Aunque la trascendencia mediante el verbo esté al alcance de muy pocos, como es el caso de Shakespeare, cada año intentamos hacer una revista más completa. Eso significa que intentamos pensar mejor, y sobretodo, decir con mayor tino. Esta es la idea que subyace en la quinta edición de la revista Gomez & Molina Joyeros, en la cual, hablamos con la máxima precisión posible de aquello que mejor conocemos: las joyas y los relojes. Lo nuevo es relativo porque dejar de serlo, pero un engastado técnicamente complejo o un tourbillon de estructura novedosa deben permanecer para siempre en la memoria de los buenos aficionados. Por ello, analizamos cómo rompen moldes manufacturas tan prestigiosas como Bovet o Greubel Forsey; también explicamos la historia de marcas joyeras como Messika y Fred, cuyo buen gusto y exigencia cualitativa son máximos. Obviamente, no descuidamos la dimensión estética de unos objetos que, si los mimamos, nos acompañarán toda una vida. Por primera vez, hemos realizado un exclusivo bodegón para los guarda tiempos de Patek Philippe, así como una sesión fotográfica en la cual mostramos la colección de relojes y joyas de Gomez & Molina Joyeros. Por supuesto, como es habitual, la revista se completa con un buen número de secciones lifestyle. Hemos tenido la suerte de entrevistar a Olivia de Borbón; les invitamos también a viajar descubrir Vietnam, un país de contrastes y gran belleza. Por su parte, los amantes del motor descubrirán una edición muy especial del famoso Shelby Cobra, mientras que los melómanos sabrán cómo se gestó la canción My girl. ‘I’ve got sunshine on a cloudy day…’

“My words fly up, my thoughts remain below. Words without thoughts never to heaven go.” Although transcendence through the verb is within the grasp of very few, as is the case of Shakespeare, each year we try to make a more complete magazine. This means we try to think better and, most importantly, to say things with more finesse. This is the idea behind the fifth edition of the Gomez & Molina magazine, in which we discuss as accurately as possible the things we know best: jewellery and watches. What is new is relative, because it ceases to be so; but a technically complex setting or a tourbillon with an innovative structure should forever remain in the memory of great aficionados. That is why we analyse how watch manufacturers as prestigious as Bovet and Greubel Forsey break with tradition, and we also explain the history of jewellery brands like Messika and Fred, whose good taste and quality demands are unsurpassed. And we obviously do not neglect the aesthetic side of objects which, if we care for them, will accompany us for a lifetime. For the first time, we have created an exclusive arrangement for Patek Philippe timepieces, and we conducted a photo shoot where we show off the collection of watches and jewellery at Gomez & Molina. Of course, as usual, the magazine is rounded out with a number of lifestyle sections. We were lucky enough to interview Olivia de Borbón. We also invite you to travel to Vietnam, a country of contrasts and great beauty. An interesting fact: his relationship with cinema has continued practically till today, as can be seen by Pretty Woman (1990) fans. We once again find a beautiful story to understand why it was built. This small Buddhist temple dates back to the 11th century, heritage of the L˝ dynasty. Emperor Ly Thai TÙng had no heirs, but he dreamt that he met the bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara who was sitting on a lotus flower when she handed him a baby son. The next day, the leader met a peasant girl, who he courted and with whom he eventually had the son he so desired. L˝ Th·i TÙng decided to build the pagoda in gratitude to the deity. Las principales atracciones turísticas de Hanoi no deben alejarlo de lo más importante: el día a día de la ciudad. Vale realmente la pena acercarse al barrio antiguo. En sus callejuelas se pone en

Los bajos de las casas están ocupados por paradas que regentan familias enteras, que además suelen vivir justo encima de ella. Exponen su producto sobre la acera; la refrigeración pasa a un segundo plano porque la mayoría de la oferta que tienen es fresca. Todo es color y olor. Uno puede encontrar arroz de todo tipo, por no hablar de la variedad de frutas, verduras, legumbres o carne. ¿Se atreverían a comer medusa roja o gusanos de seda? Aquí lo pueden hacer. Desde el mercado, donde verán a transportistas sobre una Vespino cargada con siete u ocho fardos, pueden llegar al famoso puente Long Bien. Fue el primer puente de acero que se levantó sobre el río Rojo y es uno de los grandes símbolos de la resistencia vietnamita ante las acometidas de los norteamericanos. La pasarela fue bombardeada -casualmente, la construyeron las firmas francesas Deydé y Pillé- debido a su posición estratégica, ya que en ese momento conectaba Hanoi con el puerto de Haiphong. Desde él, se obtienen imágenes idílicas, a la par que curiosas de la capital. Bajo la estructura metálica llena de óxido hay campesinos trabajando incansablemente; sobre ella, parejas hacen su reportaje pre-boda con las aguas del río Rojo de fondo. Llega la noche y es el momento de tomar una Bia Hoy, la típica cerveza de la capital, hecha de arroz. Así que… ¡Salud! O como dirían aquí: Zo!

Sapa, la tierra de los infinitos arrozales Si tienen tiempo, deben ir a las montañas de Sapa, situadas a 300 Km al norte de Hanoi. Sin duda, lo más divertido es ir en tren. Justamente al lado del puente de Long Bien se encuentra la estación ferroviaria de la capital, desde la cual podrán tomar una especie de Orient Express que les dejará en Lào Cai, 8 horas después. Desde allí, en autobús, faltan 34 km para llegar a Sapa, en la Cordillera de Lien Hoang Son, cerca de la frontera de China. Su situación estratégica llevó a los franceses en 1880 a establecer una base militar alterando la tranquila vida de los habitantes de la zona; hoy en día se ha convertido en uno de los puntos más visitados del país. La ciudad está situada en un valle rodeado de espectaculares bancales de arroz que descienden por las laderas de las montañas donde viven hasta ocho etnias diferentes.

Sapa, the land of endless rice paddies If you have time, you shouldn’t miss the mountains of Sapa located 300 km north of Hanoi. There’s no doubt that the most fun way to get there is by train. Just on the other side of the Long Bien Bridge is the capital’s railway station, from which you can take a sort of Orient Express that will leave you in Lào Cai eight hours later. From there, there is another 34 km bus ride to reach Sapa in the Lien Hoang Son Mountain Range near the Chinese border. Its strategic location led the French to establish a military base here in 1880, thus altering the peaceful life of the area’s inhabitants. Today it has become one of the most visited spots in the country. The town is located in a valley surrounded by spectacular rice terraces that descend down the slopes of the mountains, which are home to up to eight different ethnic groups.
