What has Jade To start off the new year, the club has only had one event this month. Early in the morning, we helped set up for a public event celebrating Martin Luther King Day at the Hercules Library. Many active members had volunteered for this event, which had the setting up done in no time! After that, we served breakfast to those that attended the event.

On December 6, 2014 Oakland High KIWIN’S attended the annual auction held at Francesco’s. The auction was to help raise money wanis scholarship. The scholarship is a $6,000 scholarship that is give iors. Members played a vital role in the auction by setting up, takin bers, greeting guests, and more! Oakland High was also recognize contribution which made members feel appreciated. All in all, the was a great success, Kiwanis was able to raise a lot of money for th scholarship.

e been up to? On the day of January 19 we had five Kiwin’s members participate in the soup kitchen. Once they got there they got to work! They started cooking, cutting vegetables and most importantly working together. After they were done with all their tasks they had, they waited patiently to serve. That day they served Lasagna and string beans. After they were done serving them, they helped wash dishes and left home feeling accomplished.

Jaguar of the Month Nomination: “Victoria has shown outstanding ability to step out of her comfort zone to meet other people in the division. Over the year I have known her, I have been able to see the growth in her. Her bubbly personality is what attracts those to be her friends. She continues to show dedication in the organization despite what her other friends are in. Although she is a freshman, she tries her best to go to events: both club level and divisional level. She is a wrestler. I love her Nicolette Cruz Hercules High President

FIRST HERC On January 23, 2015, the Oakland Kiwanis Advisor, Lieutenant Governor, and Oakland High School Vice President had the wonderful opportunity to attend Hercules High School Officer Bonding/ Photo shoot. Hercules’ officers welcomed with open arms to their beautiful city. We spent the day, catching up with upcoming dates and had wonderful photos taken by a lovely KIWIN’S member. We will definitely go back to Hercules soon!
