year and take the opportunity to thank both our clients and the Elders team. Thank you to our clients for entrusting us with their most valuable assets. It’s a privilege which comes with great responsibility. This year our team executed 18% more farmland transactions than 2019 and our network generated some exceptional results for our clients right across Australia. In many regions we saw continued price increases notwithstanding strong value appreciation in prior years. Many of our team were involved in transactions that saw record prices achieved amidst an insatiable appetite for Australian farmland from both local operators and investors from further afield. It is wonderful to see the confidence

In many respects, we head into 2021 in unchartered territory amidst global uncertainty on many levels. However, if you take a deep breath and ignore all the noise, one thing is certain. Australian agriculture enjoys the fundamentals and outlook the envy of most, if not all, other sectors. It will remain an exciting place to be investing and working. Please enjoy the final edition of Estates for 2020.

NEW SOUTH WALES

NSW Market Update RICHARD GEMMELL REAL ESTATE MANAGER NSW Spring campaigns and sales results throughout New South Wales have continued to track steadily upwards as qualified investors continue to consider agriculture as a sound investment. With all sectors of the market meeting strong demand, this spring has delivered the opportunity many vendors were hoping for. The ability to market and sell amidst favourable seasonal conditions has provided the confidence of both presentation in the best possible light, and for campaigns to generate competitive tension providing clear market driven outcomes. Demand for mixed farming and grazing properties that have been well managed and maintained continue to receive strong inquiry. Recent auction, EOI and private treaty campaigns have seen a number of mixed farming enterprises successfully marketed with post harvest settlement terms. Also, we have and continue to broker a number of Walk In Walk Out transactions across various sectors of the market. Dependant on individual circumstances, being able to manage risk for both vendor and purchaser can lead to very positive results. 4

eldersrealestate.com.au

Harvest has commenced in the north of the state and is rapidly working its way south. Storms are always a risk at this time of year with farmers hoping mother nature is kind enough to allow produce to reach the storage sheds and silos without too much disruption. Cotton planting has taken place along the irrigation valleys with this season providing some long-awaited hope for increased water allocation, something which hasn’t been available for some time. 2020 will certainly be year for many farm land owners and agribusiness investors to remember for all its challenges and exciting opportunities.
