If he said this, no doubt, it’s because he honestly believed it.

And it is so true; of this we are sure. Following your dreams is what we’ve always done at Rafael Torres, since our great-grandfather began this wonderful journey 120 years ago. After all this time, we are still here, standing on solid ground, continuing to work hard to make our customers and friends understand how exciting the world of jewellery and watches is.

Después de todo este tiempo seguimos en pie, con firmeza, luchando todavía por hacer partícipes a todos nuestros clientes y amigos de lo apasionante que es el mundo de las joyas y los relojes.

Rafael Torres Una tradición joyera de 120 años La historia de la Joyería Rafael Torres se resume en una sola palabra: pasión. Eso es justamente lo que impulsó a D. Rafael Torres Babí, quien tras heredar un negocio joyero de su tía, en el año 1896, inauguraba la saga familiar.

Se estableció en la antigua calle Zaragoza, 9 (actualmente Plaza de la Reina), que desembocaba en la Catedral de Valencia y era la avenida más comercial de la época. En ese pequeño local comenzaba una trayectoria de éxito, de la cual ya formaba parte la segunda generación de la saga, encabezada por D. Rafael Torres Albalate, que se incorporaba en 1925. Allí se fabricaron las más bellas piezas de joyería hasta 1936, año en que comienza la Guerra Civil, provocando incluso la paralización de las obras de la nueva tienda, proyectada en el número 5 de la Calle Paz. Al finalizar el conflicto en 1939, el propio Rafael Torres Babí inauguraba el espacio diseñado unos años antes; desde entonces, la sede de la compañía se encuentra allí. Seis años más tarde, el fundador fallecía, dejando paso a su hijo. Este llevaría las riendas del negocio hasta que, desgraciadamente, murió de forma prematura en 1952. En ese instante, Dª Mª Josefa de Goytia Shuck, su viuda, se ponía al frente de la empresa junto a dos de sus hijas. Gracias a su excelente labor, la joyería afianzaba su prestigio y en 1958 ampliaba el equipo incorporando al hijo menor, D. Rafael Torres de Goytia, un joven de tan solo 20 años que ya estaba preparado tras una larga estancia en el extranjero. Con él, la boutique se consolida en el sector de la Alta Joyería, siendo el primer y único comercio especializado de toda la ciudad que compra los diamantes directamente en Amberes, sin intermediarios. Sin duda, esta fue una apuesta de éxito. De este modo, la compañía tenía más control sobre la calidad del producto y conocía de primera mano las últimas tendencias, reduciendo así el riesgo de sus operaciones. Desde entonces, Rafael Torres siempre ha usado piedras de color E/F VS1 para las tallas pequeñas; y G-VS1 para las piedras grandes. Con estos estándares de calidad, la empresa se convirtió en un referente en la comercialización del diamante en Valencia. Nuevas generaciones, nuevos caminos La tienda sigue evolucionando hasta llegar a los años 90’, que es cuando se incorporan progresivamente los miembros de la cuarta generación Torres: Alicia, Javier y Rafael. Es en su propio taller donde diseñan y crean hermosas colecciones y joyas por encargo, realizadas a la medida del cliente, con el gusto más exquisito y los mejores diamantes. Con ellos, el negocio mantiene su esencia y sabe nutrirse de las herramientas de un sector que evoluciona y demanda nuevas formas de gestión, producción y comunicación. Solo hay un elemento innegociable: la pasión que puso el bisabuelo de la familia un siglo antes. Producto de esa inquietud y esas ganas por innovar, la compañía incorpora a su oferta la Alta Relojería, una especialidad que le permite ampliar y rejuvenecer la base de sus clientes. Desde entonces y hasta hoy, la empresa no ha dejado de evolucionar, siempre con la bandera de la calidad como emblema. Fiel reflejo de ese espíritu es la impresionante reforma del local llevada a cabo en 2016, que sienta las bases para un futuro prometedor y lleno de nuevos proyectos que esta gran familia joyera sabrá llevar a cabo, por varias generaciones más.

The history of Joyería Rafael Torres can be summed up in a single word: passion. This is precisely what drove Rafael Torres Babí, who, after inheriting the jewellery business from his aunt in 1896, opened the family saga.

It was located at number 9 of the former Calle Zaragoza (now Plaza de la Reina), which led to the Cathedral of Valencia and was the busiest shopping street at the time. In this small establishment sprouted a journey of success, which had already been joined by the second generation of the saga, headed by Rafael Torres Albalate, who became part of the business in 1925. The most beautiful pieces of jewellery were manufactured here until 1936, the year in which the Spanish Civil War began, an event that even caused works on the new shop to be opened at number 5 Calle Paz to come to a halt. When the conflict ended in 1939, Rafael Torres Babí himself inaugurated the space that had been designed several years earlier. The company’s headquarters has been located there since then. The founder passed away six years later, thus allowing his son to take the reins. His son ran the business until he sadly died at an early age in 1952. At this time Mª Josefa de Goytia Shuck, his widow, took charge of the company alongside two of their daughters. Owing to their excellent work, the jewellery shop gained in prestige, and in 1958 the business expanded with the incorporation of their youngest son, Rafael Torres de Goytia, a young 20-year-old man who was ready to contribute after a long time spent abroad. With him, the shop made a name for itself in the High Jewellery industry, becoming the first and only specialised business in the entire city to buy diamonds directly in Antwerp, without middlemen. This was without doubt a successful decision. The company thus had more control over product quality and learned firsthand about the latest trends, hence reducing the risk of its activity. Since then, Rafael Torres has always used E/F VS1 colour stones for

small cuts and G-VS1 for large cuts. With these quality standards, the company has become a benchmark in the selling of diamonds in Valencia. New generations, new roads The shop continued to evolve until the 1990s, when the business was progressively joined by the fourth generation of the Torres family: Alicia, Javier and Rafael. It is in the jewellery shop’s own workshop where they design and create beautiful collections and custom-made pieces made-to-order for the customer with the most exquisite taste and the best diamonds. With the new additions to the business, the company had managed to retain its essence while strengthening itself with the tools of an evolving industry that requires new forms of management, production and communication. There is only one non-negotiable element: the passion put forth by the family’s great-grandfather one century before. As a result of this restlessness and desire to innovate, the company included High Jewellery in its offerings, a speciality allowing it to expand and rejuvenate its customer base. Since then and until today, the company has never ceased to evolve, while always retaining quality as a signature trait. An accurate reflection of this spirit is the impressive refurbishment of the premises completed in 2016, a refurbishment that sets the stage for a promising future full of new projects that this grand jewellery making family will know how to carry out for several generations longer.

UNA MIRADA HACIA EL fUTURO La compañía celebra el 120º aniversario con una espectacular reforma de su tienda que combina la estética vanguardista de la Nueva York de los años 50 con algunos elementos de madera del siglo XIX.

Como vemos en la fotografía, la adecuación del espacio ha realzado la belleza de la escalera y los muebles de madera, diseñados a finales del siglo XIX.

De 1896 a 2016, ¿cómo trazar una línea para unir ambas fechas? Dado que no existe ninguna máquina del tiempo que nos ofrezca la posibilidad de dar semejante paseo, lo mejor es hacer explícita la trayectoria de la compañía mediante una renovación de sus espacios. Hacerlo y explicarlo, obviamente. Queríamos celebrar nuestro120º aniversario con una puesta a punto de nuestra boutique, situada en la céntrica Calle de la Paz. Para ello, le encargamos la reforma a Carlos Serra, fundador del célebre estudio Mercader de Indias y uno de los mejores interioristas del país. Teníamos un claro objetivo: crear un nuevo espacio que fusionara nuestra historia con un estilo más vanguardista. El resultado, a nuestro juicio, es fantástico. Había que resaltar aquellos elementos que definen nuestra identidad y que le dan prestancia al local, como los muebles de caoba maciza con pan de oro auténtico, de los años 30’; y el espectacular conjunto formado por una gran boiserie y una escalera de madera de finales del siglo XIX. Lo hemos logrado, eso sí, combinando todo este preciado patrimonio con materiales y acabados más actuales. Las paredes, en color piedra, se han decorado con piezas de piel cuadradas y papel de la colección Wallcoverings de Armani, así como también con espejos biselados que cubren una pared de suelo a techo, dándole a la boutique una mayor profundidad. El techo, por su parte, luce espectacular gracias a un gran panel formado por casi 3.000 piezas en forma de T (en referencia a la Joyería Torres), colocadas a mano, una a una. Su color evoca las tres tonalidades del oro: amarillo, blanco y rosa. Para finalizar, otro de los materiales que tiene una fuerte presencia en la tienda es el mármol de Ottawa, que recubre suelos, columnas y mesas. Gracias a todo ello, la joyería armoniza perfectamente pasado y presente, respetando la esencia de un espacio que invita a todo aquel que entra a mirar, sin titubeos, hacia el futuro.

The company is celebrating its 120th anniversary with an incredible renovation of its shop that combines the contemporary aesthetics of 1950s New York with 19th century wooden elements.

From 1896 to 2016: How to draw a line to join both dates? Since there is no time machine giving us the possibility to make this journey, the best thing to do is to express the company’s history through a renovation of its premises. And of course, we’ll also explain it to you. We wanted to celebrate our 120th anniversary by bringing our boutique, located on the centrally located Calle de la Paz, up-to-date. To do so, we asked Carlos Serra, founder of the renowned studio Mercader de Indias and one of the country’s best interior designers, to head the renovation. The goal was clear: to create a space that would bring together our history and a more contemporary style. The result, in our opinion, is outstanding. We had to accentuate the elements that define our identity and make our premises majestic, like the solid mahogany furniture with authentic gold leaf from the 1930s and the stunning ensemble consisting of wood panelling and a wooden staircase from the late 19th century. And we managed to do so by also combining this precious heritage with cutting-edge materials and finishes. The stone-coloured walls have been decorated with square pieces of leather and wallpaper from Armani’s Wallcoverings collection, as well as with bevelled floor-to-ceiling mirrors, thus giving the boutique greater depth. Meanwhile, the ceiling looks spectacular thanks to a large panel comprised of nearly 3,000 T-shaped pieces (in reference to Joyería Torres), hand-laid, one by one. The panel’s colour echoes the three shades of gold: yellow, white and pink. Finally, another prominent material at the shop is Ottawa marble, which was used for the floors, columns and tables. Thanks to everything as a whole, the jewellery shop perfectly harmonises past and present, respecting the essence of a space that invites everyone who comes inside to look, without hesitation, towards the future.

En su interior, en cambio, se imponen los tiempos modernos: calibre automático que ofrece 28.800 a/h. Oris is reissuing an emblematic diving watch that it released in the 1960s. It measures 40 mm and has excellently vintage details, including the domed glass and the dial. Inside, by contrast, modern times prevail: automatic calibre oscillating at 28,800 vibrations per hour.

LONGINES RAILROAD Longines reedita uno de los relojes que creó en los 60’ para la industria ferroviaria. Su caja de acero de 40 mm alberga un calibre automático que ofrece 64 horas de reserva de marcha. La esfera muestra dos escalas para cubrir todo el lapso de las 24 horas. Longines is reissuing one of the watches it created for the railway industry in the 1960s. Its stainless steel 40 mm case houses an automatic calibre that builds up a 64-hour power reserve. The dial shows two hour circles to cover the entire 24-hour period.

ZENITH ELITE 6150 Conjuga el refinamiento mecánico y la sobriedad estética para perdurar al margen de las tendencias. TAG Heuer demuestra a los aficionados a la Alta Relojería que la recuperación de los modelos históricos no está reñida con la creación del tourbillon más accesible del mercado. Son dos maneras de demostrar su experiencia. En definitiva, dos caras de una misma moneda cuyo valor reside en la capacidad para romper moldes. Eso es justamente lo que hizo TAG Heuer en el año 1916, cuando a petición de Charles-Auguste, hijo de Edouard Heuer, fabricó “un contador con una precisión de 5 a 10 veces superior” a los que existían en ese momento. La independencia de las cadenas cinemáticas de frecuencia normal y de alta frecuencia elimina cualquier riesgo de influencia del cronógrafo sobre el funcionamiento del reloj y reduce la pérdida de energía. Carrera Heuer-02T, el desafío Va a ser un antes y un después en el devenir de la firma, sin duda. El Carrera Heuer-02T, diseñado bajo el liderazgo y empuje de JeanClaude Biver, se presenta como el cronógrafo automático con certificación COSC y Tourbillon más accesible del sector. Este nuevo reloj se nutre del ADN del calibre CH-80 y de las innovaciones ya introducidas en el Carrera Heuer-01, un modelo que dejaba al descubierto parte de su mecanismo y que incorporaba uno de los elementos clave para entender la evolución de la firma: la caja modular. TAG Heuer is showing haute horlogerie enthusiasts that bringing back historical models is not at odds with the creation of the most affordable tourbillon on the market. They are two ways to demonstrate its experience. In short, two sides of the same coin whose value lies in the ability to break the mould. This is precisely what TAG Heuer did in 1916, when, at the request of Charles-Auguste, son of Edouard Heuer, it manufactured “a counter 5 to 10 times more accurate than anything currently in existence”. The Mikrograph, which was crafted in white gold, came in pocket watch format and featured a chronograph function powered by a Valjoux and Minerva based calibre. As for mechanics, the new watch is equipped with the Calibre TAG Heuer Mikrograph 1/100 second, the first mechanical chronograph with an integrated column wheel displaying 1/100 of a second using a central hand. Protected by 11 patents, this 480-component calibre incorporates two mechanisms: one for the time and the other for the chronograph. Each one has its own barrel and transmission and escapement system. The first, for the watch (hours, minutes, small

This new watch draws on the DNA of the calibre CH-80 and on the innovations introduced in the Carrera Heuer-01, a model that left part of its mechanism visible and integrated one of the key elements to understanding the brand’s evolution: the modular case. To a certain extent, this sets a new stage in the Swiss watch industry. The watch manufacturer has managed to combine technical expertise with maximum control over manufacturing costs. In keeping with the analogy, then, the Calibre HEUER-02T would be the main actor. With 4 Hz and 28,800 vibrations per hour, it features a single barrel to power the chronograph, a self-winding mechanism and a flying tourbillon in a diameter of only 32 mm that still offers good spacing between the counters (hours at 9 o’clock and minutes at 3 o’clock) to ensure proper balance. As for the tourbillon, it is hand-crafted by four expert in-house watchmakers, inspired by the Monaco V4’s tourbillon, which has central sections made from titanium and a carbon top section. It builds up a power reserve of over 65 hours.

Los dos nuevos modelos, presentados en Baselworld 2016, son el último escalón de una serie de relojes que prácticamente no se renovaba desde 2013. Aquel año, la casa presentaba la nueva gama de los Avenger II, que ofrecía una estética mejorada pero que técnicamente era demasiado conservadora al mantener todos los calibres de origen ETA. A pesar de esto, seguían siendo relojes muy prácticos, ya que no sobrepasaban los 43 mm de diámetro y a parte de la información horaria ofrecían funciones extra como un segundo huso horario o un cronógrafo. Ahora, con el Avenger y el Hurricane, la marca refuerza la estética deportiva de la colección, aumentando significativamente el tamaño de las cajas y sustituyendo el acero por otros materiales más ligeros y cromáticamente más extremados. Veamos, en primer lugar, el espectacular Breitling Avenger Hurricane. Su caja se va hasta los 50 mm, una medida que puede parecer exagerada pero que se justifica porque optimiza la funcionalidad para la que se ha diseñado. Y es que contra más grande es la caja, más grande es la esfera y más grandes serán las indicaciones y por tanto su legibilidad. La conclusión es clara: aunque es un reloj que encantará a los usuarios más atrevidos, es básicamente un reloj pensado para aquellos que tienen una actividad profesional que se ejecuta en condiciones de baja visibilidad. Los aviadores, por ejemplo, se beneficiarán de un reloj moderno y macizo, dotado de refuerzos naturales de protección y un look técnico negro realzado con toques de amarillo y cifras resaltadas tipo aeronáutico. Sin duda, una de sus principales novedades se encuentra justamente en la composición de esta caja XXL. Está hecha de Breitlight, un material cuya receta es “secreto de estado” y del que solo sabemos que es 3,3 veces más ligero que el titanio y 5,8 veces más ligero que el acero. En su interior, late el nuevo calibre de manufactura B12,

un movimiento de cronógrafo automático (72 horas de reserva de marcha) que en lugar de utilizar una escala de 12 horas para mostrar el tiempo emplea el formato 24 horas, común en el mundo de la aviación militar. Ello implica que la aguja horaria tarda un día entero en recorrer el círculo de la esfera y que por tanto la hora se lee atendiendo a los índices arábigos y no a la posición de sus agujas. El conjunto de funciones de este Hurricane se completa con el cronógrafo, que cuenta con un contador de 30 minutos a las 3h y un totalizador de horas a las 6. Además, dispone de un segundero a las 9h. Finalmente, para garantizar el máximo confort, Breitling ha creado un brazalete cuya parte exterior está hecha de fibra textil y la interior de caucho, lo cual garantiza también una mayor resistencia. Bandit, grabado en tu retina Llamativo, poderoso y con mucha personalidad: así es este nuevo bandido del aire, equipado con un traje de titanio y una escala de grises matizados que le confiere un aspecto aún más militar. A pesar de sus generosos 45 mm, posee un diámetro más llevable que el anterior. La caja presenta unos refuerzos laterales de protección. El bisel, adornado con cifras resaltadas grabadas, se distingue por sus cuatro índices móviles (una de las señas de identidad de la maison) que permiten memorizar tiempos. Por su parte, el relieve antideslizante de la corona atornillada y la superficie en damero de los pulsadores del cronógrafo garantiza un fácil manejo incluso con guantes. Respecto a la esfera, de un intenso color gris, cabe destacar su legibilidad y prestancia, algo que se debe al gran tamaño de sus elementos. Especialmente llamativos son los índices. Se han aplicado sobre la carátula, pero siguiendo la estética aeronáutica, se han partido por la mitad. Lejos de dificultar su lectura, este

recurso resulta de gran ayuda: al mirar la esfera, nuestro cerebro, de manera inconsciente, busca ‘cerrar’ el número y eso hace que nuestra retina se focalice sobre él. Por supuesto, Breitling tampoco renuncia a los contadores del cronógrafo. Están grabados con un fino relieve en forma de espiral y totalizan los minutos (a las 12h), las horas (a las 6) y los segundos (a las 9h). Cerrando el círculo, a las 3h, se encuentra el logotipo de la firma y la ventanilla de la fecha.

Dicha configuración, obviamente, se debe al motor. El interior del Avenger alberga el calibre B13 certificado COSC, realizado sobre la base de un Valjoux 7750. The two new models, which were presented at Baselworld 2016, are the last step in a series of watches that had virtually not been renovated since 2013. That year, the manufacturer presented the new range of Avenger II watches, which looked better but technically speaking were too conservative as they continued to be powered by ETA-based movements. Nonetheless, they were still very practical watches, given that they did not exceed 43 mm in diameter and that, in addition to time information, they provided extra functions like a second time zone and chronograph. Now, with the Avenger and the Hurricane, the brand is reinforcing the collection’s sporty aesthetics by significantly increasing the size of the cases and replacing steel with other more lightweight materials with more extreme colouring. Let’s first take a look at the stunning Breitling Avenger Hurricane. Its case has been expanded to 50 mm, a size that may seem too big but which is justified because it optimises they way the watch was designed to perform. The larger the case is, the larger the dial is and the larger the indications will be, thus making them easier to read. Bandit, engraved on your mind Striking, powerful and full of personality: this is the new air bandit, outfitted in a titanium suit and a scale of tinted greys giving it an even more military-like look. Despite its generous 45 mm, its diameter is more wearable than the previous one. The case has lateral protection reinforcements. The bezel, adorned with engraved stencil-type numerals, stands out with its four rider tabs (a classic Breitling signature feature) serving to memorize times. In addition, the non-slip grip of the screw-down crown and the chequered surface of the chronograph push-pieces ensure optimal handling, even with gloves. As for the dial, with its intense grey colour, noteworthy are the readability and elegance afforded by the large size of the varying elements. The numerals are particularly striking. They are applied on the dial, but, in keeping with the aeronautical design, have been split in half. Far from hindering reading, this effect is very helpful: when looking at the dial, our brain unconsciously seeks to “close” the number and this makes our retina focus on it. And of course, Breitling has not done away with the chronograph counters. They are engraved with a finely snailed raised motif and totalise minutes (at 12 o’clock), hours (at 6 o’clock) and seconds (at 9 o’clock). Closing the circle, at 3 o’clock, is the brand’s logo and the date window. This layout is obviously due to the engine. The inside of the Avenger houses the COSC-certified calibre B13 based on the Valjoux 7750. It is a self-winding movement that beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour. El desarrollo de relojes para las fuerzas armadas constituyó un magníﬁco banco de pruebas para la ﬁrma, ya que podía testar la legibilidad, precisión y resistencia de sus relojes en las condiciones más extremas.

Aunque persiste la esencia de su predecesor, vemos que el nuevo Heritage Military tiene un aspecto mucho más actual.

Longines tuvo un papel muy destacado en la consolidación del binomio aviación-relojería, un combo especialmente prolífico en la primera mitad del siglo XX. Watches evoking the world of aviation are no longer solely addressed at industry professionals. They are in; they are a safe bet. Oris ha canalizado el creciente interés por los relojes de estética aviador a través de su colección Big Crown ProPilot. En general, todos los guarda tiempos de esta línea gozan de un look muy contemporáneo y están equipados con brazaletes textiles y cajas de acero que no bajan de los 44 mm, un diámetro que asegura la buena legibilidad de la esfera. Lucen, además, un acabado satinado que combina muy bien con su característico bisel estriado, que remite al diseño de las turbinas de los aviones a reacción. La gama más completa del concepto Pilot Cada uno de los relojes de la colección ofrece una serie de funciones que conforman una gama muy completa. Destaca, en primer lugar, el Oris GIGN Limited Edition (1), creado específicamente para el Groupe d’Intervention de la Gendarmerie Nationale, la unidad de operaciones especiales de la policía francesa. Se caracteriza por albergar un movimiento de remonte automático equipado con un altímetro. Se activa con la corona situada a las 4h y muestra la altitud por medio de una indicación de color amarillo y la presión del aire con una indicación roja. La escala, graduada a 4.500 m, se encuentra en el realce exterior de la esfera. El diámetro de la caja se eleva hasta los 47 mm. Otro de los guarda tiempos presentados en Baselworld 2016 es el Big Brown ProPilot Day Date (2), un funcional reloj de 45 mm de diámetro. El dial, de color antracita y acabado sunburst, cuenta con dos grandes ventanillas que muestran respectivamente el día de la semana y la fecha. Para hacerlo posible, la firma ha implementado el nuevo Calibre 752, basado en un Sellita SW220. En tercer lugar, mencionamos el Big Crown ProPilot Calibre 111 (3), de 44 mm. El protagonismo en este caso recae sobre su movimiento de remonte manual, íntegramente manufacturado por la casa. Late a una frecuencia de 21.600 alt/h y ofrece 10 días de reserva de marcha, cuya evolución se muestra en un sub-dial a las 3h. A las 9h, la esfera exhibe un segundero y una ventanilla para la fecha. Por supuesto, el cronógrafo no podía faltar. El Big Crown Propilot Chronograph GMT (4), presentado en una caja de 44 mm, dispone de una trotadora central y tres contadores que registran los minutos (a las 12h), las horas (a las 3h) y los segundos (a las 9h). Por si esto fuera poco, añade un segundo huso horario indicado por la aguja de punta amarilla que recorre la escala exterior graduada a 24 horas. Por último, el reloj que abre este artículo: el Big Crown ProPilot GMT Small Second, ideal para aquellos que hacen de viajar su modus vivendi. Equipa el calibre automático 748, cuyo eje central está ocupado por las agujas que dan la hora y por la manecilla del segundo huso horario, que se distingue por tener la punta de color amarillo. Presenta además un segundero a las 9h.

Oris has channelled the growing interest for pilot’s watches with its Big Crown ProPilot collection. In general, all the timepieces in this line have a very contemporary look and are equipped with textile straps and stainless steel cases no smaller than 44 mm, a diameter which ensures the dial can be easily read. Moreover, they feature a brushed finish that goes exceptionally well with the characteristic ﬂuted bezel echoing the design of jet aircraft turbines.

The most comprehensive pilot range Each watch in the collection has a series of functions that together offer a very comprehensive range. The first noteworthy piece is the Oris GIGN Limited Edition (1), which was specifically created for the Groupe d’Intervention de la Gendarmerie Nationale, the special operations unit of the French police. It is characterised by the fact that it houses a self-winding movement equipped with an altimeter. The altimeter is activated with the crown located at 4 o’clock and shows the altitude using a yellow indication and the air pressure using a red indication. The scale, graduated to 4,500 m, is located on the outer rim of the dial. The case diameter has been increased to 47 mm. Another timepiece presented at Baselworld 2016 is the Big Brown ProPilot Day Date (2), a functional watch measuring 45 mm in diameter. The dial, in anthracite and with a sunburst finish, features two large windows showing the day of the week and the date. To power it, the watch manufacturer has used the new Sellita SW220 based Calibre 752. Third we look at the 44 mm Big Crown ProPilot Calibre 111 (3), The star of the show in this case is the hand-winding movement manufactured entirely in-house. Beating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, it builds up a 10-day power reserve, which is indicated in a sub-dial at 3 o’clock. At 9 o’clock, there is a seconds sub-dial and a date window. And of course, there had to be a chronograph. The Big Crown Propilot Chronograph GMT (4), presented in a 44 mm case, features a central seconds hand and three counters, one for minutes (at 12 o’clock), one for hours (at 3 o’clock) and one for seconds (at 9 o’clock). If that weren’t enough, it has a second time zone indicated by a yellowtipped hand that points to a 24-hour scale on an outer ring. Last of all, the watch that opens this article: the Big Crown ProPilot GMT Small Second (45 mm), perfect for those for whom travelling is a way of life. It is equipped with the automatic calibre 748, which has a central axis with two hands indicating the time and a third hand, distinguished by its yellow tip, to indicate the second time zone. It also features a seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock.
