; the beauty is in the details. Men with class make the hearts of women everywhere melt. The sleek and refined style that accompanies a man with class makes him ooze sophistication. A certain stigma comes with dressing with swag. A woman is more like to approach a man dressed in a classy suit, than one in a hat representing his favorite team or brand.. The latter command attention, while the former command respect.

Relationships

Any boy with swag will tell you that he wants his girlfriend to be jealous of the other girls he looks at. On the contrary, a man with class will tell you that he wants the women who look at him, to be jealous of the woman he is with. Men with class know that chivalry is far from dead.

GVM | 17

Men know the value to the women they are with, and have respect for her. Boys assume that it is the woman’s privilege to be in their presence, and act accordingly.

Dating

No man with class will ever let a woman go Dutch on a date. Yes, she will do “the reach” and offer to pay, but he would never accept her offer. The polite thing to do is to treat a woman when you take her out with you, and a gentleman understands that. Swag says you’re a “boss” if you make a woman pay on a date and anything else.

Business

Boys with swag hustle, men with class have careers. Hustlin’ is what a man without an education resorts to in order to make money. Granted, he could make a lot of it by doing this, but most of the time his hustle may end in you bailing him out of jail at 5 am. Men with class are generally highly educated, and know how to conduct themselves in business. They wear suits to boardrooms and make things happen.

Sex

This one is simple. Men with class understand that women always, always come first. Remember, guys; it’s a simple equation. Class = Swag + Money

SOUND

1994 Goes 1989 G-Vegas Takes On The Taylor Swift: 1989 World Tour World Tour BY TRAVIS JONES “You are NOT your mistakes, you are NOT damaged goods… you are NOT the opinion of someone who doesn’t know you” Taylor Swift told the sold out crowd at her show at the PNC Arena in Raleigh on June 9th. If you have ever been to a Taylor Swift show, you know that before many of her songs she gives the meaning of the song and somewhat of a motivational speech before beginning the track. The 1989 World Tour was no different with many speeches being given before the start of a track. The 1989 World Tour took what is known as an arena tour and took it to new heights, making the show more interactive and enjoyable for every person in the arena. Taylor preformed every track off of her fifth studio album, 1989, as well as some oldies including “Love Story,” “We Are Never Getting Back Together,” “Enchanted,” and “I Knew You Were Trouble.” They weren’t the versions if the megahits you heard on the radio years ago however. Taylor remixed each of her old tracks to fit in with her new pop sound. The music was incredible but so were the stage and the props used during the show. Every fan that attended the show was given a bracelet that is programmed to light up at certain points in the show, illuminating the arena throughout the whole show! The stage was also magnificent, including a propeller style catwalk that rises into the air allowing Taylor to achieve her desire to be as close to as many fans as possible. Personally my favorite part of the show was when Swift slowed things own and mashed up “Enchanted,” my favorite track off of her third studio album “Speak Now” with my favorite song off of her “1989” album, “Wildest Dreams.” Swift played both tracks on the electronic keyboard which was of course personalized to fit the 1989 World Tour which made you feel like you had went back in time to 1980’s! The 1989 World Tour is definitely an experience I recommend for any Swiftie and trust me when I say that you will suffer from post concert blues once you leave the arena. Taylor Swift puts on a show and will connect to you during the show, whether it be she describing how she went through something very similar to you or by singing your favorite song by her. The 1989 World Tour was my second Taylor Swift show I have been to and I plan on going to her future tours as well.

LIFE

EMERALDS OF THE CITY WHERE THEY ARE NOW dana buschine Hey G-Vegas family! I am entering my fifth year with G-Vegas magazine. I remember my first event as a G-Vegas girl, Halloween my Freshman year at ECU. So many memories since. I can’t tell you how it has been since I left the magazine, because I am still with this crazy bunch. I am serving my term as the 2015 Queen Emerald of the City. Just last month I went on my exciting trip to Las Vegas! What a vacation! And I thank G-Vegas for the amazing opportunity! I had never been to that side of the country before. Very different from here, that is for sure. And if you have never seen the Grand Canyon, when you get a chance, go see it. Breath taking view. Since being crowned the 2015 Queen Emerald of the City, I got hired on with Anheuser-Busch as one of their Brand Activation Managers. Most of you have probably seen me around the bars and restaurants with an iPad making people wear a headset. If it weren’t for G-Vegas, this door would have never opened for me. Because of the magazine I got to do a lot of Pepsi and Bud Light promotional events, which lead to me getting this awesome job!

I still continue to model when I find free time between work and school. I have done a few photo shoots for Manna Photography and 99.5 The X Radio. My plans after graduation, and unfortunately leaving the magazine, too, will be to move to New York and continue work with Anheuser-Busch while also pursuing a career in the modeling industry. I have always dreamed of becoming a high fashion model. So keep a look out for me! G-Vegas magazine has been a huge part of my life. These amazing people are not just my friends, they’ve become family. They have supported me and encouraged me in every decision. They have also been there with me through every struggle. It is bitter sweet coming to the end of my time with them, but G-Vegas Magazine will always have a place in my heart. I will never forget every contest, beer fest, music fest, sampling, pool party, and every other memory we have made. I wouldn’t trade them for the world.

Love you always, Dana

EMERALDS OF THE CITY WHERE THEY ARE NOW DANYEL BENNETT First of all, I cannot believe it has been 6 years since I competed to be in the Emeralds of the City Calendar!! Doing the competition was not necessarily in my comfort level but the photo shoot at the beach was totally worth it! As far as where I am now, still right here in good ole G-Vegas! Loving life with my wonderful other half, Cole! Doing the calendar made me realize I had a little more confidence than I thought I had, and certainly allowed me to meet a lot of new people. I’m currently in my sixth year of my Cosmetology career, working in the heart of Greenville on Arlington Blvd at Salon 300 West!

I spend the majority of my time at the salon with my wonderful clients, and try to spend my spare time on the water somewhere with family. Thanks to G-Vegas Magazine for giving myself and all the other beautiful girls over the last ten years the opportunity to have a little fun and be a part of a wonderful business that has always loved being in Greenville!! That’s enough for a loose idea to begin with, and from there it goes wherever. It’s limited by how much time I have that day and by when I get sick of it. Sometimes I realize it’s not great and is never going to be great, so I just end it for the day.” Mike shares his everydays and vid-

And I don’t feel a sense of ownership after I make something. Once you post it on the Internet, people can do what they want with it. Kids are going to copy things; that’s just how it is.
