A Note From the Director... Welcome Back! We are thrilled to be sharing a full production again in the Underwood Theatre! For some of you, this will be a welcomed return, for others, a first foray into the world of theatre at EHS. Either way, I know I speak for all of us when I say thank you for coming and great to see you! Our Town is, by all accounts, an American classic. It resides on the list of most produced plays every year and every decade and has for the past 75 years. It bucked all trends of the time (1938) by including minimal set and nearly no props. It reset how we looked at theatre. And yet, this play manages to be unassuming and universal by halves. It lives in a place normally discussed with Shakespeare; it transcends time. New Hampshire of the early 1900’s might be the setting, but the story is timeless and the theme truly universal. Our Town reminds us not to get lost in the day, while also admitting that we can’t avoid it. It is a theatrical fable, an inescapable tale of unavoidable loss. And yet we feel renewed watching it. I can’t think of a better way of beginning the year than having the chance to work with this incredibly talented group of performers. With a cast of 38, this cast is an army and this army has been working together since August 2 to get this production together so early in the semester. They are witty, intelligent, fun individuals who gave the end of their summer to start the season off strongly. They are the past, present and future of EHS Onstage and I am honored to have had the chance to play with them for these few weeks. I hope you enjoy their hard work as much as I have! Thank you to Mr. Brock, Mr. Ashby, Dr. Berckley, Mrs. Weigand, Mrs. Alarcon, Ms. Bowman, Mr. Hutcheson and the myriad of other people at EHS who have made this season and this show possible. It truly takes a village, and we have a phenomenal one at EHS. And thank you to the families of the cast and crew for allowing us to monopolize a piece of your year. Your contribution is vital and greatly appreciated. And finally, a special thank you to James Neeriemer (Class of 2023) for the beautiful music. It isn’t often you get to have original music in a production and having it provided by a student makes it all the more amazing! Enjoy Our Town!
Back On Stage! Go Seniors!
