EESTEC Board Dear EESTECers, Another year came to an end for our Association. It’s been 32 years since the day our Association was born. 32 years ago the idea to connect all electrical engineering students across Europe was born. With the vision to establish new connections, friendships and to enhance the professional life of all members. EESTEC is developing every year though the development of its members. New projects were established through the last years and the activities being organized, aim to satisfy the vision of our Association. We can see a network growing bigger and stronger every year. So many generations passed through this Association and they all carry the best memories they had from their EESTEC journey. EESTEC is a big family, where someone can take different challenges, make mistakes, learn something new and develop skills that will have a positive impact in his/her personal and professional life. The Association has taken significant steps in many directions, which some of them are the creation of a brand new technical magazine, the renewing of our offer for future partnerships, the creation of the new strategic plan, which our Association will follow for the next years and the finding of a new archiving system which will help us make sure that the knowledge will be reserved.

Yearbook Team Dear EESTECers, We are the people that have been doing this wonderful Yearbook. Throughout the year we had been working on improving the platform and fixing a lot of bugs that it had, as it is common every year. As we didn’t have a lot of experience in LaTex and coding in general it wasn’t an easy job, but working on it was really worth it because we learnt a lot of new skills! The people in this picture are Nachopo Alonso, the actual Yearbook Manager, and the one-and-only JAVIANTON, that has helped a lot with the final stages of this Yearbook. Nacho wasn’t new in this team because he was a member last year, and he decided to take a step more, being the Manager this year. Javi’s help was key for implementing what are you reading right now and Nacho is so grateful for his involvement in this project. From LC Madrid we wish you have fun and enjoy EESTEC life! :D

JLC Aveiro
About JLC Aveiro IoT Squad From July, 16th 2017 to July, 22nd 2017 Participants’ report The most western JLC, JLC Aveiro organized their first workshop called IoT Squad. It took place between 16th and 23rd of July 2017. The main topic of the workshop was internet of things. The academic part was well organized. We had lectures with reputable professors for one hour or 2 every day. In addition to the lectures we also had practical work where one day we built an actual RF receiver, next day we connected Arduino to internet. There were some lectures provided by companies. We also had tours of some laboratories and companies. All in all the academic part would be perfect for me if everything would be connected into one big project. But even without that, the academic part was, as I have said before, very well organized. I liked the idea that you also invited some Portuguese participants to the workshop and in that way got more participants with less expenses. I believe that at the end of the workshop you also got some new members out of these participants. The city rally was good. The only problem was that Portuguese girls are quite restrained, so we guys could not accomplish many challenges :P The international dinner was well organized. There were also more JLC Aveiro members attending the party. I still love pica pau <3 (the dish provided by JLC Aveiro table) The accommodation was the best so far for me. We had one bed dorms. They were clean and there was one shower for 2 rooms. The food was provided to us 3 times a day. We ate a good breakfast in the dorm. OK lunch and dinner were in cafeteria. The walking distance between the lecture buildings, cafeteria and our dormitory was average for an EESTEC workshop. On average we walked 15 minutes. The walking distance to the main square (where we went to party) was further
14
Yearbook 2017-2018
JLC Aveiro away, but the organizers did take us with cars there sometimes, so I do not have a negative feedback there. The parties were not the best, but that was mainly the problem because there were no students in town during the summer and the JLC is currently quite small. So when we went out to party, there were only 10+ participants (plus for some Portuguese participants) and 1 to 5 JLC Aveiro members. As I am used to EESTEC parties with more people, that was a little bit weird for me. The last two days were without lectures. On Friday we drove to the beach where we had an awesome surfing lesson. We also swam in cold ocean. On Saturday we went to Porto and had a city tour there. Aveiro members were our guides and we got to know lots of interesting stuff from them about the city. In Porto we did not have lunch in cafeteria, we went to a restaurant and ate the Porto dish called Francesinha. It is quite heavy dish, so it is very good after the hangover. Dinner was in hostel and it was also good. If I sum up the whole event, then I have to say that I had lots of fun and there were not many big failures regarding the event organization. Many negative stuff will disappear when the JLC gets bigger.
Organisers’ report IoT Squad was a roller-coaster. It was, by far, the hardest and most demanding project that any of the organizers had pass through until the moment. And that was what made us grow the most. We learned the true values of working as a team and surpassing mountains, without having done anything that remotely looked like an EESTEC International Event, while still having loads of fun. Since we were a really young JLC, and still we’re going through the process of becoming an association, a lot of unexpected problems came to us, without being asked for. From fundraising, to general rules. That also opened our eyes to be expecting these, since they can’t be avoided. We’re really looking forward to apply all the things we learned in our next project. Maybe sooner than you might expect...

JLC Milano
About JLC Milano We started our Journey as a little EESTEC Observer in November 2016, with the local name MESA (Milan Engineering Student Association) and some difficulties in recruiting new members. We focused on doing meetings and creating strong bonds between everyone until, in May, we had our first official event, a (International, thanks to the amazing people of Zurich, Bucharest and Craiova) Motivational Weekend on Lake Garda, when we really first felt the EESTEC Spirit. In October 2017, thanks also to some others associations of Politecnico di Milano, we gained some new motivated members which also started travelling with EESTEC, experiencing its beautiful world. At the end of 2017 we started working on the EESTech Challenge Local round and, at the same time, on the 11th of January, we became JLC! While still working on the Challenge we organized two local workshop on Python and Java, which both had a good number of participants and very positive feedback. We try to be something different from the daily routine, a place where every student can feel at home, learn new things, work with other people and travel all

JLC Milano around Europe. We believe a lot in the symbol of the Association, a cooperation between equal members, and we try to share our ideas among all the students not only of Politecnico, but also of all the "scientific" universities of Milan. Our local motto is, in fact, "Share the Knowledge.". We hope we will grow big and make everyone here aware of what EESTEC is not only for us, but for every EESTECer around the World.

LC Aachen
About LC Aachen We are one of the elder Local Committees and one of the foundation members of EESTEC in 1986. Our members are students of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the RWTH Aachen University and of the University of Applied Sciences Aachen. EESTEC Aachen is a working group of the Electrical Engineering Student Association of the RWTH Aachen. We have a cooperation with the IEEE Student Branch Aachen especially concerning one day excursions. Regularly we organize the Aachen - St. Petersburg/Moscow Exchange in summer and we will try to keep this tradition. We organise a lot of local events like excursions to companies and research institutes to get a wider recognition among our students.
Aixtec 2: Autonomous Driving From October, 23rd 2017 to October, 28th 2017 Participants’ report Dear EESTEC-ers, For a lot of people present on AIXTEC 2, that was the first event. For me that was not the case, but I can say that it was one of the best. The city is really charming by itself: historically important, with a beautiful old town, cathedral... But what I like the most about Aachen is that ’Silicon valley’ spirit. All those institutes and start-ups we have visited during workshop (which
24
Yearbook 2017-2018
LC Aachen emerged from RWTH) were simply amazing. Lectures were so great that I was able to party sometimes until 3 or 4 AM and to pay full attention to them quite early in the morning. Workshop with the best academic part for me so far in EESTEC. The non-academic part was also great and I think that hardly can be different in one student city like Aachen is. I liked the pubs where we have going very much, but from that part, I would like to highlight drinking games people from LC Aachen thought us. All of the participants gone crazy about ’Flunkyball’. :D We didn’t care about weather, strict neighbors, police, we just kept it going. It helped a lot for participants and organizers to get along so well during the event. At the end the most important thing, the people. I have met a lot of great people at this event and made a lot of, I hope, long-term friendships. Our hosts were amazing too! Big ’THANK YOU’ to LC Aachen because without their hard work and dedication this amazing workshop wouldn’t be possible. Gut gemacht LC Aachen! Bis bald! Mit freudlichen Grußen, Nikola Nedovic
Organisers’ report Organizer Report It was a great six days with an intense academic program, which was organized very well with the few of the most powerful companies in our area. We definitely got better at organizational skills, there was no problem about transportation, picking up and bringing back at the time of arrivals and departures and also the meal times. Promotion went very well so as the Human Resources, even though sometimes things were spontaneously managed. We have found the sponsorship we

LC Aachen needed but the next time we could contact more companies just to secure the future and not to have stress with the budget especially for the IMW. For us, the Organizing Committee, to have less stress, we need to plan the schedule more detailed beside the academic program and we find it very important that, even though some are not in the OC, there should be more motivated members who are willing to participate and/or help. In total AIXTEC 2 was a successful workshop according to our goals we set before starting organizing the event. Duygu Doyran Contact Person of LC Aachen

All the organizers were always trying to make us feel comfortable, as they were appear beside of us although we didn’t ask for help. Regarding the schedule of the event, I found it very well organized and they fit the programme all the time. Concerning the food, it was great and we didn’t feel hungry at all. The schedule were covered well, we didn’t spend almost any free time. We had a chance to different unique bays in Marmaris on boat trip, water fight in safa and waterfall, sliding several slides in aqua park. There wasn’t any transportation problem. Also, the organizers took care of speaking in English all the time during the event. When it comes to the nights where we spent several clubs in Marmaris was awesome and in the hostel which we had a chance to swim in the swimming pool. All the participants and LC Ankara built strong friendship bonds. Hope we will gather again soon! Best regards, Cagla Sahinoglu LC Eskisehir
Organisers’ report LC Ankara’s last exchange occupyMarmaris High V took place between 18th and 24th of August. We spent an amazing week with our 16 great participants from 10 different LCs and a week full of EESTEC Spirit! Our participants had a chance to see amazing Marmaris bays which we see in our boat trip, fight with water guns in fantastic safari trip. After a tiring day in our safari trip, the participants relaxed with traditional Turkish bath. Days have passed with swimming in beautiful beaches, pool and sliding from the waterslide in our hostel, nights have passed with incredible parties in several night clubs in Marmaris. Apart from the parties in different night clubs, our participants had a chance to get to know each other better while playing entertaining games during our Survivor Night and enjoying the swimming pool after meeting with different cultures during the International

Home Smart Home From February, 18th 2018 to February, 24th 2018 Participants’ report To feel what I’m feeling and fully understand, you need to imagine something. Imagine a country, a strange country, of which you know nothing. You come to that country, get lost, find your way then get lost again, finally, you come to the
30
Yearbook 2017-2018
LC Ankara bus and everyone is yelling, something onbir onbir onbir. Then the traffic, you’re stuck in traffic on an unknown bus, going to God knows where, to sleep at someone’s house. Crazy, right? Now you finally get out of the bus and see two people who don’t know whether they would hug you or introduce and the guy says "Do you have only one clothes?" I mean where the fuck did I come??? Then you drive in a car, awkward silence, small talk. You go to a cafe and some other strange looking people join you. After 2 hours at the cafe, you go to the toilet and forget to take your phone from the table, that’s how comfortable you feel. Day after day, new people are coming, their accent is so strange, sometimes they speak something in a strange sh sh sh sh language, but you can’t know what’s happening. Maybe they’ll kidnap you, sell your kidneys, anything can happen. But you feel so comfortable with them, when the people are looking at you, their eyes are shining, you feel like you are the only person in the world for that moment. And you do things every day, firstly it’s just a party, then its an international night, then it’s bowling, then you have a skinny girl wearing almost nothing dancing around and suddenly, you have to go. For 8 days, you have been filled with emotions, you have met so many people, and the night before the departure, even though you are very drunk, you’re crying because you don’t want to leave this beautiful, not so strange anymore, friendly country. That’s what you need to imagine to try and understand how I’m feeling after the event. Now I’m home, in Ljubljana, and everything is back to normal, but somehow I know a lot of things about Arduino, and programming and feelings. The most important thing about everything, I have been reborn, in a strange way, a way I’ve never deemed possible. Nothing is the same anymore. All in all, life is much more better, much more livable because of the mere fact that somewhere in this world, there are communities just like the one I’ve just visited, with a lot of fun, amazing, strange people who will accept anyone, and give them another home, outside of their own country, who will give them a place to which they most definitely need to go back, and want to come back... LC Ankara As LC Ankara, our latest workshop Home Smart Home took place between 18th and 24th of February. First of all, before event start, some lovely participants canceled their participation because of domestic problems but nothing reduced our motivations. For this reason, we spent an amazing week with our 10 great participants from 8 different LCs and a week full of EESTEC Spirit, lectures and workshops about Smart Home Technologies. We hope we will meet them who canceled their participation somewhere in Europe. Our participants were all amazing people, and now we have the huge and amazing family which spreads to Europe. During the event, our participants had a chance to enjoy Ankara, visit Ataturk’s mausoleum and historical places such as Ankara Castle and Hamamonu. After the tiring days in the workshop, they also had a chance to relax in the Turkish bath. If we want to talk about fun part of the event, apart from the parties in different nightclubs, our participants had a chance to get to know each other better while playing entertaining games before going parties and enjoying the different cultures during the International Night! They had also unforgettable memories while drinking Raki and dancing with belly dancer during the amazing Turkish Night and play Beer Pong and Bowling where they feel the competition.

About LC Antwerp In 2016, we organized our third international event called ’AntwerPi 2.0’, which was a huge success. Our (unplanned) motivational weekend attracted a lot of attention from surrounding LCs! We’re continuing our other activities such as lunch lectures and a system for student jobs in IT companies. We’re continuing to grow, and this year our board was almost completely renewed. We’re also in the process of spreading to another institution (KdG) and upgrading our website to provide better info on what we offer to our members.

LC Athens
About LC Athens LC Athens was founded in 2004 by a handful of students in the National Technical University of Athens. Athens became officially an EESTEC Local Committee in Congress 2005 in Madrid. During these eleven years, more than 900 members have joined our local committee, and the number is still increasing. At this point, we have around 100 active members, willing to help our LC make a step further. Having organized nine successful international workshops, with more than 460 participants from all over Europe, LC Athens deserves the title of "must go" EESTEC LC. We are, also, very active in our faculty, organizing many interesting local activities, not only for our members, but also for the rest of the students. In this way, a lot of students gain interest in EESTEC, and we keep on spreading around the "EESTEC Spirit"!

LC Banja Luka
About LC Banja Luka The local committee of Banja Luka has been accepted for a full membership on EESTEC congress in Belgrade, in April 2004. In June 2004 Local committee was registered in Banja Luka court as a non-profit, student’s organization with headquarters at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Patre 5, Banja Luka. Year in year out we organized many activities with the goal of popularizing student volunteering and gathering more members. By participating in the Local committee, EE students are gathering organizational skills, valuable in the later professional career. Through 14 years of work we helped 120 students of Electrical engineering in Banja Luka to participate in some of the EESTEC events and hosted more than 100 students from all over Europe! In April 2012, the Local committee organized our first Soft Skills Academy for 30 students of Banja Luka University. Students were able to work on the development of their personal and professional skills necessary for pursuing a successful career in their respective field. After getting great feedback on our first Soft Skills Academy, we continued this tradition and in 2018. we will be hosting the sixth annual Soft Skills Academy, now a trademark of our Committee. The event we are most proud of is the 9th EESTEC Chairpersons’ Meeting, organized in 2014. The Advanced Skills Workshop we organized in April 2018, The App Times, strengthened our connections with other Committees and motivated us to work even harder on reaching our goal - improving the informal education of the students of our Faculty and connecting them with EESTECers all over Europe!

LC Belgrade
About LC Belgrade LC Belgrade became an official Member of EESTEC at the Congress in London in 2000, and nowadays is one of the largest and the best organized Local Committees in Europe. Throughout 18 years of our existence, over 1000 students of the School of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade have participated in numerous workshops, exchanges and professional seminars in cities across Europe. Since the establishment of our LC, we have organized over 100 local and international projects that have been encouraging personal and professional development of EECS students. With more than 200 members and more than 5 annual projects, we strive to create opportunities for the future development of our students and our Association. How do we do it? We organize numerous local projects for the students of our University, such as "JobFair - Kreiraj svoju buducnost" that has been annually organized for the last 13 years, with the aim to prepare young people for their future career by providing various opportunities such as internships, employment and the direct contact with over 50 companies. Another significant project of ours is "Brand New Engineers - Od integrala do inzenjera", that strives to provide the academical knowledge and insights in popular Engineering topics, with the help of our Faculty’s professors. We are especially proud of our project "Soft Skills Academy" which has been organized every year since 2010 and was later taken as an International project of EESTEC. When it comes to international events, we have recently organized the anniversary 30th Congress in 2016, which was followed by the 1st Autumn Congress

LC Belgrade in the same year. In May 2017, we organized the third edition of exchange "Belgrade State of Mind". Since 2016, we have taken part in organizing the regional project PLC+ SIM(P)ATIC Challenge, together with LC Zagreb and LC Ljubljana. Everything we do is with belief in outstanding individuals and with the aim to motivate students to work on their self-improvement and discovering, thus contributing to the University community in our country. We are proud to be a part of this Association that provides young people with a new perspective in life, technology, engineering, communications, travel, new experiences, new friends and successful projects. What we get through volunteering in our Local Committee are professional skills, discovering ourselves and others through local and international projects, and as the greatest gift of all, the inevitable happiness of having a great number of outstanding individuals as friends in the whole Europe.
Belgrade State of Mind Vol. 3 From May, 3rd 2017 to May, 10th 2017 Participants’ report Belgrade State of Mind vol. 3 was the third exchange organized by LC Belgrade and took place from 3rd to 10th May 2017. Sixteen participants came from European countries but especially from Balkan region. The first day (Arrivals-day) we checked-in in the hostel and we got the chance to get to know each other. Everybody seemed excited about the days to follow. Later during the day, we had lunch and then we returned to the hostel for the welcome party which involved drinking games, an excellent way to get to know someone in my opinion. The next day we woke up, had breakfast in the hostel and then we went to the faculty for the opening ceremony. The LC Belgrade chairwoman made a short speech about the event and EESTEC spirit in general. Then a speech from the Dean of the faculty followed and the OC gave each participant a welcome-gift which included tourist guides for Serbia among other stuff. After that, we visited the enormous temple of St. Sava. We had a tour of a guide and we also got the chance to get a view of the city from the top of the temple. Next, we had our city

LC Belgrade rally! We split into teams and we tried to accomplish the challenges presented to us. It was a great way to get a glimpse of the city centre and also a great team building activity. The overall mood was sky high and everybody seemed to be having fun. The third day started with some action as we played bowling. Afterwards, we got a chance to go sightseeing and then we went to the Tesla museum. There we had the chance to watch a short movie about his life and we also took part in some exciting experiments, and later continued to the party in a fancy club. The fourth day started with the body language training. The local trainers made the training exciting and interesting as we learned many things throughout the process. Afterwards, we had some free time before our dinner. And then followed the greatest party of all time! The TRAM PARTY. It was literally the greatest party I have ever been to and an absolutely unique experience to remember for years to come. Everybody seemed thrilled and excited about the party. Mission accomplished, OC! The next day our planned trip to Avala was unfortunately cancelled due to bad weather. However, we went to play some board games, and that night was the international night. Everybody prepared their traditional plates and drinks. The international night took place at the KST, the faculty’s underground club. Everybody was up to it and we had the chance to taste food and drinks from different countries and cultures. Then, of course, we partied hard and had a great time with each other. Next morning, we prepared for the barbecue day. There we had some activities. Some played basketball, other went rock climbing. On our way home we got the chance to do the Haka dance on the street. At night we went to karaoke. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the chance to sing a lot of English songs, and as a result, we left and spent the rest of the night at a park with beer and an acoustic guitar! The last day was the most emotional one. We visited the royal palace at noon and had a chance to hear some Serbian history. After that, the OC had a surprise for us. They took us to some escape rooms. It was a great mind training game which everybody enjoyed. Afterwards, we had a chance to taste a traditional Serbian plate - cevapi, which I personally enjoyed very much. And then followed the most heartbreaking part of the event, the farewell party. The OC made a speech as well as all the participants and they gave each of us a medal for our

LC Belgrade participation. Everybody seemed so drunk in the end, yet emotional. To sum up, the BSoM was an unforgettable experience for me (I hope for others too) in which I met new interesting people, got in touch with other cultures and of course made some great new friendships. These seven days will forever remain engraved in my memory as a wonderful week in the capital of Serbia, Belgrade. Michalis Fotiadis, Xanthi 25/5/17
Organisers’ report From the 3rd to 10th of May 2017, LC Belgrade hosted the 16 amazing participants during our exchange "Belgrade State of Mind vol.3". Throughout this time, our participants had the opportunity to meet the cultural and historical part of Belgrade, but also to feel its way of living. We visited the Royal Palace, took part in experiments at Nikola Tesla Museum, and had the chance to see the whole city from the top of beautiful St Sava Temple. Exploring Belgrade through the city rally and completing a range of creative challenges was a unique experience for everyone as it kept the participants motivated and improved their relationship with each other. We also enjoyed a variety of activities such as barbecue, bowling and board games. In order to learn more about each other and EESTEC, our local trainers delivered the "Body language" training session, which was full of exercises and energisers, so it was interesting and useful at the same time. As about the nightlife that Belgrade is so famous for, we organised the irreplaceable Tram party which was the best party, because during and after it everyone became more connected and more open to each other. Besides this, we

LC Belgrade organised the Opening party in a pub which was followed by the drinking games, and of course the International night where the traditional cuisine and drinks of every LC were presented. Furthermore, we had fun during the Karaoke night and the party at the club, while our Farewell party was special in a way - we had a closing ceremony where we gave medals to every participant and emotional speeches in which we reflected on every single detail from those seven days that will always stay in our memory. We are truly thankful for the opportunity to be the OC for this event and to present our beautiful city, but also our LC in the most interesting way. But what matters the most, we are proud and happy that we had an amazing time with our participants and made friendships that will surely last a lifetime.

Once upon a time in Belgrade From December, 15th 2017 to December, 17th 2017 Participants’ report Once upon a time in Belgrade, a few EESTECers found their ways into the white city to create lifelong memories of an unforgettable week. The magical journey did last only for two days but it felt like it lasted for decades because time seemed to be frozen when you are around great participants and even better organizers. The International Night is a legendary term on its own that has high expectations, and Belgrade did live up and even exceed ours. The fact that most of the participants went to sleep at 5 AM is a fact that speaks for its own. The following day was filled with great content. A city rally where you learn the white city by heart and during so meet new friends, sprinkle magic dust and FR some brooms. But so much high energy activities require breaks? That’s why the hookah night fit there perfectly, to get some energy before going into one of the best EESTEC parties this year. The last party of the night felt nothing less but magical and beyond this world. I was amazed by how much effort went into planning that party. From all the crazy and awesome decorations to the magic potions that were served on the party, just wow. And so, Sunday morning came around. With a stomach full of delicious Serbian food and a heart full of new memories from the days before, we went on our last journey together which was ice skating. Leaving Belgrade and their members after an event is never easy, even though it was my 4th event in Belgrade. What else can I say, to put in words is not easy to say how amazing this event was. So I will just leave it with this. "Count your age by friends, not years. Count your life by smiles, not tears." John Lennon Armin Avdic, LC Sarajevo

LC Belgrade Once upon a time, when the magic started losing its power, the call for all fairies, elves and knights of EESTEC was sent. Finding the right ones was a difficult task and lasted for decades, but after a tough search, the most tenacious ones were invited to join the weekend of fun and adventure, where the fairytales were brought back to life! With the dazzling atmosphere created by the 36 princes and princesses from 11 different Kingdoms, the event was a truly magical experience for everyone, including the organisers. Our story started in the local pub where we were tasting various types of beer and playing pool and darts. After breaking the ice, we started preparing for the international night during which we got the opportunity to try magical potions from different Kingdoms. The party went amazing as it was many hours of fun. Saturday was unique for so many reasons. Participants have already bonded with each other and were ready for new adventures. Starting with a city rally, we were solving riddles and completing creative tasks including eating poisonous apples, waking up from a dream and being covered with magical glitter. While having fun with the Belgradians, we explored the city, including the Kalemegdan fortress and old streets full of Christmas spirit. After a long walk throughout the White city, we visited a hookah bar where we had a chance to relax and enjoy the smoke of hookah. Then the most stunning party came to its part. Starting from incredible decorations with fairytale elements, to smoky potions, it definitely made everyone feel the real magic. Despite how it usually happens in fairytales, the magic didn’t end at midnight and we welcomed the sunrise with the warm guitar’s sounds. The next morning, after waking up from a dream, we went for ice skating on the Tasmajdan Stadium and created a completely new and fresh atmosphere in a cold Belgrade morning. It went even better and more energetic as we expected, and later, as the last activity, we visited the Nikola Tesla Museum and learned about life and work of this amazing Serbian scientist.

About LC Bucharest
We have been part of EESTEC family for several years, precisely since the Congress in Cosenza, which was organized between the 9th and the 16th of April 2003. EESTEC LC Bucharest activates in Politehnica University of Bucharest, thus placing itself in the ideal environment for accomplishing its academic goals. Our mission is to help students build a better future. In order for us to do that, we organize local workshops and conferences, as well as international workshops and exchanges. The events are based on personal and professional development. Our workshops are centered on specific subjects: electrical engineering, information technology, renewable energies, computer programming and embedded technologies. Also, we organize motivational weekends for our guests, where we just have a good time and get to know each other better. We hosted 2 exchanges so far: ROSummer Spirit (in the summer of 2009) and EUROtrip (in the summer of 2015). Our latest international workshop was organised in May 2016 and it was called Embedded Minds. LC Bucharest is very active locally, ranging from contests and soft skills trainings to conferences and charitable parties. The most popular are: EESTEC Olympics(8 editions), Soft Skills Academy(4 editions) and T4T(9 editions). Last but not least, each year we organize ICE (Inner Circle of EESTEC), which is a 3 days training, designed for new members. Stay tuned for the "What?", "When?" and "Where?" of our future events ;)

9th T4T From March, 8th 2017 to March, 17th 2017 Participants’ report 9th T4T took part in Bucharest. Magic happened in that city this March. Sixteen motivated participants spent 11 days together, learning and working hard on their weaknesses, challenges and finally the very first serious session. We came here to work on ourselves, learn how to share our knowledge while delivering training. We worked with our co-trainers on changing theory, gathered during the event, into practice to become effective and competent members of the Training Team. Thanks to amazing trainers, who have spent weeks on preparations, those days were full of knowledge and invaluable shared experience. But that is just more formal part. We, as participants, value the most all the support, help and advices, the feeling that we were there for a reason and people believe in us. It gave us huge power to work and develop. All the people there created us, LC Bucharest members, present always with us, willing to help in every need. And amazing OC, who gave so much effort and became our friends. They organized for us time after every hard day to relax, spend it together, rest or have fun. While sightseeing, time to enjoy the beauty of capital of Romania, meeting open and funny people. The great atmosphere were with us through the whole event. We were sometimes stressed and disappointed but finally satisfied, proud and all the time together. We learned a lot, but we gained even more - friendships and memories. We were the lucky 16 who made their dreams come true and just started our journey. Those few days did not make anyone a trainer, but helped us to find that trainer inside and develop the best things which we can use on our trainer’s way. Patrycja Rak
Organisers’ report T4T... When I joined for this event I had no idea what it meant, only that it involved some random strangers from different parts of Europe coming here for some trainings. I wanted to be a part of it because it seemed like a nice chance to

LC Bucharest meet people, explore their culture, but also because I just wanted to organize something. What I did not expect was that those people would find a way to crawl into my heart during those 2 weeks and then depart leaving empty holes. THEY WERE AWESOME. About actually organizing it: it was indeed challenging, lots of unforeseen circumstances, some improvising... apparently like any other event. The key for making it was, for me, thinking of what I am there for: the participants. It is their event; we must deliver what we were supposed to. I was in charge of taking care of them most of the time, and also acting kind of like a CP. People told me it will be tiring, and sometimes it was, but once I met these amazing people it did not matter anymore. I wanted to be a part of them. After spending most of my time during the event in their presence I can say that it was truly unforgettable. Watching them learn, grow and then finally deliver their first training was, as Csabi said, magical. Their presence was, at least to me, if not for the whole LC, inspiring. It’s these people that showed me how amazing EESTEC can be. Because of them I now want to travel, to discover new places and new people, to learn and perhaps, one day, also become a trainer. :D
P4T - Party for Trainers From March, 17th 2017 to March, 19th 2017 Participants’ report What I can tell, is that I was very lucky to apply for the Party for Trainers (P4T) IMW. Arriving

at Bucharest a few days before the IMW, I felt instantly like home even if the event hadn’t started yet. Organizers were always there for everyone and absolutely made sure that everyone was having an awesome time and was taken care appropriately. I was already sure that IMW would be extraordinary with that OC. And I was right! They made sure that everyone had the opportunity to visit the places nearby. In just 1 day, we managed to visit both Dracula castle (yes, I know, WOW) and Brasov, the Hollywood of Romania. Both places were absolutely worth seeing. The awesome thing about the place we were staying at, is that our party place was inside the same building. The even more awesome thing was the party mood of the Romanian people. It’s the very first event in my EESTEC life that I

LC Budapest
About LC Budapest MAVE (Electrical Engineering Students’ Hungarian Association) EESTEC LC Budapest was founded in 1986 with the aim of broadening the knowledge and horizons of engineering students. Our association has been a founding member of EESTEC. At the beginning our non-profit student organization arranged shortterm exchange programmes for foreign students in Hungary. Since then our profile has changed fundamentally, it is difficult to list all of our activities and events. Our principles are unchanged though: LC Budapest is determined to offer unique experience to young people, no matter if it is a summer rowing trip, a 24 hours programming competition or an international conference. But all mentioned above would not worth anything if the organization didn’t remain a community of friends. Being a member of LC Budapest comes not only with opportunities but also with delight.
The Big Data Theory From October, 1st 2017 to October, 8th 2017 Participants’ report It often comes to my mind that I made a good decision applying for The Big Data Theory. I was amazed how close we, participants and organizers, have got in such a short span of time. Being my first EESTEC international event, I didn’t know what
58
Yearbook 2017-2018
LC Budapest to expect. Different countries, different cultures were all united by our desire to know other people, have fun and learn something new. We learned new technical skills as well. During the lectures, we got a general idea of what Big Data is, how it is used and how it affects our everyday lives. In the c s, project task, we were required to gather data about restaurants, banks, cafĂƒ and so on in several districts of Budapest. After getting the data, we had to parse them into a database, and use a machine learning regression model in order to predict the value of properties in those specific districts. The city was very lively and had a lot of points of interests, like the Buda Castle, the Liberty Square, the St. Stephen Basilica and the Parliament by night. I really enjoyed the folk night and the international night. During the folk night we learned how to dance specific Hungarian dances. [George Tudor from LC Bucharest]
Organisers’ report The main academic goal was to introduce Big Data and Python coding to participants and get hands-on experience with real life databases for an ongoing project of the main sponsor. (OTP Bank) Participants attended lectures and practice sessions during the week. Teams of two EESTECers and one Hungarian student were formed and they competed during a hackathon with their solutions for prizes. The solutions were good, some came up with unique ideas. All in all, some teams got closer with some Hungarian participants attending International Night. The week was wearisome and full of activities. We organised social programs almost every day. Participants attended folk-dance night and a concert on a boat as well. We departed for City Rally from the office of a sponsor where we had

LC Budapest lunch. The Rally was full of fun and ended in the castle where we took group pictures and danced Haka. Participants and organizers had a really great time together, and bonded really quickly. Most of the organizers got sick for the last half of the week, because of some virus and general tiredness, but they were fighting like champions! Despite the complications we consider this workshop as a successful one and already looking forward to new adventures.

RE:PRINT3D From May, 14th 2017 to May, 21st 2017 Participants’ report Comment : This workshop event is going to be remembered for the superb academical part and also for great leisure time, good food and accommodation. We would like to emphasize importance of other aspects of events as well, and that’s why our overall suggestion is to take more care about language and general issues for the next event. Food The general suggestion of having meals equally divided throughout the day

Language Even though both the participants and organizers are obligated to speak English during the academic and non-academic parts of the event , this did not always happen as stated by 2/8 participants. This rule was broken by both participants and organizers. Accommodation All of the participants stated that the room were separate for boys and girls. Also, all of them were provided with clean sheets and blankets. the number of bathrooms was sufficient for most of the participants. Among the comments, we found that one of the participants said that he need a little more free time to rest. A lot of participant would recommend the next event organized by this LC to their friends. One of the participants said that: "Walked a bit much, but there was not any other option for that way". Leisure All of the participants stated that there was a variety of party types, the prices in the clubs were affordable, there was enough space and did not have to split, also they were either accompanied or given direction to get back to the accommodation. Mainly, the music was ok. Moreover, the OC provided drinks and socialized with the participants. Academics The academics part of the event was much appreciated by all the participants and was in accordance with the proposed rules by the Policy Paper.

LC Craiova
About LC Craiova LC Craiova is a member of the EESTEC family since 2006 and has organized numerous workshops and has involved itself heavily in the local student life. In the spring of 2013 EESTEC LC Craiova hosted a web programming workshop based on well-known easy-to-use Python from 24th to 30th of March 2013. Its aim was to teach the 13 participants gathered in our city from no more and no less than five countries the most simple and yet powerful scripting and programming language out there in order to create a working cloud application. The participants were greeted in a pure traditional Romanian style we all met and became friends, thus predicting the good collaboration days that were to come as well as the best parties we attended in a while. Besides the learning part, Pythonia also meant parties in the city’s clubs and pubs, preceded by billiards and bowling, a viewing of a selection of best all time commercials, a beer drinking contest where the winner was awarded with, what else, a python toy and a trip to an old well-known nearby wine cellar where we all had the occasion to see the wine manufacturing process and got to taste the wine obtained. Pythonia meant the opportunity to learn Python and to meet new people and their culture. At the end a working Twitter-like application has come to life and new friendships were born. The big EESTEC family has added to the record a new fruitful experience which the members that participated in and made it possible will surely never forget and hope to live again soon. A lot of time has passed since our last event(Pythonia), but now we are prepared with new forces and new ideeas, and we are going to host a new event soon. During the past 2 years we organised a lot of local events one more sucsesful than the other. One of the great events that we would like to mention is "How to: Electronics", an event that helped a lot of students improve their electronical skills and learn how to use Protheus.

About LC Delft EESTEC in Delft is rather complicated: The ETV is an umbrella organisation of EESTEC LC Delft. The ETV is the study association in Delft for Electrical Engineering students. The student life in Delft has a lot of opportunities to relax and develop yourself, EESTEC is only one of them, so it is not that big in Delft. LC East Sarajevo
About LC East Sarajevo Our local committee, LC East Sarajevo, based at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in East Sarajevo, became a part of EESTEC in 2004. at the Congress in Belgrade, after the elementary conditions for establishment were granted. The committee had 15 members. That’s when we earned a status of Observer. A year after that, after we organized the first international event «Jahorina Winter Exchange 2005», we were promoted to Local Committee. That was in Madrid, 2005. In following years we organised several events and welcomed our participants at the Olympic beauty of Jahorina. We used to traditionally organize our event in March. The name of our project was Jahorina Spring Break. During the workshop, we hosted on average about 20 participants. The main event of the workshop is the scientific conference "InfoTech", which at the time maintained on our Olympic Mountain Jahorina. Last year we took a break from international activities and we were focused more on local activities and recruiting new members. After JSB 2015 and our 10th birthday we decided to break tradition and to organize our brand new exchange called "Mountain Mania 2017". The concept is similar to JSB but with more free time and fun. The exchange took place from 27th March to 2nd April. Our biggest success so far is an organization of 10th EESTEC Chairpersons’ Meeting in November 2015. Despite the fact that we are small LC we succeeded to organize and prepare the event in less than 3 months. We are active locally also. Already two years in a row we organized Soft Skills Academy for all students of University in East Sarajevo as a second most important event. Also, great attention is given to humanitarian actions, and we regularly maintain them. Our traditional event is Humanitarian blood donation, which we orga-

Mountain-Mania From March, 27th 2017 to April, 2nd 2017 Participants’ report "The exchange in East Sarajevo was the exchange where I had a chance to finally visit that amazing LC! We had an amazing time, I met so many new people, and really enjoyed my stay there. Even though I felt like home, I was really honored to spend the time in East Sarajevo and try the real burek! P. S. Also became friends with a bear, that was a really new experience for me in EESTEC :D " Marija Zivkovic, LC Nis
Organisers’ report From March 27 to April 02, Electrical Engineering Students’ European Association, Local Committee of East Sarajevo (abbreviated EESTEC) organized a students’ exchange "Mountain mania 2017". Electrical engineering students from all over Europe came from Istanbul, Krakow, Zagreb, Aachen and other European cities in East Sarajevo. Students had the opportunity to visit laboratories of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in East Sarajevo, as well as to get acquainted with the facilities offered by this faculty. A creative workshop was held under the auspices of Red Bull at our faculty, where local and foreign students had the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity in the

LC East Sarajevo doodle art competition. Also, the students met the city of East Sarajevo, our customs, a beautiful mountain Jahorina, which is also significant for the tourism and promotion of Republika Srpska. "Students from all over Europe were fascinated by the equipment and laboratories in our faculty, although at first glance the building looks old and dysfunctional. They liked the stay in East Sarajevo, our hospitality and our tradition and culture. I believe they have a very nice picture of East Sarajevo and the Republic of Srpska in Europe", said Nemanja Djokic, the president of the" EESTEC Local Committee East Sarajevo "

LC Eskisehir
About LC Eskisehir EESTEC LC Eskisehir, which was founded in 2006, was the 3rd local committee in Turkey. It’s members are mostly from Anadolu University Faculty of Engineering, but also it has members from the different faculties of Anadolu University and Eskisehir Osmangazi University. Most notable events of LC Eskisehir are Photosynthesis I & II, 6th ECM and Rhythm of EESTEC and What Does The Python Say?
What does the Python say? From February, 4th 2018 to February, 11th 2018 Participants’ report Participants from Albania, Austria, Finland, France, Poland, Spain, Switzerland and Turkey tried to answer this question during an amazing week in EskiÅŸehir. For the whole week, students learnt how to use Python, starting with basics and ending with a script catching image from their laptop camera, which played the music after discovering face and stopped it after discovering the palm. In the afternoons the group discovered sights: from Phrygian Valley dated back to 1000 B.C. to modern Sazova Park with Disney-like castle, a wide variety of Turkish food and drinks, and the city of Eskisehir. EESTEC spirit could be felt for the whole time, everywhere. So what is the answer? Python has a lot to say. But Turkey has much more... -Marcin from LC Krakow

Organisers’ report What Does The Python say was amazing experience for us. We had many member who has not been in an EESTEC Event so it was also important for them to experience EESTEC spirit. We accepted 12 beautiful participants from all over Europe and spend a wonderful week with them. As organizers, we really wanted them to feel EESTEC Spirit, programming and Turkish culture at the same time. Programming lectures was quite good, participants were very interested in.And they have developed awesome project with face recognition algorithms. Beyond the lectures, they partied every night. We took them to smoke sisha, eat real Turkish kebap, Turkish bath(hamam) and best night clubs. As an observation, all of them were happy and satisfied at the end of the week. Some of our friends even cried at the end of the week, we developed strong life-long friendships. -Ilgaz from LC EskiÅŸehir, Chairman and Head Organizer

About LC Gdansk GdaÅ„sk is located in northern Poland - often called the capital of Polish coast. LC GdaÅ„sk is quite small, but we care more about quality than quantity: every single one of us is full of EESTEC spirit. One of the indication of our involvement is our first workshop, Check This Out, which we’ve organized in October 2015. We are surely not ending our EESTEC adventure any soon and you can expect more awesome events in the future! And remember - even though Baltic Sea is quite cold, it didn’t freeze our bones - you can always count on our hospitality and friendship :)

LC Gliwice
About LC Gliwice LC Gliwice has been founded in 2013, but even though we’re very young and still learning and settling the EESTEC name on the local level, some of our individuals have become well-known across EESTEC Local Committees thanks to their unique personality, strong motivation and one of its kind sense of humor. Being small doesn’t mean being weak, Unity, Consistency, Trust and Friendship, those attributes combined with optimistic attitude and dream of constantly hungry young hearts combine into who we really are, a family. Because in order to succeed, you must always stay hungry, this is what we believe in, and this is what we do. In our short career we’ve organized 3 workshops: - flight simulator workshop called "Simple As That", - two programming workshops "The Meaning of Python" and "Polish Up Your Java". All of our workshops were organized both for EESTEC participants and local students, who applied for the workshops. Apart from workshops, we also organized two local rounds of EESTech Challenge project, for two consecutive years since the project’s launch. Its participants were able to attend lectures, be a part of a hackathon, and in the meantime - get to know EESTEC. We will continue the hard work of our "ancestors" and use it to grow on the local level (i.e. cooperation with different student’s organizations, EESTech Challenge project, Soft Skill Academy and so on). Stay Positive & Hungry!

I Must be Wasted From April, 14th 2017 to April, 16th 2017 Participants’ report Istanbul. The majestic city. The city in which you’re never bored. So much places to see, to eat, to party, to relax. The city of two continents and seven hills. It was not my first time in this charming city that’s for sure. As soon as I landed I knew it would be unforgettable. The busy traffic and angry drivers were everywhere and it somehow amazes me and I love it, even though it’s weird. I’m a fan of big cities. Why? I don’t know. The event for me started with a party, I arrived on Taksim and left my luggage at the reception at East West Hostel and head towards the party somewhere on Istiklal Avenue. It was 2 am and although I was very tired and my day started from 7am by going to work then catching a flight to Istanbul I was partying and was not tired. I received a great reception from the organizers and from the people I knew from my previous time. We had lectures about Artificial Intelligence at the Istanbul Technical University and I can say they were not bad, although AI is a very heavy subject and requires a lot of work and commitment. But we learned something... that we need a lot of work if we want to be in this field. The lecturers very ready for the subject and they were speaking English very good. The biggest impression I got from professor Sanem Sarel.

LC Istanbul We had various types of meals served at the university’s cantina, so I can say we ate the same food with the 35,789 students who are studying there. If they die from the food, I will too. We had different types of parties and they were amazing, especially the Rubik party. We had a lot of fun, we were very drunk and I met and made a lot of friends. Some of them are even from Greece. We were participating and witnessing the crazy city rally around Sultanahmet area where we were doing crazy challenges, taking crazy photos and selfies, recording insane videos and ask for unusual things from the tourists and locals. The Turkish night is inevitable part of the Turkish hospitality. The traditional Turkish music, the belly dancer, the mezes and the famous meyhanes. Ah, the Balkans. We also heard some rumours about a crazy nights and after parties just after the International night, but let’s say they are just gossips or memories to forget, or not to forget? All in all, LC Istanbul organized a fantastic event with a lot of different activities. We had EESTEC trainings, hangouts and many other activities typical for the Turkish culture like nargile, boat trip around the Bosphorus, sightseeing, shopping in the Grand Bazaar, seeing the Basilica Cistern, Blue Mosque and chilling and playing EESTEC games near the sea on the Asian side of the city in a very calm area... In the end like all great stories I must end this with a quote which says lcistanbulrocks Till next time LC Istanbul, Yours faithfully, Suleyman Eroglu (Damjan Miloshevski)

Mixed Reality: Extended Vision From December, 9th 2017 to December, 16th 2017 Participants’ report For me it was the first EESTEC event and it was great. Transportation: This was the hardest thing for organizing commi=ee I suppose, and they have done great job taking us around Istanbul and nobody got lost. Specially I have to thank people which was leading us from the airport. Lectures: I think that this part was not so good, but I heard that they have some problems with mentors, so I understand them. For me the best part was EESTEC training the last day. Par8es: The best part of the event. Par8es were really in high level, people from LC were always nice, clubs were good. Maybe it was too much Turkish music some8mes, but it didn’t bother me much. Food: Turkish cuisine is delicious, and I had a chance to try lot of different food so I’m happy for that. We also get enough of it during the day. Hospitality: As I said people were always nice to me, and I met really a lot of them. Nejc Kastelan / LC Ljubljana
Organisers’ report We believe that Mixed Reality: Extended Vision was a successful event. There was a good FR work before the event so that we afforded all of our participants’ needs and also a lot of extra activities. We tried to keep EESTEC culture alive whole week with our specific dances (haka, hir aj kam hir aj go etc.), EESTEC trainings, EESTEC words. We cared about our participants too much. We behaved them so nice, and tried to make them have a great week with us. They

LC Istanbul had a good chance to know Turkish culture, and famous historical places deeply. During our event, they saw magnificent views of Bosphorus with a boat trip, great history with our never ending sightseeings(Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque etc.). They had great friendships in here. There was a really nice connection between our members and participants. It created a beautiful impact to our event and we spent our days in a great atmosphere all week. If we say something negative, we can say that sometimes we couldn’t run the schedule exactly because of some last-minute problems. However we have already designed that schedule as a flexible schedule for being ready for these kind of problems that’s why we recovered the schedule problems quickly during the day. There was also another negative situation about one day’s lecture. We have already explained it in the related field but we want to tell more about the situation. Two weeks before the event, a VR laboratory of our university is shut down due to sponsorship problems. We had an agreement with that laboratory two months before the event. Our plan B and C were ready but those lecturers said "I cannot prepare a lecture in just 2 week." However we found two lecturers, one for Augmented Reality part one for Virtual Reality part and tried to arrange everything by starting from the scratch. And second day of Virtual Reality lecture we faced a problem which is already explained under "Did everything go according to your plan (schedule)?" question. However we recovered this bad situation with trainings and extra hours to Augmented Reality part. After the event our participants never came to us with something negative. We had a great week together and created a strong relationship with our participants. We hope this event will be highly effective for their future EESTEC career and we believe that this event will created the EESTECer spirit inside our participants and also our new members.

LC Karlsruhe
About LC Karlsruhe EESTEC LC Karlsruhe consists of a group of highly motivated students always ready to make something special in Karlsruhe. As of April 2018, we number 199 members. We have already done our first international workshop "Electrify: Mobility of Tomorrow" with our IMW "International Motivation of Tomorrow". It was a huge success and made us even more motivated. In the past year, we did organize many projects with companies like Rohde &Schwarz, Porsche, and Invensity. Remember last year we told you that we are working on our first "Skill Academy - more than engineering"? Well, yes we did it and it was a success. It made us more popular and helped to recruit new members. in November 2018, we held for the first time the EESTEC regional exchange for cooperation. for five days, the participants worked six hours a day to enhance the transfer of knowledge and the facilitation between local and international level. of course, we managed to go out and party every night like real EESTECers and we believe that the participants have had a great time in Karlsruhe. At the moment we are organizing the second edition of "Skill Academy - more than engineering" and at the same time our next international Workshop which will be in June 2018, so stay tuned. The city of Karlsruhe is the second-largest city in the state of Baden-Wurttemberg, in southwest Germany, near the Franco-German border. The city is one of the warmest and sunniest in Germany. It was planned with the palace tower (Schloss) at the center and 32 streets radiating out from it like the spokes of a wheel, or the ribs of a folding fan, so that one nickname for Karlsruhe in German is the "fan city" (Facherstadt).

LC Karlsruhe Our group is seated at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). KIT is one of the largest and most prestigious research and education institutions in Germany known for the high quality of research work around the world. In the 2011 performance ranking of scientific papers, Karlsruhe ranked first in Germany and among the top ten universities in Europe in engineering and natural sciences. Karl Benz studied mechanical engineering at this University and it was here that Heinrich Hertz proved the existence of electromagnetic waves in the late 1880s.

LC Krakow
About LC Krakow LC Krakow, the first Local Committee of EESTEC in Poland, is a students’ organization at AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow. We are working mostly with Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering and Faculty of Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunications. LC Krakow is dated back to 1998, so this year we are celebrating 20th birthday! At the beginning, we were part of the Science Club of Electronics, but in 2007 we separated and became independent students’ organization, registered in 2009. EESTEC is making us have more motivation, more will to get up every day (sometimes early in the morning) and do more than the day before. Our EESTECers get motivation through different trainings, part of them during local sessions, events abroad or our Motivational Weekends. There we have an opportunity to get to know each other better and find ourselves to act in EESTEC with more engagement and power. We make a very cheerful team, composed of many people willing to contribute and work really hard towards our projects success. Our committee is organizing both international and local events. Last year on local level we had our 4th editions of Academic Projects Fair and 8th Soft Skills Academy. SSA in Krakow is a week of trainings devoted to perfect communication and interpersonal skills which are widely desired both in and outside the workplace. Academic Projects Fair is where students, companies and university professors can exchange ideas and offers, which will help students in developing their academic ideas and projects. March ended with first in the history EESTech Challenge local round in Krakow where 3 of Krakow students went to Zurich to fight in the topic of Machine Learning! We also had our very first 24h hackathon that combines electronics and programming skills: Hacknarök. We ended the year with annual Motivation Weekend for which almost 100 people left Krakow

LC Krakow to have great time and gain some soft skills from team of trainers both local and international. This year we have even more events planned! In March we will have the second edition of Hacknarök. April will be filled with EESTEC activities - we will begin with Local Round of EESTech Challenge. The only week after that first participants of Spring Congress will arrive. Finally, during last week of April, we will organize series of lectures in cooperation with company Nordic Semiconductor. That’s not the end - holidays’ month will bring another local technical event! LC Krakow explores and develops our own leadership potential and introduces students to the corporate world. It is the most important that our goal is not only to work but also to have a great deal of joy together. Our members are full of new creative ideas and ready for new challenges and it is sure that this potential will be used in the best way possible!
Web Platform 9 3/4 From March, 12th 2017 to March, 19th 2017 Participants’ report The academic part has been amazing and for that, I can only bow to our main "professors": Antek and Wojtek and to all those incredible people that helped them teach us about how the mysterious world of Web Wizarding (more commonly known as Web Development) works. I talked with my friends from the event and we all feel that the classes were amazing because they were really funny and open to conversation, whilst managing with no problem to get the knowledge across to us, even if you hadn’t any prior in-depth notions of web development. And of course, no day would be complete without the daily night parties, the hakas and the funky chicken! (not to mention that we pretty much danced and sang everywhere we went). The night parties had been a lot of fun and we had a blast each night with our dear coordinators and a few of the other members of LC Krakow, because they were always joining us. Our favorite surprise had been the escape room, which was beyond awesome, especially because it was the first time for almost all of us.

LC Krakow And I would add that other 2 of my favorites had been the karaoke for singing all night long (our dear organizers had to make a real effort to take us from there) and the Harry Potter-themed pub for the design of the house and the opportunity to do tasks! Last, but not least, the MW had been a blast and we had so so much fun there, singing at the guitar, dancing till we dropped, waking up LC Krakow members, dancing during supper and so so many other things that will remain in our memories forever. Also, I was surprised almost to tears that our organizers gave us the last surprise: diplomas and a picture with all of us in the city! I had a great time, I loved to death my fellow participants, the EESTEC spirit and the energy of the members of LC Krakow, the positivity of the whole event and the fact that it all remained Harry Potter themed from start to finish, which was mind-blowing and I can only congratulate the organizers for the success of this event. Organisers’ report How many spells do you need to know to become a successful Web Wizard? Twelve participants of Web Platform 9 3/4 had a chance to ask this question to LC Krakow’s very own Professors of Web Wizardry during the workshop inspired by Harry Potter theme. The motivation for such a broad topic of the workshop ("web development") was quite simple to give the participants a chance to look at a modern web application from all possible angles. We have discussed all the basic building blocks of a modern web app like databases, servers, backend and frontend but also have covered more advanced topics like communication, cloud, proper tools and UX. And all of

LC Krakow this served with a just right amount of humor and by our fellow EESTECers! But what about another kind of activities - the ones that make us believe in EESTEC because of its spirit and atmosphere? International Night was held in the theme of "Scar Party", so everyone was able to feel like the Chosen One. If anyone tells you, that it wasn’t an "unforgettable" night, be sure that it’s only because of the Obliviate spell. ;) During the City Rally we have managed to save muggles from the dark forces by completing a lot of funny tasks and solving all the riddles. And after that - a butterbeer in the Leaky Cauldron (yes! We have a real one in Krakow!). Our (Motivational) Magical Weekend took place in Murzasichle. We were given a possibility to take part in the Triwizard Tournament and very valuable trainings. In the evening we moved to the Great Hall where we could have a party together. Throughout the whole event, we also did some muggle stuff like partying, going to escape room or just playing board games. The magical event of LC Krakow has finished but the memories are like Horcruxes - stayed alive in a lot of photos, souvenirs and obviously - our minds.

Smart Energy For A Better World 5 From July, 2nd 2017 to July, 8th 2017 Participants’ report ESTEC AGH Krakow, together with ABB, has organized this year’s "Smart Energy For A Better World" workshop. The organizers were looking for applicants who are searching for a professional knowledge of the modern age challenges of electricity, automation and electronics. In other words, we, participants had a chance to get an insight into ABB’s largest research center about multiple topics. In addition to the academic part, we had many different programs. In general, Krakow is an incredible and amazing city. When two hours after meeting other participants and organizers we sat in the room singing songs like old friends, I realized that it would be an unforgettable week. The organizers were able to very accurately understand and reproduce what we needed and interested after lectures. Familiarity with this beautiful city, its culture, its inhabitants, visiting a wide variety of establishments, such as Cyber Machina, a place where everyone will find a game for themselves and have a great time with friends. Various sports and cultural programs, like the Olympic Games and the City Rally, gave us the opportunity to actively spend time and get acquainted with the culture of the city and its inhabitants. Also, thanks to these and other programs, like a neon party or a trampoline park, we were able to get to know each other and the AGH Krakow members much more, which only increased the multiplier of positive emotions entering us. The food was very diverse, including the famous zurek and pierogi, which were very delicious. And what can I say about these world-changing discussions in the late night, thanks to which each of us found something new and important for themselves. I am very grateful to the organizers for this opportunity. These people worked day and night to make the event so great. These people and other participants gave me a lot of emotions. They gave me a huge amount of new knowledge and new friends with whom you want to spend more time. This week brought a lot of joy and a bit of sadness at the end, because you have to say goodbye to this city and these wonderful people. But we do not say farewell, we say see you later, because each of us knows that one day he will visit this city again.

It was amazing to watch how all of them get to know each other and become friends. ABB prepared for participants a lot of lectures and classes. During this week participants could learn about Smart Protection, Power electronics, Ferroresonance phenomena and much more! LC Krakow was responsible for logistics and fun during the event. For the afternoons, we prepared for participants a lot of attractions - we went to Escape Room, had Olympic Games in the park and could sightsee Krakow during City Rally, even rain cannot stop our participants from completing the tasks! The other day we spend in Trampoline Park and had barbecue on AGH Campus. In the evenings we went to different clubs and pubs in Krakow - we were in Game Pub, we had karaoke, Superhero Party and Fluo Party. In the last evening, we organized International Night. We hope that our participants had the smartest and most energ(y)etic beginning of summer!

About LC Lille Our committee was promoted officially as an LC in 2012. Since then, we worked on promoting EESTEC in our engineering school Polytech Lille. First thing you need to know about us: LC Lille is one of the various student’s council associations not an independent entity. This year, we first focused on getting more members and strengthening the commitment. Currently, we are about 20 and we made EESTEC shine even brighter through events we organized in our school. One of the most important one was "the international culture day". We presented EESTEC through several materials such as pictures, some typical European meals, and dancing on Magnifico. Also, thanks to members who travelled, we had the opportunity to help some countries present their culture. This year we organized with LC Aachen the IMW Aixtreme 3 for 30. The last day was in Lille and our member higly appreciated this day with the participants. Participants on their side really liked discovering the french culture and gastronomy. About LC Lisbon EESTEC LC Lisbon was officially founded in 2006 and became an LC during the congress in Athens, in 2010. Our members come from 3 different universities: Universidade de Lisboa (IST/UL), Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCT/UNL) and Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL). Historically, LC Lisbon was founded by students from IST but in order for this local committee to become even greater, it became a joint venture of 3 universities. In June 2014, we created a partnership with IEEE-IST, which lasted 1 year. Throughout the year, we gathered in some local activities such as EESTEC Hour and EESTEC Dinner, where we were able to motivate each other and enjoy a good meal. In the end of November, another EESTEC dinner was held, with 10 LC Lisbon members and the chairman of Observer Aveiro. In the meanwhile, we created some promotional material, such as posters and flyers. We also motivated and supported students from Aveiro, a city of Portugal, and they became officially an EESTEC Observer. Between 30th of April and 7th of May, 2015, an international engineering workshop was organized by us, with 12 participants, which main topics were Arduino and Drones. In the beginning of June 2015, another EESTEC Hour was held. Later that month, a new board was elected and we got a new office at Instituto Superior c cnico (IST, Campus Alameda), where the academic part of our workshop Tà took place. We are about 20 members, of which 10 are active. Greetings from Lisbon, LC Lisbon

About LC Ljubljana
LC Ljubljana, one of the founding LCs of EESTEC, has been active for more than 30 years, and since then our members have been setting high standards with their enthusiasm and ingenuity. Our home institution is the University of Ljubljana, with our members studying at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Computer and Information Science. In our local environment we organise different lectures, soft skills trainings, promote interesting events. The biggest and most important annual local project is JobFair, which we first organised in 2007. It’s an event where companies can meet their potential employees and students can take their first steps of building a career. The fair consists of booth presentations of numerous companies as well as interesting lectures, moderated discussions and speed dating with employers. With such actions we try to help students get the most out of their study years. On the international level, we regularly organise workshops for foreign students, which traditionally conclude with one of our legendary International Motivational Weekends situated in our beautiful countryside. We also have experience with handling bigger events: we organised the 1987 and 1999 Congress and jointly with LC Rijeka the 2008 Congress. In 2014 we prepared our first Advanced Skills Workshop, followed by another two in 2015 and 2016.In 2017 we are organizing a spring congress, as well as another ASW. We always welcome our international guests with awesome parties and one of the most desirable drinks in EESTEC - Borovnicke. We have big plans for the future, as we never run out of highly motivated members, eager to try something new, improve their skills and of course spread EESTEC Spirit!

About LC Madrid Hola everyone! LC Madrid is one of the committees which founded EESTEC back in the 80s, being a former member of the old association which lead to the formation of EESTEC: Eurielec. Since we are very lazy, we have kept this old name, Eurielec, for decades, and it has become now part of our identity. We are located at the Telecommunication School of the Technical University of Madrid (ETSIT UPM), and so far, we are the only LC in Spain. At local level, we work on different Electrical Engineering and Computer Science projects, such as the organisation of Linux and open software courses or the organisation of small workshops on electronics projects. We also work in project about soft skills, working and travelling in Europe. We are the LC responsible for taking care of the International Bureau and getting this Yearbook done! If you want to meet us, don’t hesitate to apply for one of our events!
DigitAll From May, 7th 2017 to May, 14th 2017 Participants’ report Travelling is the most enriching experience a person can have. For me the best trip I have ever had was last week when I went to Madrid to attend an EESTEC Workshop about the new technologies.

Yearbook 2017-2018
LC Madrid In fact I had so much fun visiting Madrid since Cities having a significant cultural heritage have always held a special place in my mind. From the moment I stepped there I was lured by warm splendid weather and the wonderful sceneries that stretch from north to south. Moreover I was amazed by gorgeous monuments of the city and I enjoyed my time sightseeing during the "City Rally"in the miscellaneous touristic places such as Plaza Mayor de Madrid, Theatro Real, The Prado Museum and the Cibele c u and as I am a Palace. I also got the chance to have a tour in the BernabĂƒ huge fan of Real Madrid, It was a great pleasure for me to see all the trophies and Cups gathered together. Actually I was very impressed how the Spanish government has managed to make this Stadium one of the most famous and touristic places that people are eager to visit. A part from this, I enjoyed so much tasting the traditional delicious odd Spanish dishes such as "Tortilla" and "Paella". Furthermore this trip was a life changing experience for me in which I had the opportunity to make new acquaintances with the warm generous welcoming organizers (except the macho Edu) and people from all over the world and acquire new knowledge in the field of augmented reality and virtual reality. This 7-day experience was actually short but rewarding and exciting as I got the chance try 3D smart glasses that are not only able to make you see images at a high resolution but also let you manipulate 3 D objects easily. In addition, I was very lucky too to visit a virtual room, as there are only 11 rooms in the world. On the weekend I went to a Avila where we had the chance the climb the mountains, inhale fresh air and play some games as a part of the IMW. Being part of "DigitAll" was a nice opportunity I seized since I have always been interested by exchanging cultures and learning from my young age. Curiosity and openness were very important values all participants and organizers shared during this workshop.
Organisers’ report From the 7th to the 14th of May, 22 fortunate ones were hosted in Madrid by one of the best LCs ever, being part of an awesome experience we call DigitAll. As most of you should know, one of the best places to party in is Spain, so this story starts is held at a party. During the workshop we had some amazing nights in which some participants started complaining about Spanish music,

LC Madrid and not knowing the lyrics (they cannot get them out of their heads now), we had amazingpartynumber1, amazingpartynumber1, internationalamazingnight, amazingpartynumber3, and then Thursday night came. We went to a club we usually go where people get on the counter bar to dance Coyote Ugly style and a guy with a huge drum plays some sensual rhythms so everyone on the bar dances sensually, one by one, competing for a champagne bottle. Most cheered person wins, and this happens several times during the night. As we usually go we’ve got some usual competitors, one for LC Madrid’s girls would always win this competition, so first time they called for competitors she destroyed the rest and won the bottle for the people in the ws, easy game, easy life. Second time they called for people to compete, one of our participants, (well, I didn’t say that usually girls win this), Stelios, from LC Athens, got on the bar and started competing with girls while he gave it all to the crowd (hm yeah shake it), and he did sooooooo freaking amazing the the whole bar would explode cheering from him and he ended up winning the bottle! That’s how we do in LC Madrid, best LC, best participants ;)

About LC Nis Currently, EESTEC Local Committee Nis counts about 15 active members who are totally committed to maintain the EESTEC atmosphere at the Faculty Of Electronics in Nis, as well as the city in general. We, in the Local committee Nis, believe that being a good engineer does not only involve possessing technical knowledge, but rather good social skills as well. In light of that, we devote a lot of attention to that kind of knowledge. Moreover, we know that acquiring knowledge is nothing without having fun! That’s why we try to combine both components equally during our events. Last year we managed to organize 3 big local events: "Code Craft" programming competition (1st edition in September 2016), "IEEESTEC Student Conference" (9th edition in November 2016) and now we are preparing to organize "Smart technologies’ power for your future" (5th edition in March 2017). This way we are trying to raise academical level in EESTEC. We are looking forward to continue all these projects and of course to organize a new ones and we would be honored if you participate in our future events! Your EESTEC LC Nis.

LC Patras
About LC Patras
EESTEC Patras was founded in 2006. After a few years EESTEC Patras was JLC and then LC. During those years, two international events took place. In 2011, all members of EESTEC LC Patras graduated and during the ECM of 2012 EESTEC Patras was downgraded to Observer. At that point, some students of our University discovered EESTEC and they started making it popular to the students of our department. After two years of being Observer, we managed to motivate enough people to join EESTEC through presentations and local activities, which resulted in a core of members who is highly motivated to organise and participate in EESTEC events and keep the local committee of EESTEC Patras active during the next years. Because of our intense activity of the last months, in December 2014, we got upgraded from Observer to JLC and later at the 29th EESTEC Congress we got promoted to our recent status of an LC. Today, our local committee is counting about 189 members which are students of the University of Patras. Since last year we have organised the following events: -Operation:S.U.N. 2.0, our second exchange event with 4 international and 28 local participants. -We organized set of workshops for the students of our University in order to empower their knowledge and guide them from theory to practical skills.

Operation: S.U.N. 2.0 From July, 10th 2017 to July, 16th 2017 Participants’ report Hello ! My name is Ugur Kiliç from LC Istanbul. The previous summer, 10/07/2017 up to 16/07/2017 i was going to an exchange event named "Operation: S.U.N. 2.0" and the Organizing Committee was LC Patras. I liked that the event didn’t have a lot of activities because the point of this one was to enjoy the greek sun.The number of the Activities Sessions were manageable. My favourite session was the final challenge because everyone was part at this and it was so cool!!! The organizers working good, the logistics (accommodation, transport, etc.) were really good. The camping was nice. The strongest point of the event is the fact that everyone could really enjoy themselves and do whatever (well you know what i mean) they want. The weakest point of the event is that the teams didn’t cooperate well during the challenges and due to that it wasn’t like an actual city rally. The food (in terms of quantity) was perfect! Oh man, I was so full!! The fun (Parties, nights out, etc.) were irresistible! I liked more the last party than the others, when everyone was learning better each other through the "never have i ever..." game. Apart from some weak points i noticed almost everything fullfilled my expectations and maybe even more, this event motivate me to get involved with EESTEC in a more active manner.
Organisers’ report From the organizers’ aspect there existed quite a few difficulties. In the beginning we worked and planned everything with good communication and nice creative mind. But there occurred difficulties as far as the applications are concerned; meaning of that we had only 4 international participants even though we had and followed a quite good promoting strategy. We realized that the participation problem had to do with other international exchange events happening in EESTEC that period which offered a better package of holidays.

LC Patras Even though we had few participants we tried to help them, have fun and feel the EESTEC Spirit throughout the whole event. But because we had many local participants that where new to EESTEC, willing to have fun and just enjoy the OpSUN 2.0 , there was a problem in making the internationals feel like home. We discussed with the locals to try to be more friendly, speak English and care more about EESTEC International and we truly show a change from a good quantity of participants. About the place, it was a nice camping area, we had beautiful view near the sea and also some shadow to rest and chill below some trees, we could eat our food and reach the beach immediately. The only problem with the camping area was that we were not alone there so sometimes, occurred some noise issues from some older guests. But after all the complaints stop and everyone was satisfied enjoying the SUN and summer holidays. Last but not least, as we saw after our participants’ feedback, after and during the event of Operation SUN 2.0 , the activities were funny and nice from the majority of people. There were some suggestions about more crazy parties, that we are going to reach in consideration in our further events, whatever the character of the event. Generally we realized that we should be more concerned about the selection of our local participants in order to offer a better future in our local area.

LC Podgorica
About LC Podgorica
Local Committee Podgorica was officially accepted into full membership on EESTEC Congress in Delft, in 2000th year and it is the only local committee in Montenegro.
It currently has about 120 members. We are aware of the seriousness of our future calls as well as quality of knowledge we adopt at our university, but we believe that knowledge acquired by doing something practical is a big plus for future engineers, and it’s much easier to acquire knowledge through fun so we try to procure that to our members. Most of our members are active, and few of them are alumni members who helped us a lot in organizing our events. We organized different kind of events till now. Some events were with educational character - seminars about energetics and telecommunications, course of web programming, yearly charity events - charity action of collecting clothes, candies and school tools for children with disabilities from a local school, summer exchanges, motivational weekends and a workshop this summer.
EESTEC LC Podgorica is one of the most active student’s organization in Montenegro and has very good cooperation with similar organizations. We are planning to organize more projects which, we hope will be very interesting for our and students from other colleges.

Multidisciplinary Innovations in Bioinformatics From July, 2nd 2017 to July, 9th 2017 Participants’ report I had a really great time in Podgorica. The event was very interesting. I studied bioinformatics but still got several new informations which was so useful and I will use it in furute for sure. I liked the web design and the connecting sensors to actuators by arduino. The LC was helpful, always searching for what we need, to feel good and enjoy. I got a lot of friends now at Podgorica. The parties were good when half of the songs were English so everyone of us could enjoy them. I enjoyed the International night, not just because it was on my birthday, but because of the pool party which made it unique. The accommodation was quite good and we had enough food to choose. The places we visited had great views and the seaside was my favourite, chilling there was awesome part of the event. To sum up I just can’t wait to go back and meet the people of LC Podgorica again.
Organisers’ report The workshop "Multidisciplinary Innovations in Bioinformatics" was organized in July 2017 in Podgorica and Kotor. The event consisted of an educational and entertaining part. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the latest ICT technologies in the areas of agriculture, marine biology, environmental monitoring from experts of BIO-ICT Centre of Excellence. Through practical trainings and lectures, they

LC Podgorica gained knowledge of these topics and had the chance to implement this knowledge in a particular project. During the seven days of the workshop, besides Podgorica and Kotor, we visited many important tourist sites from other cities: Ostrog Monastery, many historical sites from Cetinje, the famous mountain Lovcen and Njegos’s mausoleum, luxury port Porto Montenegro in Tivat ...The participants will surely remember the fantastic International night in Pricelje, in a villa with a swimming pool. We spent the last two days of the event in Kotor, where the participants met the beauties of the old town of Kotor and enjoyed the sunny days on the beach. We also visited a part of the Bay of Kotor, which is officially one of the 25 most beautiful bays in the world. During the event, and mostly on the international night, participants had the chance to try Montenegrin products: Niksicko beer, Montenegrin wine, rakija, prsuta, kacamak and other traditional food.

LC Sarajevo
About LC Sarajevo In the summer of 2006, a group of young and motivated students came together, combined their ideas, and focused all their effort into forming EESTEC LC Sarajevo, and with that joined the unique EESTEC family. No one was surprised when then, the small LC Sarajevo grew into a large and powerful organization that gathers a big number of enthusiastic students full of positive energy, eager to meet new people and broaden their horizons. EESTEC Sarajevo is now a mosaic of 400 active and alumni members, and with each new piece, it becomes more diverse. Each individual contributes with their creativity, ideas and knowledge, making it possible for LC Sarajevo, as a team, to achieve big things! Our mission is to promote electrical engineering students, and to make it possible for them to travel to major European cities in order to improve their technical knowledge, foreign languages, but also to acquire unique values, lifelong memories, to learn to appreciate different cultures and become richer with every friend they make. Thanks to our motivation and teamwork we have successfully organized many educational, as well as fun projects, on local and international level such as: - Our yearly JobFAIR for students and graduates of technical and technological faculties; - Local event "Soft Skills Academy Sarajevo" for all students studying in Sarajevo, organized in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017; - International student exchange "EESTEC Winter Olympic Games Sarajevo", organized in 2009 and 2011; - International workshop about film making "eMovie Academy", organized in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2016;

Mind Your Own Business From May, 6th 2017 to May, 12th 2017 Participants’ report I will begin by saying that I’ve loved my first event from the ground up, from the friendly and talkative people who waited for us at the airport to the last day when all of us were sadly buying stuff for home. The accommodation was really interesting due to its history and it was an advantage that we always ate near or inside the hostel, which, because of its location, offered us many possibilities of socializing spots.

LC Sarajevo Regarding the workshop itself, I confess that I was really excited about this event, because it’s what I study at the faculty, and it met my expectations: working in groups, having both active training sessions and lectures, being challenged, being offered constructive feedback. Now, the fun part! We really had that one during the City Rally! I felt so good sightseeing and being surrounded by the helpful Bosnian people while doing the tasks, like performing Haka with strangers in a public place or becoming some chess figures for old people. We did all of those trying not to meet the other teams since we weren’t good at wheelbarrow racing :)). Also, I enjoyed the barbecue on the mountain, which was a great way of socializing, getting some rest and relaxing before the final pitch. I hope I’ll have the opportunity to return to Sarajevo soon (and, if I don’t ask much, to attend an International Night there) <3 !! With love, Dominique Gherghe, LC Bucharest
Organisers’ report Question all our participants were asked before they applied for "Mind Your Own Business" workshop was "Are you afraid of the road to entrepreneurial success being winding, full of obstacles and blind turns?" And none of them was. Throughout the week, they devotedly attended numerous training sessions and lectures while passionately working on their business and marketing plans, and final presentations of their innovative ideas. LC Sarajevo agreed that we won’t be surprised if pretty soon we hear about a group of EESTECers from "Mind Your Own Business" workshop starting their own business and entering a world of entrepreneurship. Of course, that wasn’t all this workshop offered to its participants and orga-

City rally was marked by exciting wheelbarrow races, dancing and singing all around the city, doing inevitable Slaw Squat and earning some free beers. Our participants left Sarajevo richer for an experience of being introduced to the spirit of entrepreneurs, an opportunity to practically work on their innovative ideas, and many many new friendships.
Every Now and 10 From May, 12th 2017 to May, 14th 2017 Participants’ report The IMW lasted two days: the first had the gala dinner and the second had the gala ceremony. I personally enjoyed both of them. Both days ended with a party, as it was to be expected. I remember the second party, when LC Sarajevo had

LC Sarajevo a big club rented only for us, which was really cool - there was no shortage of drinks and the music was good. I enjoyed the atmosphere and I can say I made many friends, and also reconnected with some older ones, which made this IMW special for me. A downside was that being invaded by people from the Balkan region means you will hear a lot of their language, and risk being ignored. The organisers tried to compensate this by talking to us but this was not always possible as we were being heavily outnumbered. Overall I can say I felt good during their event and would come again if I will have the chance. Oh and I loved the themed chocolates! Robert Statescu, LC Bucharest
Organisers’ report IMW Every Now and 10 brought together around 150 EESTECers from 10 different generations of EESTEC LC Sarajevo and our dear friends from all around the Europe. This IMW was devoted to the gala celebration of EESTEC LC Sarajevo’s 10th birthday. On Friday evening, we started a journey through the time trying to remember all those special moments of genuine happiness and pride. With bright smiles on our faces, we celebrated ten years of true friendships and loves, successes, a continuous progress of our Local Committee, and learning and growing together. In the meantime, we tried to make sure our dear guests encountered true EESTEC spirit and hospitality of LC Sarajevo. Therefore, the weekend was full of those little moments when we made new friends or excitedly welcomed old friends. Together we enjoyed delicious food, drinks, party atmosphere, sights of Sarajevo, and reliving some special memories.

LC Skopje
About LC Skopje The Local Committee in Skopje was founded in the year of 2003 and with countless events organized in the past it’s considered to be one of the most active establishments in the EESTEC network. EESTEC LC Skopje for over fifteen years offers Ss Cyril and Methodius University students’ a new level of complementary education based on improving their soft skills by working on different projects. Also it offers them the chance to upgrade their knowledge by taking part of international projects, learning new things and meeting new people and cultures. Its mission is to expand the students’ views and give them a chance to practically use their skills. Besides that, on international level, LC Skopje also has the task to promote the Macedonian culture.
EESTECers Gone Wild 5 From July, 25th 2017 to July, 30th 2017 Participants’ report Friends, parties and beach. That was EGW5 all about. If I were to go back 3 months ago, I would have still applied for this awesome event. For me, it was an extremely delightful pleasure to see so many familiar faces and new ones. I enjoyed all the crazy parties in Ohrid with people having a great time. But the days spent in Skopje were also cool and we were happy to visit the beautiful capital of Macedonia. The park chilling in Skopje gave us the opportunity to have a good time before arriving in Ohrid and go wild. Who amongst us can forget the party bus, the boat party, all the people getting messed up at the parties and,

Organisers’ report So as summer is coming to an end, so is the end of our adventures, but don’t fret, we always will have the memories from this one! What memories you ask? Well for the 5th time, EESTEC LC Skopje organized EESTECers Gone Wild, or in short EGW 5. The event took place from the 25th to the 30th of July on the streets of Skopje, and the coast of Ohrid. It was a fun filled 6 days with a lot of parties, beaches, swimming, friendships, love, EESTEC Spirit and a whole new level of happiness. And let us not forget the plentiful laughs and undoubtedly funny situations which we’ll remember for quite a while. And if that wasn’t enough, the parties that raged on until the break of dawn, were the epitome of a good time, and we must not forget the epic boat party that’s become a tradition on EGW! As the days went on, we all were ecstatic about what every new day would bring, and a little bit sad that it’s moving to it’s inevitable end. But then we remembered about the friendships we made, the old friendships we rekindled, the new memories that were born on this 6 days of epicness. The memories that will follow us until we meet again, maybe on the next iteration of EGW?

Code App Level Up 4 From February, 25th 2018 to March, 4th 2018 Participants’ report The Code App Level Up workshop in Skopje was an amazing event, and was a week of my life I will never forget. I enjoyed so many aspects of the event, from the work on the website with my team to the evenings where I would get to mingle with the other participants. My favourite aspects of designing the website was getting to work in a motivated team, with new people who I had never worked with before, and the subject matter of the websites. I think socially responsible websites were a great idea and enjoyed working on one with my team immensely. My favourite parts of the evenings were when we had Macedonian night and I saw a little bit of Macedonian culture, and the international night where I got a small taste of food and beverages from each country. Overall I’d say my time in Macedonia was fruitful from an educational standpoint as well as from a social standpoint. It was a week where I got to make a lot of memories I am sure I will

LC Skopje cherish for the rest of my life. From Donnacha Lynch
Organisers’ report It was a long cold snowy week in the end of February that a lot of EESTECers will remember. What happened that week you ask? Well, for the 4th consecutive time, EESTEC LC Skopje organized the workshop Code App Level Up, which this year was web oriented. The subject of the workshop was Community oriented web sites, and quite a few creative fresh ideas were molded into functional web sites, which had a great benefit for the environment we live in. The event took place from the 25th of February to the 4th of March, in Skopje. It was a week filled with happiness, friendships, knowledge, parties, laughter and EESTEC Spirit, which I’m sure the participants enjoyed as much as the organizers who prepared it for them! The days went by flawlessly, where each day would create a new memory, a new thing about which we can laugh about in the future, a new adventure and we were all a bit sad as it was coming to the end. But an event really doesn’t ever end. It lives in our hearts, our memories and our friendships which will get stronger, as we see each other on future events. Presumably on Code App Level Up 5, who knows?

LC Tampere
About LC Tampere LC Tampere is one of the founding members of EESTEC and has been in EESTEC since its very beginning in 1986. At the beginning of 2000 LC Tampere became an independent club to serve Computer Science and Electrical Engineering students alike. In the Autumn 2017 we were happy to organize another great event Reshaping Reality. Our local activities at the moment are random hangouts, sauna evenings, and as a new concept we are having weekly coffee hours in our club room. During summer we have of course our summer gathering where we go to a cottage by a lake and have a fun weekend together. One important step for our LC is to become a registered organization, since the two universities in Tampere are fusing together. LC Tampere is still staying strong in the north!
Reshaping Reality From September, 23rd 2017 to September, 30th 2017 Participants’ report Between 23. -30. September LC Tampere organized an amazing workshop called: "Reshaping reality". The main topic of the workshop was virtual reality. We got the chance to work with high end technology; we had the experience of strolling around on a omni deck - which basically lets you walk through your virtual world. We had the impossible challenge of creating functional games in 4 days time - but not one of the teams slacked on their work and in the end we - although they weren’t perfect-

LC Tampere produced four fun and playable games. To quote a participant Maciek Zawilski (LC Gdansk) :" I don’t think there was ever a workshop where the academic part was so much fun, that the participants refused to go to the pub crawl - in order to work some more". However we don’t mean to imply that we didn’t have any non-academic fun... because that would be an insult to our awesome organizers. They made sure we got to experience the Finnish (student) culture at its finest. We went from sauna to sauna, sang at the Sitsit until we lost our voices, played extreme monopoly (Herwantapeli), visited some more saunas, beheld the breathtaking landscapes of Hervanta, where we had a bbq and an outdoor sauna(!!), had a drill in heavy metal music, played Finnish outdoor games, and so much more. Personally, I will remember my time in Finland as a week of joy and laughter, there are not enough words to describe the amazingness of everything, but I suppose that every EESTECer knows exactly the feelings I’m talking about. written by Ana Marija Milojevic
Organisers’ report Again it was time to wish our brave participants welcome when we started our latest workshop Reshaping Reality! This time the idea of the project was to develop HTC Vive compatible games with Unity. Before starting the actual project we played some traditional Kyykka, did the city rally and went to sauna of course. After being a little bit shy, almost every participant went to sauna during the first weekend. We started the project work by scanning few rooms in our bomb shelter. Our purpose was to use the scanned 3D model of the bomb shelter as a base in our VR games. Unfortunately working with the 3D data was a bit challenging. But in the end it didn’t matter much

LC Tampere because soon every group started to work straight with their games since adding features in Unity was pretty easy. On Monday, our participants visited in a new lab, Center for Immersive Visual Technologies (CIVIT) in Tampere University of Technology. Everybody had a unique chance to try out just installed Omnideck device manufactured by Omnifinity. With Omnideck one could move freely in VR environment. Next days were spent with game development which was really great to follow. Even inexperienced programmer could learn enough Unity in one day so they could contribute to their group work. One activities during the week were bbq party by a lake where be had a mobile sauna. Our participants got to know also the exciting game called Herwantapeli which was a bit like a huge game of Monopoly where you paid everything by drinking. On Thursday night, working sessions prolonged a lot and it was admirable to notice how motivated our participants were with their projects. In the end we skipped the entire pub crawl so every group could finish their work. But after we were done, we moved straight to the club and took part in one of the biggest student parties of the year. Many of the games developed during the three days period were mindblowing once we finally got to test them in the CIVIT lab. There were many cool game ideas like room escape and space cat invaders shoot them up. After having fun with the games it was time to get ready for sitsit party in Teekkarisauna. There was almost 50 participants present in the cyber punk themed sitsit and you could almost feel the excitement. After sitsit, sauna and hot tub were waiting for us and soon night changed to morning while partying. More info here: https://reshapingrealitytampere.tumblr.com/ report by Antti Peltotalo

LC Thessaloniki
About LC Thessaloniki
It all started from Konstantinos our former chairman, when he brought the idea of EESTEC to Thessaloniki in September 2015. A year fast forward and Konstantinos alongside Mariana, Athina and Giannis are our first ever board ready to lift our then observer of the ground. The first thing to help us achieve that was our first ever International workshop "App Wars - The JAVA Awakens" which took place in 2-9 of April in 2017 with 12 EESTECers and 12 local participants.App Wars was soon followed by an amazing Motivational Day, a successful recruitment and our first ever SSA in November with trainings focused on self- development and leadership. After all these when the Autumn Congress arrived in Zagreb we couldn’t contain our happiness nor our eagerness to become an LC.There we all felt as a small but equally important part of an amazing family and got our hopes high for the future. From that point and on we had our new board elections, handover sessions and an amazing Motivational Day where new and older members bonded together even more. Finally jumping to today we can’t not mention the effort and hard work almost everyone in our committee has put in the organization of our second event PrinterStellar that will take place this May. We are all very excited and looking forward for this experience. This alongside the fact that our committee either through members, annual teams or local events keeps growing and getting every day stronger than the day before makes us hopeful and eager to see what we can achieve. We might have a long way to go but we are ready for this challenge!

App Wars : The Java Awakens From April, 2nd 2017 to April, 9th 2017 Participants’ report And because no one can describe our previous event better than our participants, here is what Sladjana had to say about her experience: "I am very happy to say that I was one of the twelve participants in the very first workshop organised by LC Thessaloniki. The workshop "App Wars: The Java Awakens" was about programming and we learned how to make Android applications. Beside the official academic part we enjoyed beautiful city and delicious food and drinks. The most important of all was that we met amazing friendly and hospitable people from EESTEC Thessaloniki. Together with them we explored all famous landmarks and interesting bars and clubs as well. City rally, White tower, going on a picnic and visiting fortresses above the city are some of the things that I will always remember. Beautiful sunny weather and smiling faces created great atmosphere so we didn’t feel tired or sleepy although we studied hard during the day and partied hard during the night. We all had really wonderful time and made unforgettable memories."
Organisers’ report The organizing committee of "App-Wars; The JAVA Awakens" consisted of 4 subteams; academics, fundraising, logistics and public relations’ team. Each one numbered 4-5 members of our committee, most of them without prior EESTEC experience but with the willingness and enthusiasm to work for a successful international workshop. Accordingly, the main challenge that both 4 team-leaders faced was to keep the members motivated, despite the fact that they did not know exactly what to expect from a workshop. In addition, since our committee was not that popular among the university and the local market, we encountered a problem to find interested professors and students for the academic sessions as well as companies to support the event financially. However, through hard work, dedication and a highly collaborative working environment we managed to organize a very successful workshop that led to a valuable improvement of our image

LC Trieste
About LC Trieste EESTEC LC Trieste was born in our city from an idea based on the drive to socialize, to strive for knowledge and internationalization and EESTEC International delivers those values to all its members. Let’s travel back in time to the year 2000, when the new millennium started. In the reports of the EESTEC Congress in Delft of that year is hidden our "certificate of birth": Observer Trieste was born on 22nd march 2000 thanks to Danko Tomasic and Marko Nikolic, creating the first core of our group, officially presented by LC Rijeka. The next year the EESTEC Congress in London gave us the rank of "LC" and we officially joined the big family: it was the beginning of a big but not easy adventure. The first years were the most difficult, as may happen to any students’ association: we had to create the "brand" of our LC, make us known in the university ambient, to the students (initially just electronic engineering and computer science) and the municipality. All of that while organizing some events, increasing the number of participants on each event, gathering LC members and meeting with other EESTECers in the international area. The year 2006 was a year of change, when a new board decided to insert the organization even more in the academic ambient, creating closer networks with professors, the IEEE local organization and making the basic international part of EESTEC happen. It was the group led by Arling Doberdolani, which in the three years following, brought "Wake up for Bavisela" to life, the first locally organized international event. It was somehow a heroic event for the adaptability, initiative and will of realizing something important with very limited budgets. The shared ideal of getting in contact with other ambients, cultures and making international friends was the driving force for all the organizers. Another big year was 2012 when Erni Durdevic and his very active group were hungry for action and experience, so they performed a burocratic change in the statutes of our association: we switched from a simple student group to a fully legally accepted Cultural Association. Some big workshops on the computer science topic were made and the first really big locally organized international event took place (1st EESTEC Summer School - 2012) with the support of some
174
Yearbook 2017-2018
LC Trieste big regional companies. All those successes were the first big result of years of students believing in our work and in what EESTEC could bring to them. But we didn’t stop there, since the next year EESTEC LC Trieste expanded its world by becoming officially an Association of Social Promotion, breaking the record of 15 members, organizing another international technical event (2nd EESTEC Summer School - 2013) and organizing and participating to more local events like the Mini Maker Faire Trieste, the first Arduino workshops and a workshop about the EFT technique to reduce the stress of the exam sessions. The last international event was a big news for us since it was not technical (Game of Teams) but about Soft Skills, the necessary and never taught set of abilities to understand how humans work together and how to do it without creating conflicts and maximizing the team efficiency. Two years ago we have broken into some difficulties: a lot of our active EESTECers had left the LC and for this reason our hopeful event EESTEChef had failed. Nevertheless this situation don’t make us discourage and thanks to a heavy and well organised work of engagement we bacame stronger than before. Actually our Board is the youngest ever seen in LC Trieste and we hope this would be a powerful resourse for the LC. In the last year we had organised some projects, among which there is the season 2 of our successful event:Game of Teams and now we are focusing to solve our strenghtless points and to organising a new technical event. Here’s our story, that’s how we become who we are. Now... we are waiting for you! If you’re interested in meeting us and enjoing our city applicate applicate applicate to our exiting events!

About LC Tuzla
While they were on International Electrical Engineering Students Gathering, widely known as Elektrijada, which had taken place in Ohrid in 2006 , Jasmina Nalic and Hajrija Jahic have come across to an idea for establishing EESTEC in Tuzla. Members of the LC Rijeka had big part in planting that idea. After that, "The Observer Team Tuzla", which was led by Jasmina Nalic and Marina Benes, has been registered. We became Junior LC on the Congress in Budapest in 2007 , where we were represented by Hajrija Jahic. The members of the first board were: Hajrija Jahic - Chairwoman, Mirza Becirbasic - Vice-Chairman, Laris Maglic - Treasurer, Jasmina Nalic - Contact Person, Samir Mesic - Fundraising, Irvin Hot - Web Designer, with the help of our most active members: Marina Benes, Kresic Igor, Zlatko Alomerovic, Senad Karic, Sandra Hasanovic, Semir Karic, Admir Mujkic, Nadin Dizdarevic, Mirza Nakicevic, Jahic Jasmin, Amela Begic, Amer Bosnjic, Anida Mumic etc. Thanks to their dedication and hard work, the EESTEC spirit and idea has been spread among new generations, and we have become full-fledged local committee. The first workshop, organised by LC Tuzla, was held on 3rd to 10th July 2007, under the name "Linux as an alternative". This is followed by "GIS & GPS" in 2009, "IPTV-The Next Generation TV" in 2011, "EESTEChnology" in 2013 and "SmarTech - Android Projects" in 2016. Today EESTEC LC Tuzla counts about 70 members, and with each day, this number is growing, alongside with EESTEC spirit.

LC Xanthi
About LC Xanthi LC Xanthi was founded by two graduate students from Democritus University of Thrace studying Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2010. We became a JLC in 2013 and a LC the year after. Since 2010, new members are joining our Commitment every year. By organizing or taking part in seminars and events, they have managed to develop themselves and the Commitment, as well as learn useful and practical things for their lives. By the end of this year, we will have organized five International Workshops, one Exchange, one HOBOM and one WiBOM. At a local level, we have organized four "UniDay", two "CareerDay" and two "Soft Skills Academy (SSA)", all with great success! Apart from all that, in EESTEC we have become a family where love, solidarity and mutual contribution have created a miniature of an ideal world. Our goal is to continue spreading the EESTEC spirit both locally and internationally for years to come.

LC Xanthi them whisper about ’preparty’, ’broken beds’, ’partouza’ and ’room 606’ - things that still need to be investigated. Undercover police managed to infiltrate the scene and gave us first hand insight. In the beginning, there was a ritual rally through the city, involving wine ceremonies in the honor of Dionysos, much Zaziki, a new drink called ’Malaka beer’ and a guidance dog named Marika. The project was well covered up by parties with black light, others in Greek clubs and a karaoke event. Somehow, people involved were still able to build electronic devices and to cook suspicious substances. Rumors say locals motivated the experts to be on time with beer in the morning. Just when the justice planned to strike, the group moved to mountain bungalows in a forest. The undercover unit reports about long nights at chimney fires, barbecue and a long hike to impressing waterfalls, where only an elite troop called ’team red pill’ arrived. It seems like their project was very successful: The involved people saw the week as a ’Xanthastic workshop’ and many plan to come back and recommend it to their business partners. What awaits our city in the future?
Organisers’ report We are very happy to say that everything went according to the plan! Actually, we realized that investing so much time in planning the international workshop made us not to feel confused or stressful during the event. The academic part was likable by the participants and we achieved our goal which was to make them understand everything that we did during those days. Industrial automation was a matter that they liked from the beginning and its application to something so innovative brought out their interest. Our goal was to make a simple and understandable academic part so that all participants would be on the same level and

LC Xanthi obtain some basic knowledge on arduino. On the logistic part, we believe that we provided them everything they need and made them feel happy and comfortable with us. The best part of feeling comfortable with us, was their freedom to ask us anything they want and we were more than happy to offer it. Furthermore, we think that parties and night-outs provided and excellent atmosphere and made us come closer to each other. We were told all the time that our hospitality, our members and our EESTEC Spirit was amazing for them. Our parties were full of energy and EESTEC songs, so we believe this was a special reason which made the event unique and unforgettable. Last but not least, our FR team, the team that made this event real made its best. With great patience and perseverance, they have managed not only to cover the basic costs of the event, but also to take it to another level and exceed every expectation. All in all, we are more than happy that both the participants and the organizers had a wonderful time during the event and the IMW among new and old friends. After all, EESTEC is all about motivation, gaining new experiences and making new friends.

Next day morning there was an optional trip to the Plitvice Lakes national park. It is the most visited national park in Croatia and under UNESCO protection! People that decided to stay in Zagreb went sightseeing and had lunch. On Saturday evening, after we all gathered in Zagreb there was a classy dinner-party in a 5-star hotel. We were there until morning hours and then returned in accommodations. Sunday was the departure day. Luckily we managed to drink coffee with most participants in the morning and said goodbyes. It was a great IMW and we hope we will be able to organize another one soon! On behalf of ACOC, Karlo Sudec

About LC Zurich EESTEC LC Zurich is legally and practically a part of the AMIV; the students guild representing mechanical and electrical engineering students at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich). The members of our LC are mechanical and electrical engineering students at ETH. The external representative of EESTEC LC Zurich is the chairperson, while contact with other LC’s in Europe and EESTEC International is kept by the Contact Person (CP). Depending on the task, workgroups are formed to take care of events and workshop. Our chairperson calls for a member meeting at least every two weeks where we cook and eat dinner together and talk about news and projects. That way, there are always interesting challenges for everybody interested in joining EESTEC LC Zurich! In the last year, we organised one international Workshop: From 3rd till 10th of December we hosted the workshop "Balloon Adventures in Low Level Space". The workshop addressed the so far unique topic of high altitude ballooning. The participants added sensors to an Arduino board and then programmed it to measure and save the data. At the end of the week the participants sent the balloon on it’s journey where it got lost in the mountains in Austria. Of course, the workshop also offered a diverse cultural and evening program. Besides the almost mandatory city rally, tram party and International Night they also got to enjoy various parties and other activities. Furthermore, the subsequent weekend in the Alps is a must for all LC Zurich workshops - participants and organisers have to recover after a very exhausting week. Our local events during the past year included the visit of LC Ljubljana’s IMW, a presentation of the project created at the workshop in Tampere, EESTech Chal-

Balloon Adventures in Low Level Space From December, 3rd 2017 to December, 10th 2017 Participants’ report This december I was one of the lucky EESTECers getting the chance to be a participant of the in one of the famous workshops organised by LC Zurich: Balloon Adventures in Low Level Space. Our main goal was to send a weather balloon in stratosphere and gather information through sensors as temperature sensor, humidity and accelerometer. Ever since the first day, after the introduction lecture, we got an Arduino board and a pair of sensors and we started working hard. It was a fun challenge to work together for our common goal and we were proud to see our balloon flying, together with a pack of ricola because we were in Zurich after all. Even if we couldn’t get the board with all the data back, we got enough information sent through wifi to have a view on the atmospheric changes in altitude. In addition we even had a soft skills training on Teamwork, offered by Philipp Butschle. But EESTEC is not only about learning, we had crazy thematic parties, since the first evening when we were surprised with a room full of balloons, intense challenges every day, two complex fun city rallys, one during day and one during night, a tram party and even an escape room (’Escape the Bunker’ ). And let’s not forget the IMW when we were traveling to the famous Swiss Alps, in Rona, where probably the most of us had the first encounter with snow this year. We had the chance to go skiing, sledding or just walking around; and taste a little of the Swiss culture at the Swiss night where we enjoyed the traditional fondue and drinks. One in one we had a great time, the academic and non-academic part were tied very well and we enjoyed a full LC Zurich workshop experience.

Organisers’ report We started the event by programming Arduinos to read out sensors for humidity and temperature. Afterwards, we put one of those Arduinos in a box together with other sensors as a payload for the balloon. We launched the weather balloon with the box attached on wednesday with the support of the Institute for Atmospheric and Climate Science at ETH. We were able to remotely track the balloon until shortly before it landed, afterwards we lost the signal due to the mountains. We tried to recover it, but it landed in the austrian mountains and due to the snow, we were not able to do so. While the organizers were on the rescue mission, our participants had the chance to visit Zurich during the city rally, which was fun despite the cold temperatures. In the end, we prepared a small escape room in our bunker to wake the people up on thursday and then continued with a soft skill training. We ended the day with some free time for our participants to recover and visit the city on their own. We concluded the workshop on friday with the evaluation of the data we gathered before we lost the signal.
