Student Recreation Center Expansion Welcome returning and new students, faculty and staff. Campus Recreation has increased your opportunities for recreational sports, classes and activities by expanding the programming within the Student Recreation Center. During the fall semester, we invited the campus community to experience rock climbing on a 50-foot RockWall, strengthen their muscles using our state-of-the-art weight and cardio equipment, swim in the relaxing leisure pool or six-lane lap pool, shower in the new locker rooms, get in a game of pick-up basketball or indoor soccer on our new courts, or take a fitness class in the new multipurpose room. We are continuing to enhance our services to better serve your needs. In the spring semester, the golf simulator and practice area will give golfers a chance to improve their game and three additional multipurpose rooms will also open. Parking is convenient and located in the new Speck Street Parking Garage, by the West Campus Fields. The Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs, Marketing and Fitness and Wellness offices are located in Harris Underground. Watch our expansion video and learn more about the Recreation Center expansion at www.campusrecreation. txstate.edu.

Faculty and Staff
Get involved with Sport Clubs
Each year teams search for knowledgeable faculty and staff advisors. Additional interest in instruction or coaching is also welcomed. “As a Women’s Soccer Club advisor, I get to make a difference in a sport that I love. I’ve been a soccer player for 20 years, both while in school and in adult leagues. I can translate my skills to others through advising,” said Julie Saldiva, Texas State staff member.

New Clubs Coming Soon So far this year, our program
has opened its doors to a wide array of potential clubs. Leading the way is the formation of a bass fishing club, the BassCats. Also in the mix is rowing, sand volleyball, bowling, golf, women’s ultimate disc and Brazilian jiujutsu. These additions to our program attract a larger range of students, allowing for more of our diverse student population to become involved. Want to start your own club? It might be easier than you think! Round up 10 interested members, create a constitution, and apply to the Sport Club
Alliance after becoming a registered student organization with the Campus Activities and Student Organizations office. We are excited about the future possibilities we can offer our students. As our student body grows, so will our students’ competitive sporting interests. Being able to offer a diverse and unique mix of clubs will expand the student body’s opportunities to get involved during their college years and show their Bobcat pride.
Intramural Sports Eligibility: All currently enrolled students, faculty and staff are eligible to participate in all Intramural Sports (IM) activities/events. We have men’s, women’s and co-rec divisions as well as fraternity, sorority, residence hall and independent leagues. Entry Procedures: Registration for Intramural
Sports is on a first-come, first-serve basis, using the instant scheduling system. With the instant scheduling system, participants can pick the days and times that are best for their teams. All registration takes place in the Intramural Sports Office, temporarily located in Harris Underground.
Free Agent Program: If you need help finding an IM team to join, our Free Agent program is just for you! The Free Agent program helps place students on teams that need assistance. Captain’s Duties: Register your team by the deadline
of each sport at the Intramural Sports Office. Provide the team name and day your team would like to play. Captains must also take the online Captain’s Response and Intramural Sports Handbook Quiz. The quiz takes only a couple of minutes; then your playing times will be confirmed.
Inside IM: An online weekly newsletter that ranks top
teams in league sports. Check the Web site to see if your team is ranked and vote for the player of the week.

It also teaches the skills and knowledge needed to provide care for victims of sudden cardiac arrest through the safe use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). Adult, Child, Infant CPR/AED Includes everything in the Adult CPR/AED course, but adds on the child and infant component of responding to breathing and cardiac emergencies. CPR for the Professional Rescuer This course teaches students to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants, use an AED on an adult or child victim of cardiac arrest and use personal protective equipment to stop blood borne pathogens and other diseases from spreading. This course is one step up from the Adult, Child, Infant CPR/AED course. First Aid The purpose of this course is to help participants identify and eliminate potentially hazardous conditions in their environment, recognize emergencies and make appropriate decisions for first aid care. It teaches skills that participants need to know in order to provide immediate care of a suddenly ill or injured person until more advanced medical care arrives.
