Keeping Englewood Health Physicians Steps Ahead on Care

Welcome

to our first issue of Connect.

THE DOCTOR WILL SEE YOU

As a thriving community committed to elevating healthcare excellence to new heights, the way we connect with one another is extraordinary and sometimes unexpected. In each issue, we will share a peek into some of the remarkable accomplishments and small moments alike taking place every day at Englewood Health.

At any given moment, on any day, 365 days a year, Englewood Health physicians connect with countless patients and families. In the Emergency Care Center, their swift decisions and advanced treatments save lives. Using the latest technology in the operating room, surgeons perform complex surgeries to ensure best patient outcomes. At the bedside and in primary care practices, doctors help patients live healthier and longer, bridging care to specialists when needed.

We start right on the frontlines. The award-winning medical professionals at Englewood Health are helping us live wiser, stronger and healthier, providing care that is noticeably compassionate and innovative. A strong Englewood Health medical staff continues to expand both in the number of providers and its footprint, allowing our doctors to reach more patients in more ways than ever before. Within the community, we are broadening access to essential prevention and wellness programs, including healthy cooking demonstrations, fitness workshops and stress management classes. All of this and more is made possible thanks to you, our most generous supporters. I am so grateful for the continued investment that connects our families, friends and neighbors with boundless opportunities. For our community, the future has never been brighter. Together, we begin a new decade and a transformative journey where we will continue to reimagine the delivery of healthcare. Bringing that vision into reality will require a bold spirit of giving. It will call on us to be changemakers and to engage in new and exciting ways. With you as our partners in philanthropy, I am eager for all that lies ahead.

We caught up with Stephen Brunnquell, MD, president of Englewood Health Physician Network, and guess what we discovered?

Docs...They’re Just Like Us!

Now

While the medical profession increases focus on technology to revolutionize access to care, Englewood Health physicians choose to simultaneously prioritize the value of human connection. Showing up for patients when and how they need care … now. It is a meaningful component to the overall patient experience – and, patients feel the difference. Just ask Charlie and Lynne Klatskin. Longtime community residents and leadership-level benefactors of the Englewood Health Foundation, the Klatskins share a special connection with their primary care physician Lawrence Davis, MD, of Pattner & Grodstein MD, PA in Englewood. “To say Dr. Davis is wonderful would be an understatement. He goes above and beyond to make his patients feel like family. We could not ask for a better doctor,” shares Mr. Klatskin.

Patients and peers say Dr. Davis exemplifies Englewood Health’s unique culture of caring. For him, it is the opportunity to build long-term bonds with each patient that led his pursuit of primary care, and ultimately why he chose Englewood Health. Joining the medical staff 23 years ago, Dr. Davis recounts his immediate attraction to the clinical skill and compassion of his practice partners – and mentors – Drs. Pattner, Grodstein, Fein, Clifford and Zachariah. Ask him and he will quickly credit the caliber of his fellow primary care physicians, as well as Englewood Health specialists, for shaping a world-class patient experience. “Englewood Health consistently attracts top-notch physicians and practitioners, yet is able to maintain the best features of a community hospital, including solid support for its affiliated practices and a congenial, non-competitive culture. This is good for doctors and great for our patients,” Dr. Davis says. For Dr. Davis, the ability to build rewarding interpersonal relationships – connections – with his patients helps drive an unparalleled level of care and continuity. It is that outstanding care that inspires patient generosity. “We wanted to express our gratitude in a way that could benefit other patients, which is why we made a gift to the Foundation in Dr. Davis’ honor,” explains Mr. Klatskin. That help continues to make tremendous impact in infinite ways. Thanks to our partners in philanthropy, Englewood Health continues recruiting new leaders and providers, bolstering professional development, securing technologies that improve patient safety and introducing new community wellness programs. These are just some of the many extraordinary ways Englewood Health connects patients and families with revolutionary healthcare – today, and for every moment to come.

THEY GET DIRTY! On a nice spring weekend, you’ll find Dr. Brunnquell outside taking on the garden.

THEY GET THEIR GAME ON! A Yankee fan, Dr. Brunnquell likes to get out to the ball game.

THEY DREAM OF VACATION!

Dr. Brunnquell would jet off to Wengen, Switzerland, with his wife, kids and grandkids.

THEY POWER UP!

For Dr. Brunnquell, eggs are the go-to breakfast of champions.

I am grateful for the generous investments that so many patients have made to support Englewood Health through the Foundation. My colleagues and I could not serve the community as well as we do without this level of giving. It is the most meaningful way for us to help one another.

Lawrence Davis, MD

Dr. Davis will be honored at the Foundation’s On The Hudson 2020 Gala.
