Chinese New Year There is a long and deep connection between the UK and its Chinese diaspora– thought to be the oldest in Western Europe. Held annually between late January and mid-February, the Chinese New Year celebrations–the largest outside Asia–sees hundreds of thousands of people descend on the city. Besides enjoying the energetic parades, incredible street performers and traditional Chinese cuisine–the festivities also provide an opportunity for up-and-coming British Chinese artists, musicians and creatives to showcase their talent to a greater audience. You’ll almost always spot a celebrity or two enjoying the celebrations! The festivities culminate with an incredible parade and fireworks show in Leicester Square in the bustling west end.
