Introduction The RRC group of companies is an international holding with a 15-year long history. Established at the time when Russia was undergoing radical economic reforms, the company strove to look far ahead and invest in business development and pursuit of new markets. A clear strategic vision of prospects and growth opportunities enabled the company to open its first office in Eastern Europe in 1998 — only six years into existence. When the company hit the European market it had a range of advanced and efficient tools to enhance profitability of its client businesses. Today, RRC Group consists of three independent companies — RRC EN, DiFo, and RRC Education. Although their business operations are different, they are united by their ambition to be at the cutting edge of the technical progress and supply consumers with advanced solutions for work and leisure.

RRC Group / Annual Report 2006-2007

2006 results In 2006, RRC Group accomplished the objectives it had envisioned, strengthened its positions within familiar market segments, and acquired new opportunities to pursue promising markets and business areas. RRC Group executed a number of new agreements with world’s leading manufacturers of high quality equipment, adjusted the strategy of one of the group’s companies, and began to pursue export markets which enabled the company to expand its international operations onto new European territories. A great deal of work was implemented in control automation and planning of business processes. In 2006, these ambitious objectives were accomplished through introduction of a modern ERP information system which enables the company to manage business processes at all levels of its organizational structure. This system helps RRC Group to create a common information space for all of its geographically distributed subsidiaries and to standardize internal procedures, reporting, planning, and control over business activities in all of its operation areas. This automation concept has enabled RRC Group to significantly reduce its costs, improve the corporate resources management quality, ensure more effective strategic planning, and more adequately forecast further development of the holding. Additionally, in 2006 the company launched a number of projects designed to automate its external operations. The projects will integrate CRM and e-Commerce applications into the RRC Group common information space to help the company to improve the quality of its customer service and more adequately plan its relations with clients. Today, results of these innovations are already visible. Using IT technologies RRC Group accomplishes concrete strategic objectives. For example, advanced e-Commerce applications enable RRC Group to actively develop its relations with partners operating within the SMB segment because they require a flexible and operative solution to work with suppliers that meets modern standards and market realities. In addition to information systems, in 2006 RRC Group began to deploy a management by objectives (MBO) system. This system is introduced to improve manageability of the company. It implies planning of each employee’s tactical objectives on the basis of the company’s strategy and plans. It also enables the company to synchronize efforts of its various structural units to ensure they all work towards common goals. This innovation results in improved communications between unit leaders and their subordinates in setting objectives, evaluating their accomplishment, and identifying criteria required to appraise employees’ performance.

Geography The RRC Group operation territory extends from the shores of the Pacific Ocean in the Russian Far East through Siberia and Urals to eastern outskirts of Europe. This is the best characteristic of the RRC Group business — the company operates in twelve sovereign states and works for the benefit of people from different cultures and with different mentalities. At the same time, the group of companies adheres to uniform strategic principles — niche distribution, individual approach to building relations with partners, and flexibility of the organizational structure. But in each country the RRC office is unique — it develops according to local market laws and adapts to local market peculiarities while preserving the basic principles of the group. This means that RRC Group does not need clichés — it needs partners’ trust and leadership in strategic niches.

In 2006, DiFo Russia radically changed its product portfolio to optimize the company’s business in the region. It gave up on auxiliary brands that had stagnated on the market and focused on segments that are potentially promising in terms of profitability. One of the notable events in the DiFo business development was the launch of an E-shop system in seven countries of operation. The success of this system is confirmed by the fact that the company sells 27% of equipment through the E-shop. In 2006, DiFo achieved impressive results in Eastern European countries — its business grew by 139% by the year’s end. An impressive business growth rate was observed in Ukraine. The company tripled its business in this country and plans to double it in 2007. DiFo took advantage of the Export markets division established by RRC Group to expand its operations onto twenty-five countries. The Export markets division sells equipment in territories in which the company does not have permanent offices. Today, the division actively sells Palm equipment in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malta, Romania, Slovenia, and Turkey. By the end of 2007 DiFo will be supplying Palm equipment to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Albania, Moldova, and Belarus thus expanding its operations onto a total of twenty-five countries. DiFo is the exclusive distributor of this manufacturer’s equipment and its sales in the aforementioned countries amounts to 61% of the total amount of Palm equipment sold by DiFo in Eastern Europe. In 2006, DiFo accomplished a great deal of work to develop the channel. The company segmented its partner base having carefully examined its preferences and recommendations, which enabled DiFo to design and introduce an optimal operation strategy for each segment of the channel.
