Thaddeus Jameson Mind Maps
Thad Jameson o you know where the name Saab comes from? I don’t remember either but TJ does! Would you even venture to D guess what squad car the Chicago police used in 1958, or what kind of ambulance was used by Bellevue Hospital in 1973? TJ could tell you or better yet draw any car from any police department (or ambulance for that matter) in almost any city in the US –with the approximate year! Thaddeus Jameson age 29 or “TJ” as he prefers, lives with autism. Diagnosed at an early age at a time when there was little knowledge of this mysterious neurobiological disorder. Self-taught to read at age 3 and blessed with an eidetic (photographic) memory, TJ has used his drawing and painting to take charge of his life and his destiny. TJ is a paid tour guide at Erik’s Ranch in Edina, Minnesota. This is important as a significant portion of Erik’s model to help autistic adults find or create meaningful employment includes a kind of “Celebrity Status” giving historic architectural tours of Minneapolis and St Paul as well as art history tours at the Walker Art Center. His incredible knowledge and gentle bright optimistic demeanor sends each of his patrons home with an exciting new perspective. T had is a graduate of Dowling College, in New York and was nominated for the Fulbright Scholarship. He is currently the “Artist in Residence” at Artist League Studios (a think-tank studio for emerging artists) founded by native Minnesota painter Edward Lentsch. TJ discovered his talent at an early age working with pen, paints, to tell stories and create a complex transformative discovery into emotional art work that transcends any age or audience. is complexly unique style of drawing has almost the feel of Charles H Shultz. And as well someday he may also be equally regarded as such--- a true ‘Minnesota Treasure’! Through many years of study he has amassed significant knowledge that he takes to the canvas including sociology, arts, film, automobiles, and architecture that reaches depths beyond detailed description of cities like Minneapolis, St Paul and every borough of New York. His knowledge and love of classic automobiles is also a recurring theme through his work. Although he has to face many of the very same emotional issues that most artists struggle with, through his practice of art he continues to grow and make a significant impact on his community. With this unique developmental disorder and talent combined he endures and thrives living a miraculous story of contribution, commitment and courage that add something remarkable to Minnesota’s artistic legacy.
