Cal-Nev-Ha l KIWIN’S Bonjour! I am honored to introduce myself as this year’s upcoming Jade Lieutenant Governor! My name is Elaine Cheng, and I will be a senior at Oakland High School. Throughout my high school journey, KIWIN’S has definitely been a huge impact of my life, and I absolutely cannot wait to contribute my ideas and creativity to this year’s District Board. I am really looking forward to all there is to experience with Cal-Nev-Ha KIWIN’S in the near future!
To get to know me a little bit more: I am actively involved around my community and my school campus. I am the buildOn club President, National Honor Society Secretary, Student Body Social Chairperson, and a Link Crew member in addition to my position in KIWIN’S. I’ve dabbled in quite a variety of activities over the years: I spent time in Summer Search, Student Conservation Association, Phoenix Scholars, Global Glimpse, and Upward Bound. On my free time, I enjoy going on hikes, attending community service projects, and traveling to new places! Yes, I may sound dorky, but over the year I have achieved over 200 hours of community service in just one club. To describe myself in a couple of words, I can say that I am determined, optimistic, and loud.
ELAINE CHENG Looking back to my freshman year, I never would’ve thought that I would have the honor and privilege of holding this influential position. When I first joined KIWIN’S, I was just a timid and shy little freshman with big hopes for college. By the end of my freshman year, I decided to apply for historian of my club, and I was elected for that position. I then made the brave decision to apply for District Awards Chair, and to my disbelief and joy, I had been appointed. I worked extremely hard as Awards Chair, consistently trying to work on having a successful term. My term as Awards Chair was a truly humbling experience, and I am still beyond grateful for having the chance to be a part of the District Board Powerhouse. It has helped me to discover who I am as a person, and it has exposed me to one-of-a-kind experiences and people that have molded me into the person that I am today.
As the Jade Lieutenant Governor, I am aiming to unify my 3 clubs through the actions of hosting more divisional events and encouraging interclub activities. I vow to take my job seriously and efficiently. I plan on expanding Jade once my clubs are stable and to emphasize fundraising, service projects, and strengthening communication throughout the whole division. As the Lieutenant Governor, I will make sure to keep consistent communication and to grow a strong bond between the presidents.
I hope to grow strong bonds with you all, and I am definitely looking forward to a successful , productive, and memorable year with all of you. Yours in love and service,
Elaine Cheng
