Buoyancy

Buoyant force is an upward force that fluids exert on any object that is placed in them. The ability of fluids to exert this force is called buoyancy. Weight is a measure of the force of gravity pulling down on an object, whereas buoyant force pushes up on an object

My design uses biomimicry, inspired by the buoyant force which is acted upon lilypad’s in water. The representation of this in my seating design shows how it sits upon the water. The tilt of the design shows the gravitational pull down back it the water. The ability to sit up this piece portrays how wildlife would use lily pads for habitat, rest and shelter.
