PRESEASON 2022













Oliver Halkowich grew up in South Florida. He performed in Miami City Ballet's first Nutcracker at the age of seven, fell in love with both Tchaikovsky and ballet and migrated west to train at the San Francisco Ballet School. In 2001, he began his professional dance career back on the east coast with the Boston Ballet. A year later, he settled on middle ground in Texas. He joined Houston Ballet as a Corps de Ballet member in 2002 and rose
through the ranks to First Soloist dancing 19 seasons with the company. He has danced a variety of classical, contemporary and character roles: the socially awkward Alain in Sir Frederick Ashton's La Fille mal Gardee, the misunderstood stepsister in Stanton Welch's Cinderella, the jazzy couple in red in George Balanchine's Rubies and the bulldog sailor in Jerome Robbin's Fancy Free. He has also performed in work by Jiří Kylián, William Forsythe, Nacho Duato, Hans Van Manen, Christopher Bruce, Mark Morris, Ben Stevenson OBE, Justin Peck, Aszure Barton and Jerome Robbins, among others. Oliver has choreographed for Houston Ballet, Dance Alive National Ballet, Houston Contemporary Dance company, Mercury Ensemble, the Texas Contemporary Art Fair, the Blaffer Museum, Houston Cinema Arts Society, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, and Moody Center for the Arts. Alongside his good friends and fellow dancers, Melody Mennite and Connor Walsh, he co-produces REACH, a platform for Houston dancers and choreographers to create new work while raising money for arts education. He co-choreographed What we keep with Melody Mennite and Connor Walsh for Houston Ballet's performances at the George R. Brown Convention Center in 2018. He debuted his first solo commission Following for Houston Ballet’s 50th Anniversary season in 2019.

has a solid professional training and performance background. He was a soloist for the national and international touring company “A Few Good Men Dancin” and has danced in shows such as Aida, West Side Story, Lion King, Swing and appeared in the movie ENCHANTED. Martin has also performed with numerous professional companies, including Houston Metropolitan Dance Company, Arch Dance, Locke Contemporary Dance, Elliot Feld Ballet, Houston Grand Opera, Metropolitan Opera, and Richard Rivera’s PHYSUAL as well as Radio City’s Christmas Spectacular. He has performed in venues such as Jacob’s Pillow Dance, Joyce SoHo, Blaktino at BAAD in the Bronx, Riverside Theatre and American Dance Festival with some of New York’s emerging choreographers. Martin appeared on the talk show THE VIEW with singer Emma Bunton of the Spice Girls. He has performed with recording artists such as Jennifer Lopez, Pink, Black Eyed Peas, Rihanna and Debra Cox. He received Honorable Mention for Choreography at the World Jazz Congress in Washington D.C. 2000. In 2003 he founded Dorrell Martin Dance Fusion in Houston, TX, and the company made its international debut in Veracruz, Mexico, performing at the Festival Danza Cordoba. Martin graduated from The High School for the Performing Arts in Houston and continued his training at the North Carolina School where he received his BFA in Dance Theatre.
Additional study included prestigious centers for dance such as Paul Taylor School, Feld Ballet, The Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, EDGE Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles, New York State Summer Intensive with the New York City Ballet and with various schools and companies throughout Europe.
Martin is creator/former director of the Jazz and Contemporary Program at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City and former Artistic Director of Houston Metropolitan Dance Company in Houston, TX. He is a faculty member of Epic MartinDance.
Dorrell Martin is founder of the jazz and contemporary dance program, LEON Dance Arts that is associated with LEON Contemporary Dance Company, of which Martin is the Artistic Director. Martin is a full time faculty member at the St. John’s School in Houston, TX. He is on staff at the Amy Blake’s Dance Academy and West University Dance Center and director of 713 Dance Ensemble. He continues to guest teach and choreograph throughout the U.S.

Aaron also teaches regularly at Soundbox Studios, Dancezone,Vdanse Studios and now Episcopal High School. While teaching and mentoring, Aaron strives to broaden his dance vocabulary by taking all styles and immersing himself in all things dance.
Aaron Medina a Houston based dancer, teacher and choreographer. He is currently a the artistic director for Soundbox Studios.
Shelby Nunn, originally from Katy, Texas, is currently living in New York City where she graduated summa cum laude from Pace University earning her BFA in Commercial Dance. She trained during her high school years at Met Dance and graduated from The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. Some of Shelby’s performances includeFreddie Falls in Love at The Joyce Theater, The Capezio A.C.E Awards, and Fire Island Dance Festival with Al Blackstone in New York City. She had her television debut onGood Morning America performing a piece from the Oscar nominated movie La La Land choreographed by Mandy Moore.
Martin has taken his experiences of working with such notable artists such as choreographers Sean Curran, Daniel Ezralow, Kevin Wynn, Liz Imperio, Pattie Obey, Margo Sappington and among others, to explore and find his own voice in movement. As a teacher, choreographer and director, Martin teaches jazz and contemporary dance throughout the country and has set works on colleges, universities, dance companies and schools, such as Belhaven College, Hope College, Lamar University, Muhlenberg College, Harrison High School in Michigan, Urban Soul Dance Company, SET Contemporary dance, High School Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, TX, Ballet Forte.














In high school, Terri was Colonel of her dance team at Clear Springs, and enjoyed choreographing her own solos as well as group dances. Since then, she returns “home” to Houston every summer to teach master classes and set works (both concert and competition) at various schools of dance. Her work has gained recognition at competitions including YAGP, NYCDA, StageOne, Starbound, and Jump. She is looking forward to setting work at Episcopal High School this Summer!
Ms. Wright continues to perform as
a freelance artist, most recently as a member of the dance ensemble at The Met Opera (Porgy & Bess 2019; 2021, Madama Butterfly She2022).isalso
a recent honors MFA graduate from Parsons in Design & Technology, with a focus on digital video production. In combining this with her undergrad degree in dance from the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program, she has been able to expand her storytelling capabilities through the marriage of live performance, dance in choreography, and visual effects. Notable credits: Director & Choreographer for Inside Out short dance film (premiered at Utah Dance Film Festival 2022), Rehearsal Director for Suga’ VR Experience (premiered at Sundance New Frontiers 2022), Co-Director and Editor for Beauty Size & Color Documentary (All Arts WNet Group 2022) , Production Coordinator for TITANS (Ample Entertainment/History Channel 2022).
Terri Ayanna Wright is a New York-based performing artist, hailing from Baton Rouge, Louisiana by way of Houston, Texas. After her studies at the Ailey School, she toured internationally with Ailey II, and has since been granted opportunities to produce performances and choreograph throughout the United States and teach modern/contemporary master classes across the globe.
