Local interview After doing our desk research, we had an understanding of the social impact of Glasgow's major events, and we wanted to know if the event would have a long-term benefit to the local community, so we decided to go on a field research and ask some local people.

In-depth interview Based on our desk and field research, we found that Glasgow held lots of events annually, including sports, music, culture and traditional festival, especially sports.

According to common sense, the positive effect of hosting these events in Glasgow should have a positive feedback, but we find the benefit doesnʼt impact on the residents obviously in Glasgow, mainly shown on the high unemployment, the wealth gap between different parts of the city, lots of alcoholism and homeless people, so we want to explore deeply the reason behind this phenomenon —— whatʼs the relationship between these events and residents(from the point of economy, social, interrelationship, education, government policy, transportation, etc….), and what can do better to help them to stimulate the development of Glasgow.

How might we make sports facilities accessible to less affluent teenagers?

"What's your organization mainly focus on ?"

Youth sports activities are not well-organized and student participation is low.

"We also focus on the youth between 11-16 years old who don’t like sports.I hope that these children can become confident through exercise and participation in activities. At the same time, they also exercise their social skills and make them willing to speak.The intervention should start early: Let them try to exercise before they start drinking."

"What's the challenge of various activities held by your organization ?" "some people don’t like the sports which they try.but “ I don’t like it” is better than “ I don’t know it” Many people participate only once. Many people will not continue to try the sport after participating in the activity."

The age group where sports participation is falling at the fastest rate is in teenagers aged from 15-16 years old.

CaseStudy In order to find out about youth sports in one of Glasgow's deprived areas, Great Pollock, we found SAPC, a charity in the community that specialises in providing a variety of free sports opportunities and platforms for young people in the community.

St Angelas Participation Centre (SAPC) The SAPC was a constituted community group made up of local people. The SAPC was created to provide FREE sport, help embrace diversity and improve the lives of young people and their families in and around Darnley, Greater Pollok and the surrounding areas of Glasgow South. The St AngelaĘźs Participation Centre is now commonly known as SAPC Community Sports Hub. The SAPC is delivered, governed and managed entirely by volunteers. They are creating opportunities for the community especially the users and volunteers.

Engaged in their activities EU Erasmus By participating in two events organized by the organization, we were able to exchange information with exchange representatives from four countries on the status of youth sports in each country and learn more about SAPC's internal operating model.

How sports engaged in the Pollok Community?

We learned that the advantage of this organization is that they can make full use of the resources in the community. For example, in one of their youth leader programs, young people under the age of 18 will play the role of assistant coach in the team. After18, they can choose to stay as young volunteers or train coaches. and their parents, start from taking care of their children and gradually developed into community volunteers. At the same time, if they have interested in any sports activities, they can be trained to become coaches. This will not only reduce the burden on their families but also fully mobilize the local residents' sports enthusiasm, change the role and the relationship between residents and the community.

Case analysis Core Method --Assets Based Approaches Assets based approaches are an integral part of community development in the sense that they are concerned with facilitating people and communities to come together to achieve positive change using their own knowledge, skills and lived experience of the issues they encounter in their own lives.

They recognise that positive health and social outcomes will not be achieved by maintaining a "doing to"culture and respect that meaningful social change will only occur when people and communities have the opportunities and facility to control and manage their own futures.

Comparison At the same time, we also made some comparisons between the previous interview and other failure cases. We found that a very important reason for the success of the organization is that it can build community relationships through a bottom-up approach. community residents change themselves and the community through relationship net and the development of leadership. People have more opportunities to control and manage the future, while traditional cases still think from the problem-solving process. When the problem comes, wait for outside help.

In Scotland, gaps in health and social inequalities continue to widen.The organization recognises the assets based approaches will alleviate the effects of long term structural inequality and disadvantage, also will change the national policy and redefine the relationship between the citizens and the state.

We met with other stakeholders on the SAPC activities. We interviewed with the government, such as "Glasgow city council", "Glasgow Life"; Scotland association, like "Glasgow sport", "Youth Scotland", and two local community centres--Pollok area community centre and village storytelling centre.

As the main intermediary in this solution, SAPC is responsible for collecting the second-hand sports equipment such as feather taps, ropes, etc. provided by sports enthusiasts in the community, which is then centrally managed and stored in a mobile equipment cart. At the same time, they also responsible for the management and maintenance of the sports cars. (e.g. maintenance of equipment in the sports car, coupon replenishment, etc.)
