Yearbook Team Dear EESTECers, Here we are. The team which worked for this year’s amazing Yearbook. For this year, we didn’t have a Yearbook manager but History Collectors Team was responsible. So in the picture, you can see my lovely team and the magnificent Data Team leader Natalija! Many thanks to all of these people’s contribution and hard work. Throughout the year, as the History Collectors Team, we have worked to gather lots of infos from the Commitments and their events. The yearbook was our first official task to complete successfully and there is no doubt that the info, which we already had, led us to reach more. About Yearbook, we decided to have more details for this year. You will be able to see every part of EESTEC International and all the Commitments, even the new Observers who joined us just a week ago. While working as a History Collectors Team Coordinator, the most useful sources that I used were yearbooks. I hope, this Yearbook will also help the next generations to have better knowledge. Last but not least, THANK YOU for your contribution and additions. Without your inputs, that book wouldn’t be possible. I hope, you will enjoy while reading! Happy reading, #LetsMakeHistoryTogether Naim Tirali

Introduction

EESTEC Structure The structure of EESTEC International in the mandate 2018/19, under the overview of the Board of the Association, was created with the purpose of encompassing all of the developmental and maintenance needs of the Association. It aims to develop and maintain the assets of the Association, which include the public image, our core activities, the information flow, support towards our Commitments, and any other needs that will make our Association sustainable and help achieve the Annual Plan of the Association for the mandate. The entities that are active under the overview of the Board of the Association are split into: 8 International Teams 6 International Projects 1 Departmental Project 2 Departmental Teams 3 Board Assistants The International Teams and Projects are usually structured into a Team/Project

Introduction Board, which consists of the Leader of the International Team or Project, and its Coordinators. They are in charge of fulfilling the specific needs of the Association. The Departmental Teams and Projects are usually directly under a certain Board position and are handling tasks which directly fulfill the goals of the position. They are either managed by the particular Boardie, or by a Leader who cooperates with the Boardie. The Board Assistants are individuals directly managed by a Board position which help fulfill the goals of that position.

International Board Members of the Board: Chairperson: Elvis Skozdopolj Treasurer: Philipp Butschle Vice-Chairperson for External Affairs: Ana Pantelic Vice-Chairperson for Internal Affairs: Paula Wesolowska Vice-Chairperson for Administrative Affairs: Dajana Yasir Dear EESTECers, It was a pleasure to ensure our Association to grow and be sustainable for another year. This is the 33rd year of EESTEC, 1st year of implementation of Strategic Plan 2018/2023 and another memorable year for all of us. Filled with new experiences, technical knowledge, goals, travelling, friendships and improvements. EESTEC is what you want it to be. We can perceive it as a playground and place for establishing new ideas, trying, failing and trying again. As well, cherishing an environment for the possibility of making mistakes, establishing open communication and most importantly experiencing EESTEC spirit to the fullest. Events will come and go - but the moments with other participants will be there for a lifetime. During our mandate, we initiated Statutory changes and matching Association and Financial Year. Next, to changing most of our Policy Papers and adding Structure Policy Paper, we initiated new parts of our structure connected to Branding, Human Resources and Business Model. New Operational Events were organized- CRedit and Brand.Comm and one of the most important thing that occurred was servers migration and new Mailman that we are truly thankful to IT Team and their involvement. Of course, none of the goals and ideas would be possible without every

International Bureau International Bureau Secretary: Javier Sanz Saez Hello! I am Javier and I am EESTEC’s International Bureau Secretary. I have been elected at this year’s Autumn Congress and I cannot be happier to be in such an important position for EESTEC. But! what have I done during my mandate? The IB situation at the time of my election was the following: there was an urgent need of digitalizing tons of documents that were important for EESTEC but that weren’t on EESTEC’s database, such as Congresses reports. With that background in mind, the moment I became IB Secretary I started getting familiar with the database and the nitty gritty of it. In our lovely LC, the physical IB is located in a big armchair, with four shelves full of paper. Because I had the feeling most of the documents were out-dated or not important (for example, a ten-year-old ticket from Hamburg in which the payer had purchased a big bacon burger with extra fries), I made an inventory of the shelves. The inventorization took me up to two months! At the start of January 2019 I finished up with a brand-new list of documents and, as you may have guessed it, most of them were irrelevant. With that list, I created another list, this one only containing important documents, such as EESTEC Statutes (in German, English, and Spanish) or reports from the first Congress ever made (history collectors may be now screaming in happiness). Finally, with the list 2.0, I went to a copy center, digitalized the documents and finally upload them to the database! Hooray!

15

International Bureau What have I learned from this experience? Being an IB Secretary has allowed me to know a lot about our association. Reading the very first foundations of EESTEC and how everything has been evolving into our great association is very rewarding. It also has allowed me to broaden my mind regarding Europe, especially when more and more Observers are coming! What’s my future right now? Well, I guess for now I can enjoy lovely holidays from documents, with a glass of sangria. With all the important documents uploaded onto the database, I believe I will be their warden. You can now think of me as a librarian. A Spanish meme-and-party lover librarian.

Oversight Committee

The Oversight Committee members are: Marta Blaszczyk Iza Burnik Luc Enthoven Justyna Kulaga The Oversight committee is one of the committees which works a lot behind the scenes. They maintain contact with the board and are there to support them. As of these days, there are three main responsibilities in the Oversight Committee. These are monitoring the board both on a professional and personal level. Validate that the finances of the association are handled in a proper way and ensure that all actions taken are according to the RoP and statutes. In order to achieve this, this years’ Oversight Committee consists of 4 amazing blondies who each have a lot of experience within EESTEC or outside of it.

ACOC 2018

Autumn Congress Organizing Committee: LC Budapest When our Board dismissed all pieces of warning advice and finally applied (and got accepted) for the position of ACOC 2018, we knew we’d jumped in deep water, but how deep it was, we could only imagine. But now, over a year later, after a successful Autumn Congress, we can surely say, that we learned to swim in those waters so proficiently, that even Michael Phelps would stand no chance! After the first few slow months, when the organization finally started to gain traction, the roles set, the OC set up and plans discussed, we started to truly believe that a relatively small LC like Budapest (9 people in the OC, 20 people altogether involved in the organization) could make EESTEC History and following the path Zagreb set, prove that organizing a Congress is not the privilege of only the strongest Commitments. After HUNdreds and HUNdreds of hours spent on the preparations, when HUNGRESS ’18 was finally happening, all the sleepless hours, all the sacrifices

21

ACOC 2018 the LC and the organizers had to make paid off tenfold: we had 100+50 EESTECers around for a week(end), who helped to keep EESTEC and its Spirit alive until the next Congress comes, and seeing them enjoying themselves in the process made each and every one of us organizers believe that it was meant to be and totally worth it! Thank you all for the wonDEERful memories!

SCOC 2019

Spring Congress Organizing Committee: LC Athens We are LC Athens, the Spring Congress Organizing Committee 2019. Our highly anticipated event is less than 2 weeks away and we couldn’t be more excited for what is coming! The experience of organizing this year’s Spring Congress has been nothing less than fun and constructive, thanks to the various gifts it has brought us. Firstly it gave us the opportunity to raise the international awareness among our members, especially those who occupy in the teams of Congress. We are confident that SC19 will trigger a new generation of BATCAMs from LC Athens. Additionally, and most importantly, such a big project as the Spring Congress attracted many new members and offered many spots in the OC to engage them from the very beginning of their EESTEC journey. Thus, not only we managed to provide more experienced members with a big challenge but also achieved to develop our newer members and find our new generation of leaders among them. Also, organizing such a demanding event led us to discover new event management methods that will definitely benefit us long-term. Last but not least, Spring Congress made us realize more than any other event that EESTEC is a playground and we have to enjoy the game! After each little disappointment

23

SCOC 2019 or problem, we managed to generate solutions that ultimately contributed to the boost of our confidence and knowledge. We could not be prouder of the decision we took just one year ago to organize this event!

Education Team

Education Team board members: Team Leader: Leonidas Avdelas Doctors Coordinator: Despina Fragkoulidou Angels Coordinator: Javier Anton Yuste The first thing everyone should know about Education Team is our vision: Providing a sustainable support system for all EESTEC Commitments by inspiring and empowering them to reach their full potential. We are one of the most crowded teams with - currently - 25 people working in 3 sub-Teams. Our subteams are: Angels, working with the newest Commitments of EESTEC. The team is currently responsible for a whopping number of 4 JLCs and 9 Observers. Their job is to keep them motivated, support them and mentor them into becoming Members (LCs). Doctors team is working with LCs that are working hard to improve but have faced struggles in recent times. They are also supporting the suspended LCs. Currently, there are 8 LCs working with Doctors. Experts, who are there to help LCs take their game a step further. The team consists of some of the most experienced people in the Association. When they

Education Team don’t have LCs to assist, they are working on creating knowledge and organize sessions open to the whole Association. Some of our biggest achievements this year are the Online Sessions we created for EC, the proposals for standards of promotion of Observers/JLCs we created, as well as IMVs, gathering all our guides, creating a Local Cooperations Guide, helping Regionalization with LRM content. In a more macroscopic scale, a lot of effort was and is going to be put on documenting our processes, in order to ensure that the future generation will have an easier time following them and focus on other problems. Lastly, we would like to thank every one of the Team’s members for their dedication to the vision, hard work and amazing resilience they showed even when a lot of problems came banging our doors.

IT Team IT Team board members: Team Leader: Alain Kohli Knowledge & Education Coordinator: Ghihanis Cristian-Alexandru Projects & eestec.net Coordinator: Michalis Fotiadis The IT Team is responsible for maintaining and improving the IT infrastructure of EESTEC, be it mails, eestec.net or other projects. It also promotes hard skills and IT knowledge within the Association. After many years of just keeping things running somehow, we managed to completely rebuild our infrastructure from scratch this year to vastly improve the maintainability, stability and security of our systems. The project to rebuild eestec.net from scratch has started this year as well, and we hope that the new version will ease the life of IT Team members as well as its users in the future. We are also responsible for numerous projects for Teams, Projects and Bodies of the Association. We have implemented and updated those projects according to their needs and will keep doing so. Last but not least, we are constantly trying to improve the hard skills and IT situation in the Association in general. We have contacted commitments to assess their IT needs and hope to provide assistance to them in the future in areas they might be struggling.

Corporate Relations Team Corporate Relations Team board members: Team Leader: Boban Poznanovic Team Coordinator: Kosmas Stefanopoulos Team Coordinator: Alexandros Michalopoulos Dear EESTECers, On behalf of the whole Corporate Relations Team, welcome to the special part of the Yearbook. We are glad to see you here, and we hope you will enjoy this short reflection on our Team. This year Corporate Relations Team gathered true enthusiast. Together, we are aiming to create a financially supportive environment for the development of everybody within the Association. The fun started in August when a new CR Team Board for this mandate was formed. The structure of the Team started taking new formation: Team Leader: Boban Poznanovic - LC Novi Sad Team Coordinator: Kosmas Stefanopoulos - LC Athens Team Coordinator: Alexandros Michalopoulos - LC Athens With a year ahead of the CR Team, reinforcement was to arrive. A new CR Team Members were selected and our big CRiminal Family was formed: Ajna Hodzic - LC Sarajevo Anisia Jovanovski - LC Belgrade Danijel Cuturic - LC Sarajevo Ece Bahar Yildirim - LC Ankara Elod Vizi - LC Budapest Ivana Komadina - LC Novi Sad Justyna Kulaga - LC Krakow Karolina Boduch - LC Krakow

Corporate Relations Team Mihai Alexandru Butnariu - LC Bucharest Nemanja Jovanovic - LC Belgrade Silvia Maddalena Rossi - JLC Milan And right now, before Spring Congress in Athens, we are expecting some new members to join our Family. So, you must be wondering what is this big Family doing? Well, we are working to attract new partners for EESTEC. With three sub-teams, we are researching and contacting different stakeholders. To help us be more efficient, we distributed different stakeholders among our three sub-teams: EECS Companies Sub-Team Barter Sub-Team Universities Sub-Team One special thing that is running inside of CR Team this year is Business Model Project. Together with other EESTECers that nurture business spirit, we have started a journey of understanding how business models function and how it can be adjusted for EESTECs future needs. By working on creating our own Business Model we learned a lot, and it helped us to better articulate EESTEC’s value in the market. But, when we are not in our suits and in the pursuit of new partners for EESTEC we enjoy to chill. Even our chill is delivered on the professional level while we try to bring some hope to humanity(and EESTEC) playing Card Against Humanity. In this game everything is official, so even the score after rounds is recorded. It seems that what we started could be contagious among other EESTECers, we will see how far it will spread in the future. Feel free to join us ;) Sharing knowledge and experience is in the foundation of our Family. This is why the CR Team was proud to organize the first CRedit, operational event oriented toward transferring the necessary knowledge for International Fundraising. For CRedit, CR Team Board prepared a week of session for participants and helped them understand what is behind all the work of International Fundraising Campaigns. The time in Hamburg was amazing and you could sense the money being made. Did some said CRedit 2.0? Well, before we reveal any of our top CRiminal secrets, we would like to share once more how awesome is our Family, and to promise you will have fun when we meet somewhere in Europe. Our Team’s purpose is to have a unified approach for matters that have to do with data, of course so that better and more structured decisions are taken. Some of our milestones include setting up the base of Data Team’s work, upgrading the Event Policy Paper, collecting all of the data of the Association, past and present, as well as making team specific tasks, which depend on each team (examples

Design Team

Design Team board members: Team Leader: Dragan Mitic Coordinator for Education: Nikolina Dunder Coordinator for Administrative Affairs: Kerim Redzepagic International EESTEC Design Team is the most creative team in our Association’s hierarchy. Design Team is responsible for generating attention-grabbing ideas, creating visual identities and educating EESTEC members. Members of this team work together to develop conceptual campaigns and designs that Commitments, Projects, and other Teams look for. Working in this Team is all about nurturing imagination and turning thoughts into the ideas that give our solutions the edge. That’s why we work on effective education Academies that offer EESTECers possibility to learn how to use multiple designing tools. This year we have created two modern Academies for Illustrator and Photoshop, that more than 200 EESTECers joined. Having our own event, the Design Sprint, is one of the things that make our Team pretty exclusive. After five Design Sprints organized in the past, our Association got renewed design-wise on local and international level, but also began

39

Design Team to work focused on the brand of it. This year the fifth Design Sprint was organized in cooperation with LC Ankara. In seven days 12 participants got officially transferred to being Unicorns! The next step in our development was creating The DesignHUB that connects EESTEC designers and form more bounded atmosphere for our community. Getting closer to the Commitments and organizing education trainings for Commitments’ representatives in Regionalization Project, so that EESTEC gets better social media coverage and design strategies, all around the Europe. Among other traditions, we have created a new one this year. That is having Unofficials Meetings/Parties each month. There is also a theme or topic for every party, where we have a certain way of clothing or special activities. The Pajama Party, COMMITMENTs party - show us your REDness!, Britney’s birthday Party, Unicorn STAR, and others achieved a whole new dimension of magic in our Team! Not to mention a record number of designs made in this mandate. Helping international Teams and Projects in creating stronger bonds among their members. From creating internal logos, to designing hoodies and T-shirts, we have helped many Leaders and Coordinators on their missions. Doing redesigns of operational events and creating new ones (Design Sprint, IT Sprint, CRedit, Brand.Comm) has given extra power to organizers. This year, the Design Team has become a partner on whom everyone can rely on. That was our main goal. And being even more magical, of course. Xoxo, #thinkunicorn

EESTech Challenge network. The technological topic of the competition changes annually, and choosing IoT was the first big challenge we as the EC Board were faced with at the beginning of our mandate. Since then we’ve been working hard on being in steady contact with the Local Rounds organizers, and we are happy that 16 Local Rounds were successfully held. We’ve also been in contact with the Final Round organizers and everything is almost ready for the upcoming competition in Munich in the last week of May. Our teams have also been working on trying to find international sponsors that would finance the competition, professors, and other people in the engineering world that could help with the tasks and the academic part, as well as spreading the word about the Challenge through innovative content on all of our social media channels. In the middle of our mandate the EC Board held a live meeting in Belgrade that helped us evaluate the work we had done up until then, plan for the second part of the year, but it also brought us closer and since then the atmosphere in the team has been what you imagine and hope for when joining EESTEC. Even though it’s been a busy year, we are proud of everything we have accomplished and happy to say we raised the bar high for generations to come. So, in every way, we are even more #ReadyForTheChallenge than when we started!

Grants International Project

Grants Project board members: Project Leader: Elvis Skozdopolj Coordinator of Research Team: Ivana Damnjanovic The Grants Project’s main goal is to help establish the foundations of EESTEC’s future financial sustainability by gaining the knowledge to write and apply to grants, as well as to research which grant opportunities exist, in Europe, that EESTEC would be well suited for. The board of the project consists of the Leaders and two Coordinators, each coordinating one Team inside the project: the Knowledge Team and Research Team. Although the Project had a very active and favorable start, during the mandate it encountered difficulties in the gathering of knowledge. Through the Project, we have applied for one grant, finalized parts of the grants guide, contacted Commitments, NGOs, and Alumni to gather knowledge, and researched grants opportunities in Europe. Until the end of the mandate, we hope to finalize the guide and present it to Commitments. Malgorzata Szulc, Ivana Damnjanovic, Eva Rogelj, Mirza Yildirim, Karolina

Soft Skills Academy Project Soft Skills Academy Project board members: Project Leader: Mariana Averkiadou Ambassadors Coordinator: Mert Yerekapan PR Coordinator: Enes Nuralp Foundation Year (as an official international team): 2017 Number of Members (18/19): 14 Website: https://ssa.eestec.net/#/ SSA Project: ssa[at]eestec[dot]net EESTEC Soft Skills Academy (SSA) is an international project organized by Electrical Engineering STudents’ European assoCiation (EESTEC). The project is formed to be divided in two parts: the international and the local part. The local part consists of EESTEC Commitments organizing events named SSA in different European cities. The international part is a team responsible for making sure the events are following standards and to facilitate the collaboration and communication between local events. SSA provides a unique opportunity for further development of ambitious students with assets of non-formal education. These assets, will be expected from them in their future working place. Every local event provides trainings in certain topics of soft skills (personal and social skills). These trainings are held by certified EESTEC trainers, HR representatives of companies and other experts in the field of soft skills. In the end, participants are provided with CV supplements. There is no participation fee and every SSA is open towards all students. This academic year, local SSAs will be held in 15 cities and more than a 1000 student will have a chance to work on their self-development. Timeline of local SSAs (18/19): October : Tuzla

Magazine Project Magazine Project board members: Project Leader: Maciek Zawilski Design Coordinator: Alena Delkic Content Coordinator: Emel Nisa i‡olakoglu PR Coordinator: Zoran Kabakci The Magazine Project is responsible for promoting and creating the Magazine, our biggest yearly publication, which promotes EESTEC’s technical side and our members’ interests in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science related topics. Each issue is published every Spring Congress and distributed among members of our Association. The team is divided into three sub-teams: - Content, responsible for creating articles for the Magazine, including searching for photos and spell-checking, - PR, responsible for promotion on social media, be it by posts, stories or articles, - Design, responsible for all design needs of the other two teams. In the mandate of 2018/2019, we had multiple achievements, including the creation of the Magazine Preview in Autumn, increased presence in social media (Knowledge Series), creation of a new logo and acquiring an ISSN number. What makes our team special is the environment - everyone’s opinion is welcomed and treasured, everyone can say whatever is on their mind. We love to share so much, we’ve made it our thing to send our favorite music after each meeting, with a different theme chosen during that meeting. We had a blast working together in the last year, bonding, experiencing and learning from each other each day. EESTEC International is the perfect environment to both grow personally and to meet new friends. Just keep exploring!

O.W.L. Project Online Powered Learning Project Leader: Paula Wesolowska The mission of this project is to support EESTEC Teams, Projects and individuals that are active internationally by educating them on topics needed to ensure proper support in their EESTEC journey. We are doing our best to provide online training sessions, suggestions, and recommendations to those who need or ask for them. This year, the team conducted several online training sessions for Leaders and Coordinators as well as for specific teams and BATCAMs who were preparing themselves for Spring Congress. The work of this team is still in the definition phase since it is only the first year of its work. So-called OWLs consist of 7 members and one Boardie responsible who is leading the team. Each and every member is truly special and makes the team OWLsome. Elena is always well prepared and wants to truly motivate BATCAMs, Alvaro is definitely the creative one with thousands of inputs, Ziga with grace makes sure that we are professional and efficient, Tunca is the positive spark that makes us smile and we all know how important it is in every team, Antek is truly inspiring and extremely enthusiastic and we learn this from him, Chris is the active one and he really makes us believe that there are people who love to be constantly busy, Stelios is certainly the funny one so our meetings are not too serious and Paula really believes in every team member and sees huge potential in them. Since the name of the Project is really lovable we blend it into our e-mails and simple words and that creates a special atmosphere - OWLways. The way the team operates is that each member uses their strong characteristics to elevate it, and it makes for a very dynamic environment in which everyone can show their personality and creativity to ensure unique sessions and experiences for participants. We as the OWL team strive to keep a balance between

International Awareness Team

International Awareness Team Coordinator: Simona Sutic The main activity of International Awareness Team is focusing on EESTEC awareness, activation, and motivation of our members. It is a new approach to previous years Internal PR Team. International Awareness Team job is to boost our energy and raise awareness among our members. The team mostly works on contributing to the transparency of our Association, the promotion of international activity and education of our members. During the year of 2018/2019, we have been working on creating fun and educational content for our Facebook group such as Meet the Commitment posts, EESTEC Files where we have presented each of the Teams, Projects and Board Assistants that work this year, and also posts about BATCAMs of the month in which we have included quotes and short texts about the importance of EESTEC to the BATCAMs. Another thing that we are doing on a weekly basis is preparing and sending Weekly News, a publication whose goal is to contribute to the transparency of our Association and to notify our members about all important

International Awareness Team happenings and activities in EESTEC. Besides regular content that we are preparing, International Awareness Team was in charge of organizing EESTEC Week, during which Commitments delivered IA sessions to their members and we have prepared some interesting facts and activities for our members, such as the quiz "What type of EESTECer are you?". Also, before Spring Congress, it is expected to publish EESTEC Awareness 101 publication, which will be a small guide to EESTEC for all of our members, especially the new ones. Also, we have been working on the promotion of Operational Events and Congresses, as well as on a lot of calls the Board has been sending. Of course, our work wouldn’t be possible without a lot of collaborations we are doing. Since International Awareness Team is a Departmental Team, most of our collaboration was with VC-IA, we had regular meetings and chats about all the activity in the Association. We have been collaborating with a lot of other Teams and Projects and without them, we wouldn’t be able to create as much content as we did.

Branding Manager Hello everyone, I am Idil from LC Istanbul and new Branding Manager of EESTEC. It has been 3 years my EESTEC journey started. From the beginning, EESTEC has a big part of my life. However, this year has a special place for me. Firstly what am I doing as EESTEC Branding Manager? Branding Managers will mainly work on creating the Branding guide, evaluate the regulations of Brand Policy Paper and creating a path for the clear identity of EESTEC itself. Being a Branding Manager was surprising at the beginning, with VC-EA you are responsible for the brand actually. Also, it is the first year of the Team, it is one of the things I am proud of. Creating a new Guide for EESTEC, the feeling that you realize you are contributing our association and our brand name, those are the other things from many reasons. I actually understand EESTEC much better than before. As you feel the same way EESTEC is a big part of our life, we need to protect and understand our name, voice, personality, and the promise EESTEC gives us. I am so happy that I managed to be a part of it somehow, I hope we helped you in that direction also. Finally, I’d like to thank the Board of the Association for gave me this chance, for the support, but especially I want to thank Ana, for her support, kindness, patient she had. Also the people I worked with during my position, I want to thank them for making this year much more easier for me!

Committee Information Manager - BA

Committee Information Manager: Borbala Borocz Committee Information Manager is the Board Assistant of the Administrative Affairs Department, so I am working closely with Dajana (VC-AA) during my mandate. The goal of my position is to gather information about all the Commitments of EESTEC, which means that I archive their event announcements, board changes, and other data which is important for the Board and EESTEC International. Applying rules, being familiar with RoP and Event Policy Paper are part of my duties, as I analyzed which LCs have to go through the suspension and termination procedure and checked if all the events and board changes are announced according to our regulations. I participated in the evaluation of Final and Half Year Status Reports, and collected information for the second edition of the Event Planning Report, where EESTECers can see which events are going to happen during the whole year. This position gave me the opportunity to get

Committee Information Manager - BA to know the Commitments better, understand their similarities and differences, getting familiar with their local level and see the big picture of EESTEC through the data I was working with. It is a valuable experience and a lot of fun to see what is happening around in our Association.

Ambassadors Team

EESTEC Ambassadors: Sebastian Skoczen Eva Burja In the past few years, the relations between Non-Governmental Organisations rapidly warmed up. European students shifted from competing with each other to supporting each other’s efforts, share the knowledge and begin the collaboration on a much bigger scale than ever before. This transition was recognised by our Association and the urge of creating a team that would reply to those new external needs has emerged. The team that would allow EESTEC to fully profit from this favourable environment. That’s how the Ambassadors were created in August 2017. The Ambassadors are the official EESTEC representatives and Board Assistants that are supporting Vice Chairwoman of External Affairs in fostering and

Ambassadors Team maintaining good relations with other NGOs. Among the responsibilities of Ambassadors there are 5 most important ones: 1. Initiating contact with potential partner organisations. 2. Keeping up good relations with them. 3. Supporting knowledge transfer. 4. Connecting EESTECers with external parties. 5. Empowering the collaboration on mutual projects. All of the above-mentioned points are included in Ambassadors initial statement of purpose: "Create and maintain the good relations with other NGOs by attending the events organized by previously mentioned and transferring the gained knowledge to EESTEC." The most important thing Ambassadors do is that they always strive for good collaborations with other NGOs, where both sides are satisfied. They are taking care of the knowledge transfer that is ongoing between them and sharing calls for events where official external parties are invited. Talking about events, Ambassadors have been super active this year. Going on other NGO events where they presented EESTEC in its best way and gathered as much knowledge as possible of how other events are organized. 1. BEST Events a. Summer IPF Skopje b. Regional Meeting Naples c. Presidents Meeting France d. Winter IPF Ghent e. Regional Meeting Ljubljana f. Regional Meeting Belgrade g. General Assembly Krakow 2. ESTIEM Events a. Council Meeting Warsaw b. ESTIEM College Ankara c. Council Meeting Tampere 3. IFISO Meetings a. IFISO Istanbul 4. IAESTE Events a. Connect Conference Glasgow

Ambassadors Team Also, we invited NGOs that we are collaborating with closely, BEST and ESTIEM, to a our Live Regional Meetings, EESTech Challenge Final Round and Spring Congress. In the end, what do we get from these collaborations? We can learn a lot from other NGOs, that sometimes do the same thing but in a different and more efficient way or they tried something and it didn’t work out, which we can bring to EESTEC and the other way around. Also, we’ve been exchanging trainers for several years now and many Commitments have been successfully cooperating and organizing events with different organizations locally. The effect of those collaborations will be even more visible in time, so why not continue and spread our horizons even more.

Legal Advisory Project Legal Advisory Project Leader: Philipp Butschle The Legal Advisory Project aims to facilitate the work on our legal documents and thus the improvement of the legal aspects of our Association. The project’s members are there to aid and advice others in their work on legal documents but also to brainstorm/work on/implement changes themselves. The project is organized in two subteams: Law and Order consists of Dutch-speaking individuals with a background in legal work. As the Association is registered in the Netherlands, the original language of our Statutes is Dutch. Also, all of our activity has to comply with the Dutch law, so it is necessary for Dutch-speaking members to be involved. Legal Experts consists of EESTECers who have experience in legal work on the international level or were actively participating during discussions on legal proposals. The main purpose of their work is to actively think about changes, their impact and implementation plans. If you have questions please contact the Treasurer, Philipp Butschle, treasurer@eestec.net.

About JLC Aveiro Regional Meeting: Definitely Not Another Latina Meeting From March, 6th 2019 to March, 11th 2019 Participants’ report I want to start my report talking about some "technical" stuff. We had two hot meals per day, the portion was more than sufficent ( I never finish my meals, it was really a lot of food me ), one participant was vegetarian and he always had a properly meals. We had a huge breakfast too with tea, toast, ham and juice. We had also a lot of snack: coffe, biscuits, sandiwches! Everythings perfect manage. Everybody spoke in english all the time. It’s the first time that I see Latina people speak in english each others. The OC used the mother language in few moment for very urgent organization stuff. The accomodation was really really great. It was my first time in an hostel and I was a bit scared but at the end I didn’t have any problem. The toilet was always clean, the room was appropriate, I had clean blankets and towel and the receptionist was really polite. The OC organized a really funny parties, the first night I didn’t join party, I was really tired because of the trip but the others participants told me that it was really great. The party that I appreciated the most was the barbecue. I liked it because the atmosphere was really relaxed and this gave us the opportunity to talk and bond. We played some games during this party and we met some members from the JLC. Obviously, I really appreciate the International night too! Completely well organized, and they gave us time to cook everything and to buy some stuff for it! I would like to say a huge thank you to the guys that has the patience to carry me two time at the mall for buy stuff! The city rally was nice, but my team had some problem and we didn’t finish it. Now I should like to say a few word about this lovely JLC.

JLC Aveiro In general I really liked this event, totally well organized and managed it. We arrived by car in the university and they waiting for us in their office. The OC, and all the other member, was always super friendly and kind. They take care about every single detail. We really bonding, and I consider us as a huge family. The training was great, both of that, it was really cool have a trainer from Best and the little participation in the Estiem event was really nice. The OC was attentive, kind and really funny! They provided us beer for less than 1euro, they spend a lot of time with us, they solved all our trouble and they considered us as lifelong friends. The other members participated actively in both training and party, everybody has made us feel right home. I would to recommend the next event organized by this JLC to all my friend, because Aveiro is really nice city, with his channel with the typical boat and the historical monuments and big parks. We didn’t have time enough for see the ocean and the typical house. Of course I recommend it also for the people who made really adorable this future LC.

Organisers’ report The LRM of region2 was organized by us and the region 2 coordinator. The objective of this event is to unite geographicly close commitments as well as give them tools to improve themselves and their coommitments. During these days we had several trainings sessions, working sessions, round tables and of course bonding moments that were memorable. The atmosphere of the whole event was really good and I think that the different participants and the OC were really able to bond and develop really good work. Lots of ideas came out of this gathering and now we are trying to implement them, like we did with the videos were we expose the weekly news on youtube. The general feeling was therefore very good and I think it was good to show some of our new members how EESTEC events work and to make them get a little hint of the EESTEC spirit lived in events.

About JLC Catania EESTEC JLC Catania is a local committee established in late 2013. We are students of Computer Science and Electrical, Computer and Automation Engineering. We gather all the engineering students who look for an improvement in the experience offered by our own university and that want to be more active learners. We want to keep growing fast and strong. We strive to create a challenging and exciting place where to improve ourselves together, in a pure EESTEC spirit, and to be a solid reality in our own University Our aim is filling the gap between University and employment improving softskills, technical knowledge and practical know-how. As of January 2016 we’ve organised about 9 local events about Software Programming, MCU Programming and promoting. Our JLC is constantly evolving and looking for new and fresh people who look for more from their studies and that want to meet friends from all over Europe. Editor Note —————As History Collectors Team, we thank JLC Catania for its contribution and hard work for EESTEC family. Unfortunately, JLC Catania has decided to leave our network as a result of lack of interest and commitment from their members’ side and lack of prospects for further operation. Under these circumstances, we hereby inform you that JLC Catania, unfortunately, is no longer a part of EESTEC family. (April, 2019)

JLC Milan

About JLC Milan Born in November 2016, EESTEC JLC Milan (or MESA, as we are called locally) is a Commitment with a strong determination to improve and grow that never stopped and never will. Started with a very few students, we have now 29 members (and the number keeps growing), 5 of them involved in important International Teams. Throughout the whole year, we organized local events and workshops held by our members and professors of our University to spread the EESTEC Spirit and Knowledge: we successfully organized two EESTech Challenge Local Rounds, one workshop about JavaScript, two about Python and one about Arduino basics. We are also organizing an event to raise awareness about Women in STEM, a cycle of conferences about Start-Ups and an entire week of workshops and conferences about Videogame programming. In October we also had our first IMW, "Taci Foeugh!": we went to Monferrato, the UNESCO heritage Piedmont countryside, to visit castles, taste some good wine and some typical Italian food. Probably, we will organize it this year too and, trust me, you really don’t want to miss it! We try to be something different from the daily routine, a place where every student can feel at home, learn new things, work with other people and travel all around Europe. We believe a lot in the values of the Association, a cooperation between equal members, and we try to share our ideas among all the students not only of Politecnico, but also of all the "scientific" universities of Milan. Our local motto is, in fact, "Share the Knowledge". Our current aim is to grow bigger, both locally and internationally, and to introduce all the students to our restless and highly enthusiastic way of facing life.

JLC Milan What will happen next? An International workshop? SSA? Congress? Who knows, but be sure that it will be magical.

Taci Foeugh! From October, 5th 2018 to October, 7th 2018 Participants’ report One possibly couldn’t imagine a more perfect way to spend this autumn weekend: in lovely scenery, heavenly food and amazing people. It was sensible that organizers put their heart and soul into this event, and participants really enjoyed their time. It was a great opportunity to meet old friends and to make new ones. The accommodation was a rustic villa, hidden in the peaceful hills of Piedmont region. It instantly felt like home, and the organizers took the best care of participants - cooking home-made meals (oh my god, that lasagna!), looking out for our every wish, and lifting the spirits during the parties. And as peaceful the location was during the day, as wild the parties got during the night - I’m talking shirts dropping the floor! And when we wanted to calm down a bit, we sang songs under the starry night with a guitar. On Saturday we got a taste of history during the wine-tasting in the nearby castle, which has been producing quality wines for centuries, and we could get lost and found in the hedge labyrinth. After that, our trainers Milica and Ana delivered an insightful and well-designed training on project management, while organizers were already preparing for the International Night. While IN is a rather rare bird on IMWs, it was definitely a great choice. If you got the chance to visit the next JLC Milan event, do not miss out on it, because you will regret! Overall, this event was a spectacular experience, easily in the same notch as "classic" events from older LCs - this is a sign that new blood is just as powerful! Maybe this event will set a new yearly tradition? Let’s hope so!

Organisers’ report Yearbook 2018-2019

85

JLC Milan "Taci Foeugh!" was our first official IMW and, as such, our whole JLC actively contributed to the organization of what would be our grand entrance in a new phase of our Commitment. "Taci Foeugh!" took place in Piedmont in a characteristical "Cascina" immersed in the breath-taking landscape of Monferrato, the land of Piedmontese wine. Many participants took a leap and reached Milan from all over Eastern and Western Europe, carrying delicacies of all kinds with them, and played their part in shaping a sensational International Night and a voicestealing Musical themed night. Knowing Murphy’s law well, we knew we should have expected some obstacles on our way and, indeed, this is what happened: due to a marathon, part of our train route back to Milan was closed. A few moments of utter panic were immediately followed by a short brainstorming and luckily all of the participants made it home on time. Despite this minor issue, we are incredibly proud of the outcome of this event and can’t wait to organize a second edition!

LC Aachen

About LC Aachen We are one of the elder Local Committees and one of the foundation members of EESTEC in 1986. Our members are students of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the RWTH Aachen University and of the University of Applied Sciences Aachen. EESTEC Aachen is a working group of the Electrical Engineering Student Association of the RWTH Aachen. We have a cooperation with the IEEE Student Branch Aachen especially concerning one day excursions. Regularly we organize the Aachen - St. Petersburg/Moscow Exchange in summer and we will try to keep this tradition. We organise a lot of local events like excursions to companies and research institutes to get a wider recognition among our students.

European Future Power System - Vision and Reality From November, 18th 2018 to November, 24th 2018 Participants’ report Recently I had a wonderful opportunity to be a participant of EESTEC LC Aachen workshop named "European Future Power System - Vision and Reality". The topic of the workshop really goes along with my studies, and I was quite surprised at how much I have

LC Aachen learned and seen in just one week. Academic part was brilliant and dynamic. Apart from amazing lectures, we had the opportunity to work in groups and to create a presentation about electro energetic systems in the country we chose, based on the knowledge from lectures we had. Such activity not only made us rethink everything we knew before and everything we learned at the workshop, but also teamwork meant making friendships that will hopefully last longer. LC Aachen also organized visits to their university’s research centers where we could take a look at some of the most advanced technical wonders used in power engineering, for testing and research. We also visited the lignite power plant and had the opportunity to see and learn about the process of power generation from the field. It was significant to connect books with real work. Aachen is a wonderful small city located in the north of Germany. Perhaps the weather is cold, but the hearts of people are always warm. Just standing and walking through the city centre has such an amazing vibe. This was my first time to visit it but definitely not last. Last but not least, the amazing EESTEC spirit of LC Aachen blew my mind. From original ice-breaking games to get to know each other up until crazy and wild parties, everything was perfect. Organizers made sure we have everything we need and the organization was top-notch. From high-quality academic part to countless parties, the week in Aachen was fantastic (and sleepless). LC Aachen event is definitely a place to go! If you travel there alone as I did, you will get back home with amazing memories and many new friends.

LC Ankara

About LC Ankara EESTEC LC Ankara, is founded on 2006 as the first Local Committee of EESTEC in Asia. Even though it is a relatively young LC, with more than 200 members and successful events, EESTEC LC Ankara is one of the most successful local committees through the Europe. In 11 years, EESTEC LC Ankara hosted over 150 European students for 15 international events, 13 of which just for EESTEC members, and more than 150 students from Ankara are given the opportunity to attend international workshops. Moreover, local events in different scopes are started to be organized by LC Ankara, in order to present career, education and development opportunities to its members.

#occupyMarmaris 6 Days War From August, 30th 2018 to September, 5th 2018 Participants’ report Hey guys, My name is Andrea and I was a participant at this years occupy Marmaris 6. The main motivation for applying for this event was the stories I heard about it. And may I say, I’ve hired a lot! So basically I thought that I was prepared for it and I knew what was waiting there. Boy was I wrong... First of all I would like to note that I’m an EESTECer for 4 and a half years and have participated and organized a lot of events of every type. But this one, this

LC Ankara left a mark in my heart. <3 The organizers manage to exceed my expectations in every aspect. Food, accommodation, parties, activities, all of them. I mean come on, we where staying in a hotel with a pool and a pool slide... Everyday there where different plans for the whole day. Aqua parks, beaches, boat crossing, jeep riding in the desert, waterfalls, pool parties, massages... And don’t get me started on the night parties, games and the belly dancers. Had a fantastic time! The food was so delicious. They shared with us their traditions and cousins and everyday they had something different. Don’t want to write more, because what ever happened in Marmaris stays in Marmaris. ;) Just want to tell to whoever is reading this, if you still haven’t applied to LC Ankaras events, what are you waiting for?? Love, Andrea Angelova, LC Skopje

Organisers’ report Between 30th August- 5th September, our traditional exchange #occupyMarmaris 6 Days Water War was held in Marmaris for the 6th time! 11 officials and over 20 unofficial participants from different commitments participated in this event. It is very hard to express our happiness and feelings while we were taking care of all of them during these 6 days. Various daytime activities are arranged for each day, such as, aquapark, beaches, a boat tour which we swam in 5 different bays, a safari tour which we climbed up the mountains with jeeps and started our water war. The nights were incredible! We tried not to disappoint any participants regarding the parties and music. Every evening we turned the night into day in a different club in the famous bar street of the Marmaris. In the end of the week, it was so nice to see how people connected to eachother, how they satisfied and glad to participate in this event

Work Hard Play Smart From February, 16th 2019 to February, 22nd 2019 Participants’ report My thoughts on Work Hard Play Smart HiJ. I was a participant at the Work Hard Play Smart workshop which took place this february in Ankara. Because of this experience I believe that my whole perspective of the word " international" changed. So, I believe that I would need to thank LC Ankara as now I became more interested in the events that are taking place in EESTEC. The workshop for me started as a fun and intriguing event as it was my first one ever. I didn’t think much of the outcome of going there and learning, so I couldn’t believe that this experience would change me so much. Firstly, it was a great opportunity for me to get to know EESTECers outside my LC and to befriend them. I formed friendships that I believe are going to be long-lasted with trust-worthy people that proved to be eager to help me whenever I need them. Secondly, the activities and the curriculum were amazing, I loved every party and teambuilding i went through. Especially the campus treasurehunt which forced us into creating a stronger bond faster so we could win the race! The karaoke night was really special to me as we all got the occasion to sing our traditional songs from our countries but also show unity. When talking about the workshop, I really liked learning to code and create old computer games. I felt somewhat intrigued of how easy it is to create our favorite 2D games. I want to say that we really liked our second to last teacher ( the woman whose name I don’t remember) because she would really stay with us and try to explain when we wouldn’t understand something. It was really tiring to see the constant change of teachers because we would jump from a code to another one ( and a style of coding). The most memorable thing from the whole experience would be the people! I felt like I was in a second home there. Everyone was so united and I felt really welcomed and free to be me. I also noticed how well organised they could be. They really took care of us in the best way possible and for that I can only thank them ! ? Good job LC Ankara, keep it up.

Organisers’ report Our latest workshop "Work Hard Play Smart" took place between 16th-22th of February. We spent a week full of EESTEC spirit ,lectures , sessions, workshops about mobile game programming. We were so lucky with the participants, they were all so unique and full of joy. There were 2 events at the same time as you know the workshop and 5th Design Sprint. This was a great opportunity for both events participants to meet more people ,various cultures, have more fun and feel the EESTEC spirit. Apart from the academic part, our participants had a change to enjoy our lovely capital, visit Ataturk’s Mausoleum and historical places such as Ankara Castle and Hamamonu. If we want to mention about the entertaining parts, they had a blast in different nightclubs with various themed parties. They had a chance to broke a pinata at Mexican Theme Party, enjoy different cultures and cuisines at International Night, compete at Karaoke Night, get deep dive into the Turkish music, meals and dance with a belly dancer at Turkish Night and after this fun, some tears for goodbyes came out at Farewell Night..

5th Design Sprint From February, 16th 2019 to February, 22nd 2019 Participants’ report I attended LC Ankara’s operational event this February. Event was held from 16th to 22nd and to quickly summarize it was one of the best days in my life. As my group from Serbia didn’t have a direct flight to Ankara, we needed to go through Istanbul first, so by the time we arrived we were all very tired, but as soon as we got out of the bus in the center of Ankara, warm and smiling faces of our hosts waited for us. From the first moment everything was spot on and by the time we arrived at the hostel we already had a chance to meet our amazing hosts. Hostel itself was one of the best I’ve ever been in, and I’ve been in hostels from London to Istanbul, so this says a lot coming from me. I was mesmerized each day more and more by the things I saw, including the people, university campus, organization and so on. Not to mention food which was stunning pretty much for every meal. I was very pleasantly surprised when we got our breakfasts in bed, and even though it made me feel very lazy I still enjoyed it. Lectures were held in very comfortable classrooms where we had all the necessary stuff to work, including but not limited to: stable wi-fi, power outlets, snacks and awesome company. In that segment I really have nothing even remotely bad to say even if I wanted to. People of LC Ankara were so welcoming, so warm and so sweet that I can’t wait to go back to Ankara and see them all again! I think that facts speak louder then words, so I’ll just say I started learning Turkish, and I’m seriously considering coming to Ankara for my masters degree or for an internship of some kind in couple of years! Whole city really amazed me, and the local culture, mentality and generally the feeling that you get when you walk through the Kizilay is to say the least breathtaking! 10/10 would go again and again! Organisers’ report After a long absense of organizing an operational event in Ankara, we broke our shell with the best of the best! "5th Design Sprint" took place between 16th-22th of February in Ankara. Thanks to incredible Design Team Board’s magic, our newborn Unicorns had a chance to listen quality lectures about graphic design, share many ideas, boost their creativity and work on specific tasks. End of the week, they presented their own designs &creations. We bonded so much and became a huge family with all of them during the week. Apart from the academic part, our participants had a change to enjoy our lovely capital, solve fun tasks in City Rally, Campus Marathon and visit Ataturk’s Mausoleum. About LC Antwerp In 2016, we organized our third international event called ’AntwerPi 2.0’, which was a huge success. Our (unplanned) motivational weekend attracted a lot of attention from surrounding LCs! We’re continuing our other activities such as lunch lectures and a system for student jobs in IT companies. We’re continuing to grow, and this year our board was almost completely renewed. We’re also in the process of spreading to another institution (KdG) and upgrading our website to provide better info on what we offer to our members.

LC Athens

About LC Athens LC Athens was founded in 2004 by a handful of students in the National Technical University of Athens. Athens became officially an EESTEC Local Committee in Congress 2005 in Madrid. During these eleven years, more than 900 members have joined our local committee, and the number is still increasing. At this point, we have around 100 active members, willing to help our LC make a step further. Having organized nine successful international workshops, with more than 460 participants from all over Europe, LC Athens deserves the title of "must go" EESTEC LC. We are, also, very active in our faculty, organizing many interesting local activities, not only for our members, but also for the rest of the students. In this way, a lot of students gain interest in EESTEC, and we keep on spreading around the "EESTEC Spirit"!

Greece Me Up 6 ...on the beach! From July, 22nd 2018 to July, 28th 2018 Participants’ report When arriving to Athens, I have expected the weather to be particularly warm. But who would have thought, that the hearts of people there will be even warmer? Greece Me Up 6 was an amazing experience for all of us. The week consisted of chill time at the beach, activities at the camping and, of course, a crazy city rally which included a naked haka in the see of the famous Antiparos nudist beach. Most of the parties ended up at the beach where we played the guitar until early

LC Athens in the morning, watching the beautiful sunrise in the process. The bravest ones continued partying in the famous La Luna disco, which was situated right next to the camping, following the tunes of 60’s-80’s pop music, and went to the tents as late (or early) as 7am! The week included a Greek night in which we learnt how to dance traditional greek dances and ate greek food, as well as treasure hunt and an international night to remember! All in all GMU6 was a fantastic opportunity for all of us to come together and have fun, and the memories of it will stay with us long enough so that we can reminisce the amazing time we had in Antiparos.

Organisers’ report Last summer, it was the 6th edition of the famous LC Athens event, Greece Me Up, where 77 EESTECers from more than 15 LC’s, joined in for a week-long adventure in the beautiful island of Antiparos. After taking the morning ferry to Paros on the 22nd of July, and then another one to Antiparos, we arrived at the camping ready to have an incredible time on the island, and that’s exactly what we did. We would chill on the beach playing volleyball and drinking cold beer under the hot greek sun, until the evening where everyone would retreat back to their tents and get ready for a crazy night of partying. Each day had different activities for the participants to have fun, including a treasure hunt, a greek night featuring traditional greek food, music and dances, our renowned island rally and, of course, the infamous international night! On the fourth night of the event, we had the pleasure to go to a concert which was held on the camping grounds and relax before having another amazing night

LC Athens of partying, which typically lasted until dawn. Afterwards, some brave participants would go on to continue dancing at "La Luna", a local disco which opens up at 4 a.m.(!), and go for an early swim afterwards to watch the breathtaking sunrise on the beach. A few others would stay on the beach and play the guitar under the sounds of the waves crashing on their feet. The experience of being on the island was unlike any other, and surely it’s a week that it’s gonna be difficult to forget. And if some do forget, there are plenty of pictures to remind them of one of the best weeks of their lives.

1st Anual International Meeting From July, 15th 2018 to July, 21st 2018 Participants’ report Firsts are always hard, you don’t know what to expect and how to be sure you are ready. But, first times are always remembered no matter if they are good or bad so I didn’t hesitate and applied to try and propose solutions for problems that are bothering us as an organization. *SPOILER* - best decision ever. The event started and things started to fall in place, a lot of familiar faces started to show up and a lot of new faces that I couldn’t wait to meet. Working sessions started and magic started to happen. All of us had an amazing motivation and rush to give as many inputs and feedback as we could. Session by session each and every single one of us opened more and more and we were running out of flip charts from all those ideas. I think OC contributed to our productivity with all the amazing snacks, juices, and coffee that they prepared for us to take while working and also created a place to relax and made a hanging out spot in front of the classrooms for a quick break and brain relaxing. While talking about food, a very important part for me (next to sleep), IT WAS AWESOME! Every single lunch and dinner were proper meals, very tasty and filling. I love meat and this was one of my highlights from the event - unlimited amount of really really good food. After a great meal, we always had time to take a nap and in my opinion, this was a very good way to quickly gather some more energy and continue to change the future of EESTEC. In the evenings I couldn’t sometimes remember what we discussed first thing in the morning because so many information was taken in by our brains and that just shows how much work we did without sometimes being aware. After checkout and quick refresh in our rooms, we headed out for drinks. I sincerely enjoyed the company of all the great people who were a part of this event. Weird thing is that I felt productive even while drinking beer with some discussions spontaneously being raised while talking casually. After the event, not to be cringe, I couldn’t have wished for a better combination of participants, facilitators, and OC, we made great progress and enjoyed our time together. Only thing I would change from the event is to turn down the

Organisers’ report The 1st Annual International Meeting was a newfound experience for all of us in LC Athens. Having the opportunity to organize a new Operational Event definitely had its challenges, yet nothing that couldn’t be overcome with good communication and motivation. AIM’s goal was to strengthen our Association’s international level, in order to bring us one step further towards achieving our mission. Being among so many motivated and active EESTECers from all around Europe, people who are trying to contribute to EESTEC in every way possible, was such a rejuvenating experience. An experience that nurtured our sense of belonging. A call to action, showing us, that people who want to help EESTEC will always find a way to. For 1 week, we witnessed people from different backgrounds and ways of thinking to work side by side in order to serve a greater purpose.

LC Banja Luka

About LC Banja Luka The local committee of Banja Luka has been accepted for a full membership on EESTEC congress in Belgrade, in April 2004. In June 2004 Local committee was registered in Banja Luka court as a non-profit, student’s organization with headquarters at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Patre 5, Banja Luka. Year in year out we organized many activities with the goal of popularizing student volunteering and gathering more members. By participating in the Local committee, EE students are gathering organizational skills, valuable in the later professional career. Through 14 years of work we helped 120 students of Electrical engineering in Banja Luka to participate in some of the EESTEC events and hosted more than 100 students from all over Europe! In April 2012, the Local committee organized our first Soft Skills Academy for 30 students of Banja Luka University. Students were able to work on the development of their personal and professional skills necessary for pursuing a successful career in their respective field. After getting great feedback on our first Soft Skills Academy, we continued this tradition and in 2018. we will be hosting the sixth annual Soft Skills Academy, now a trademark of our Committee. The event we are most proud of is the 9th EESTEC Chairpersons’ Meeting, organized in 2014. The Advanced Skills Workshop we organized in April 2018, The App Times, strengthened our connections with other Committees and motivated us to work even harder on reaching our goal - improving the informal education of the students of our Faculty and connecting them with EESTECers all over Europe!

The App Times From March, 26th 2018 to March, 31st 2018 Participants’ report I arrived in Banja Luka not knowing what to expect. I didn’t know anyone, I arrived on Monday morning and I was greeted in the bus station from local members who then helped me get around the city and guided me to the hostel and the faculty afterwards. Right away, I was amazed by how professional the lecturers were. During the first day, we were introduced to basic guidelines of Android TV development and although I missed some of the beginning, we were first introduced on how basic Android TV apps look/should look from the user point of view and what tips and tricks are common among most popular TV nowadays. After that, we had a lecture about the more technical side of the TV app and tried to understand how it works. On the second day of the workshop, we learned together about a bit more of the technical side (Rest API’s) and were divided into groups of 4 people, and actually started development of the app itself and continued it over the next 3 days. What surprised me, was how proficient in Android TV/Java development my team members were, despite most of them not having any real-world work experience in this area. This made me think that the level of education in Balkans is quite high and universities are working really hard on providing valuable knowledge for students, which would really come in handy for potential future work. So to sum up the course - basic guidelines were provided, very professional lecturers, who gladly answered any questions, and students, who already had some knowledge and were willing to learn more.

LC Belgrade

About LC Belgrade LC Belgrade became an official Member of EESTEC at the Congress in London in 2000, and nowadays is one of the largest and the best organized Local Committees in Europe. Throughout 18 years of our existence, over 1000 students of the School of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade have participated in numerous workshops, exchanges and professional seminars in cities across Europe. Since the establishment of our LC, we have organized over 100 local and international projects that have been encouraging personal and professional development of EECS students. With more than 200 members and more than 5 annual projects, we strive to create opportunities for the future development of our students and our Association. How do we do it? We organize numerous local projects for the students of our University, such as "JobFair - Kreiraj svoju buducnost" that has been annually organized for the last 13 years, with the aim to prepare young people for their future career by providing various opportunities such as internships, employment and the direct contact with over 50 companies. Another significant project of ours is "Brand New Engineers - Od integrala do inzenjera", that strives to provide the academical knowledge and insights in popular Engineering topics, with the help of our Faculty’s professors. We are especially proud of our project "Soft Skills Academy" which has been organized every year since 2010 and was later taken as an International project of EESTEC. When it comes to international events, we have recently organized the anniversary 30th Congress in 2016, which was followed by the 1st Autumn Congress

116

LC Belgrade in the same year. In May 2017, we organized the third edition of exchange "Belgrade State of Mind". Since 2016, we have taken part in organizing the regional project PLC+ SIM(P)ATIC Challenge, together with LC Zagreb and LC Ljubljana. Everything we do is with belief in outstanding individuals and with the aim to motivate students to work on their self-improvement and discovering, thus contributing to the University community in our country. We are proud to be a part of this Association that provides young people with a new perspective in life, technology, engineering, communications, travel, new experiences, new friends and successful projects. What we get through volunteering in our Local Committee are professional skills, discovering ourselves and others through local and international projects, and as the greatest gift of all, the inevitable happiness of having a great number of outstanding individuals as friends in the whole Europe.

Belgrade Spy Agency From December, 9th 2018 to December, 14th 2018 Participants’ report Every December has something special - but December of 2018 was truly one of a kind. LC Belgrade once again organised an event full of joy and happiness that everyone will remember for a long time. Our unforgettable week began on Sunday when all of the participants arrived, not being fully aware of how an awesome time they’ll experience in the next seven days. Just as the event started, the amazing LC Belgrade people were always there to hang out with us and introduce us to this beautiful city. Monday morning came around and it was time for the academic part to start. Even the walks to the faculty were so interesting (and how couldn’t they when you’re surrounded by the beautiful architecture of Belgrade?). Having the opportunity to listen and learn about Arduino is something I’m really thankful for. Every minute of the academic part was extremely entertaining and worth listening to. Like real agents, we were also taught about body language and how to tell when someone is lying - in a very interesting Soft Skills training.

LC Belgrade As the week went by, we had more and more activities we attended. The main one I think we all enjoyed was sightseeing, where we really enjoyed every second of being in Belgrade. Right after we got to experience a real escape room where we got to be true detectives. Also, one of the activities that we as the participants were surprised is paintball. We had so much fun that the whole hour felt like a minute. Just as we finished with paintball, and thought that day couldn’t get any better - we were proven so wrong. The Serbian night was a night full of laughter, good food and better friends. The parties that were hosted during the event were something really special. Starting off with the International night that was nothing less than magical, where we hung out with the rest of the Belgrade people. And I really must mention the 2 parties at the IMW which were out of this world. The time and effort the OC put to organized there parties is what amazed us all. I can honestly say these were one of the best parties I’ve ever been to. As the workshop was coming to an end - an epic IMW was starting. With even more awesome people arriving the activities such as the room crawl and city really couldn’t be something you would forget so soon. I’m honestly so happy & honored that I got to experience my first workshop in Belgrade. This whole week felt like it lasted for a couple of minutes. I guess time really goes fast when you’re with some really dear people in a very special city. Mak Fisic, LC Sarajevo

Organisers’ report We had the opportunity to take the EESTEC spirit to a whole new level during our events, #BelgradeSpyAgency and #BelgradeSpyParty! Our recruits came to Belgrade hungry for knowledge and good times and left with a huge smile on their faces as fully fledged agents having finished our program. Our academic lessons taught them to utilize the power of Arduino and how to read body language. Our activities took them to escape rooms that tested their wits, they sharpened their combat skills during an all-out paintball battle and they tested their limits with some seriously crazy drinking games!

LC Belgrade They got to know the beauty of Belgrade through many sightseeing tours, they saw the museum of one of the greatest masterminds in human history - Nikola Tesla, they felt the hospitality and culture of their hosts with a beautiful Serbian night where we took them for a spin on the traditional Bajaga train and felt the EESTEC spirit through the classic International Night where they got to know our local senior agents. Then the weekend came and our newly graduated agents had to apply the new skills they had gained in the following 48 hours of sheer insanity. A City Rally after what is probably one of the most intense snowfalls in the city’s recent history to really test their endurance? No problem, it’s not called the White City for nothing! We had parties that echoed into the night and even the morning hours and they had to survive a Room Crawl with several spy rooms that took their newly acquired skills and used them in new and interesting ways. Let’s just say things got craaazyyy. But they’ve done it. They’ve done it all. They came as recruits ready for action and left as fully fledged agents fueled by a week of a magical experience that will stay with them for a long time. Even our international senior agents were not prepared for what we had in store for them. Overall, that is what it is all about. Energizing people, giving them an experience from which they will grow and enrich themselves and creating memories with some of the most amazing people you will get to meet that you will treasure for the remainder of your youth and beyond. Love, Organizing Committee

LC Bucharest

About LC Bucharest

We have been part of EESTEC’s family for several years, precisely since the Congress in Cosenza, which was organized between the 9th and the 16th of April 2003. EESTEC LC Bucharest activates in the Politehnica University of Bucharest, thus placing itself in the ideal environment for accomplishing its academic goals. Our mission is to help students build a better future. In order for us to do that, we organize local workshops and conferences, as well as international workshops and exchanges. The events are based on personal and professional development. Our workshops are centered on specific subjects: electrical engineering, information technology, renewable energies, computer programming, and embedded technologies. Also, we organize motivational weekends for our guests, where we have a good time and get to know each other better. Our latest event was organized in April 2019 and it was called "The UNTOLD story of Bucharest". LC Bucharest is very active locally, ranging from contests and soft skills trainings to conferences and charitable parties. The most popular ones are EESTEC Olympics(9 editions) and Soft Skills Academy(5 editions). Last but not least, each year we organize ICE (Inner Circle of EESTEC), which is a 3 days training, designed for new members. Stay tuned for the "What?", "When?" and "Where?" of our future events ;)

de < cake > IT From May, 11th 2018 to May, 13th 2018 Participants’ report Aleksandra Pawelek, LC Krakow "The country which is often underrated by some, surprised me a lot. My other polish friend and me were hosted very well by LC Bucharest members who spent the whole week with us and took care of all the things we could possibly need trying to make this weekend unforgettable for us. During 8 days that we spent in Romania we got the chance to visit it’s capital city, experience the fun activities of it’s students and meet loads of amazing people from various places around Europe. But that’s not all. A vital part of the event was it’s academic side. We took part in web applications workshop that ended with hackathon. Each of the team consisting of locals and people from EESTEC created their own web app. After 5 days of hard work we went to the marvelous countryside in Romanian mountains. We visited Dracula castle, we experienced the vampire ritual and had one of the best weekends in our lives. This event was a perfect combination of the academic, fun and meeting new culture parts. It was organized very well and definitely made us want to come back to Romania."

Organisers’ report Ioana Huzum, IMW responsible "The International Motivational Weekend following the de<code>IT 2 workshop was like a breath of fresh air. We tried our best to create a lovely atmosphere for the participants coming from the international side, but also for our LC’s members that were definitely looking forward to a well-deserved break. de<cake> IT was organized in Moeciu de Jos in the middle of may, being an anniversary edition for our LC Bucharest’s 15 years celebration. Having this in mind, we tried our best to combine our EESTEC spirit, through a party full of happy shiny people, that had to go through a colourful glitter fight

LC Bucharest outdoors, with a thematic party inspired by the bleak air of the places in which Dracula used to rule centuries ago. The participants visited the surroundings, partied all night long and completed their experience with an Emotional Intelligence training. I can guarantee that this weekend will remain in history both through the magic of those places and the wonderful moments that we spent together, but also through the small legends that you are going to hear about from the veterans at a beer, who have seen with their eyes the miracles of those nights."

de < code > IT 2 From May, 6th 2018 to May, 11th 2018 Participants’ report Eugen Hoxha, LC Tirana "Spending one week in Bucharest surrounded by a bunch of amazing people was worthy enough. Since the first moment, I arrived on Bucharest and till the last moment I left Bucharest at least one of the organizing team was with me and the other part of the group. This can explain the level of safety that those guys were trying to give us. Members of LC Bucharest have been with us during all week we spent there and they made sure that we would not miss anything and our trio would be unforgettable. During our stay, we had the chance to visit different sites in the city, like parks, Palace of Parlament, old town, etc. Also, we had the opportunity to share our experience with other students from Bucharest and from different countries of Europe. Sharing the whole week with people from different countries helped each one of us to develop himself/herself on the cultural view and to adapt more with other cultures of other countries. But the main reason for collecting us in the same city was not knowing each other but the workshop, where we developed a to-do web app. During the work we learned more about developing an app, working on ita features, working in teams for developing this web app. We also learned web programming languages like HTML, CSS, Javascript but also FireBase system as a database system and Polymere also. For me the workshop can be rated 10/10 as the place where it was held was the hall of the main building of the university which was big enough and nice, professors were very good, understandable, kind and very professional. Organizers from Bucharest provided us everything necessary for the workshop on technical things also on the motivational part. Another good part of the event was accommodation in one of the best dormitories on Bucharest which was a clean one, beds were comfortable, it was located in a good position nearby university.

LC Bucharest Organizing team had cared for the food also. It was enough food during every meal and the food was generally very delicious. I would suggest for everyone to be part of one of the events of LC Bucharest as it is a well spent time the week you will stay there."

Organisers’ report Iulia Blindu, PR responsible "Organising de<code> IT 2 was an amazing experience full of challenging and unforgettable moments, an experience that helped me develop my skills, find my motivation to grow in EESTEC and learn lots of things near awesome friends. Working for 3 months on this project along with a team full of passionate EESTECers ended with one of the most satisfying weeks of my life. I think that the best feeling is when the participants come to thank you for the experience you provided them with and tell how much they have learned during the event and how awesome the EESTECers and the atmosphere they create are. Besides this, the experience of this workshop was flourished by the international part. Interacting with members of other LCs made me learn more about their culture and of course about how EESTEC is in other countries, spending time with people that share the same passions and goals with me. And how can an international event end better than with an IMW? A weekend full of fun alongside the people I spent so much time, with whom I worked and shared the experience of an international workshop. Overall, being part of the organizing team of de<code> IT 2 is something that I will never forget and those months have certainly contributed at shaping what I am today and brought me the most amazing friends."

Regional Meeting: The UNTOLD story of Bucharest From March, 31st 2019 to April, 5th 2019 Participants’ report Marko Rajkovic, LC Novi Sad "The UNTOLD story of Bucharest! Well I came to this amazing LC to make sure the story became TOLD! I’m a part of Regionalization VI team, so the Live Regional Meeting was a step in making my international work better, so that is one of the reasons I came to Bucharest. But, the main reason for my travel was to meet some special people from international teams I work in! I expected a lot from LC Bucharest, and I got even more than expected! I am truly amazed how well organized the LC is and how lovely the people are! I can honestly say I’m surprised, I’ve met around 100 people, and every single one of them were friendly and nice! Your hospitality, your devotion to all participants and your awesomeness gave me a big boost of motivation to pursue bigger things in EESTEC, and in life! Forever I will remember those 3 new Novi Sad members that I recruited in Bucharest, those 2 Luka minutes that are equal to X and my awesome piercing that I did with my pierce courage buddy to have a real long term memory of this amazing trip! From what I experienced, LC Bucharest is my second favorite LC, and I will always look for new ways to come back and visit you guys! Te iubesc, LC Bucharest!"

Organisers’ report Mihai Iacov, LRM coordinator: "It’s not been long since the Live Regional Meeting has ended, 2 weeks. True, not a long time but I felt pretty sad that it was over after just 3 hours of arriving home. At first we were pretty nervous because we had only half of the participants we hoped for but soon we learned that quality is more valorous over quantity. We had only 7 participants but they were incredible, interesting people from whom we learned a great deal of things but we mostly develop ourselves after the experiences we had while organizing this event. The participants were

LC Budapest

About LC Budapest MAVE (Electrical Engineering Students’ Hungarian Association) EESTEC LC Budapest was founded in 1986 with the aim of broadening the knowledge and horizons of engineering students. Our association has been a founding member of EESTEC. At the beginning our non-profit student organization arranged shortterm exchange programmes for foreign students in Hungary. Since then our profile has changed fundamentally, it is difficult to list all of our activities and events. Our principles are unchanged though: LC Budapest is determined to offer unique experience to young people, no matter if it is a summer rowing trip, a 24 hours programming competition or an international conference. But all mentioned above would not worth anything if the organization didn’t remain a community of friends. Being a member of LC Budapest comes not only with opportunities but also with delight.

About LC Cosenza ASI-UNICAL was born in October 1998; it is an engineering student association, not party political and no profit, which intends to promote the contact between students, companies, societies and professional categories to deepen the daily engineering main themes (through lectures, congresses, technical discussions and study travels), as well as promote contacts with potential employers. Since its foundation the ASI-UNICAL has concentrated its activities in international sphere, as local committee of EESTEC.

Driving into the future From May, 13th 2018 to May, 20th 2018 Participants’ report Elina Ntozi So: amazing landscape? Check! Great company/super-willing people? Check! Interesting and food-for-thought providing lectures? Check! Laughter, fun, parties and EESTEC spirit? Double Check!! What can possibly be said about this workshop? Each day was different, special. Each day brought both participants and members of the LC closer to one another, allowing us to explore the everyday life and customs of about 4 European countries. LC Cosenza collaboration between other student associations are some of the things that proved the hard work of the Organizing Committee and played a major role to the success of the workshop. The Organizers had everything planned to the detail, and even though the schedule was full, we still had time for games, relaxing and enjoying the beautiful scenery around the University (although we got to see the real beauty of Calabria on the IMW). We made lots of new friends, and every one of them left their personal mark on our memories and our hearts. Finally, every night was special as well! Different nights out for different tastes, so we can experience many aspects of the Calabrian nightlife. None of them boring, none of them we would change! At night we were different, more relaxed, more enthusiastic, maybe even crazier and a liiiittle bit drunk. So, to whoever is thinking about applying for an event at Cosenza, our advice is just: "Go for it". We guarantee you will have a wonderful time.

Organisers’ report Leonardo Lazzaro (Organizer) Seven out of eight participants arrived in Cosenza on Sunday the May 13th, and LC members brought them to their accommodation. In the night we had Welcome party, where partecipants had pizza, played beer pong and became familiar with LC members. On Monday 14th the workshop started: in the morning was held the "Opening Ceremony", at midday the last participant arrived, in the afternoon the participants were introduced to the Electric Propulsion Systems and they had a chill party. On Tuesday 15th morning there was an electric car prototype showcase, while in the afternoon there was sessions about IoT/IoV. At night, the partecipants joined the "Calabrian Night".

LC Cosenza The next day (16th May), participants visited UniCal racing team in the morning, and after lunch they had a lesson about ethical concerns of self-driving cars. At night a "Pizza competition" was held. In the morning of Thursday 17th, the participants attended a lesson about legal concerns of self-driving cars (following the day before subject), and in the afternoon the last session about Artificial Intelligence. Right after, "International Dinner" took place. On Friday there was no activities, to let the participants rest. After lunch, the Cosenza City Rally started and participants and LC members had dinner in a pizzeria. For the last day participants had a sea trip in Praia a mare, and at night a "Farewell Party" was held in LC headquarters. On Sunday 20th everyone went back home. Every morning the LC members organised breakfast at the participant’s accomodation. During the lessons were provided coffee, fuit juice, biscuits and more for snacking. For lunch and dinner the participants ate with the LC members at the canteen. At the end of the day, LC members always brought participants to the accomodation.

First Latina Regional Meeting From April, 12th 2018 to April, 15th 2018 Participants’ report Diogo Morgado Saraiva, I really liked to participate in the 1st Latina Meeting. Guys from organization picked me up at the bus station by car and took me to university where I met everyone. I had a problem with my smartphone and they were very helpful to help me trying to fix it. We had a party at night and this was the day of arrival. The first day we had two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. They were given by Marko Milosevic, EESTEC Trainer. They were very good indeed. At night we had an international night (if I’m not wrong) and it was my birthday. It was amazing. On the second day, we had another session in the morning and in the afternoon we made a city rally and we went to dinner at a restaurant. In next morning we went to the airport to pick the flight to Krakow to go to Congress. About sessions: the most that I like was the game. It was so long but very interesting. For our JLC Aveiro, it will be incredibly helpful in a way that will improve our skills in organizing events and structure our committee. It showed our weaknesses and where we can improve. Besides that, it improved me personally where, now, I’m more motivated to teach what I learned to the others. People will love the games and the energizers that I learned. If I could, I would repeat it again.

Organisers’ report Maria Iacino (Organizer), The Thursday ( 12th April ) all the participants have arrived in time and we picked up them with the car from the bus station, we carried them home for leaving the luggage and for getting ready. For that night we

LC Cosenza organized a little party ( Welcome party ) with pizza and beer pong, the participants met the other members of our LC. On Friday (13th April ) we had 2 training sessions, the first one, about HR, in the morning and the second one, about FR, in the afternoon, the same night we had an international night. Saturday (14th April) in the morning we had the last training about Project Management and in the afternoon we organized a city rally, in this way the participants visited the historical center of Cosenza. For the last night, we ate a pizza in a restaurant and later we went out to have some drink. The participants had every morning a breakfast made by their hosts, during the training they had little breaks with juice, pretzels, biscuits, etc. for lunches they ate at the canteen with LC Cosenza members and for dinner we ate all together during the playful activities. One participant arrived before the others, we hosted him in our home. On Sunday (15th April) everyone, or almost, woke up early to get the airplane to Krakow For us, it was an incredible experience, and we are proud to have organized the first-ever Regional Live Meeting of Region II.

LC Craiova

About LC Craiova LC Craiova is a member of the EESTEC family since 2006 and has organized numerous workshops and has involved itself heavily in the local student life. In the spring of 2013 EESTEC LC Craiova hosted a web programming workshop based on well-known easy-to-use Python from 24th to 30th of March 2013. Its aim was to teach the 13 participants gathered in our city from no more and no less than five countries the most simple and yet powerful scripting and programming language out there in order to create a working cloud application. The participants were greeted in a pure traditional Romanian style we all met and became friends, thus predicting the good collaboration days that were to come as well as the best parties we attended in a while. Besides the learning part, Pythonia also meant parties in the city’s clubs and pubs, preceded by billiards and bowling, a viewing of a selection of best all time commercials, a beer drinking contest where the winner was awarded with, what else, a python toy and a trip to an old well-known nearby wine cellar where we all had the occasion to see the wine manufacturing process and got to taste the wine obtained. Pythonia meant the opportunity to learn Python and to meet new people and their culture. At the end a working Twitter-like application has come to life and new friendships were born. The big EESTEC family has added to the record a new fruitful experience which the members that participated in and made it possible will surely never forget and hope to live again soon. A lot of time has passed since our last event(Pythonia), but now we are prepared with new forces and new ideeas, and we are going to host a new event soon. During the past 2 years we organised a lot of local events one more sucsesful than the other. One of the great events that we would like to mention is "How to: Electronics", an event that helped a lot of students improve their elec-

As LC Delft is one of the oldest LCs (EESTEC was founded in the Netherlands), EESTEC is currently registered in Delft.

LC East Sarajevo

About LC East Sarajevo Our local committee, LC East Sarajevo, based at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in East Sarajevo, became a part of EESTEC in 2004. at the Congress in Belgrade, after the elementary conditions for establishment were granted. The committee had 15 members. That’s when we earned a status of Observer. A year after that, after we organized the first international event «Jahorina Winter Exchange 2005», we were promoted to Local Committee. That was in Madrid, 2005. In following years we organised several events and welcomed our participants at the Olympic beauty of Jahorina. We used to traditionally organize our event in March. The name of our project was Jahorina Spring Break. During the workshop, we hosted on average about 20 participants. The main event of the workshop is the scientific conference "InfoTech", which at the time maintained on our Olympic Mountain Jahorina. Last year we took a break from international activities and we were focused more on local activities and recruiting new members. After JSB 2015 and our 10th birthday we decided to break tradition and to organize our brand new exchange called "Mountain Mania 2017". The concept is similar to JSB but with more free time and fun. The exchange took place from 27th March to 2nd April. Our biggest success so far is an organization of 10th EESTEC Chairpersons’ Meeting in November 2015. Despite the fact that we are small LC we succeeded to organize and prepare the event in less than 3 months. We are active locally also. Already two years in a row we organized Soft Skills Academy for all students of University in East Sarajevo as a second most important event. Also, great attention is given to humanitarian actions, and we regularly maintain them. Our traditional event is Humanitarian blood donation, which we orga-

Also, we organized local events that one of them had more than 1000 participants.

Regional Meeting: Ten Shades Of Glory From March, 31st 2019 to April, 5th 2019 Participants’ report Being a participant in Live Regional meeting hosted by LC Eskisehir was an amazing experience. From the moment I stepped foot in this lovely city, I felt welcomed and as if I was home. I had the opportunity to gain useful information about various aspects of our association and tips to improve myself and, maybe gradually, my LC. All thanks to our great trainer and facilitators! Besides the working parts, the city was beautiful and luckily we had plenty of chances to enjoy it. The city rally was really fun and very well organized and I think the river, the wax museum, the old colorful city and of course the last day at the huge park

LC Eskisehir with the fairytale castle, will remain unforgettable to me! It’s really impressive how many similarities someone can notice between the three countries of our region. Cuisine, habits, music, dances and of course common words united us even more than a normal EESTEC event. Finally, the success of this event derives from its people. The organizing committee, the participants, the members of LC Eskisehir and friends who join, didn’t hesitate to share their love at any time. I want to thank them all for their kindness, their hugs throughout the event and for making me laugh and enjoy every single moment this week. Region 1 ROCKS! Elina Ntozi

Organisers’ report Ten Shades of Glory was a challenging event for us from the moment we decided to organize it. The lack of university support made organizing this regional meeting frustrating, but we had clear goals and we were determined to make them real. Ten Shades of Glory was important attainment on the local level, along with the regional collaboration. The participants had the chance to meet other commitments in the same region, share experiences and knowledge with their members and discover how similar we are and how stronger we can be when we unite. Thanks to our trainer and facilitators, very useful and effective sessions were delivered, which varied from FR strategies to project management, local cooperation, Congress awareness, and other subjects. For a fascinating city like Eskisehir, it won’t take a lot of effort to have fun and make awesome memories! We the visited city’s most charming places like Odunpazari colorful houses, Sazova park, and the Dream Castle, the wax mu-

Ten Shades Sanguiner From April, 5th 2019 to April, 7th 2019 Participants’ report Hello EESTEC’ers! I’m Ceyda Yavas from LC Ankara. I was one of the participants for IMW ’Fifty Shades of Sanguiner’ organized by LC Eskisehir. I’ve been to a lot of events in EESTEC and it was in the first three, definitely. We had many opportunities to discover the amazing city, Eskisehir. Our lovely organizers were really interested and careful about us. We had 2 amazing parties, one of them was in the most famous night club in Eskisehir and the other one had Red theme, which every EESTEC’ers fall in love with. Although I’ve been to Eskisehir before, it was so different from those times, in a good way for sure. We went to historical and natural places which are really attractive. Also, we had an amazing City Rally, the task was pretty interesting and funny. Usually, at IMWs, we aren’t used to City Rally but it was a perfect idea to discover and enjoy in Eskisehir. In addition, it was wonderful that meet with people from Regional Meeting. Thanks a lot for everything, I love you soo much and can’t wait for another one. Ceyda Yavas- Participant

Organisers’ report Ten Shades Sanguiner Ten Shades Sanguiner was the first IMW of LC Eskisehir. Because of this and our perfect participants, it was an amazing experience for us. It was also very important because some of the organizers are inexperienced and that event helps them to experienced EESTEC Spirit in a new and the best way. Our participants, learn about Eskisehir and our culture by having amazing memories. Visiting Phrygian Valley and making haka in the middle of 5000 years old place is an experience, we cannot forget. We partied a lot, have fun, play games and make legendary memories. Participants satisfaction and taking amazing feedbacks was the best part of the event for us. Even in 3 days, we developed strong life-long friendships. The worst part was -as always- definitely ending the event.

About LC Gdansk Gdansk is located in northern Poland - often called the capital of Polish coast. LC Gdansk is quite small, but we care more about quality than quantity: every single one of us is full of EESTEC spirit. One of the indication of our involvement is our first workshop, Check This Out, which we’ve organized in October 2015. We are surely not ending our EESTEC adventure any soon and you can expect more awesome events in the future! And remember - even though Baltic Sea is quite cold, it didn’t freeze our bones - you can always count on our hospitality and friendship :)

LC Gliwice

About LC Gliwice LC Gliwice has been founded in 2013, but even though we’re very young and still learning and settling the EESTEC name on the local level, some of our individuals have become well-known across EESTEC Local Committees thanks to their unique personality, strong motivation and one of its kind sense of humor. Being small doesn’t mean being weak, Unity, Consistency, Trust and Friendship, those attributes combined with optimistic attitude and dream of constantly hungry young hearts combine into who we really are, a family. Because in order to succeed, you must always stay hungry, this is what we believe in, and this is what we do. In our short career we’ve organized 3 workshops: - flight simulator workshop called "Simple As That", - two programming workshops "The Meaning of Python" and "Polish Up Your Java". All of our workshops were organized both for EESTEC participants and local students, who applied for the workshops. Apart from workshops, we also organized two local rounds of EESTech Challenge project, for two consecutive years since the project’s launch. Its participants were able to attend lectures, be a part of a hackathon, and in the meantime - get to know EESTEC. We will continue the hard work of our "ancestors" and use it to grow on the local level (i.e. cooperation with different student’s organizations, EESTech Challenge project, Soft Skill Academy and so on). Stay Positive & Hungry!

4th Design Sprint From March, 24th 2018 to March, 29th 2018 Organisers’ report The event 4th Design Sprint took place in Istanbul from 24.03.2018 to 31.03.2018. We are very proud of Design Team Board and effort that all participants have put into making this event great! Without them, this event wouldn’t be that flawless. We spend a lot of time organizing this event and we believe that both participants and Design Team Board were satisfied with it. During the week, participants worked a lot, created a lot of designs related to EESTEC international. They learned how to create a basic design and use the tools that would be the most useful while working on designs for EESTEC. Big part of the event was also to share ideas about design and knowledge about it. We also invited external lecturers so that it would add value to the event and maybe to convince people to pursue the career in the Design field. One biggest part of the event was motivating people and encouraging them to join international and to start being more active locally in EESTEC. Design team board also approached a lot of people to apply for the next Design team board, and also encourage them to join Design team

LC Istanbul both for this year and also for the next one. We had a lot of trainings, which helped people to improve their Soft skills related to design (time & stress management, Feedback & communication) Through it they learnt how to become better leaders and how to work better in a group. Even though it was an operational event we also had a chance to do a City Rally in historical peninsula of the city, where participants and trainers were divided into 3 groups and they had to do various tasks as doing Haka dance with strangers or learning traditional dance from random people and many more. In the evenings they experienced how to Rock LC Istanbul Style. We were really happy to see how much participants connected with each other and how they did not slip into groups but did everything together. They were also looking at their designs in free time so we believe that they did great job, and really enjoyed lectures as well as event. All in all the event was really inspiring and motivational, full of energy and EESTEC spirit. Meeting so many different people, great trainers and amazing people was an amazing experience for OC and if we had a chance to turn back time, we would definitely organize this event all over again!!

The Taste of My Exchange From December, 2nd 2018 to December, 9th 2018 Participants’ report When I first applied to "The Taste of My Exchange" I had no idea what to expect, it was my first event and I was a bit nervous. From the beginning of the event and after I met only a few member from LC Istanbul I knew that I would have so much fun! Everything was so well organized and we got to taste the best food also see amazing things. But what I liked the most was the people.. I met so many good, kind and loving people that words can’t even describe. I’m so thankful to LC Istanbul for letting me participate in this event and for giving me the chance to meet all these beautiful people! I couldn’t ask for a better first event.. I hope to see everyone I met in this event soon. #lcistanbulrocks

Organisers’ report Years and years later LC Istanbul decided to organize an exchange, then we found the topic "Turkish Food", from that moment we know that we are gonna have so much fun! Also we have the chance to show our lovely participants Istanbul since Istanbul is quiet big, we don’t have a chance to visit every part of it. Organizing Committee worked hard for the event, we tried to fill every space with an activity. We spend our times in every part of Istanbul. The smile on every participant’s face was warming us in the cold. We hosted great people with great joy. One of the best part of the event when we took the participants a cooking workshop. As you know EESTEC is about knowing different cultures, and with that exchange we tried to show them Turkish culture as much as we can. All in all the event was really inspiring and motivational, full of energy and EESTEC spirit. We hope that all the participants both official and unofficial had fun and left Istanbul with a food bump! And as we promised, we think that one more time we showed people how #lcistanbulrocks.

Training for Trainers (T4T) From March, 20th 2019 to March, 29th 2019 Participants’ report EESTEC provides many types of different events to its members. The diversity goes from exchanges, where you can party most of the time, to operational events with many different kinds of topics that you can focus on. In my case, my first operational event was the 11th Training 4 Trainers organized by the amazing LC Istanbul. Of course, I’ve listened to many others’ T4T stories: how did they decide to apply, their T4T experiences etc. But this was my journey to begin as a future trainer, so I was still curious about how this event will have an impact on me. In the beginning, it seemed similar to a regular event with many training sessions: We had the opening ceremony, played some GTKEO games and went over the schedule. It seemed promising and everyone was so excited about it. Then, the event actually started. You could see the development in each participant even session by session. Learning every single information requires some effort, therefore we all had to push ourselves to our limits, stepped out of our comfort zones and tried to become the better version of ourselves. However, it was not just about training sessions and delivering them. You get the chance to bond with amazing people that were just strangers to you a few days ago. Even the most quiet and shy ones open up during reflection groups, share their thoughts and feelings, and connect with each other like they were best friends for ages. For me, meeting with so many special people was as rewarding as being a participant in this event. In the end, all you get to keep is the photos, the handouts, the satisfaction of delivering your first session, a new family and a whole new perspective. And even though this seems more than enough, when it’s over, all you want to do is go back in time and experience it all over again. I can write many more paragraphs on how this event had an impact on me, but each and every one of the T4T participants had a different path to follow. It is up to you to go for it and follow your own. After this 9 life-changing days, I can easily say I am extremely satisfied with the outcome and can’t wait for the next

Organisers’ report T4T, the dream of generations, passed with unforgettable memories and hugs. As the OC, we started to work with high motivation, we all were aware of the importance of T4T, and we planned every detail to make everything easier for participants and trainers. Our motivation was to be a family with participants, and they were the best pax group I have ever seen, so we had so much fun and we became a family. Also, I would like to thank squad teams who helped the OC during the event to made this event better. All the participants were waiting and working for their session day, and it was really amazing to see their improvement during the event, and they had a great job. We are celebrating the best generation of Training Team which is "ZuperZeneration". It was a great honour to be a part of raising the new generation, and I would like to thank everyone who contributed to T4T from the beginning. Zoran Kabakci, Head Organizer

LC Karlsruhe

About LC Karlsruhe EESTEC LC Karlsruhe consists of a group of highly motivated students always ready to make something special in Karlsruhe. As of April 2018, we number 199 members. We have already done our first international workshop "Electrify: Mobility of Tomorrow" with our IMW "International Motivation of Tomorrow". It was a huge success and made us even more motivated. In the past year, we did organize many projects with companies like Rohde &Schwarz, Porsche, and Invensity. Remember last year we told you that we are working on our first "Skill Academy - more than engineering"? Well, yes we did it and it was a success. It made us more popular and helped to recruit new members. in November 2018, we held for the first time the EESTEC regional exchange for cooperation. for five days, the participants worked six hours a day to enhance the transfer of knowledge and the facilitation between local and international level. of course, we managed to go out and party every night like real EESTECers and we believe that the participants have had a great time in Karlsruhe. At the moment we are organizing the second edition of "Skill Academy - more than engineering" and at the same time our next international Workshop which will be in June 2018, so stay tuned. The city of Karlsruhe is the second-largest city in the state of Baden-Wurttemberg, in southwest Germany, near the Franco-German border. The city is one of the warmest and sunniest in Germany. It was planned with the palace tower (Schloss) at the center and 32 streets radiating out from it like the spokes of a wheel, or the ribs of a folding fan, so that one nickname for Karlsruhe in German is the "fan city" (Fiecherstadt).

LC Karlsruhe Our group is seated at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). KIT is one of the largest and most prestigious research and education institutions in Germany known for the high quality of research work around the world. In the 2011 performance ranking of scientific papers, Karlsruhe ranked first in Germany and among the top ten universities in Europe in engineering and natural sciences. Karl Benz studied mechanical engineering at this University and it was here that Heinrich Hertz proved the existence of electromagnetic waves in the late 1880s.

LC Krakow

About LC Krakow LC Krakow, the first Local Committee of EESTEC in Poland, is a students’ organization at AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow. We are working mostly with Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering and Faculty of Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunications. LC Krakow is dated back to 1998, so this year we are celebrating the 20th birthday! In the beginning, we were part of the Science Club of Electronics, but in 2007 we separated and became independent students’ organization, registered in 2009. EESTEC is making us have more motivation, more will to get up every day (sometimes early in the morning) and do more than the day before. Our EESTECers get motivation through different trainings, part of them during local sessions, events abroad or our Motivational Weekends. There we have an opportunity to get to know each other better and find ourselves to act in EESTEC with more engagement and power. We make a very cheerful team, composed of many people willing to contribute and work really hard towards the success of our projects. Our committee is organizing both international and local events. Last year on the local level we had 2nd editions of EESTech Challenge local round and Hacknarok. EESTech Challenge gathered several teams of students from our university which faced with Big Data in a slow hackathon. Hacknarok was 24h hackathon - the battle for the best and most persistent programmers. And second time in a row it resulted in great success. After the busiest week for EESTEC AGH Krakow’s members, Spring Congress, there was a time to load up batteries during our summer Motivational Weekend in June. Not being enough of soft skills trainings and integration, we organized second MW - in November, after recruiting new members. We ended the year with our flagship project - 9th edi-

LC Krakow explores and develops our own leadership potential and introduces students to the corporate world. It is the most important that our goal is not only to work but also to have a great deal of joy together. Our members are full of new creative ideas and ready for new challenges and it is sure that this potential will be used in the best way possible!

Spring Congress in Krakow From April, 15th 2018 to April, 20th 2018 Participants’ report Spring Congress 2018 took place at 15-20/04/2018! A huge event organized by EESTEC AGH Krakow and the Board of our association. An amazing combination of the most important event in our association and our beloved LC, that nobody could miss. Our enthusiasm and our motivation were increasing day by day especially after the impressive posts in the facebook group. Our expectations had been at the peak even before the event started. More than 300 participants were there and were really being taken care of. Small groups of participants had their own "angel", who was there for whatever they probably needed. Despite the numerable participants, AGH Krakow handled it in a smart way! (They are experienced to organize SMART events anyway.) It was great to be there and see what they have accomplished. They worked very hard the whole year and they did an amazing job, all were admirably organized. Spring Congress is the biggest gathering of our association. It was such a great feeling to see again all the people that you have met before and you have lived so much together. I was surprised also by the fact that every day I met so many new people. It was amazing! Apparently, I didn’t have the time to come closer to all of them, but at least we had the time to exchange ideas, opinions and live this experience together as good and as unexpected as we could. Every person gave to this their own touch. Every day was a special day. We were spending many hours at the GMs and we are very

Through the GMs we had the chance to get aware of everything that has been happening in EESTEC the entire year, be part of the decisions that are going to change and improve EESTEC and maybe propose something that we want to see in the future. Each day ended with a great party and the unofficial participants and the members of AGH Krakow were there to cheer us up and have an unforgettable time together. At the same time, we had the chance to explore the beautiful old town of Krakow and the Polish pubs and clubs. It was also a magical experience to be present at the elections of our new board. Few fully motivated people, who were willing to contribute even more to EESTEC and help it grow, were trying to do their best and persuade us that they are suitable for the position that they had applied for. We were discussing this subject constantly those two days and trying to come to the best decision. The support that the board candidates were receiving from all of us was so heartwarming and moving. Finally, our new Board was elected and we were all so relieved and delighted. The International Night was also special! It was just an amazing feeling to see hundreds of EESTECers with the red t-shirts in one place having fun, being part of all the traditional dances of EESTEC and introducing you to their own culture. That night I was feeling part of this family even more.

LC Krakow This Spring Congress came to an end with one of the very new traditions in our association. We celebrated all together the first Hug an EESTECer Day, an action so simple, but so meaningful for us. Not only did we hug each other, but also we embraced every member of this association. I am very grateful to the organizers and the Board for this beautiful Congress. It was a unique experience and I am glad that I was part of it! We broadened our horizons, we got fully motivated, we created some strong friendships and we felt profoundly the EESTEC Spirit! Iliana Daniilidou LC Thessaloniki

Organisers’ report It all started in 2016, when newly elected Board of LC Krakow decided that it is time for our Committee to go big. Months of research and preparations to apply for the next SCOC succeeded during Spring Congress 2017 in Ljubljana where Krakow’s representants convinced General Assembly that we are truly ready for this challenge! And that was just the beginning. Gosia, Dominika, Agata, Zosia, Misia and Antek at the head of Spring Congress Organizing Committee worked for 8 months to make this Congress as great experience for everyone involved as possible. Big shout-out to them for starting with members of LC Krakow. They

194

Yearbook 2018-2019

LC Krakow have managed to engage a great part of our Commitment into preparations and let them feel EESTEC Spirit at the same time. Through 24 meetings with the whole SCOC team, both the awareness about what the Congress is and our excitement to finally see it in Krakow have significantly increased. Our lovely Coordinators were keeping all of us busy with numerous activities including (and not limited to!) outdoor logistics planning, preparing pierogi workshops or Valentine’s Day with SCOC. All those efforts resulted in an unforgettable week of Spring Congress 2018 with over 300 EESTECers from abroad, numerous successes, a couple of failures, unexpected surprises, moments of honesty and truth, mashed potatoes, bigos... and even a wedding. That April week made members of LC Krakow so much motivated, ready for new upcoming challenges and left all of them with memories for a lifetime.

About LC Lille Our committee was promoted officially as an LC in 2012. Since then, we worked on promoting EESTEC in our engineering school Polytech Lille. First thing you need to know about us: LC Lille is one of the various student’s council associations not an independent entity. This year, we first focused on getting more members and strengthening the commitment. Currently, we are about 20 and we made EESTEC shine even brighter through events we organized in our school. One of the most important one was "the international culture day". We presented EESTEC through several materials such as pictures, some typical European meals, and dancing on Magnifico. Also, thanks to members who travelled, we had the opportunity to help some countries present their culture. This year we organized with LC Aachen the IMW Aixtreme 3 for 30. The last day was in Lille and our member higly appreciated this day with the participants. Participants on their side really liked discovering the french culture and gastronomy. Greetings from LC Fromage !

LC Lisbon

About LC Lisbon EESTEC LC Lisbon was officially founded in 2006 and became an LC during the congress in Athens, in 2010. Our members come from 3 different universities: Universidade de Lisboa (IST/UL), Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCT/UNL) and Instituto Universitario de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL). Historically, LC Lisbon was founded by students from IST but in order for this local committee to become even greater, it became a joint venture of 3 universities. In June 2014, we created a partnership with IEEE-IST, which lasted 1 year. Throughout the year, we gathered in some local activities such as EESTEC Hour and EESTEC Dinner, where we were able to motivate each other and enjoy a good meal. In the end of November, another EESTEC dinner was held, with 10 LC Lisbon members and the chairman of Observer Aveiro. In the meanwhile, we created some promotional material, such as posters and flyers. We also motivated and supported students from Aveiro, a city of Portugal, and they became officially an EESTEC Observer. Between 30th of April and 7th of May, 2015, an international engineering workshop was organized by us, with 12 participants, which main topics were Arduino and Drones. In the beginning of June 2015, another EESTEC Hour was held. Later that month, a new board was elected and we got a new office at Instituto Superior Tecnico (IST, Campus Alameda), where the academic part of our workshop took place. We are about 20 members, of which 10 are active. Greetings from Lisbon, LC Lisbon

LC Ljubljana

About LC Ljubljana LC Ljubljana, one of the founding LCs of EESTEC, has been active for more than 30 years, and since then our members have been setting high standards with their enthusiasm and ingenuity. Our home institution is the University of Ljubljana, with our members studying at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Computer and Information Science. In our local environment we organise different lectures, soft skills trainings, promote interesting events. The biggest and most important annual local project is JobFair, which we first organised in 2007. It’s an event where companies can meet their potential employees and students can take their first steps of building a career. The fair consists of booth presentations of numerous companies as well as interesting lectures, moderated discussions and speed dating with employers. With such actions we try to help students get the most out of their study years. On the international level, we regularly organise workshops for foreign students, which traditionally conclude with one of our legendary International Motivational Weekends situated in our beautiful countryside. We also have experience with handling bigger events: we organised the 1987 and 1999 Congress and jointly with LC Rijeka the 2008 Congress. In 2014 we prepared our first Advanced Skills Workshop, followed by another two in 2015 and 2016.In 2017 we are organizing a spring congress, as well as another ASW. We always welcome our international guests with awesome parties and one of the most desirable drinks in EESTEC - Borovnicke. We have big plans for the future, as we never run out of highly motivated members, eager to try something new, improve their skills and of course spread EESTEC Spirit!

The IMW Kranjska Gora From October, 19th 2018 to October, 21st 2018 Organisers’ report Everything began on Friday morning when participants started arriving in Ljubljana. We gathered on Kampus and then showed them around the city until the departure. Departure was at 16.30, no one was late, and everything was great. We arrived at our hotel at 18.30, some of the participants were already there, as they went with their own cars. They had one hour of free time until dinner. During this time we (organizers) took care of all the legal stuff with the hotel and we assigned participants their rooms. After dinner, they had some more free time and we prepared party place and the band started practicing. The Woodstock party started at 22.00 and lasted until 5 am. In the morning we cleaned the party place and called participants for breakfast, many didn’t show up, because they were a hangover. For those who were not dead, we had soft skills training Elon Musk’s Secret Sauce. After Lunch, we went to lake Jasna. Because we were a bit further from the lake this year, we had to drive people with cars in more rounds, but it wasn’t a big problem. Then we had dinner and after it was time for Radioactive Party. We mounted UV light and gave participants glowing bracelets and colors. In the morning we cleaned up the place, checked out and went back to Ljubljana. There were no problems in the hotel, nothing was broken and we already made arrangements for the next year. In Ljubljana, we were hanging out with participants until their departure time and then we escorted them to the bus/train station. There were no serious problems, the atmosphere was great and we felt like the participants really enjoyed their time.

T.O.O.L. Boostcamp 2 From December, 8th 2018 to December, 15th 2018 Organisers’ report The event went smoothly, no major problems. We had a few problems; one night dinner restaurant got cancelled, but we ordered pizza. Another day we had planned a PubCrawl, but participants said they were too cold to be walking around Ljubljana for a few hours so we just went to one pub and stayed there. The team was experienced so we solved these problems without much worry. There were no problems with the participants. They were all awesome. Respected the rules, weren’t troublesome, followed the OC orders.

LC Madrid

About LC Madrid Hola everyone! LC Madrid is one of the committees which founded EESTEC back in the 80s, being a former member of the old association which lead to the formation of EESTEC: Eurielec. Since we are very lazy, we have kept this old name, Eurielec, for decades, and it has become now part of our identity. We are located at the Telecommunication School of the Technical University of Madrid (ETSIT UPM), and so far, we are the only LC in Spain. At local level, we work on different Electrical Engineering and Computer Science projects, such as the organisation of Linux and open software courses or the organisation of small workshops on electronics projects. We also work in project about soft skills, working and travelling in Europe. We are the LC responsible for taking care of the International Bureau and getting this Yearbook done! If you want to meet us, don’t hesitate to apply for one of our events!

Sunny Spain Revival From July, 30th 2018 to August, 6th 2018 Participants’ report I have been in so many EESTEC events, yet Sunny Spain Revival is my favorite. It can be one of the best weeks in my life! Just imagine mixing an EESTEC event with the biggest Spanish music festival in such an amazing coast side. I met a

LC Madrid lot of people and I am so lucky to have a chance like this. We had so much fun and LC Madrid was always there to help us when we need anything. As people can imagine camping life style is not the best one, in that exchange you don’t even care about it. You only care about how much fun you have ?! I believe that every participant felt the same things as me, I am so thankful to LC Madrid for the hospitality they showed us and for one of the best week in my life! I suggest everyone to try the next SSR, there is no chance you regret it!

BrAIns From May, 6th 2018 to May, 13th 2018 Participants’ report Here is the latest news of LC Madrid’s Workshop BrAIns! Let’s fly to sunny southern Europe and bring 20 EESTECers (and way more with the locals) together. Here we are! Let’s start with what we have done in the famous ETSIT of Madrid. We head to it on Monday and there we have the great opportunity to meet the university rector and other important persons during the opening ceremony. Then we continue with some pictures and go through the content of the week. AI has so many fields of application! Each company strives to present us the basic knowledge about it and explain to us some projects they work on. We are not only speaking about small companies but also national and worldwide companies like Telefonica or Nokia Bell Labs which make the lectures very scientific and professional. We had the chance to have a small practice session too but the best was the visit of CeDint, a lab where people work on IoT, augmented reality and virtual reality. It was the perfect balance between fun and knowledge. The researchers were quite young which made our exchanges even better. And what would be a perfect academic part without training? So we also had a Team building and Group dynamics training handled by our lovely Javier Anton Yuste and Alvaro Escribano. Well adapted for the different backgrounds of participants, renewed and original for the most experienced one. But wait there’s more! Imagine a mix of EESTEC Spirit and a party city like Madrid, unbelievable! In Spain, you usually gather around some tapas to socialize. Well, I can tell that this event participants and organizers were closely bounded and even closer than other EESTEC events I visited. Each night was a new night, traditional food was you put sunshine in your plate, pre-party in a bar with cheap drinks and a new club to visit every night. A new club actually means, old theater renovated and others were latina music is playing live and people dance on the bar. The thing which was even better is that we usually had a student discount in the bars

212

Yearbook 2018-2019

LC Madrid and clubs, very good attention from LC Madrid. To complete everything and make this event magical we finished the week with an IMW. The place was just paradise, lost in the forest we had a swimming pool, a huge room for the party and food given by real cooks. LC Madrid also organized activity during the day and especially a crazy gymkhana that cheered up us so well. We could do everything in that place and usually chilled outside during the day and have a philosophical discussion under the starry night sky. For a general last word, LC Madrid offered us an event of high quality, we never got bored regarding lectures or party at night. We saw and felt the real good care they had for us, we did not notice any problem as they always sought our well-being and serenity. Their hearts are as sunny as their country and their welcoming as heartwarming as the special padron pepper. Thank you LC Madrid.

Organisers’ report Hey hey!! BrAIns started in a very sunny Sunday, the 6th of May. However, our LC Madrid’s minion hordes had been active for two days already, picking up participants at the airport, hosting them and going out all together in one of the cheapest and greatest bars of our city!! Sunday evening comes, all our participants are at the hostel but it’s time to get a small appetizer of the week: a bar where huge tapas come free with your beer or sangria, followed by one of the most reknown clubs in Madrid: Joy Eslava!!! Next morning, it’s time to suit up for the welcome ceremony with our faculty and university directors, our chaiman and our Main Organizer speeches. With their ties and scarfs in a flamboyant EESTEC red colour, everyone is sooo classy and elegant that normal students are amazed and our professional paparazzis lack of time to capture all those bright smiles and shining eyes, full of emotions

LC Madrid because they are realizing that the event has started indeed. Then lectures follow each other during the whole week about different parts of Artificial Intelligence, delivered by companies such as Nokia, IBM, Tinamica, Sngular or Telefonica, as well as a training by our wonderful trainers Alvaro and Javi Anton. But hey, aren’t we missing something? International Night and the City Rally of course!!! Participants and our freshmans discovered the true EESTEC Spirit with amazing songs and the craziest dances and challenges. Eventually, it is time for the cherry on top of the cake: our IMW. The party bus is full and heads to the countryside. In the middle of the mountains appears a sanctuary of peace and tranquility. Dozens of bungalows, a huge swimming pool, a basketball court along with a party room with lights, speakers and smoke throwing machines ensured that everybody enjoyed the best week-end of their lives!!!! Saddly, everything had an end, and so had our event, however not before our farewell party where participants offered their gifts and our boardies were trying to hold back their tears (although they didn’t try hard enough apparently) while saying goodbye.

Organisers’ report Report from the Workshop "Embedded Automotive Systems" and the IMW "A SpectaculCAR Christmas" Atanas Daltchev LC Munich Head organizer The Workshop took place in Munich between 9.12. and 14.12. with 16 participants partaking in lectures by TUM professors and docents, company visits at Infineon and Texas Instruments and BMW and sightseeing and socializing during their free time. Afterwards from the 14.12. to the 16.12. these participants together with members from LC Munich and some non-EESTEC students spent the weekend in a hut in Hirschegg, Austria in the extent of the IMW connected to this Workshop. The organization started mid-august with the accommodation reservations, lectures and company visit done around the end of September. Transportation of the participants was planned beforehand, the tickets were provided by us on the spot and the bus to the IMW was booked prior. Arrivals, check in

LC Munich and transportation and meals went flawlessly, with the only trouble being moving food and drinks from the storage to the bus. There were some delays regarding the departures due to problems with public transportation and the weather. The academical part went well, especially the company visit at Infineon which was very well received by the participants. The lecturers at the TUM were also very happy to collaborate with EESTEC and did a good job. Sadly we did not get a lab tour at BMW so we had to resort to the BMW museum. Having Infineon as our official sponsor for the event provided us with a lot of material from them for the participants. Company visits consisted of a short tour and presentations of current work on the topic and the companies in general. Last of all the social part. We managed to do a lot of sightseeing, especially around the city centre and numerous different Christmas markets Munich has to offer in winter. As for partying, we were at one bar, one club and the international night together with 2 more evenings of socializing at our University, in the facility of the electrical engineering student union. The IMW consisted of easy hiking, a bad taste motto party and a Christmas party. Unfortunately only a few members of LC Munich other than the organizers could make it to the social events other than international night.

About LC Nis

Currently, EESTEC Local Committee Nis counts about 60 active members who are totally committed to maintaining the EESTEC atmosphere at the Faculty Of Electronic Engineering in Nis, as well as the city of Nis in general.

We at LC Nis, believe that being a good engineer does not only involve possessing technical knowledge, but rather good social skills as well. In light of that, we devote a lot of attention to that kind of knowledge. Moreover, we know that acquiring knowledge is nothing without having fun! That’s why we try to combine both components equally during our events.

Last year we managed to organize two local events as well as an international one: "Soft Skills Academy" in May 2018, "IEEESTEC Student Conference" (11th edition in November 2018) and "Jazz Do It" workshop in August 2018. Now we are preparing to organize "Code Craft 3.0", a programming competition. This way we are trying to raise the academical level in EESTEC. We are looking forward to continue all these projects, and of course, to organize a new ones and we would be honored if you participate in our future events!

Jazz do it 2018 From August, 8th 2018 to August, 13th 2018 Participants’ report A trip to Nis took quite a while considering Sarajevo and Nis are relatively close. The bus wasn’t the best and we were late on schedule so we didn’t have many breaks and I hoped I will have better impressions after the exchange. Guess what? I did! At first, Nis seemed to be a very small city but throughout the event, the organizers showed us a lot of beautiful and historical places. This city is really really old by the way. Did you know that a few Roman emperors were born there? And not just that - they have a huge fortress, that’s where the Nisville festival took place, and yet it’s not fully discovered. A bit of surprise for me were the prices - relatively cheaper than in Sarajevo and that’s something I’m not used to. Beer and everything related to the festival was cheap and I felt like the entire city was somehow involved in the event. I must send very special thanks to the organizers once again as they really did make us feel special and allowed us to do pretty much whatever we want. Overall this was the first exchange event I participated in EESTEC and I can’t wait for the next one.

LC Novi Sad

About LC Novi Sad EESTEC LC Novi Sad is a local committee established in 2001. at the conference in London. Our association brings together students from the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science,Mechatronics, Biomedical Engieneering, Software Engineering and Graphical Design. Since membership in EESTEC carries the responsibility and obligation, not just membership "on paper", EESTEC LC Novi Sad, with over 320 members, is one of the largest and most active local committees. We organized 13 exchanges and 8 professional seminars so far, and hosted more than 260 colleagues from European technical universities, while nearly 300 of our students are sent on the road to Europe. EESTEC LC Novi Sad in 2010. received a great honor to organize the ECM (EESTEC Chairpersons’ Meeting), one of the most important events within the organization. On the occasion of the Presidential Conference of electrical engineering students we have hosted over 70 participants who were actively working during the event to create a new development EESTEC strategy, involving numerous projects in the coming years. For the last eight years EESTEC LC Novi Sad has extended the domain of their activities, and become very active at the local level. With the excellent cooperation with companies and universities, we organized four major competitions in programming, several presentations and seminars for local students and a job fair KONTEH 06, KONTEH 07, KONTEH08, KONTEH10, KONTEH11, KONTEH 12, KONTEH 13 and KONTEH 14. In 2014 our committee had the honor to organize HoBOM and host our dear new Internacional Board as well as the old one. We were given the privilege to provide them with a unforgettable time in our city and in doing so made their

LC Novi Sad work, which was pretty harsh and tiring, a little bit less tedious. In 2019 we have organized our 5th Soft Skills Academy. It was organized as part of international EESTEC SSA project. We had one international trainer from Ljubljana who helped our trainers to spread knowledge and EESTEC spirit. For several years, EESTEC LC Novi Sad has a full support from the University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Engineering, Provincial Department of Sport and Youth, Provincial Department of Education and Culture, and most recently by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Serbia.

Rubin Rangers From May, 27th 2018 to June, 3rd 2018 Participants’ report Rubin Rangers organized by LC Novi Sad was my first event. I heard a lot of stories about EESTEC spirit from members of my LC, so I wanted to experience it. I chose Rubin Rangers, the name was promising. I knew how Novi Sad is a lively city, and my friend Nikola, who has already been a participant on the event made by LC Novi Sad, told me that the members of this Committee are a fantastic group of people. Because of that, I was rejoicing to meet new people, and I had incredibly high expectations. However, this event was definitely more than I expected and it motivated me to be a more active member of my LC and to get more EESTEC experience. The Catacombs, City Rally, Paintball, Aqua Park Petroland, Sremski Karlovci, parties, everything was so great. Special thanks for visiting Petrovaradin catacombs, an unusual and exciting way of learning about the history of Petrovaradin Fortress and Novi Sad. It was an amazing experience walking through the tunnels in which actual soldiers used to live a long time ago. The tunnels and the historical background were quite fascinating. Another adventure was Aqua Park Petroland, and in the pool, with artificial waves, we have done the HAKA dance. Cuba Libre was our place to cheer up, a bar with an excellent selection of exotic cocktails and Rubin Vinjak, This was the Rangers to party, and after we continued our party on the quay next to the Danube river, where we stand to watch the

LC Novi Sad sunrise almost every morning, while we were dancing and chilling. I could continue to talk about all the adventures on the exchange, but instead of that, I invite all EESTECers to apply in future events of LC Novi Sad, to feel that atmosphere that I felt. To sum up, I want to thank all of you for that great week. We came as strangers, we leave as friends. -Jelena Piper

Organisers’ report As the coordinator for digital marketing my job was to promote our event to all EESTECers, to create a marketing strategy and, in the end, to be in contact with all the participants before, during and after the exchange. During the exchange I was trying to make the time for the participants as best as it could be, going to all activities with them and trying to introduce them to Serbian culture, our student lives and EESTEC spirit! All of were strangers at the beginning, but we all said goodbye as friends for life! -Marko Rajkovic Rubin Rangers was a really great and memorable event that got us all connected, organizers and participants both. As activity coordinator, my mission was to make sure that our participants, but also our members, have the best time during the whole week. From the early morning, they had activities such as paintball, swimming, rock climbing and also cultural tours - visit of famous Catacombs, Sremski Karlovci, where they had a wine tasting. And for the city rally, we have prepared them a rally to remember. This exchange gave us a lot of friends and memories that we’ll remember until the end of our lives.

LC Patras

About LC Patras EESTEC Patras was founded in 2006. After a few years EESTEC Patras was JLC and then LC. During those years, two international events took place. In 2011, all members of EESTEC LC Patras graduated and during the ECM of 2012 EESTEC Patras was downgraded to Observer. At that point, some students of our University discovered EESTEC and they started making it popular to the students of our department. After two years of being Observer, we managed to motivate enough people to join EESTEC through presentations and local activities, which resulted in a core of members who is highly motivated to organise and participate in EESTEC events and keep the local committee of EESTEC Patras active during the next years. Because of our intense activity of the last months, in December 2014, we got upgraded from Observer to JLC and later at the 29th EESTEC Congress we got promoted to our recent status of an LC. Today, our local committee is counting about 189 members which are students of the University of Patras. Since last year we have organised the following events: -Operation:S.U.N. 2.0, our second exchange event with 4 international and 28 local participants. -We organized set of workshops for the students of our University in order to empower their knowledge and guide them from theory to practical skills.

H.E.R.O. From May, 13th 2018 to May, 18th 2018 Participants’ report I started thinking about what to write and my feelings are still fresh and mixed. Today is almost 10 days since the event in Patras has finished and I have to say that I am still sad that it is over. I would like to describe some of the days that I spent there and I will try to make a good and helpful review. Let start from begin, as it should be. I arrived as the last participant on Sunday the 13th of May, at night. The organizer, Dafni, was waiting for me at the bus station with her recognizable smile and brought me to the hotel to meet other participants and get rest. The fact that I was only female participant between 6 male participants didn’t scare me, but I was expecting to share my room with some of them. Surprisingly there was one room only for me, which I understand as a sign of respect and care from LC Patras (also room had the best view :D). Every day during the event, in the morning we had classes, which I have to say, were very useful and the team of professors was really responsible and professional in their work. After classes, we had different activities every day like bowling, games in playhouse or park, educational things like museums and also beautiful vinery. All these things helped us to get more information about Patras as a city, but also about Greek culture and history. Then, of course, one day we had a city rally which was especially funny and full of creative requests.

LC Patras Parties were organized every night, with a different theme, which was also really interesting. My favorite one was International Night because we tasted so many different drinks, meals and everyone had fun. I think it was the only night when both, participants and organizers, got relaxed and didn’t think about anything but having a great time. I have to say that organizers were always willing to make our wishes come true, to bring us everywhere, to visit and see everything, even when they were really tired and exhausted. The only thing that I am sad about, is that I didn’t get to know people from Patras better. I got much closer with participants. Maybe 7 days is not enough to get to know all the people from the group. Or maybe it is only my personal opinion, but this is the thing that was on my mind. So, my advice for LC Patras for the next events, which I hope you will have so many, would be to have more fun, to not stress about some not important things and to stay special as you all are! I miss you all and I am sending you many kisses and hugs from Belgrade! Helena

Organisers’ report There was good communication between participants and organizers with some few exceptions that have already been mentioned above. Generally speaking, our main problem was the quantity of the participants because of the many events running through the same month of our event. We couldn’t realize how more appealing to make it (posts, extension, pictures of city life/cuisine & entertainment, GIFs,

236

Yearbook 2018-2019

LC Patras poem ). Throughout the week the programme was stable apart from activities which were affected by the weather ( EcoTourism) and few moments throughout the city rally that it was sparkling but nothing serious. There were many organizers that haven’t traveled to an EESTEC Event, which led to a few fear and insecurity about the approach of people and about how time-consuming it would be. But we easily realized that our members are fully willing to enjoy EESTEC Spirit from the way they accompanied with the participants. One problem having to do with parties was that one day the police approached but we discussed with the pub responsible and tried to figure out the solution. And of course, there were different tastes about the parties that we tried to take into consideration as much as possible we could. Last but not least, we regret not offering the same bond to all of the participants because of some late arrivals because of job obligations and board elections, but after all we did many Ice Breaking Games and offered the same opportunities for entertainment, knowledge and communication with one another to every single participant. P.S.: We would like to mention that the participant Hamza Aksoy couldn’t manage to come to Patras’ event H.E.R.O. because of not having a valid VISA and taking this into

LC Patras consideration the moment of arrival in the Turkish Airport. We feel really pitty about this situation, but after all, we had asked for any Invitation letter needed to provide. P.S.2: We are waiting for some great events to come for EESTEC LC Patras and spread the EESTEC Spirit here!

LC Podgorica

About LC Podgorica

Local Committee Podgorica was officially accepted into full membership on EESTEC Congress in Delft, in 2000th year and it is the only local committee in Montenegro.

It currently has about 120 members. We are aware of the seriousness of our future calls as well as quality of knowledge we adopt at our university, but we believe that knowledge acquired by doing something practical is a big plus for future engineers, and it’s much easier to acquire knowledge through fun so we try to procure that to our members. Most of our members are active, and few of them are alumni members who helped us a lot in organizing our events. We organized different kind of events till now. Some events were with educational character - seminars about energetics and telecommunications, course of web programming, yearly charity events - charity action of collecting clothes, candies and school tools for children with disabilities from a local school, summer exchanges, motivational weekends and a workshop this summer.

EESTEC LC Podgorica is one of the most active student’s organization in Montenegro and has very good cooperation with similar organizations. We are planning to organize more projects which, we hope will be very interesting for our and students from other colleges.

Beauty and the Beach From August, 16th 2018 to August, 23rd 2018 Participants’ report Days spent in Montenegro are, without a doubt, among the best ones in my life. The organizers of Beauty and the Beach exchange made sure we got to see the best of what the country has to offer - from beaches and parties to historical monuments, cathedrals and old towns that to this day hold the spirit of the nation. It all started out nice and slow. On Friday we had plenty of time to rest, visit the beach and get to know each other. The organizers were always with us so we got used to everything easily and the participants all got along so it was fun from day one. As this evening was the first one when everyone was here, it was time for the city rally. We got to know the city, each other, and random strangers forced to participate in our challenges. On Saturday the organizers introduced us to the spiritual beginnings of Montenegro in Cetinje where we, in a very limited time, managed to visit the most important monuments. From there we climbed Lovcen to visit Mausoleum of Njegos and I believe every single one of us was left speechless by the view from up there. That evening was time for the famed "Boka night", a boat show of sorts after which some concerts were held in Kotor’s Old Town. Now, this was where EESTEC spirit showed the most, and where we got at least a hundred random people to join in on our dance game. Now the next day was, for some, probably the best one. During the day we went on a cruise trip and visited Perast. By this time all the participants and organizers were getting really close so spending those few hours together on a boat was pure enjoyment. This included magically appearing Vinjak, Haka in the sea, song, dance, getting proposed to for some, almost drowning for others, visiting a beautiful cathedral on a small island, beach time and so on. Then it was time for the International night, strange drinks and great food. Tired but oh so happy, the next day we had a trip to Budva and chilled at Jaz beach. We got plenty of rest and saw even more stunning parts of this country. By the end of that day, we knew that parties in Kotor were amazing, and mind you, we made them even better.

Yearbook 2018-2019

LC Podgorica After that, the organizers took us to Porto Montenegro and when we went back to Kotor we had the best time at the beach and even better at a party that night. The last day was there too soon. During the day, we relaxed and chilled at the beach and in the evening we took a walk on the walls of Kotor. This was an amazing experience, the view was simply stunning and Haka above the city was a proper way to mark it as EESTEC’s. I remember thinking how the city below us that night will always have a place in my heart, and how the people I met there became a part of me. From there, we moved to the beach and our farewell party. I can’t emphasize enough that this was my first EESTEC event and I had nothing but my friends’ stories to set my hopes and standards. As expected, they really were high and the team of LC Podgorica absolutely did not disappoint. After this, I can’t help but wonder did others fail to explain how their events went or were this really the best combination of place, time and people that ever happened to EESTEC? Another thank you and congratulations to the organizers, you gave us all a time to remember. Hopefully, we’ll be back!

Regional Meeting: the North From March, 18th 2018 to March, 23rd 2018 Participants’ report The idea of the live regional meeting in the northern region was born already during the first year of the regionalization project. However, no live meeting was organized that year so now everybody was waiting impatiently what LC Riga could offer to us. Our week in Riga started with some icebreaker games of course and the first evening was spent by playing board games so we had a nice relaxing start. Before we could start working on our actual agenda, Gunda, the trainer of LC Riga, gave us a few important training sessions on team building and communication skills. International awareness session provided by Paulina, our leader of the Northern region, was really useful for the fresh EESTECers of our region. During the first day, we had also a great opportunity to visit the office of Catchbox and see up close how a growing start-up works. In the evening everybody had fun with the traditional game Novus even though we couldn’t sharpen our skills enough to have the planned tournament. Next days we had many discussions and working sessions on the topics of recruitment, engagement, development and external relations. Each day, one of the LC’s in our region gave also a presentation on one of those topics so others could hear what was their situation at the moment. All the working sessions during the week were lead by Paulina, our lovely coordinator of the northern region. One of the bravest organizers was, of course, Gunta who spend almost the whole week with us. She took part in the working sessions and was also the one who was partying with us until the last minute. During the week our discussions took a bit funnier turn when you could see from everyone’s eyes that we had partied rather than slept. Sometimes people spent quite many minutes just laughing together. It was nice to realize that we had become a really great team in such a short time. All of the dinners we ate at Gunda’s apartment. There we could relax a bit before the parties and taste some delicious Latvian student meals. Before leaving to the IMW outside Riga, we visited Schneider Electric and saw there how the mounting of components on PCBs with different automation technologies worked.

LC Riga For the IMW we drove outside Riga to a cool guest house by a small pond. Perfect ending for a really nice and unforgettable week in Riga. During the IMW we were introduced to Latvian sauna culture and the bravest ones went for a swim into the pond. International night was great as always, and during the last night, the toughest ones refused to go to sleep so we played games together until morning. Thank you LC Riga for organizing such a great event. Antti Peltotalo LC Tampere

10th T4T From March, 14th 2018 to March, 23rd 2018 Participants’ report Report from Marina Obrenovic (participant): Without any doubt, I can say that this is my favorite event of all. Probably every participant of T4T will tell you the same thing. This experience was incredible. We spent 12 days in beautiful Sarajevo, working all day on improving EESTEC and ourselves. This event is one of the most intense one, after 8 hours of training and working sessions we had 2 hours for reflections groups that were very emotional for us. The organizers were flexible, they were helping us with every single thing that we needed, and they rearranged every activity according to our needs. Due to the long period of working, on some night we just wanted to relax and chill with each other, and we could do it in the big common room, where we played guitar, or just talk, laugh and enjoy ourselves. I have made lifelong friendships on this event and learned so much about myself, and it really gave me a new dimension of EESTEC, and I am proud to be called EESTEer, because I have seen almost all the aspects of our Associations, and I love it even more after this marvelous event.

Organisers’ report T4T Report or ”It was always more about people than anything else!” ”The only thing we ever have is NOW! ” The living proof of this sentence was our amazing participants during 10th T4T. From day zero until the very end they’ve shown incredible passion and will, not just to survive the event, but to overcome themselves and achieve all their goals. Having reliable crew as OC, and that excellent pax led to one of a kind jubilee of T4T. Academic part spread along the whole day, and even some learning things they needed to do during the night, didn’t stop our participants in hanging out with each other and with organizers and creating the strong bond among each other. The best part of everything is that one more time EESTEC proved that it is one big family who accepts everyone into its hug. When we think now

LC Tampere

About LC Tampere LC Tampere is one of the founding members of EESTEC and has been in EESTEC since its very beginning in 1986. At the beginning of 2000 LC Tampere became an independent club to serve Computer Science and Electrical Engineering students alike. In the Autumn 2017 we were happy to organize another great event Reshaping Reality. Our local activities at the moment are random hangouts, sauna evenings, and as a new concept we are having weekly coffee hours in our club room. During summer we have of course our summer gathering where we go to a cottage by a lake and have a fun weekend together. One important step for our LC is to become a registered organization, since the two universities in Tampere are fusing together. LC Tampere is still staying strong in the north!

Wappu Exchange From April, 26th 2018 to May, 2nd 2018 Participants’ report Tampere exchange event was my fist EESTEC exchange event. With that in mind, it was also the first official EESTEC event (excluding IMW) where I could have as much as rest as I wanted. Mainly this was due to a really flexible schedule, and a common "interest" with all participants Besides the sleeping, I would also mention a really well-planned logistics as we had an average of 10 minute walks from point A to point B (and I might be exaggerating).

258

Yearbook 2018-2019

LC Tampere The food was good although sometimes it was not well distributed through the day (food every 2-3 hours). In the end, I felt most of the times we’ll be fed Accommodation was mixed genders, but we were asked in advance about that. I can say that I had better accommodation on EESTEC events before, but I also can’t say any bad things about that one. We slept in a rented apartment with multiple bunk beds in each room. We had to bring bed sheets and we were noticed about it. The parties were not the best as on some nights we had to make parties by ourselves. But the 2 parties which were in the Tampere city, they were just... To simply put... Awesome! 2 or 3 nights we spent in faculty basement club rooms where we mostly played beer pong and drank cheap beer One of the best highlights were also sauna chill-outs. I went to the sauna 3 times during the event (+1 before the event as I arrived one day earlier). Daily activities were sometimes very interesting sometimes not that much. I was very satisfied with the Finnish sport (which name I forgot - the one where you throw some kind of wood thing to towers and these towers must drop out of the field). The "Harry Potter game" on the other hand was too exhausting for an EESTECer with a hangover. Of course, there were also the highlights like dipping and capping. I felt quite accepted in a community of students of the university and I met many new non-EESTECers from there and that is also a plus for me. In conclusion, this event offered an enormous amount of free time and also a unique experience of a Tampere student during the Wappu time where you can attend many interesting and crazy events.

LC Thessaloniki

About LC Thessaloniki

It all started from Konstantinos our former chairman, when he brought the idea of EESTEC to Thessaloniki in September 2015. A year fast forward and Konstantinos alongside Mariana, Athina and Giannis are our first ever board ready to lift our then observer of the ground. The first thing to help us achieve that was our first ever International workshop "App Wars - The JAVA Awakens" which took place in 2-9 of April in 2017 with 12 EESTECers and 12 local participants.App Wars was soon followed by an amazing Motivational Day, a successful recruitment and our first ever SSA in November with trainings focused on self- development and leadership. After all these when the Autumn Congress arrived in Zagreb we couldn’t contain our happiness nor our eagerness to become an LC.There we all felt as a small but equally important part of an amazing family and got our hopes high for the future. From that point and on we had our new board elections, handover sessions and an amazing Motivational Day where new and older members bonded together even more. Finally jumping to today we can’t not mention the effort and hard work almost everyone in our committee has put in the organization of our second event PrinterStellar that will take place this May. We are all very excited and looking forward for this experience. This alongside the fact that our committee either through members, annual teams or local events keeps growing and getting every day stronger than the day before makes us hopeful and eager to see what we can achieve. We might have a long way to go but we are ready for this challenge!

LC Thessaloniki

PrinterStellar From May, 6th 2018 to May, 13th 2018 Participants’ report When I first realized I was going to Printer Stellar I was oh so excited. I have heard stories from my friends about how great people in Thessaloniki were, but boy were my expectations exceeded. From my arrival to the day I left, I was surrounded by awesome people from LC Thessaloniki that were doing their best to provide us with everything we needed. If I had to rate everything out of 10, I would say it’s 11/10. The people in Greece are so warm and welcoming, the food is amazing and made with love and people party similarly to us in Serbia, which is a big plus! I can say with no doubt, that the week spent in Thessaloniki was one of the greatest weeks of my life.I met so many new people, that I am proud to call my friends, I’ve explored the city and had a chance to enjoy the rich history and culture deeply rooted everywhere. And on top of everything I learned a lot of new thing about 3D printing, so the trip was a complete experience. I am definitely having no regrets and I am so grateful that LC Thessaloniki’s Printer Stellar was my first international workshop.

Organisers’ report PrinterStellar was organized in May 2018 and was the second workshop of our LC. We faced a few difficulties- lack of experience being one of them- while organising it but we finally managed it. We had 12 amazing eestecers from around Europe participating in it and meeting all of them made us think that all our effort was worth it. The event took place at G-CODE Workspace as well as the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. As far as the academic part is concerned we had sessions regarding 3D Printing, 3D Scanning and Laser Cutting. Our participants learned how to use a graphic algorithm, Grasshopper, and with imagination and cuttingedge technology, they had the opportunity to create their own 3D objects. Moreover, during the event’s free time, the participants had the opportunity to explore Thessaloniki, a city with a lot of history, great places to visit and a buzzing city

LC Thessaloniki center. We really hope that they had fun and saw what greek culture is all about, with amazing food like gyros, we tried our best on that. Generally the organizing committee of "PrinterStellar" consisted of 4 sub teams; Academic, Fundraising, Logistic and Public Relations’ Team, each consisting of around 8 members.

LC Trieste

About LC Trieste EESTEC LC Trieste was born in our city from an idea based on the drive to socialize, to strive for knowledge and internationalization and EESTEC International delivers those values to all its members. Let’s travel back in time to the year 2000, when the new millennium started. In the reports of the EESTEC Congress in Delft of that year is hidden our "certificate of birth": Observer Trieste was born on 22nd march 2000 thanks to Danko Tomasic and Marko Nikolic, creating the first core of our group, officially presented by LC Rijeka. The next year the EESTEC Congress in London gave us the rank of "LC" and we officially joined the big family: it was the beginning of a big but not easy adventure. The first years were the most difficult, as may happen to any students’ association: we had to create the "brand" of our LC, make us known in the university ambient, to the students (initially just electronic engineering and computer science) and the municipality. All of that while organizing some events, increasing the number of participants on each event, gathering LC members and meeting with other EESTECers in the international area. The year 2006 was a year of change, when a new board decided to insert the organization even more in the academic ambient, creating closer networks with professors, the IEEE local organization and making the basic international part of EESTEC happen. It was the group led by Arling Doberdolani, which in the three years following, brought "Wake up for Bavisela" to life, the first locally organized international event. It was somehow a heroic event for the adaptability, initiative and will of realizing something important with very limited budgets. The shared ideal of getting in contact with other ambients, cultures and making international friends was the driving force for all the organizers. Another big year was 2012 when Erni Durdevic and his very active group were hungry for action and experience, so they performed a burocratic change in the statutes of our association: we switched from a simple student group to a fully legally accepted Cultural Association. Some big workshops on the computer science topic were made and the first really big locally organized international event took place (1st EESTEC Summer School - 2012) with the support of some

270

Yearbook 2018-2019

LC Trieste big regional companies. All those successes were the first big result of years of students believing in our work and in what EESTEC could bring to them. But we didn’t stop there, since the next year EESTEC LC Trieste expanded its world by becoming officially an Association of Social Promotion, breaking the record of 15 members, organizing another international technical event (2nd EESTEC Summer School - 2013) and organizing and participating to more local events like the Mini Maker Faire Trieste, the first Arduino workshops and a workshop about the EFT technique to reduce the stress of the exam sessions. The last international event was a big news for us since it was not technical (Game of Teams) but about Soft Skills, the necessary and never taught set of abilities to understand how humans work together and how to do it without creating conflicts and maximizing the team efficiency. Two years ago we have broken into some difficulties: a lot of our active EESTECers had left the LC and for this reason our hopeful event EESTEChef had failed. Nevertheless this situation don’t make us discourage and thanks to a heavy and well organised work of engagement we bacame stronger than before. Actually our Board is the youngest ever seen in LC Trieste and we hope this would be a powerful resourse for the LC. In the last year we had organised some projects, among which there is the season 2 of our successful event:Game of Teams and now we are focusing to solve our strenghtless points and to organising a new technical event. Here’s our story, that’s how we become who we are. Now... we are waiting for you! If you’re interested in meeting us and enjoing our city applicate applicate applicate to our exiting events!

About LC Tuzla

While they were on International Electrical Engineering Students Gathering, widely known as Elektrijada, which had taken place in Ohrid in 2006 , Jasmina Nalic and Hajrija Jahic have come across to an idea for establishing EESTEC in Tuzla. Members of the LC Rijeka had big part in planting that idea. After that, "The Observer Team Tuzla", which was led by Jasmina Nalic and Marina Benes, has been registered. We became Junior LC on the Congress in Budapest in 2007 , where we were represented by Hajrija Jahic. The members of the first board were: Hajrija Jahic - Chairwoman, Mirza Becirbasic - Vice-Chairman, Laris Maglic - Treasurer, Jasmina Nalic - Contact Person, Samir Mesic - Fundraising, Irvin Hot - Web Designer, with the help of our most active members: Marina Benes, Kresic Igor, Zlatko Alomerovic, Senad Karic, Sandra Hasanovic, Semir Karic, Admir Mujkic, Nadin Dizdarevic, Mirza Nakicevic, Jahic Jasmin, Amela Begic, Amer Bosnjic, Anida Mumic etc. Thanks to their dedication and hard work, the EESTEC spirit and idea has been spread among new generations, and we have become full-fledged local committee. The first workshop, organised by LC Tuzla, was held on 3rd to 10th July 2007, under the name "Linux as an alternative". This is followed by "GIS & GPS" in 2009, "IPTV-The Next Generation TV" in 2011, "EESTEChnology" in 2013 and "SmarTech - Android Projects" in 2016. Today EESTEC LC Tuzla counts about 70 members, and with each day, this number is growing, alongside with EESTEC spirit.

LC Xanthi

About LC Xanthi LC Xanthi was founded by two graduate students from Democritus University of Thrace studying Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2010. We became a JLC in 2013 and a LC the year after. Since 2010, new members are joining our Commitment every year. By organizing or taking part in seminars and events, they have managed to develop themselves and the Commitment, as well as learn useful and practical things for their lives. By the end of this year, we will have organized five International Workshops, one Exchange, one HOBOM and one WiBOM. At a local level, we have organized four "UniDay", two "CareerDay" and two "Soft Skills Academy (SSA)", all with great success! Apart from all that, in EESTEC we have become a family where love, solidarity and mutual contribution have created a miniature of an ideal world. Our goal is to continue spreading the EESTEC spirit both locally and internationally for years to come.

3D Blinders From May, 13th 2018 to May, 20th 2018 Participants’ report Have you ever heard about Peaky Blinders? We haven’t! But! Lc Xanthi and their amazing 3D Blinders workshop create for us an alternative world. For one week, we could feel an amazing atmosphere, here - in Xanthi, the city of 1000 colors.

LC Xanthi From the beginning, organizers were very kind for us. We could feel how much they care about the event and their 10 participants. During our workshops, we had an opportunity to see how the 3D printer works, but also we could have build one on our own. Antonis and his team were prepared very well! We are really impressed by their knowledge and the way how they shared it with us. They planned everything perfectly! Our hotel, every day another meal in plenty of different places, our stay was full of surprises, but how did they do the City Rally!? :o We will remember these few hours for our entire life! Whole Lc Xanthi was involved to prepare it for us! What are We saying!? We felt like every inhabitant was there for us! We have never had so much fun! <3 Our evenings were fully filled with fun. Every night we had a party in different places. During these parties, we could have to make a lot of new friends and relax. We remembered International Night in particular, but every single party was great. And then we had IMW - can you imagine? There were many attractions: biking, flying fox, climbing, canoeing, and archery. The most important was that We could just chill with our new friends and have fun! Even in the hotel, in the night Thomai was playing guitar and singing for us with her lovely voice. Michalis was trying to, but please don’t do it again! Perfect ending of our stay in Xanthi was a beer shower in the center of mine square. Huge thanks to you guys! We are waiting for your next event! Karol and Mateusz

Organisers’ report Last year’s International Workshop organized by LC Xanthi was 3D Blinders. As revealed by the the name, our main topic was 3D printing and during the event we covered three topics regarding that. We started from the basics. We Covered 3D printing principals , we examined techniques on how it works, we took a close look on the materials and summed it all up while focusing on the potential of a printer based on its price. The next step was to make our own DIY 3D printer with the participants. We showed them how you can make a printer more functional by utilizing 3D printed components, more electronics and more informal tricks.

Yearbook 2018-2019

LC Xanthi Our final project was to create an online system based on a Raspberry Pi, in order to control our printer remotely by using an online database. Summarizing the whole event, the goal was to optimize an affordable 3D printer and maximize its potential. Of course from an International event we wouldn’t exclude the fun part. Many nights out, a rad International night and an IMW on the near mountain were what wrapped up 3D Blinders. -LC Xanthi

Beeruminati From May, 13th 2018 to May, 20th 2018 Participants’ report This spring, LC Zagreb organized the exchange called "Beeruminati". This exchange was about beauties of Zagreb and Croatia. When I applied, I didn’t know what to expect from this event, but I was so surprised at the end of the week. But let’s start from the beginning. LC Zagreb could make something really mystical. They could manage to connect a lot of programs, sightseeing, parties and the most important thing, the

LC Zagreb EESTEC spirit. From the beginning of the event, sitting in the small hostel room and singing popular songs with my new mates, I’ve realized that it is going to be one of the best EESTEC week in my life. The different every day’s programs were interesting, excited and motivational. In Zagreb, we’ve visited the "Museum of Broken Relationships" and "Museum of Illusions". Both were nice as a cultural and funny part of the event. After, we had a chance to visit one of the best European zoos, the Zagreb’s Zoo. Every day we also enjoyed the traditions of this country through its food and drinks. The organizers could understand and produce what we needed at most. Familiarity with this country and a local committee was one of the best things of the week. Behind of the cultural part, we had very well organized International night and City Rally. At the international night, the place was full of EESTECers, it was huge and had enough place for everyone. Internationality was in everyone and that night we understood what means a world without borders. City Rally was full of fun, tasks were funny and interesting. Usually, the people don’t have a chance to be proud of swimming in the European capital city’s fountain, but we have. Besides of Zagreb, we had the chance to visit different places. One of them was the beautiful Plitvice lakes, the most popular Croatian national park. We had a day full of activities, tours by foot, bus and boat. Another day we managed to climb the Sljeme. The task was a little bit hard, but the view worth it at all. On the weekend we visited the see, for most of us the first time in the year. We had a lot of fun, smiles, and music that day. We understood what the Croatian sea means. I’m pretty sure, that this was very important for the EESTEC because it’s motivated its members. Now we’re able to bring home and guide to the right channel all the experience and inspiration we had. I’m very grateful for this opportunity and for the organizers’ work and energy. With their strong bonds and unexpected gratitude, they made something really important for all of us. And we won’t forget it. Best regards, Krisztian Szilvasi P.S. Have you ever heard about the event where someone dyed their hair? Because in Zagreb seven of us did it. That’s just something about spirit, I’ve talked about.

LC Zurich

About LC Zurich EESTEC LC Zurich is legally and practically a part of the AMIV; the students guild representing mechanical and electrical engineering students at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich). The members of our LC are mechanical and electrical engineering students at ETH. The external representative of EESTEC LC Zurich is the chairperson, while contact with other LC’s in Europe and EESTEC International is kept by the Contact Person (CP). Depending on the task, workgroups are formed to take care of events and workshop. Our chairperson calls for a member meeting at least every two weeks where we cook and eat dinner together and talk about news and projects. That way, there are always interesting challenges for everybody interested in joining EESTEC LC Zurich! In the last year, we organised one international Workshop: From 3rd till 10th of December we hosted the workshop "Balloon Adventures in Low Level Space". The workshop addressed the so far unique topic of high altitude ballooning. The participants added sensors to an Arduino board and then programmed it to measure and save the data. At the end of the week the participants sent the balloon on it’s journey where it got lost in the mountains in Austria. Of course, the workshop also offered a diverse cultural and evening program. Besides the almost mandatory city rally, tram party and International Night they also got to enjoy various parties and other activities. Furthermore, the subsequent weekend in the Alps is a must for all LC Zurich workshops - participants and organisers have to recover after a very exhausting week. Our local events during the past year included the visit of LC Ljubljana’s IMW, a presentation of the project created at the workshop in Tampere, EESTech Chal-

TAKASHI’S CASTLE From May, 11th 2018 to May, 13th 2018 Organisers’ report Workshops are a learning experience for participants and organizers alike. The main lesson we learned this time, is that you need a competent OC, motivated locals and a good bit of luck. While things started off a bit chaotic, with some OC posts missing, the OC made up for it with some people doing double/triple shifts. Also, we were very lucky that some labs and professors agreed to partake in our academic part, even if the request came on short notice. This helped us to make the workshop the success it was. The week started with a company visit by KPMG followed by a lab tour on Monday. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the participants got time to discuss the situation of women in engineering fields in each other’s country as well as in Switzerland during Q &A rounds with successful female ETH professors. The afternoons were filled with more lab tours. We also invited Dalia as a trainer, who held two Soft Skill Training together with our local trainer Philipp Butschle. On Friday we concluded the official workshop with a city tour by Zurich tourism and a short sightseeing tour in Luzern, on the way to our IMW "Takashi’s Castle".

LC Zurich While things sometimes got chaotic during the week, a mixture of luck and the willingness of the OC/locals to put in the extra effort and make some sacrifices enabled us to keep things under control and conduct a relatively smooth workshop. All in all, it was a great experience and we hope the participants enjoyed it as much as we did.

We would like to introduce you our Observer Saint-Petersburg, the only one existing in Russia. It is located in Saint-Petersburg and was established in one of the top universities in Russia - Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, in 2018. Based on the past experience we would like to restart this project in order to increase its efficiency and popularity. So, let us tell you what we’ve already made for its success. It all started in spring 2018, when Tatiana Novitskaya got contacts of Andriana Takic (our current Angel by the way). And soon after that, things started to happen! Our representative, one of the founders-Vitaly Makhiboroda, spontaneously visited first for our Observer EESTEC Congress in Krakow. A few members joined us and Julia Kamzina went to the traditional exchange by LC Ankara #occupyMarmaris. It was the coolest event she has ever visited! Few more members, few more events visited! And after the Autumn Congress in Budapest we became so motivated and started working hard.

As UCD counts more than 90 student societies our decision was not to add to this already large number, but instead join an already well-established society. This was achieved after the first year of our existence when we unofficially joined the UCD Electrical and Electronic Engineering Society. After a successful year of collaboration on various academic, networking and social events the two groups decided to merge officially which happened on the UCD Electrical & Electronic Engineering Society’s Annual General Meeting in April 2019. This decision helped grow EESTEC presence in UCD and its stability. During the past year, we organized several events. TechSesh 18 (Technology Sessions 2018) being the one we are the proudest of. TechSesh 18 was the first student-led career networking fair in UCD. Eight companies decided to show their presence and deliver talks and presentations while over two hundred students attended the event and used the opportunity to meet the representatives of these companies. We also organized several social events such as a few night outs and a pub quiz for team building.

Observer Duisburg engineering into something fun and interesting! In the beginning, it was pretty difficult to recruit people into our committee. It was even difficult for some of our own members to grasp the concept of the EESTEC organization. But as time passes, traction has been slowly gained in our University and we even managed to spark the interest of some of our local companies into sponsoring our ever so tiny committee. Our most significant event so far has to be the EESTech Challenge. This was also one of the most challenging task we had to endure as, at the time not a lot of people were interested in the event. This in turn made us fear that we would not have any participants for the event. But through dedication, hard work and motivation we managed to have 5 teams consisting of 3 people participating in the challenge and in the end it turned out to be a fairly successful event for both participants and organizers. The Challenge has thought us to remain united and never lose motivation even if the situation may seem bleak. We are eager to expand our circle of influence in the foreseeable future and will ensure that Observer Duisburg will remain for years to come. Yours Truly, Observer Duisburg

During the IMW we also cooperated with ESN Lappeenranta to host an academic table party for the local ESN members and for our guests.

Observer Valencia Valencia is one of the currently 9 Observers, born at Autumn Congress in Zagreb (November 2017), after having met members from other Commitments who introduced us to EESTEC, and motivated us to start the Observer! The majority of us are from the Telecommunication’s Engineering Faculty of the UPV (Polytechnical University of Valencia), where we have established our base. During this academic year, we have accomplished quite a lot! We have been in several student and job fairs, to let students and companies know that we are also here! The most important event we have organized (besides the (un)official meetings we enjoy together every month), was the EC Local Round, which took place at the beginning of April. It was not easy to find sponsors since we are a young organization here in Valencia and local companies had not heard about us yet, but finally, everything went perfect. Wisdom, imagination and of course, a lot of food and drinks, were present during the whole day and the results were for all of the participants satisfying. One important step of this year for EESTEC Valencia has been the registration of the association in the public institutions and the recognition as a student’s association by the University. We expect to keep growing inside EESTEC and drive the Mediterranean stu-
