Choreographer Bios
Joe Celej is a New York City based crea ve ar st whose career spans over twenty years of professional concert dance performance, choreographic inves ga on, and passionate instruc on and mentoring of students. Joe performed for nearly a decade with the interna onally acclaimed concert company Elisa Monte Dance, performing extensively throughout the US, Europe, and Asia including theaters in Paris, Rome, and many seasons at the pres gious Joyce Theater in NYC. He was also honored to both meet and perform for the Duke and Duchess of Luxembourg. Joe has performed works by renowned ar sts including Elisa Monte, Robert Ba le, Peter Chu, and Mario Zambrano with addi onal credits including Levi Strauss and Company, Walmart, the City of Houston, and Houston Grand Opera. Joe’s choreography has been presented across the US and Europe and he was honored to have his Joyce Theater choreographic premiere in 2011. Joe served as Associate Director of Houston METdance for five seasons, and most recently premiered his newest work Mirrored Soul commissioned by Houston Contemporary Dance Company in February 2023. Joe is an honored recipient of a 2010 Presiden al Scholar Teacher Recogni on Award from the US Department of Educa on. Joe has been a guest teacher/choreographer at established ins tu ons including Steps on Broadway, SUNY Buffalo, Rice University, Salve Regina University, Ballet Hispanico, and the High School for Performing and Visual Arts Houston (HSPVA). Joe is proud to have mentored numerous dancers who are alumni of pres gious programs including the Juilliard School, SUNY Purchase, Point Park University, and Pace University, with former students performing with Eastman/Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, LA Dance Project, Lar Lubovitch, Ballet Hispanico, the Radio City Rocke es, and Disney.
Choreographer Bios
Dawn Dippel has been dancing most of her life and is co-owner of NHPA II, co-Director and founding member of Revolve Dance Company, and a former member of the Dominic Walsh Dance Theatre. She grew up in the Houston area, graduated from Houston’s High School for the Performing & Visual Arts Dance Department, and since then con nues to train in and outside of Houston. Dawn’s choreographic works for Revolve Dance Company have been showcased at many of Houston’s various local performance events including Dance Houston, Texas Weekend of Contemporary Dance, Triple Focus, Choreographers X 6, Dance of Asian America, and Revolve On Camera. In the 2008 issue of Dance Magazine she was named as one of "25 to Watch" for up and coming ar sts across the country and was also named one of Houston's 100 crea ves by the Houston Press. In 2014, "Revolve On Camera" premiered at the Houston Cinema Arts Fes val and won the audience choice award at the Dance Camera West fes val in California. Currently Dawn is teaching at NHPA II, Ad Deum II and Houston Ballet Academy. She has spent many years working beside many talented and professional ar sts who have been an influence and inspira on in her journey of this art!
Choreographer Bios
Anicka Duncan is from Houston, Texas where she cul vated a passion for dance from an early age. She began her dance training at Rowland Ballard School of Ballet where she studied Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Modern, Musical Theatre, Lyrical, and Contemporary under the direc on of Sheryl Rowland, Kelly Agnew, and Amy Duncan. Anicka was a member of Kingwood Jazz & Company where she would explore the balance of ar stry and technique within dance. She has worked with renowned choreographers such as Peter Chu, Tammy Dyke Compton, Jessica Hendricks, Nick Gomez, Brooke Piero , Alex Blitstein, Jason Ambrose, Eric Bourne, Robbie Moore, Jc Schuster, and Jared Baker. While a ending The Houston High School for Performing and Visual Arts Anicka was able to extensively train in Modern, Improvisa on, and Choreographic Composi on which would directly correlate to her choreographic process as well as her ar s c vision. A er gradua on, she trained in collegiate dance and pom at Stephen F. Aus n State University and then at the University of Arizona dance department before returning to Houston to teach at numerous studios such as The Dance Vault, Cypress Dance Project, Texas Academy of Dance, Becky's Academy of Dance, Stacey's Dance Studio, and Amy Blakes Academy of Dance teaching recrea onal and compe ve dancers ages 2 to 18. From 2018-2021 Anicka was a professional cheerleader for the Major League Rugby team the Houston Sabercats where she helped choreograph half me performances and side line dances. She has also had the privilege to set choreography for both compe on dancers as well as school musicals, dance teams, and show choirs. Anicka had the opportunity to perform on Good Morning Texas where she was the featured dancer on the TV segment promo ng A Christmas Wish Holiday Spectacular at Moody Gardens. She con nues teaching, training, choreographing, and performing throughout Houston to give her students the best possible training she can offer. Anicka enjoys growing her knowledge of dance in many environments and con nues to explore the endless opportuni es dance provides.

Choreographer Bios Elijah Alhadji Gibson – Is the founder and Ar s c Director of Social Movement Contemporary Dance, a dance organiza on dedicated to the advancement of social consciousness through Crea ve Arts and community engagement. Originally from San Diego, California, he a ended the San Diego School for the Performing Arts. Mr. Gibson con nued his educa on and studied dance in college at Sam Houston State University under the direc on of Dana Nicolay and received his Master of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, with a focus on dance history, soma c studies, and pedagogy. In 1999, Gibson joined the world-renowned Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago where he toured na onally and interna onally for eight years. He has worked with or performed the works of the late Gus Giordano, Margo Sappington, Christopher Huggins, Jon Lehrer, Mia Michaels, Liz Imperio, Randy Duncan, Tony Powell, Ron De Jesus, and Davis Robertson among many others. He’s also had the privilege of guest performing with Instruments of Movement, Cirqua Rivera Dance Theater, Thodos Dance Chicago, and Especialty Tap Chicago just to name a few. He has performed and taught throughout the United States as well as in Germany, France, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Costa Rica, Latvia, Spain, Ecuador, Canada, and Mexico. Mr. Gibson has served on the facul es of RDA Midwest, Gus Giordano Jazz Intensive, American College Dance Fes val Associa on, Jazz Dance World Congress, Dance Masters of Wisconsin, Chicago Na onal Associa on of Dance Masters, Leon Dance Arts NY, Embrace Dance Conven on, and Key West Modern Dance just to name a few. Dance companies have performed his choreography na onally and interna onally such as Nomi Lamad, Inaside Dance Chicago, Thodos Dance Chicago, Jayson Tisa Dance Company, City Dance Company of Houston, Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago II, and Naway Dance Company, as well by university dance ensembles throughout the country. Mr. Gibson has been on faculty at Shenandoah University, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Sam Houston State University. Gibson has dabbled in every aspect of the arts from dance, theater, and film.
